I dry fast 12 hours a day, from supper to breakfast. At breakfast, around 7:00am, I eat or I just have coffee, depending on my fasting schedule for that day. Love ❤️ your videos! Keep them coming. Since watching your videos and following your strategy I’ve lost 74 lbs this year!
I couldn't find any research with a large sample that found that dry fasting is bad for your health. The brain fog the first few days is similar to the Keto flu.
I don't like coffee without salt anymore. I found that I needed to get used to it, but it didn't take long. Now it tastes amazing, and I get plenty of quality sea salt into my [fasting] diet that way. I also add some Chaga (mushroom powder, but not too much!) to the grounds, and ceylon cinnamon with the decaf - also very nice.

Could you test four or five popular diet sodas to see which ones break a fast? Acesulfame potassium (a.k.a. 'Ace K') is a very potent artificial sweetener used in many diet sodas, excluding Diet Coke. Should prove an interesting test.

Turn negatives into positives. 3) Nothing wrong with Bullet Proof coffee, butter, MCT (C8,C10), bone broth and electrolytes whilst fasting - And water of course. 4) A tea spoon of pure cod liver oil won't hurt.
So I started fasting 4 days ago. I'm planning on either 7 or 10 days. The main purpose is to kick start my Keto (carnivore) diet. I've followed the Atkins diet since his first book was published back in 74 or 75. Once I decide on when to break the fast, I don't want to drop out of ketosis. What is the best way to (foods to eat) when breaking your fast but without dropping out of ketosis? Also, I'm having trouble finding the electrolyte you mentioned. Endura?
I tried Omad and loved it but I like doing my insanity max 30 first thing in the morning and like mct + coffee as preworkout. I need to loose 6/7 kgs and my weight is stuck. I am so confused if I go for keto and eat full day or do IF and carry on with my intense workouts. I love working out but my weight is not budging. Love your videos, always informative 👍
Help! My husband and I have been following you since we started keto in Jan 2020. Husband lost 70 pounds! We also intermittently do IF. His cholesterol went from 250 (before) to 206 (in July) to 271 in Dec. The doc says go on a low fat diet and take statins. We saw your video about a more detailed blood test. Doc says he wont authorize the test. He says it won't do any good and will still show high cholesterol. We LOVE the food, and lifestyle. Not sure where to go from here. Any suggestions?
Fasting is really orthogonal to diet. Once the body learned to handle the effect of ghrelin (the hunger hormone), fasting on any diet (including high carb low fat vegan) feels good. One myth about dry fast is that you'll get dehydrated easily. In fact, as long as you have enough body fat (e.g. > 9%), body would convert fat into (metabolic) water, while burning fat. The body would also preserve water and minerals by urinating less. Water composition in the body typically goes up after a 36 hour dry fast. Of course, extended dry fast (beyond 5 days) is not advisable for non-experts. The #1 recommendation is to take it slow. The #1 gotcha is how to break a fast, esp. extended and dry. The end state is amazing.
I have often gone 12 plus hours without eating. Haven't lost a pound. Trying to clean up my food, but I am an ice-cream addict. I have at least 1 cup a night. Not sure how to stop that craving. Also addicted to pan-frying fish dipped in a cornstarch/spice mixture.I am also addicted to tootsie pops. Silly, I know, but.... I don't drink, smoke, or take drugs, so food is my comfort! I have managed to go a mile a day on the treadmill, lift some light weights, and do 50 modified crunches a day. I've been fighting my weight most of my life. Not sure what else I can do at this stage of the game.
Have you seen that ketones go under 5 when you are sick. I had strep throat, barely ate and had my carbs probably under 10 and my ketones went 5 and under.
I started the 16/8 3 weeks ago. I am getting very nauseous in the morning. I have thrown up a few times. Google says this is low blood sugar. If so, what is yr advice.
Get a glucose monitor to be sure. You can get a monitor between 10 and $20 at Walmart, and the strips are $18 for 50. The lansing device may be another $5-10. Play around with your meal timings and macros. Personally if I eat too late my stomach gets all girgle-ly and actually wakes me up. It could be because your body is digesting its own fat, and it's just not used to digesting fat. It may just be an adjustment phase.

Dehydration can cause a headache too. True medical fasting (for lab testing) is drinking only water. The type of "fasting" that adds other foods and drinks needs to have another name.

I add a pinch of salt to my ground coffee before brewing and I really like the way it enhances the flavor.
I'm on OMAD and never hungry. I usually eat at 5 pm after work.

Same here. Some times we might be 18/6 or 20/4 but most of the time OMAD. And usually a 58+ hour fast once every week or two.

I used to think salt in coffee would be gross. I actually prefer it with salt when I drink it black while fasting.
Coffee black hurts my stomach. Also caffeine dehydrates you.

Great practical advice! My Kroger has started stocking Kettle & Fire bone broth. Also, a pinch of salt in coffee or hot tea is really delicious.

The best source of potassium ive found is salt substitute. Potassium chloride. I otherwise get plenty of sodium.

I enjoy pink or Celtic salt, along with MCT powder,, in my coffee. ☕ So, I don't have the coffee during a fast.

I use a pinch of salt in my coffee; I believe it takes out a bit of the bitterness. ;)

Dairy is a no no for some woman, maybe that is why you seeing no weight loss.
Also try to increase time from 12 to 16 hours with 8 hour eating window
