I've just recently purchased this multi cutter and first impressions on the vibration, it is dangerous held it for 1min to test the speeds and felt horrific, plus the gear box felt like it was getting hot when I haven't put it under load, as a possibility do I have a faulty batch?

I walked into my local festool dealer to buy this very machine! After a 10 minute conversation with the tool guy he enlightened me to the fact fein do in fact make this machine for festool! I’ve not heard otherwise since. I saved myself £250.

You should have a look into Ryobi. They offer three versions. Most recent is rather normal like most versions here. The older offerings have either a tiltable head or the one I have has a removable and replaceable head. This allows the head to be put on in any of four directions. I love that feature because I can have the trigger in the most comfortable position while I work on the side the work needs to be at. Also helps reduce the depth the battery requires if turned sideways.

I’ve moved from fein multimaster to dewalt 18v and this year onto the festool. Is it worth twice what the others cost? No of course not but it’s very good in comparison. Bit less noise, much less vibration than the dewalt and certainly cuts quicker. Once the blade prices come down I’ll be happier.

Don't waste your money. I had one of these and sold it. The accessories attempt to add a bit of precision to the tool, but in practice you can get same results if handheld, plus if precision is critical you're probably better off using a different tool. It is a Fein under the skin. My unit broke and was repaired under warranty after a fairly modest usage. I have a simple Bosch now which has taken more abuse and is MUCH cheaper. Festool make some exceptional tools. This isn't one of them.

Festool tools are a bit like VW vans. Yes they are of a better quality, but they don't do the job twice as good as their rivals but are more than twice the price. If money was no object, would I have Festool? NO, I'd have an Aston Martin and pay to have a different supermodel sit in it every day while I drive around. Cheers for the video.

You are quite powerful to do such demo as you have all these expensive tools on hands Festool is quite creative in their accessories sets and it's a room for savings when combined with Fein tool. The pads keep falling off and I have 2 multitools from different manufacturers and the problem is the same. Do you have any tip for me? Or any idea what can I do wrong? I tried on flat surfaces, corners, edges...
I use all of my velcro pads with a piece of woodblock instead of the multitool and it's pi***** me off.

Seems I'm not alone in thinking Festool are way overpriced. Even as a DIY-er and someone who doesn't mind spending good money on tools (I bought a DeWalt track saw just to do my kitchen but has turned out to be one of my most used tools), i couldn't justify the price hike and I'm not sure the quality is all it's cracked up to be. There's a Canadian RUclipsr who goes under the name of AvE who strips down stuff and gives his impression of it. He stripped down a Festool track saw and basically said it was junk apart from a decent well balanced armature. That was the only good thing he said about it. I've yet to be convinced otherwise.

That same Canadian thought the plug -it system to be a gimmick but anyone who runs corded FT tools would say otherwise.
AVE draws on many things , language, humour and knollege but he has got things wrong before and and saying the TS55 is shit shows his lack of knollege when it clmes to plunge cut saws.
