The guide should have known better. The whole scenario was a bear attack waiting to happen. If you can not see a large grizzly on a cache, you get out of there. Not being able to keep your eye on a grizzly is a bad situation.
@@shadipahlavi no uour not the only one every comment Ive read said that same thing. Efo selfish trophy hunters out for a kill to brag later w a mount . Sickening to most anyone who cares at all of what nature is all about
There is goi g to be many more bear attacks in the country because without allowing hunting they have lost their fear of man! Bears coyote, cougars are a real threat to anyone and your pets! Remember that brown bears will normally beat you up some and leave you unless it is very hungry, black bears are much more dangerous, if you are attacked by a black bear fight like hell because he sees you as his dinner and will kill and eat you! One other thing you can not outrun or outclimb a bear if he is serious , he will catch and eat you!
@@jessehutchings I mean I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that. What they *do* instead say is that bear attacks are rare, and even if you are to encounter one, it will probably run away. And not just probably; most likely, really. If you went to Yellowstone Nation Park right now, you would be more likely to die from bees than bears.
I live around bears, mostly black bears. I have been reading bear tales since I was a kid and even to this day I have nightmares about them although I have never been attacked by one. I have had a few close calls, but the bear and I always parted ways intact. Some years ago I was with my daughter and granddaughter out looking for deer antlers in a common dump site of hides and heads the local hunters used to throw their kill remains in. I am Native American and use the antlers in my Native art work, and I go there often to pick up antlers and bones. On this day, I had my daughter and her oldest daughter with me. We climbed down the hill into the dry creek bed and I noticed fresh bear droppings. I called my granddaughter over to show her the poo and we talked about how fresh it was and how careful we should be as the bear who left it may be close by. On we went. My granddaughter was on one side of me and my daughter on the other when my grand daughter said, "Hey grandma, look at this!" I could see her reaching down to grab what looked to be an old hide. Hide it was, old it was not! When she grabbed that sleeping bear all hell broke loose!! I swear to god that bear jumped 10 feet in the air!! Damnedest thing I have ever seen!! What played out that day was purely a sight to behold!! The bear took off for the hills and my grand daughter ran over the top of me on her way to the car!! As I was laying in the dirt, I could see the bear on the other side of the creek, and he looked pretty freaked out! He was panted pretty hard and I just started laughing my ass off!! My granddaughter was 16 at the time, and she hit me like a line backer! I often wonder about that poor bear. Did he ever come back to that spot? If I was a betting lady, I would bet no!
@@scarybearattacks Go a head and use it! You can use my name, I am not shy! Besides that, the name I use here is only my birth name, not the one I use in life. I think about that poor bear every time I drive up that way! I didn't think a bear could sleep that soundly! We had been walking around talking for about 5 minutes before by grand daughter grabbed a hold of him! Woke him right up!! We didn't have cell phones at that time, none that had cameras in them anyway, because that would have been an epic video!!
As soon as I heard Alaska I knew it had to be a grizzly. If your close enough to see it's a grizzly trust me your too close. That giant bear has gotten to that size by being a capable predator and hunter.
I’ve hiked in bear country in Alaska (photographed the brown bear in my pic). All grizzlies are brown bears, but not all brown bears are grizzlies. Interior Alaska has grizzlies. They are smaller because of their limited food source. Then there are coastal brown bears. Much bigger because they have a more varied food source..access to fish, meat, grass, clams..Kodiak bears are even bigger & in their own category. There are also black bears in Alaska.
@@Alaska_Gal Grizzly bears can even be white or black. The distinguishing characteristics is the hump on its shoulder region. The black bears don't have these, only Grizzly, which can be any shade of brown, white, or black, even greyish, all have the distinct hump.
True , and I am going hiking today in bear territory, I carry a Ruger 357 mag .My yard is bear territory with them passing through almost every night,. Here in the southern Appalachians the berries aren't ripe yet and the food sources are scarce . Spring is the best time of year to have bad bear encounters . My daughter asked me why I watch these videos and I answered ,"The same reason you watch horror movies." These stories strike a primal fear in our brain .
@@maxinemcclurd1288 See, I watch because I don't live by my fear, I seek ways to overcome them. Silly humans these days loooove to just ignore reality because it's uncomfortable and world shattering, even worse when it comes to something that could very well save your life, just as not being complacent will do (as you will realize you are on a path to hell).
Poor bear! In my opinion, it's criminal that people should just be allowed to randomly hunt and kill creatures like this. Simply for no other purpose than for sporting trophies! Sickening really. And I've hunted wild game for the table all my life.
I have a lot to say about this... but it's best if I just stick with: There are never winners in a bear × human situation. Thanks for another amazing video 🧡
I think I might completely agree with you. Im not sure but sounds like it. I had a long comment which usually I dont but I felt strongly enough this time.
I'm a hunter and I love hunting, but f--k people who are out for trophies and don't eat the meat. I hope that wasn't the plan with these guys. Excellent stories, love this channel. Thanks man!
I am an Alaska professional hunting guide for 26 years so let me educate you being so ignorant and parrot mouthing anti hunter trash talk. In Alaska it is a felony to leave any useable meat from a game animal so your f ed up ideas that hunters are only trophy hunters that just take the heads is a F ing lie ! Let the state troops get a hint of a wasted game animal they will use all state resources to investigate the crime even using a helicopter to get to the crime seen. In Alaska a game violation will cost the hunter nearly more than a person that commits a murder. Even not scraping the meat from the ribs of a game animal will get a charge against a hunt of want and waste leading to not less than 1000 dollar or more of fine and suspension of hunting rights in Alaska for many years. When my own hunters could take all the meat back home then in Anchorage Alaska the meat goes to welfare recipients set up by the states program to donate game meat to low income family's or elderly on low income. So stop the anti hunter lies when you have zero personal information about what happens in Alaska and clients that hire guides.
Your videos are well worth the time. You don't add unnecessary comments for flair. Your voice remains neutral only giving commentary. Please do not stop these terrific videos. We all learn from them. Read a comment once that quite simply stated 'If you can see a grizzly then you are too close'. I feel that statement says it all.
Imagine leaving your family to go kill an animal that's doing what comes naturally only to have a moment of realisation that 'uh oh' should have stayed home.
How sad to watch your friend go through that. If you're going to hunt, learn to be patient. Then, learn to be even more patient. What a stupid f-king decision that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. Rest in peace, Ray.
Seems the idea of flushing a 750-pound Grizzly Bear like a rabbit was a risky idea on the part of a professional hunting guide. This is why this type of hunting of dangerous game draws people to doing it. The hunter and the guide both are responsible for their actions. Both could have been victims of this choice in decisions. This isn’t an unprovoked Bear attack this was an intended one. That makes this story a much different one than the others. Bears may look slow as they lumber along but in actuality are fast enough to catch a fleeing deer and have the agility of a house cat. Adding to their high level of intelligence is a mistake easily made. Bears can detect the smell of a fresh dead carcass from miles away. These two hunters were likely known to the bear because of the time spent waiting for the bear. The Bear stayed hidden for that reason to avoid the two hunters. It also prepared to defend itself if needed. The Hunters just thought they were smarter than a Bear and simply were not.🐇🐻🤔
Sadly the bear had the higher IQ , I wonder if they were imbibing alcohol , here in the south , " Hey Ya'll watch this ! " has been the last words of many a over confident man . This time the bear got Bubba .🐻
Glad this channel exists. Too many people have watched too many cartoons about bears and have an unrealistic view of them. They’re not chubby, friendly, forest dogs. They are wild predators.
Isn't that the truth. Omg when l see those videos of peopIe in Yellowstone trying to get right next to an eIk or bison, or a bear and it never ends weII, l think what is wrong with those peopIe ? This is their own fault. They were hunting the bear to kill it, waste the meat and hang it on the wall. I don’t call this a bear attack, I call it a human attack.
Yea i don't like these guys that are insecure and feel like they gotta prove something! It makes it really hard to feel bad for these guys! The bear did nothing wrong here!
I love the pic of a bear lounging on the rock knowing he's the KING...the bear knew they were there, he just didn't want to be bothered. This was a very detailed story and Scary never disappoints.....thanks
When I was a little kid I watched a scary movie and it made me terrified of werewolves…. I’m an adult now so werewolves is silly but I’ll be damned if grizzly bears don’t do the exact same stuff as the scary werewolves do in movies.
@Jeremy BrocknBlue: From the bears point of view, we are delusionally self-import insane killer apes that encroach on their homes in never ending droves, far exceeding their most horrible nightmares.
Jeremy, that's funny because I did the same after watching I was a Teenage Werewolf. I would be afraid walking home at night that a werewolf would jump out from behind a hedge and attack me. I was lucky and it never happened.
Perhaps somewhere there is a bear channel called Scary Human Attacks telling the story of how this magnificent healthy bear was just minding his own business when two humans wanting to kill and stuff him made him feel threatened, and then he got killed for defending his territory that he was born and raised in. What a sad loss of a beautiful life. Not Ray, the bear.
So right. The ugliness of human behavior. They cant go out in nature and enjoy it. For them its no good unless they kill something. So this weak human goes into the bears domain with the intention of killing it and skinning it to hang on a wall somewhere, and we are supposed to feel sorry for the hunter. Well I dont. All this bullshit about how they eat what they are killing. The point is they are getting pleasure from killing an animal that in many ways is better than them. Skrawny man overpowers animal with firepower. There are many thousands of people who agree with us about this wanton killing.
I don't know much at all about hunting or protecting myself from bears, but I'm pretty sure that staying with my buddy and trying to take on the big bear TOGETHER sounds like a much surer bet.
This is tragic for the bear who was in his natural habitat protecting his food as he should. These guys walked into this situation. They should have let the bear have his food without harm. Why can’t humans just stay away from their home and let them be? It’s so sad.
Don’t mean to be callous, but this is certainly less shocking than many other attacks. As they say, live by the sword, die by the sword. Hopefully his family can come to peace with the attack.
Katy, we're over run with bears. We have to take the surplus out or they all starve. Alaska has the worlds best game managers who are excellent at keeping things balanced so the species stays strong & vibrant.
@@kellykane7586 , Obviously you know nothing about game management, reality, or common sence. Your diversionary tactic dosent change the reality. Predator numbers HAVE to be kept under control or they ALL starve. As for people, im anti abortion. Id bet your pro choice. Typical demonazie hypocrite.
Sorry but I kinda feel it's you reap what you sow you know? Hunting for food or clothing is one thing. Trophies are pure cruelty. And that bear knew he had to defend himself. Thanks for the vid💔🐾🤔
Bear's have thousands of years of developed instinct and primal nature. To ever consider them anything less than a quarry, trophy or just a animal will result in time warp awakening of what Neanderthals and indigenous people learned millennium ago.
This title should be 'The horrendous Men Attack on a Bear'. The bear was minding it's own business, doing what wild animals do, when a man thought his head would make a good trophy on his wall. One man was attacked when encroaching in the bear kill and suffered for it, but I'd say that due to the bear being dead, he suffered more.
in all these stories with armed men....why do none of them do one or both of these 2 points: 1. Take a weapon that is not bolt action(if possible), the time it takes to work the bolt can mean the difference between your life or the bears. 2. Take a large caliber sidearm. In this instance Ray should have pulled his sidearm instead of trying to use the bolt action rifle. You could fire in rapid succession with a revolver and still have your rifle for a 7th shot if needed. All that being said its easy to armchair quarterback situations like this. Im not a hunter nor have i ever been to Alaska. There is always the coulda, shoulda, woulda moments after the fact and hindsight is 20/20 as they say. I will also say that if i ever go into the wilderness of places like Alaska im going armed with the proper weapon....not taking a .22 or even a 9mm into a place like that. .44 magnum or bigger is what i understand it takes to stop a bear of size. Im sure a well placed shot to the eye with a smaller round would do, but im not betting my life on that small of a target.
I see you have your head filled with bull shit that a handgun is more powerful than a large rifle. As a real Alaskan hunting guide, I am telling you these handguns are not more in power then a 30-30 win and the handgun is near worthless against all large Alaskan bears. The bears my clients kill in SE Alaska 2 out of the 3 bears will have handgun bullets in the bears fat and even we find 12-gauge shotgun slugs in the 10 inch of fat layer the bears have between skins and Musel. Then how many people with handguns can keep their wits when a charge of a bear comes from not more than 50 feet and then be able to hit a bears head using a handgun ? I know of a nurse in Alaska that like to call me to tell me of the newest bear victim who always is stunned their handgun failed to stop the bears charge. She will tell me about the bear attack victim losing their scalp or loss of half a face and hands chewed off or bit on the leg that crushed the leg bone. All of this could have been prevented by first knowing how to behave in bear country and next when charged by a bear having at least a 338 win mag rifle to put the absolute end to the bears life on the spot ! If only a outdoor adventure is the goal then the Marlin 336 guide gun in 450 Marlin could be a great gun because the 450 Marlin is loaded to High pressures than the weaker 45-70 I personally always have with me in bear country a Winchester Model 70 in 338 win mag or a CZ 550 in 9.3x62 Mauser which commonly is used in African for all dangerous game animals .
We had a bushlady up here who only had a 22L.R. rifle. Shed built her cabin with small windows a bear couldnt get in through. Just their heads. In blueberry season shed make a pie & set it just inside on a shelf & wait for the bears to come. Shot them in the eye up close for her winter bear meat. Her name was Jan. An amazing old lady tougher than most marines.
@@tristantimothy1004 Anyone to tell such a worst lie like this to think you are being admired you have to be a real mental sick minded moron to say such a lie. And you think you can pass of such a lie ! If you can't man up to tell the truth then don't say anything because sooner or latter all liars get caught in their lies.
Justin, just reread your comment. You have MORE common sence than many Alaskans do. As a 37 year bushman i carry a 454 Casull pistol AND a 45/70 both loaded w super hot bear loads. Been attacked 5 times in all thoes years. Your right, bolts ARE just too damned slow & a scope on a gun is even worse. Learned thoes lessons the hard way on my 1st attack. Guardian Angels saved my butt when a small 8 ft grizzly came after me. Hit him at 10 feet from a 200 yard charge. 375 H&H blew a hole clesn through him & all it did was flip him over backwards & he STILL ran 200 yards before going down. Screw that! Sold that POS 375 & upgraded to the 45/70 lever. I only shot 1 small black bear w the 44. She came up into my stand so fast i barely had time to grab the pistol in my lap & shove it into her chest pushing her back as i fired. Thank God somebody had stolen my old single action & i got the redhawk double as a replacement. Wouldnt have had time to cock the single action it happened so fast. The 340 grain hot slug blew her heart out her spine & flipped her out of my stand. Her teeth were on my nose when the gun went bang. ALL the muzzle blast went INTO her chest. Hardly heard the shot at all gun was shoved tightly into her chest. Made a hell of a mess on the inside thou. Youd make a good Alaskan bushman. Good common sence. Rare in todays world.
@@tristantimothy1004 22lr is the most underrated calibre out there. Raining down semi auto 22 and hoping for a headshot is FAR more effective than missing with a large calibre pistol that cannot be fired rapidly.
What a ghastly attack! One thing people must remember is that bears, big cats, wolves, crocodilians, giant snakes and other predatory creatures have been hunting and adapting their hunting techniques for far longer than us humans have even been in existence. We should never minimize the dangers posed by our carnivorous competitors. They can be quite clever and cunning. Millions of years of primal instinct must be respected.
Absolutely correct.....they are masters in their craft.....cunning, calculated, insanely strong and wicked, wicked fast........most times even with a gun your screwed........people just don't know and hear stories from victims how these traits just baffle humans......we are so pathetic against most predators in nature......go looking fir trouble you'll find it This was a insanely stupid plan as well......and he paid with his life
Well said Joshua. Your words remind me of another video on this channel where a wounded bear lies in ambush for the hunters tracking it. Another great story here guys. As this was 1972 perhaps the tactics in hunting and knowledge about bear behaviour wasn't as good as it is now? Thanks for another excellent video guys.

He went after the bear for a "good taxidermy?" Regretfully, he chose to set out to murder a bear simply for thrill, for sport; a bear who was going about its life not bothering anyone, so he got just what he was asking for. Murdering a bear to have it stuffed to mount on a wall? Pretty sick and twisted bunch of arrogant FOOLS. Actually psychos. Title should be "the horrendous attack on a bear by Ray Caposella."
Totally agree, those guys went after a bear who was just enjoying his day and no threat to anyone until they forced him, and all to have him stuffed and standing in some morons living room. Shame on them
Wow! Have some respect that was someone son, husband and friend. People hunt all the time. It could have been for food! People do eat bear! @@Corks4 Corrie, you are correct, those were a bad choice of words. I have changed them to reflect what I meant. He got what he set out for. When any of embark out to kill in the spirit of murder, or in the spirit of killing for sport or thrill, there is a good chance it will boomerang. People don't understand that animals know things, not the way in which we humans do, but they certainly know when a predator is out to murder them and they now how to fight to the death. When that predator is a bear who is #1 apex predator, it becomes not only foolish but an act of anger, hate. That bear was just living its life. And that hunter decided to match wits with a bear and lost because he actually doesn't understand what he was doing was wrong from the beginning. He was not killing for food, he was not killing for protection, he went out on a killing spree specifically to hunt down and kill a bear for a grotesque decoration (stuffed bear to mount or display somewhere). He chose a bear out there just living his life being a bear, living the life that God had given him. You mention people eat bear, but in this particular instance, this was not the case. The hunter went out in a spirit of murder, and YES that bear knew that. All living beings know when someone is out to murder them and do whatever it takes to escape a predator which sometimes requires the hunted to attack. He was hunting purely for murdering a bear which he stated was to mount on his wall. This is murder and the bear knew that. *The bible is very clear about hunting for sport and equates it to murder "crippling oxen for sport."* Genesis 49:6, NLT: May I never join in their meetings; may I never be a party to their plans. For in their anger they murdered men, and they crippled oxen just for sport. Genesis 49:6, CSB: May I never enter their council; may I never join their assembly. For in their anger they kill men, and on a whim they hamstring oxen.

Seems like too many risks were taken, especially in the terrain described. I think I have learned enough on this channel to know not to approach a bear guarding its well earned lunch, unless you knew EXACTLY where it is at all times... would have been better to take pot-shots from the safety of the plane...!! 😬 Blessings... Wow! I was gettin' amped up and was yelling at Nelson (in my mind) to hurry up and shoot. (I actually laughed at myself because I thought of Troy from Swamp People with his "Choot! Choot!") These bear attacks are always brutal and involve terror and suffering, nothing like the cat attacks we were discussing on the other channel. It also seems, a lot of the time, that somebody who should know better puts themselves into the danger zone and pays the admission with their life. This was another one that had me on the edge of my seat. Thanks for that!
This is a true story as i have met and done business with the taxidermist who also became a guide who lived most of his life in Alaska. He told me his story about this very hunt as we talk about my hunt. It was a very sad to hear about any loss of life. I am a hunter and so was this man he also did taxidermy and is very good at his job. When hunters go out and hire a guide to get an animal they of course look for trophy's as everyone has something different in mind. There job is to get them the best opportunity and yes sometimes mistakes are made. Hunting bears and mistakes don't end well that's why we have this video. A lot of negative comments and i get it people don't like hunters and killing of animals. Most hunters including this man and myself eat all game taken during hunting season. Meat is not left to waste. Often times its given or shared with locals for food and for the guides its there job. Most hunters have great respect for all animals and animals taken during a hunt. Thanks is given for the harvest and is a special moment between you the creator and the animal. Yes i know their are bad hunters too like everything else in life. This man shared his story with me many years ago and i am very surprised to hear it on this video. I can tell you he cried as we spoke as this was not just a guide but his friend too. The point to take from this is hunting or walking around site seeing these animals are very dangerous and anyone can walk into a bear. All people take a risk when in the great outdoors and sometimes your job as a guide is very very dangerous and i have the greatest respect for men and women who do this everyday. Ray new this and made a mistake and nelson and there family's had to live with it. Lots can be said but we were not there and i can tell you hearing it first hand from him gave me chills and a vision of this horror i will never forget it !
I wonder what goes through the minds of ithese troopers, paramedics, and other rescuers who are called time and time again to rescue another person who went outta their way to pick with a bear
Very good recounting of this incident. I am positively impressed. Spruce trees, no pines though. Dense, wet, country that grabs at you, blocks your travel, restricts your sight and wants to keep you in place. Slippery and treacherous. You either love this country or hate it, no middle ground.
Alders aren’t like your typical tree found in the lower 48. They grow in thickets that are so dense that it’s easier most times to walk around the inter-tangled limbs and find passage around them. It’s difficult to travel a direct line unless you plan to cut a path through them. So when I hear in the story that the bear drug the man through the alders that alone sounds like a rather unpleasant experience!
You can bet a bunch of them have seen you if your out in the bush much. If you smell " dirty diapers" ones close enough to jump on you. Usually just a few feet off the trail laying flat & waiting for you to pass so it can go about its business.
@@bakedbeans9546 , many have w/o knowing it. Bears are smart & masters at hiding in plane sight. Alaskas very thickly greened up in the summer & its easy to walk right past one w/o even knowing it. They hear/smell you coming long before youd notice them & they can bounce straight up & over & land flat out like a rug & stay that way until you pass. Their SMELL gives them away. They like to roll in poop & dead animals & they STINK. Most folks dont know this & walk right past totally unaware. Prob too focused on their stupid phones to pay attention.
@@tristantimothy1004 that's interesting and terrifying knowing you can pass them without even knowing, do you know what the probability of being attacked by a bear is or any indicators that they will attack you? @@bakedbeans9546 I know, right? Some people have had more than their fair share of encounters I think. And where there are cubs there’s a sow not far behind. I don’t know if I’m lucky or not 🤷♀️😂
I am not a hunter obviously, by my following question: Could not the guide have climbed a large and tall tree and then made his noises? Being bait for a bear so a client could get a trophy animal seems out-of-the-paygrade of a guide..
So, human beings invaded the bear’s land, the bear reacted as expected, and ended up being killed for the imprudence and foolishness of human beings…Great! 🤦🏻♂️☹️

Hunting isn't that dangerous if you don't do foolish things like trying to run a grizzly off it's kill , I have never hunted bear but would know better than that, crazy risk!
I’m guessing since they have high-powered rifles, they’re protected somewhat. These two did tried this for a trophy to set a world record. I can’t wrap my head around that!
4:32 - Please, please, please. If you see a muzzle crown in this condition DO NOT OPERATE THE FIREARM. Take it to your gunsmith for a fix or a new barrel. Now...if you are in a situation with a bear bearing down on you - do what you need to do and hope for the best.
The rifle the video shows at 4:32 is An AK 47 or a varient of the AK47. And that's not the muzzle crown, it's the flash hider on the end of the muzzle.
Have you done a episode on the giant grizzly in Alaska that was tall enough to look in a 2nd floor window on his hind legs , had attached a ranger , he killed it , found out it had killed 3 or more hikers ? Mounted him in an airport to show people what mite be out there ?
I'm sad for the bear , we need more of them to protect the nature otherwise humans will not hesitate to destroy it. I don't feel bad for the trophy hunters, he deserved it, but I'm happy that other guy survived to tell the story so we can learn some valuable lessons .

WOW how ironic a taxidermy went in the forest to kill & taxidermy a bear, and the bear round up doing the exact same thing to him , you can never underestimate nature or the intelligence of a grizzly bear. R.I.P to the deceased & 🙏 to the family!!!!!
Another good video from you. Your narration is excellent these days, keep up the good work. What's really scary is you're just making a dent in the number of attacks. Looks like you'll have material for quite some time.
When you plan to kill the bear, to turn it into taxidermy, It's fair game if the bear gets you first. I don't have a problem with guns or hunting, it's just the law of the wild as Ray surely knew. I feel bad for the young clueless backpackers, that don't have a gun or bear spray but hike right into a mother Grizzly and her cubs, the Park Rangers, and tons of signage tries to alert them, but they are just young and dumb, and have no idea how savage and Grizzly can be, or mother moose will young, elk, shit even a beaver can bite the living crap out of you, if you get to close to it's home.
I lived 4 years in Alaska. Lived in my RV while panning all over the state. When I first arrived I was inside my rv while parked at Eureka lodge in Glenallen. My rv faced a lake, and I watched a HUGE Grizz swim across the lake, climb up to a parked float plane, put it's gigantic claws UNDERNEATH the door, and pop it open like a pop can! It then went partially into the plane, grabbed a large package (learned it was a section of a freshly killed moose), and it walked right past MY rv--and I had JUST cooked fresh salmon! It stopped, sniffed all around, squinted it's beady eyes at me through a window, and I was FREAKIN' OUT! A large group of men had seen the bear break into the plane, had grabbed guns, and came running out of the lodge's bar. They probably saved my life. My FIRST night in Anchorage was spent on a Fred Meyers parking lot, watching a monstrous Grizz walking down the fricken sidewalk, then checking out parked cars on the lot for food. Welcome to Alaska-land of the midnight sun. AND bears that will suck yer face right off!!
I have listened to all these fascinating stories again and again! I've learned much about these ferocious bears from you, and how to react to save yourself. I have a question in Alaska since there are months of daylight, when do the bears hibernate? Are they acclimated to these months of daylight and dark? I assure you if I'm ever in bear country again, I will have at least two other people with me,and be armed adequately to deal with these attacks! Thank you for your descriptive stories, I've come to recognize your voice as a fascinating storytelling friend is with me.keep up the awesome work!
I'm Surprised with the experience that the guide had that he came up with such a high risk plan.you can never let the time of day running out or a thunderstorm rolling in make you devise a foolish plan that puts your life or your hunters life in Jeopardy. I hate to say it but the Guide kind of had it coming to him.
Even more so I though was the taxidermist had it coming. Fancy trying to snipe and kill an innocent living creature merely to stuff it and win a competition. Pathetic little man.
2018 elk hunting near LaPine OR my son in law lost site of a huge black bear and without warning the bear came from behind thick brush...one shot 24ft away. She was healthy. Ended up being a 5yo according to ODFW.
Man …you definitely gotta be on your game if you’re going to mess with a big bear…if I was a hunting guide no way I’d carry a bolt action rifle…I’d carry a lever action 45/70 or a pump shotgun… with buckshot and slugs … thanks for your videos buddy…
Almost 100% correct. Forget the buckshot. Magnum bear slugs all the way. Right about the much faster lock times on the lever action too. Bolts ARE too damned slow.
@@tristantimothy1004 yeah I only said buckshot for maybe the first shot …to maybe hit the bear at first charge to keep from possibly missing the first shot completely…thanks for your comment…
@@Wootangtw Some Alaska bushman put a magnum duck load in the chamber w all bear slugs behind it. The duck load has a better chance of blowing the bears nose off up close compleatly immobilizing the bear. Then the slugs for the body kill shot. If the bears close enough it acts like a slug through the head anyway. Personally i carry a 45/70 & a 454 Casull backup. Never needed more than 1 shot with the marlin. YET! BEEN attacked 5 times in my 37 years in the bush. Bears all dead & im not.
Jeez what a mess. Putting yourself downwind of a Grizzly in the name of a hunting trophy seems ludicrous to me but I still feel bad for Ray and that he had to experience that kind of terror in death.
The bear was just trying to do it's own thing and they constantly provoked it,they should have just left him alone. However,it might have made a predatory attack later
The guide should have known better. The whole scenario was a bear attack waiting to happen. If you can not see a large grizzly on a cache, you get out of there. Not being able to keep your eye on a grizzly is a bad situation.
If you DO see a bear on a cache, it's a bad deal, also. It will fight to the death.

One of the scariest things about this channel is how many videos you’re able to make about bear attacks.
Seriously!
And believe it or not there are people on the internet who will tell you bears never attack anyone
Right…. And imagine how many more are to come….

Pizzly and Polar bear too
@@Alaska_Gal Grizzly bears can even be white or black. The distinguishing characteristics is the hump on its shoulder region. The black bears don't have these, only Grizzly, which can be any shade of brown, white, or black, even greyish, all have the distinct hump.

I'm pretty confident that getting a Trophy was the only drive these 2 had.

Exactly

This was my exact thought

in all these stories with armed men....why do none of them do one or both of these 2 points: 1.
If only a outdoor adventure is the goal then the Marlin 336 guide gun in 450 Marlin could be a great gun because the 450 Marlin is loaded to High pressures than the weaker 45-70
I personally always have with me in bear country a Winchester Model 70 in 338 win mag or a CZ 550 in 9.3x62 Mauser which commonly is used in African for all dangerous game animals .
We had a bushlady up here who only had a 22L.R. rifle. Shed built her cabin with small windows a bear couldnt get in through. Just their heads.

*The bible is very clear about hunting for sport and equates it to murder "crippling oxen for sport."*
Genesis 49:6, NLT: May I never join in their meetings; may I never be a party to their plans. For in their anger they murdered men, and they crippled oxen just for sport.
Genesis 49:6, CSB: May I never enter their council; may I never join their assembly. For in their anger they kill men, and on a whim they hamstring oxen.

Me too, choot it, choot it!!😂🤣
@@anneperry9014 Hahaaaa!!
Lol, Troy with his little .22,lol.he's funny.
Thank you!

I bet! Thank you for your comment!
Super job on the bear story.Sad for sure but exciting to listen to. Thank you.
Thank you!
I wonder what goes through the minds of ithese troopers, paramedics, and other rescuers who are called time and time again to rescue another person who went outta their way to pick with a bear
So the bear was minding its own business and these guys were trying to kill it?
Don't feel sorry for him!
Why don't you go close to a brown bear and mind your own business and see what happens
The bear was doing nothing to these hunters. He should not been shot for just a “trophy”. I hate hunters who kill innocent animals for trophies.
@@dianemarrah3504 exactly. It's disgusting
Another great, scary beat attacks video. Thank you, Mike
Thank Mike! Take care!
I believe this probably skewerd him a few times
Oh my goodness. This wasn't a smart thing to do. Rest in peace to Ray.
I live in the matsu valley: this was very close to me. Been here over 20 years and have yet to see a bear 🤷♀️
You can bet a bunch of them have seen you if your out in the bush much. If you smell " dirty diapers" ones close enough to jump on you. Usually just a few feet off the trail laying flat & waiting for you to pass so it can go about its business.
Wow really? I assumed everyone up there would have encountered bears
There's a load of videos on youtube of huge bears passing hikers in America without harming anyone and I always wonder why they don't attack them
@@bakedbeans9546 I know, right? Some people have had more than their fair share of encounters I think. I’ve seen lots of evidence though: bear scat in our yard, garbage and can destroyed etc. Local post office had a flyer up about 2 brown bear cubs a stones throw from my house. And where there are cubs there’s a sow not far behind. I don’t know if I’m lucky or not 🤷♀️😂
You should do a couple of stories of Cape buffalo attacks.
Black death
Excellent idea!
Oh dear, poor Ray.
Another EXCELLENT video ?
YAY !
Thank you ....
Have a great weekend everyone !
You too and be safe!
I am not a hunter obviously, by my following question: Could not the guide have climbed a large and tall tree and then made his noises? Being bait for a bear so a client could get a trophy animal seems out-of-the-paygrade of a guide..
Better idea
This is my favorite story you’ve covered. It’s a horrible one but I can visualize every single thing that happened. A true tragedy
That hunter was too close while observing. Should not have got that close untill everyone is fully prepared and ready for the kill.
So, human beings invaded the bear’s land, the bear reacted as expected, and ended up being killed for the imprudence and foolishness of human beings…Great! 🤦🏻♂️☹️
Terrible tragedy.
You have a great voice for this. Very enjoyable to listen to
Thank you! Take care!
I just don’t understand hunting for sport and not for food. Just a sad situation all around. One innocent life taken and another life lost.
Yeah, I've always been a meat hunter and have never understood trophy hunting. I know that there is a necessary aspect to maintenence of numbers
Bear: "I need ID".
Ray caposella: "I don't have any".
Bear: "Get the hell out then".
Caposella: "I'm staying. I want to stay".
Bear: "I asked you to get the hell out".
Caposella: "No"
Bear: "Ok. You aske d for. I'm the boss"
Thanks scary bear attacks, another great video; so sorry Ray lost his life to a very dangerous sport HUNTING ! God bless his loved ones!!
Hunting isn't that dangerous if you don't do foolish things like trying to run a grizzly off it's kill , I have never hunted bear but would know better than that, crazy risk!
The bear had every right to defend itself.
Thank you!
I'm so glad your channel popped up, I'm addicted! New sub!
Thank you!
Shame the bear didn’t get both of them
Shame one dosent get you. Youve GOT to be a demonazie.
Very good video, but so horrible how things can change in an instant with a bear.
Thank you!
The arrogance of these people is staggering. What do they expect to happen when they invade a wild animal's territory?
Exactly . Cruel, disrespectful and arrogant people .
I’m guessing since they have high-powered rifles, they’re protected somewhat. These two did tried this for a trophy to set a world record. I can’t wrap my head around that!
I love this channel ! It scares the crap out of me!
Lol thank you!
I have actually stood by that giant stuffed bear in the Anchorage airport in fact!
Quite a welcome to Alaska :)
Lord i can't recall where it happened, but it was all over the internet lol . Thought I would ask .
I'm sad for the bear , we need more of them to protect the nature otherwise humans will not hesitate to destroy it. I don't feel bad for the trophy hunters, he deserved it, but I'm happy that other guy survived to tell the story so we can learn some valuable lessons .
These terrible cruel humans could've already "destroyed the nature" if they wanted to.
This is the reason I am not going hiking in the woods, that is where the bears go to shit.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this channel- Don’t poke the bear !! Hearing about the pain endured by any bear victim my heart breaks for them. It is a nightmare! immeasurable, unfathomable, God rest their souls.
THIS CHANNEL IS GREAT 👍
I LOVE YOUR CONTENT ! 💕
Thank you and take care!
@@scarybearattacks ♥️‼️
Hunting wild animals just for trophies should not be allowed. That is disgusting and also hunt with traps.
Another great video brother...sorry about ray... It's a dangerous game to play.
Thank you!
Oh he made "something happen" alright. Just NOT with the result he expected. Bear just defending its cache.
Oh yes! Thank you! Give me suggestions and I will start researching!
@@scarybearattacks Will do.
Great stuff man keep them coming. If you put them out, they (Subs) will come!
Thank you my friend! Will do!
These people are psychopaths. Who kills another living creature just to keep it as a trophy?
AND bears that will suck yer face right off!!
hunting for meat is acceptable. trophy hunting bothers me greatly. you have an animal at the pinnacle of it's existence. let it be.
Thank you very much!
There's no doubt about it, fooling these Bears is mostly out of the realm of possibilities and guess most brave souls find that out too late !!
Are they brave? Arrogant, I would have thought, with scant regard for anything else.
It’s so sad that all the most incredibly beautiful places in the world are so dangerous!
Wow! He is lucky!
@Tommy Wooten thank you my friend!
Love your narrative bro...Rock On
Thank you!
Jeez what a mess. Putting yourself downwind of a Grizzly in the name of a hunting trophy seems ludicrous to me but I still feel bad for Ray and that he had to experience that kind of terror in death.
*Up wind
Down wind means that the bear's scent is traveling to them
Ray got what he deserved. Would have been nice if the bear lived and mounted Ray's head in his cave.
Thank you for your stories as I love bears and respect them. There nothing like a scary story to Wind down
Thank you!
The bear was just trying to do it's own thing and they constantly provoked it,they should have just left him alone. However,it might have made a predatory attack later
You know you’ve done it wrong when your rifle is now a club🤣🤣🤣 thanks for another great video.
Lol very true! Thank you!
