"This GPU clearly can't handle this game" Well, the PS4 also couldn't.
I played Apex on a 1gb Radeon HD 7770, and I was hitting about 120 medium settings 1080p resolution, and other game titles like overwatch at pretty similar fps but mine was a bit higher. Granted it was overclocked but tbh if you're playing on a 5+ year old gpu you should overclock it because you aint gonna keep it for long anyways. Bought myself an rx 580 and can pretty much run any newer title 120+ fps
@@thefreemonk6938 depends on which 4gb vram card we're talking about. I had an rx 470 and it ran my games (ac odyssey probably the heaviest game i had then) on reasonable settings (med-high on around 40-60 fps depending on the game)
I loved this card. I had one. I bought a Gigabyte HD 6870 1GB that refused to cooperate with my Phenom II X4 965. NO OC. DDR3 1600 running at 1333 CL8. It was fast for it's time. But instead of upgrading to bulldozer I bought a better GPU hoping that would give me more time to upgrade the Phenom and it did. After the 6870 went wonky 3 RMAs Gigabyte finally sent me a 7850 2GB. On paper and in synthetics the 6870 was faster than the 7850 but in actual use the 7850 was the same speed if not faster in most titles, had better DX 11 and 12 support and had an extra gig of memory that made it a superior card all in all. I was so happy after installing it. I played games for a week straight taking breaks to eat and sleep and that was about it. I called Gigabyte to thank them and also I was ballsy enough to ask why not a 7870. I remember the tech said that the 7870 was an actual leap from the 7850 and was way faster than a 6870 so they made the call to give me the 7850 due to all the downtime I dealt with and not wanting to RMA yet another 6870. They gave me 3 all total and none of them worked with my PC. Turns out the memory staying on and overheating was to blame but that is an entirely diff thing. The AMD HD 7850 was an incredible and inexpensive mid range card that punched above its price class. I miss mine, if I had it I would have held on to. Sentimental like that. I usually keep things that I get directly from a manufacturer. If I can ever track down my Friend Mike that borrowed it I would certainly send him money to send it back but so far I have been unable to. Mike, if you read this please get in touch!
Console optimization is just way better. That being said, the PS4 is using dynamic render scaling targeting 60fps. It doesn't render at close to 1080p most of the time.
Most of these games can be played on my PS5. My PC I use just for PC-only games like League/WarCraft 3/StarCraft 2/maybe AOE4 one day. I don't see a point in benchmarking games that I could buy on my PS5, but yeah, I'm using an HD 7850 2GB with a pair of Xeon 5160s right now and they are rocking those games (aside from WarCraft 3 Reforged which refuses to open for some reason, but that's Blizzard's fault for rushing the release then sacking the classic team staff). Maybe I am just getting old, but I prefer to play games on my PS5. If the companies found a creative way to get proper Aon of Strife games / RTS games onto the PS5, then I'd probably just not play PC games at all. Btw, this card can support a 3440x1440p monitor at 100Hz over DisplayPort. The specs obviously didn't list it, but this card has Eyefinity support, so that's probably why it can handle this resolution. It does struggle to play the 1440p video, but that is due to the video encoding not being able to go beyond 1080p with this card. It can game just fine (with the games I mentioned) at 1440p. Obviously StarCraft 2 is unable to support widescreen, because again, Blizzard are evil.
Overwatch gameplay make me think that the game can run with no problems with optimizations at 85-100 fps in ps4 but idk what did they do to make the game go like 45 fps sometimes
yeah i bought a 6950, which was like 20ish% faster than this. it was on another league compared to a 8800gt, of course. it lasted me 4 years still being plenty good, at which point i sold it for the same price i bought it for (yay inflation!)
Should have used the nimez drivers, youd see an uplift in some of these titles, and be able to play a lot of modern titles if the dx12 version is supported😊
If you overclock this GPU, I think you can squeeze significant amount of performance out of it. And the best part is that the cooler is very ready for it. %99 utilization and °47? That’s very cool.
the thing is that it's actually overclocked (standard GPU clock is 860 MHz and this model has 1000 MHz). although these HD 7000 loved to be overclocked and it could even push 1200 on Core
So many people complain about the noise of the PS4. Am I the only one who has a silent one? I have an original version PS4 (phat, not slim, not pro) and it is very quiet.

Meanwhile on PS4, it runs at 60fps with a dynamic 1080p (reduces resolution on horizontal axis) and hits 60fps most of the time with a *Jaguar CPU* and 8GB of unified memory.
The PS4 reduces the resolution by a lot to reach that to be fair. Apparently it goes as low as 960x1080. Still though, that's some crazy good optimization.

I looked your videos back then for choosing PC. I don't comment or like content creators on youtube or other apps, but you're one of the people who does his work properly and good. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much! I'm glad I could help :)
Now I understand why putting cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 running in 1080p wasn't a great idea
Hi Kryzzp :)
Nice to see u testing the ps4 gpu
At first i thought of getting a ps4, but I chose a gaming laptop instead for studies and some gaming😉
Guten Tag bubba

Hallo bubba, deine Mutter ist fett
@EndHunter h
This reminds me of my HD 8790M back in 2021, my first actual dedicated GPU, even if it was a laptop one, and at the time I got it it was already beyond discontinued
Yes, it took until just 3 years ago for me to finally get a computer with a dedicated GPU, that's just how it was out there for some of us
Back then i had Sapphire HD 7750 for a couple of month then switch to Sapphire HD 7850, also with an FX 6300.. Kinda perfect combination in 2012..with Far Cry 3 and GTA V year later,i really had a blast!
This is my setup now since I don't game as much as I used to, it runs the games of that era nicely.
Can't believe Overwatch 2 runs at 120fps on a 10 year old GPU and in Nintendo Switch is 30fps lmao
The problem is VRAM
No 😂 the PS4 it's cpu limited
The 7850 was my first GPU Modell :) I upgrade from a r7 250 and was stunned by the performance upgrade. Miss those times.
Tommorow this video is 1 year old

meanwhile CoD MW 2 prices in my country: 1.099 bucks
It’s crazy how console optimization can make most games run better than this
yea cyberpunk😂😂😂
well it's super easy to optimize for console since they all have the same hardware
It's amazing how long Xbox One 2013 and PS4 lasted. It makes me appreciate it more that I was a console gamer for 10+ years and didn't have to spend thousands of dollars just to keep up with games on PC. These days you can make any game run 60+ fps at 1080P with a thousand-dollar PC. When you think about it, saving up for a high-end PC really isn't that hard. Be smart financially and save for a year or 2. Your patience will reward you in the long run. Anyone can literally afford a good gaming PC with patience.
This actually was my GPU for like 6 years or so but tbh I was really happy to switch to Nvidia, everything was just way more stable. With that being said, AMD seems to be winning next gen pretty hard (at least in value) so I might switch back in the near future, but right now I'm very happy with my 3070.
Newer amd is much better at stability than it used to be, my rx 6600 is pretty stable for me.
@@Pividol I have a 4090 myself but the 6600 is amazing value. Underrated card imo.
@@pengu6335 230 dollars will get a very good 1080p gaming experience
It's definitely not worth switching back over the stability has NOT improved, I switched back for a build for my lil sis and it killed her whole rig I bought her
Well, if only driver issues wasn’t still a thing in 2023 with AMD.
I called the new Valorant character Hanzo when he came out 😂
Now iam first kryzzp bro . good benchmark 7850
Thank you 😁💪
My man bought a ps4 before 10 years just for this video, now that's real dedication!
it'd be interesting to see how it performs with modded drivers but i understand its a hassle. excellent video as always
Almost never makes a difference
a little back they released modded drivers cause the 7000 series drivers were from like 2019 and couldnt even launch half the newer titles, then AMD released new drivers after the modded drivers and these are actually better then the Nimez drivers.TBH I think AMD was pissed they released modded Nimez drivers so they decided to update them for the 7000 series lol
@@kyles8524 the "new" AMD drivers are exactly the same as the previous one, just a rename so games think it's recent so nice copium you got there
@@clear9104 so I guess the rename caused the drivers to somehow be larger, and increase game performance in older AAA titles by 15% and able to launch new AAA titles? Interesting...lol I own this card so your nonfactual opinion means nothing
@Scarlet Dani wut?
I remember watching your videos back in the days
That is one good looking gpu
Wow what a rare sight. A HIS branded card. I haven't seen one for a long time.

you dont have to upgrade your hardware as frequent anymore, which it very nice
Better to watch with audio muted if you came here only by the curiosity to see how this GPU still performs. And it's impressive, pretty playable if you are normal person.
"This GPU clearly can't handle this game"
Well, the PS4 also couldn't.
As long as games are still being released for the ps4 and xbox one, older cards have nothing to worry about
Ehh, lack of driver support and optimizations make these a hard pass for newer games!
@@zWORMzGaming maybe not all 'old' cards xD but id say anything from polaris or the 9xx and above series cards are beyond safe for now
@@bluengold3443 They are already struggling like hell. Even 4 GB VRAM is not enough these days.
Video idea : Testing A XBOX 360 GPU in late 2022 Part 2 or any consoles GPU that perform same like the console did.
When you realise PS4 plays MW2 at 1080p not 720p using FSR.
Console optimization is just way better. That being said, the PS4 is using dynamic render scaling targeting 60fps. It doesn't render at close to 1080p most of the time.
1:20 "and jet engine too got me" killed 🗿🗿
I still have the 1GB version (Sapphire Dual-X). It's more than enough for high refresh rate experience in e-sports titles.
for some e-sport titles yes, not all.

Thanks for watching 😃
We back at Strange GPU's YES!
Memory issue, only 2 Gb. Try 7850 with 4GB and you will be amazed - above 40 fps native and with fsr it's almost 60.
The video is decent, but it would have been a lot more appropriate to also use an FX8120 since that's a lot closer to what the PS4 had.
What is that krysp driving🤣🤣😅8:40
Best part of this GPU is that you can get them for $20 on FB marketplace and ebay.
Can We appreciate that He gave his number to the American government to get us footage of MW2
Bro borrowed "HIS" gpu 😆
bruh this gpu is dabomb. never knew that this gpu was this amazing in older games.
Thanks that was my first graphics card ;D
Today I played with this cyberpunk and I've had stable 30 FPS on 1440p + FSR. Mine is going strong.
my brother had 2 hd 6950's in crossfire, and he couldnt even play apex legends when he tried
Came for the PS4 GPU history, stayed for the gameplay.
I bought this on release, did very well against the mighty 8800gt
yeah i bought a 6950, which was like 20ish% faster than this. it was on another league compared to a 8800gt, of course. it lasted me 4 years still being plenty good, at which point i sold it for the same price i bought it for (yay inflation!)
@@Bloodtax Yeah totally. I think it can be pushed far more
@@Joseph-oq5fz i agree but this is a good safe clock that anyone can achieve, honestly any gcn cards before rx was able to oc very well
VRMS on these cards don't give much room. I killed one years ago overclocking it, using the same mentality you're using "47 degrees @ 99%".

So many people complain about the noise of the PS4.
Am I the only one who has a silent one?
I have an original version PS4 (phat, not slim, not pro) and it is very quiet.
My favourite GPU in 2012. Great Video
This 10 year old gpu runs better then my Radeon 560x lmao
I see that esports still goes fine for this, and others in 720p 30 frames haha
Modern games that rely on TAA looks horrible on 720p it seems. It even makes 1080p look like a blur fest.
Older games looked decent even on 480p and 720p with msaa looked sharp and decent enough on old games.
8:04 yea you’re right there. But this struggles with cyberpunk at 720p 30fps. Ps4 slim struggles at 1080p 30fps. Meanwhile ps4pro playing games at 4K (idk about cyberpunk tho). I think in most cases ps4 and especially ps4 is way faster
Hey Kryzzp nice video by the way ... but can you test league of legends next video with another games pls .. like testing GTA - Valorant - overwatch - and then league of legends and more games but put league of legends with them pls ... And Thank You For Listening To Me ❤❤
Nice video. Waiting for "PS4 Pro GPU" video 👀
RX 470
Was literally curious about this GPU today. It's crazy what console optimisation can do. MWII runs at such inconsistent FPS in this video with the 7850 and one of the best CPUs and 32GB of RAM.
Funny didn’t the PS4(non pro) limit fps to 30 with the exception of a few games?
Nice ty for brining overwatch back!
Speaking facts, gta5 its quite phenomenal game with some i5 4x series and 1050 you are good to go on high with solid 60fps all the time, and game still looks up to date
My first 'proper' GPU .. memories 😭
So this is why my ps4 sounds like a jet
Had a HD7870 from Sapphire, amazing card at the time.
It's funny that actual PS4 can run cyberpunk 2077 quite well and playable compare to this twin of a graphics card.

Actually Impressed , some of these games cost more than that gpu in todays price. Somewhat holds up.
Also the PS4 GPU is GCN2 based (while the 7850 is GCN1 "Pitcairn Pro" based). So it sits between Bonaire & Hawaii (closer to Bonaire).
This shows that the lastest smartphones (which have a Ps4 gpu in specs) could run most latest games on the go.
