I think I speak for everyone here when I say... "Mr Coxon, we F***ing love you!" - thanks for all the tunes & all the inspiration! ...and though *you* won't remember it, I met you in 1995 at the Leadmill (post blur gig aftershow in the small bar), talked about your guitar stickers etc, you were as humble and gracious then as you always appear on video.
I respect and admire lots of guitarists but Graham is the one guy that inspires me to pick up a guitar and just be creative, think outside the box and most of all, just have fun doing it. Blur are a great band, so many layers. Albarn as a pure songwriter is up there with anybody for me (Graham is a fine writer in his own right of course), then Graham's very creative guitar playing with those songs just create something unique. Alex James might also be the most underrated bassist. He had so many great melodic bass line's that somehow blended with Graham's playing perfectly, but in a unique way.
Just listened to Oily Water...the guitar and bass parts on that tune are awesome..I remember zoning out to that tune while stoned out of my tiny mind lol!
Always loved Graham’s originality and his eccentricities too.... Love too the way he doesn’t get caught up in the intricacies of imagined perfection and just plays from his heart, his gut and his awesome sense of humour.. Thanks for this TPS
We just like it when people are authentic. I’ve met guys who do have the massive egos and are totally up their own arse and are just as loveable for it, because it’s genuinely, wholeheartedly them. Mick here. :0)
No Distance Left to Run was probably my first real breakup song... such a beautiful, plaintiff piece of music. Such a privilege to hear it in raw form!
I’ve played in many bands but never learned the guitar. What Graham said about being in a group and just ‘doing it’ I can relate to. There’s a creativity to coming up with a part that fits free of muso correctness.
Hello Oisin. Probably not. If anything exists for pure cost and convenience, it’s unlikely that Dan and I will engage with it. Individual pedals sound better, they’re more reliable, they have far less in built obsolescence and you can just swap them in and out as you like. Always changing, always adapting. Great quality single sound stompboxes will still sound great in 20 years, won’t be dead because the firmware dies and will probably be worth the same or more than you paid for them. And they sound so much better to us. There concludes the case for the defence m’lud. :0)
This is the perfect mix of a couple of guys who can perfectly/ nerdy articulate the way pedals affect the sound of a guitar through an amp; juxtaposition a guy that describes things in strictly poetic terms, and also a lot of fidgeting. Lots of fidgeting.
Yeah! Another great one guys. I love the little guest riff appearances. This time... "All Your Love" at 25.35. Who'd expect Graham to throw in a bit of Bluesbreakers!
I was grinning from ear to ear when he started the Parklife riff! Awesome....Graham revived my interest in guitar playing after being bored to tears by the endless procession of Yngwie and VH wannabies in the early 90s...Oily Water would have been nice though!
Man, watched the first video with Graham twice. I didn't listen to blur growing up. I remember hearing Girls and Boys when is was 14 and my best friend convincing my impressionable self that listening to blur was stupid... I forcibly ignored them. I mean forcibly... ... well after seeing the first video, I finally indulged. Fucking hell man... why did I listen to that guy? We're not even friends anymore :p Thanks for properly introducing my ears guys. You guys are the best.
Never really got into Blur when I was younger. Was a teenager at the time that Brit Pop all started, and had recently started playing the guitar, and it was all about Metallica and Pantera for me. Certainly mellowed a little bit now, but never did revisit the stuff that was around at that time. Proper interesting chappie though and some immense sounds!
Sneaky sneaky, you had a whole other show recorded! A whole other board where he unleashes...what ever sort of animal you release. And RAT NUTTERS. There are an absolute education. I'd love to see way more of that building process with him, seems awesome. Can't believe there is even more!
I love how you get Graham coxson on, and he has no idea how to use pedals, and just makes a munted noise, but at least gets really interesting sounds ! He is so refreshing in this Internerd GAS, demo shit where every demoer plays SRV or Comfortably Numb rubbish. Who cares how skilled you are, do somethi ng creative! Also its funny to watch a multi millionaire Pom rock royalty just pissfart around! Please have him on each month!!
Thanks for bringing on alternative players. Very inspiring for me. Still waiting on Ed O. Or if you guys could get Johnny Greenwood somehow. That’d be epic!
I've followed Grahams philosophy in my own guitar playing. I never practice a solo idea. We hit record and I just play. 90% of the time we go with my original take. It's the best feeling in the world....I'm useless at working things out by ear after though so I have to get others to transcribe what I did so I can learn it to play live 🤣
AND THEY ALL GO HAND IN HAND, HAND IN HAND THROUGH THEIR...PARK LIFE! DO DO DO DO DO DO DINK, Ten years I had this stuck in my head and its back bigger and better than ever. I always though that Graham was so serious and angry but he is so funny. Great work all. Very enjoyable.
FANTASTIC! Graham again...love Freakin Out out the beginning--such a crackin tune! Doing that with band at the moment, and this helps even more...everyone needs the Cali 76--shopping list :) The Grayling suits Graham to a tee. What a treat..great follow up to the first episode..thanks chaps !
Even though at this point I'll probably never be in a band, guitarists like Graham (another example would be Ed O'Brien) inspire me to keep playing and discovering my own sound. Trying to be Hendrix or Gilmour or Frusciante is a dead end for me, though I've expended many painful hours trying. When I come up with a riff or chord that feels like my own, that's when I can happily play for days.
'Just had this little extra one stashed away'... Thanks guys, really appreciate the time and effort - Love it even more when your guests demo their boards and get their schwang on.
Squier does a Thinline, with the Wide Range hb's, that is another piece of cost effective beauty.Even better if you slap in some of the newer, old school, Lover style reproductions in there.
That Thorpe sounded massive! And I guess I’ll have to check out a JHS Rat now too. At this point the guys at my music store know me by name because I’m constantly trading stuff cause of you guys.
He's BritPop's answer to Nigel Tufnel ;-) (*and I mean that in a positive sense. His manner and dry humor just really reminds me of the mighty Tap axeman)
Hey guys, your videos have inspired me to try and put together a special for my online radio show of songs that were game-changing by the creative choice of pedals etc. Do you think you could help me with your nominations and knowledge of the pedals that were used on the relevant songs. Would be great to have some trusted info to impart between the songs. If you have the time and could help me with this can I contact you via email on the subject? The music I play is predominantly "alternative". Thanks in advance and keep up the great work.
Is it friday already? i think you summed it up - too cool. Thank you again for this guys, spolied indeed, splendid. To Mr Graham Coxon, cant be long before you get knighted dear sir. PS - "waxing kit" not words i thought i'd hear on this channel.
That’s a lot of buttons ... ! That was a fun ride - Graham is one cool dude and an absolute trip. Cool to see/hear a little bit of a non gear guys perspective 2 thumbs up.
One thing that made me love Graham was the inclusion of the chords in the liner notes of The Great Escape. Such a cool thing for a teenager at the time.
When he turned on the flanger, everybody watching went "Play it! Play it!...nnn...YES, HE PLAYED IT!" I gotta say thanks, these Graham Coxon episodes have been my favorites.
What I'm surprised by here, is that Graham's using the Sheriff 22. I've been led to believe the Victory Sheriff wasn't a good amp for pedals. That seems to be the consensus on them - great plexi-ish tones and a bit more, but doesn't play well with stompboxes. Yet Graham's board sounds really good here.
Wow, I sometimes think that you guys only interview the genuinely most likeable characters in music. Yet another incredibly enjoyable and enlightening show.
This was a real treat for the start of the week! TPS is like a giant expression pedal, expressing serious levels of joy, passion and gratitude. Thx and well done.
So I was watching a Dweezil Zappa rig overview with Sweetwater today and he said that keeley made a version of the D And M drive for his recent Choice Cuts tour? Have you guys seen/heard that?
It’s just after 20:00 on the Sweetwater video. Dweezil has a lot of pedals ( and some amazing sounds) although going into a Fractal set up rather than valve amps so he can manage the onstage volume.
That Pedal Show: even their cutting room floor has better content than you! I’m guessing that JHS Pack Rat may feature in your Rat episode? Might I also suggest a look at the Plimsoul? The hard-clipping stage can sound pretty similar IMO.
I think I speak for everyone here when I say... "Mr Coxon, we F***ing love you!" - thanks for all the tunes & all the inspiration!

Yep, totally, that band really are more than the sum of the parts. Very special
Lenny Henry Completely agree with everything you’ve said here mate.
Just listened to Oily Water...the guitar and bass parts on that tune are awesome..I remember zoning out to that tune while stoned out of my tiny mind lol!
Almost all the songs from Modern Life is Rubbish just have that special Guitar - bass synergy unlike any other!
Heh yeahh bwoii
Stephen Malkums would be a great guy to have on TPS...
Always loved Graham’s originality and his eccentricities too.... Love too the way he doesn’t get caught up in the intricacies of imagined perfection and just plays from his heart, his gut and his awesome sense of humour.. Thanks for this TPS
It’s wonderfully liberating isn’t it. Love that man!
I’ve genuinely just exclaimed “oh my, there’s more!!” whilst on the bus
You didn't
@@Two_Seat_Pete_FatA55he bloody did you know!
@54spatula bloody well did not. I bet he literally spat out his drink too, right?
What a genuinely lovely humble guy. Certainly not someone who appears up their own arse with a massive ego. A true breath of fresh air.
We just like it when people are authentic. I’ve met guys who do have the massive egos and are totally up their own arse and are just as loveable for it, because it’s genuinely, wholeheartedly them. Mick here. :0)
I so enjoyed the first one with Graham - this is just spoiling us, thanks all!
Ahhh man No Distance Left to Run gets me every time!
Rhubarb & Custard, Mr Coxon, you officially won the internet.
Blur would literally be B L U R without Graham Coxon.
Graham's first video really changed the way I thought about playing notes in solos. I like his over all guitar approach
Ours as well, it was like a burden was lifted, just wonderful
@@ThatPedalShow He gave you a Tomorrow Never Knows, revolver revelation.
No Distance Left to Run was probably my first real breakup song... such a beautiful, plaintiff piece of music. Such a privilege to hear it in raw form!

I love Grahams guitar work and I must have tried Parklife a dozen different ways before getting it (sort of) right!
Any potential for a Multi FX show? I know you guys aren't really fans of it but you've done some other things you weren't fans of, like going direct.
Hello Oisin. Probably not. If anything exists for pure cost and convenience, it’s unlikely that Dan and I will engage with it. Oisin McPhillips ....yes the Boss MS 3!
well when you out it like that, its perfectly understandable. Thanks for the clarification.
Awww I was gonna totally suggest this. I just got a Dr. scientist bitquest and it the first multieffects pedal I have really bonded with.
A shame, because for those of us on a budget who hate, hate HATE dealing with patch leads, multi-fx can be a life saver. Just one episode? Please?
LURVELY bit of Pressure on Julian with the Palladium there.
This is the perfect mix of a couple of guys who can perfectly/ nerdy articulate the way pedals affect the sound of a guitar through an amp; juxtaposition a guy that describes things in strictly poetic terms, and also a lot of fidgeting. Lots of fidgeting.
Oh shit, another Graham video!!!! You are really spoiling us now chaps, thanks!
Love to listen to Graham play. He never ceases to inspire me
Yeah! Another great one guys. I love the little guest riff appearances. This time... "All Your Love" at 25.35. Who'd expect Graham to throw in a bit of Bluesbreakers!
In a very particular fashion by the way
Work can do one for half hour! yes!!!
I was grinning from ear to ear when he started the Parklife riff! Awesome....Graham revived my interest in guitar playing after being bored to tears by the endless procession of Yngwie and VH wannabies in the early 90s...Oily Water would have been nice though!
the nutty professor is back ;)
Graham always plays his own talents down, seems very humble. A guitar assassin if you ask me....

It was such a wonderful day, a second Coxon board build, and Park Life! What more could you ask for!!
That Pedal Show literally nothing. Just amazing.
How not to love that man. It is just lovely and cute and amazing n creative guitarrist. Hopefully some day I will be 1% like him playing guitar

Graham seems like the kind of guy I just want to hang out with. Awesome! And, I can't wait for my shirt to get here to Tennessee!
OK there, right there is the new pedal name, The Toblerone Tweed and Moths.
Somebody please do it! TTM Drive. Thorpy - you out there?!
Somebody has probably already either named their band or their album this very thing.
I am soooo glad there's more of this.

YESS! another 33 minutes. thank you!
You’re very welcome - it’s an absolute pleasure doing this stuff!
He could play anything if he wanted too brilliant
Perverse Soloing!
the original board rocks to me, and txs for bring "noise" guitar players, thanks to graham too, great
Man he is such a creative guitar player ! He also makes me feel better about my own lack of knowledge. Lol
When I was young just knowing The Beatles made it all up with no musical theory...well ...what more do we need to know 😀
The best guitar show & the best guitar player. I could not be happier

Flynn Hanbury Tenison the Thorpey FX - Fallout Cloud.

I have 3 Thorpyfx pedals :) best build quality on the planet and sound amazing: update: I now have 4, just ordered a fallout cloud :)

Can anyone tell me what song he is playing at 9:04 on the ODR-1?
The orange boss is more rattish than the yellow one :)
I could listen to Graham munching on Cornflakes😂👍👍
27:37 ma boi ;)
Should be invited to play in King Crimson or in Remain in light with Belew and Jerry Harrison

Great video! Can you show more alternative pedals for AnalogMan King of Tone in 2018 please? =)
Suhsuh +1 for a 2018 edition of KoT alternatives! I'm particularly interested in the tone shaping capabilities rather than just the gain.

Anyone else ordered a wardrobe full of tweed to get that authentic sound ... or has anyone found that setting in their modelling amp thingy ?
