Run these beside the Jordan Peterson rules for life - interesting points of departure. We are in an era where shallow thinking presents glib instructionals in a video a few minutes long and sets it up as Teaching on a platform such as RUclips. But in this case, there is a plenty of effort been expended in arriving at his conclusions. It's better to hear Mr Taleb in summary than in drawn-out speaking. He is a better writer than speaker.
Surely the best way for Americans to live resilient lives would be to act collectively to create an efficient, all-inclusive national health system, to ban military weapons being held by private individuals, and to restrict gun ownership generally. Every other civilized nation managed to do that long ago. If they did those things, a lot of resilience would immediately be built into their existence at very little cost and they could think about more creative and productive topics, as befits a rich, advanced nation.
Commendations for the work you put into making this video. But I wonder what Mr. Taleb would think of his ideas being turned into an "11 Rules / How to" short video when he himself dismisses such short-hand quick-to-digest knowledge in his essay Antifragile, and when his own website prohibits others from giving him titles like the Sunday Times did by naming his book as one of the 12 most influential books since WWII (mentioned in the video's description). RUclips is RUclips, and clickbait evidently works, but as he himself put it at 2:02 of this video: "For almost all people I have met, external, and not internal, success came with an increase in fragility."
Wow…. Thx for the elevation sir… just a little suggestion if I may, the black swan or all the book you wrote is hard for average ppl like us to read.. can u make it simpler? LolZz thx
