    Better yet tube the buck out with NO cuts and let the taxidermist make the cuts. No doubt it’s harder getting the hide over the front shoulders but my taxidermist appreciates this.

      That’s definitely best case scenario, but the average deer hunter has zero patience trying to tube the arm pits and usually do more harm than good lol

    Hey Daniel, that's good to know if I ever get to hunt and fill my tag again. Like I told you 2 videos ago, you will get your buck. Congratulations on a nice buck. Love your channel and videos. Take care and be safe. Also, if you do any more hunting, best of luck to you.

    Great information! Thanks I have question for you if you have time. Can I take out my deer cape that’s in the freezer work on it for awhile then refreeze it till I get my form? Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Question on old video of you sewing back of head up. Do you not glue under where you stitched up

    • @thecedarridgechronicles
      @thecedarridgechronicles  7 месяцев назад

      On the old videos I used to put glue on the form then try to stitch. Now I add it under the stitch as I go. Way easier

    Daniel- I kind of messed up. Shot a buck and due to time restraints and distance we were from the house, I capped the deer our and skinned the head without getting measurements. I had the skull and was able to measure from the eye to the tip of the nose plate and it was 7 1/2 inches. How much should I add to that measurement to account for the actual hide and nose?
    Also, the buck was a 250lb live weight Iowa deer, with the biggest neck I have ever seen. However just measuring the skinned skull and neck, I got 16-18" neck measurements. How much should I add on to the neck to account for the hide?
    I am afraid that if I order too small of a form, it wont look right, but too big of a mold and the hide wont fit.
    Any help would be appriciated!

      You’re better off using the skinned cape anyway. This will show you how

      So can I thaw it out, measure and refreeze? Its currently in the freezer now. The problem I will run into is if I thaw it out, I still have to order the form and wait for it to be delivered.
