    This captivate me when I was a kid. Because it was unusual, and not just for the black and white... I guess it was the dark vibe of the song mixed with the crazy style of an old cartoon (everything fits so well). Not creepy at all (to me at least), it was just so fascinating to see.

      It aired primarily late night on Cartoon Network but it did occasionally pop out during the day.
      It was policy in the original days to only air black and white at night because Ted Turner had his issues with black and white. There were some attempts to bring black and white to daytime but they never took.

    I can't help but wonder if kids, even back in the 90s, had any idea who Betty Boop was. I suppose every kid would recognize her from her cameo in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," but aside from that, how many were actually familiar with her?

    • @evainfrenchli
      @evainfrenchli 4 года назад +5

      Being born in 95, I knew who she was, but that could be for many reasons. That could be because I liked watching Popeye and probably saw a Betty boop cartoon. My sister did have a betty boop blanket with her name on it. Or I could’ve learned about her watching ToonHeads. It’s just one of things I just always knew about

    • @JP-1990
      @JP-1990 3 года назад +8

      Back in the 90's and early 00's, both Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. deliberately paid a lot of reverence to old cartoons like Looney Toons, Tom & Jerry, Tex Avery, etc. I'd suspect plenty of kids then, even tangentially, knew who Betty Boop was by virtue of the fact that they knew of the era of cartoons she came from.
      As far as kids today are concerned, I'm willing to bet a lot of kids found out about her through the Cuphead game.

    La mejor epoca de cartoon network sin duda alguna.

    • @hache-hiwattan7848
      @hache-hiwattan7848 8 лет назад +4

      Nostalgia o no 90-2007 fue una epoca muy memorable de los dibujos para niños. Desde Cartoon hasta Nickelodeon (Sin olvidar Fox kids). Hoy en dia de series buenas solo seria Cartoon el que se levanta, que Nickelodeon solo son shows con actores poco interesantes y Disney es la misma onda de explotar sus Sagas famosas (Y shows actuados que no son nada llamativos para mi).

    • @fenomozo9108
      @fenomozo9108 8 лет назад

      Disney tiene Gravity Falls y otros shows interesantes, el hecho de que muchos no los disfruten y prefieran los shows antiguos es simplemente porque ya no tienen edad para emocionarse con series animadas.

    • @hache-hiwattan7848
      @hache-hiwattan7848 8 лет назад +2

      La edad no es un papel muy importante en la calidad de las series que se transmiten. Jovenes y viejos pueden verlo sin problemas (Yo aun sigo viendo). Pero la calidad en el contenido de estas series disminuyo, claro aun hay series interesantes y creativas como las que explicaste. Pero ese numero es menor que antes. La calidad de contenido es de menor importancia para estas empresas y su enfoque es lo que venda y enganche a los tele videntes. Nickelodeon es el ejemplo mismo de ello (Puedes acaso comparar la robot adolescente con ese breadwinners o Rock band en calidad de entretenimiento?). No puedes. La evidencia esta ahi, Disney comenzó con el furor de esas series actuadas y como funciona la competencia, Nickelodeon intentara lo mismo diezmando la calidad de sus series. Eso pasa en toda Industria de entretenimiento y como toda, la de los Dibujos tuvo su época dorada. Pero paso. Nada mas.

    • @fenomozo9108
      @fenomozo9108 8 лет назад +2

      Hache-Hi Wattan Pues a mí me parece que shows como Hora de Aventura, Steven Universe, Gumball, Un Show Más, Over the Garden Wall, Gravity Falls, Clarence, Rick and Morty, Young Justice, Avatar y otros más son prueba suficiente de que las series animadas siguen teniendo una calidad excelente, y en algunos casos siendo mejores que otros shows clásicos (sí, acabo de decir eso). Y si bien es cierto que nickelodeon se volvió mierda pura, es curioso que no menciones a Cartoon Network, que hoy en día sigue teniendo shows interesantes y frescos. Y sí, sé que me vas a decir "pero CN tiene shows mierda como Tío Grandpa o Teen titans go", es cierto, pero también hay que tener en cuenta que esos shows son minoría, al igual que en el pasado cuando CN tenía shows mierda como Niño ardilla o Chowder, pero seguían siendo pocos shows los que eran malos
      .
      Tal vez tengas razón en eso que dices de que un show puede ser disfrutado por niños y adultos por igual, pero también es cierto que las críticas a las cosas nuevas casi siempre se dan por nostalgia. Tanto es así que para evaluar un show siempre tienen que estar comparándolo con los de antes.
      Eso de que la época dorada de las series animadas acabó me parece muy exagerado. Yo diría que incluso los shows de ahora están abriéndose camino por lugares que los shows de antes no habían recurrido. Un universo tan rico y con giros argumentales sombríos en un show de comedia como Hora de Aventura es algo que nunca se había escuchado. O temas como por ejemplo la sexualidad eran imposibles de tocar en los 90 y principios de los 2000, pero ahora esos temas tienen cabida en shows como Steven Universe o Avatar la leyenda de Korra.

    • @hache-hiwattan7848
      @hache-hiwattan7848 8 лет назад +3

      De nuevo, mi punto sigue en pie. La cantidad es menor, nunca di ejemplo con CN por que como dije en mi primer comentario, ahi aun hay series que mantienen la esencia creativa (Aun asi estan usando el recurso de reciclar series clasicas, claro es el ejemplo de las chicas superpoderosas). Claro que puede existir series mejores que las clásicas (No veo nada de malo en eso). Las series anteriores ya estaban abriéndose en temas poco tocadas en la sociedad, (Un gran ejemplo es invasor Zim y su critica social, las Chicas superpoderosas también tenían momentos así). Dio una puerta a las series modernas en temas mas interesantes y olvidados. Mi punto es que, como todo Industria, sea del cine, de los videojuegos. La de la series infantiles tuvo su época dorada, eso no evita que aun haya series buenas y de calidad, solo que a menor cantidad. Eso es lo que pasa ahora, nada mas. ¿Puede volver haber otra época así?. Posiblemente, pero las series clásicas han dado inspiración y punto de partida a las series modernas como Gunball y Un Show mas, eso no tiene nada de malo. Pero series como Avatar, Castores cascarrabias, Mansión foster, Rugrats, Los thornberrys, Samurai Jack, Jhonny bravo, El diario de ginger (Que puso una vista firme desde la perspectiva de una mujer adolecente de una forma muy artistica), La robot adolecente, Proyecto Lyoko, Kenan y Kel y muchisimos mas. Han quedado en el corazon de las personas no por nostalgia en general, sino por la calidad de sus shows. Las series que mencionaste tambien les puede pasar eso sin problema, por que son buenas series solo que hoy en dia, hay menos de esas "Buenas series".

      Like I said in the above post, Betty Boop DID air on CN on Late Night Black and White.

      Gumball is a great cartoon, just reminiscent. When CN came out, Popeye and other cartoons of that era were all they showed, and it introduced me to the greatest period of animation.

    Yeah I used to record this track off the TV with my cassette recorder and wired lav mic and it sounded pretty good for the time. Didn't have any other way as this TV was connected straight to the cable with no box.

      A microphone is fancy. 😁 I could only record the radio to tape. Ended up recording Dr. Demento. 🤪🙃

    • @coondogtheman
      @coondogtheman 2 года назад +1

      @@ZephyrAvoxel I recorded tons of stuff off the radio when I was young, often just recording from the radio speaker to the mic on the tape recorder. Sometimes it didn't sound that bad. That ended when I went to digital and found devices with FM radio built-in and can record. If I had to I could just hook my Sony digital voice recorder to my radio by a cable and record straight to stereo MP3.

    This Groovy actually got me really interested in Soul Coughing later on. After listening to their other stuff; this is REALLY tame. Still though, Soul Coughing is awesome, and Cartoon Network is also awesome for showing it to me.

    This is the reason why people say nothing beats the classics.
    It's great and easily enjoyable. Too bad most cartoons nowadays don't make things as easy to enjoy as this.
