Just had a lower back injury doing bent over rows. Pain is slowly going away day by day but i do have slight numbness throughout my body.. i feel like im getting better but im a little worried thanks for the awesome videos
I would first ask what do you mean by "numbness throughout my body?" If you were only having numbness in one or both limbs that's not getting worse and is slowly getting better i'd say wait it out for several months. If you are having numbness through all limbs, that's a different story. Any numbness, tingling, or progressive weakness in one or all limbs is something to see your doctor about as soon as possible.
I can not even get up or even turn to my side in my bed and you suggesting people to stay moving or walk. The pain is just unbearable please explain that
You are right. Some people have such severe spasms that they have a very difficult time even getting out of bed. My recommendation in this scenario is to do a log roll (rolling your whole body as one unit), to get out of bed. Swing your legs off the side and then use your elbow on your bottom arm and your hand on your top arm to push your body up into an upright position. It will hurt, but often times once people can get out of bed and move around a little bit it can loosen things up. Not for everyone of course, but this is more common than not.

Nathan thanks for the video. I am 61, female, 5'3 and had 2 yrs ago a stroke which I think then led to arthritis. My right shoulder I can't sleep on now as it hurts and i do a lot of computer work so how do I get it back to normal? Also, I stupidly did not warm up first, but bought one of those ab machines that elevate to five levels, did it a few days, no problem, then last week did it on lowest level (it's still quite high) and felt a pain around the right oblique muscle. I haven't used it since then but the pain has subsided. What are some tips for these things?
My best general advice as I haven't evaluated you would be to find a local physical therapist to help you get on a workout plan to increase strength and range of motion that is specific to you.
I lifted some heavy stuff and now its been more than month and its still paining i cant stand straight for long period of time i cant bend of touch my ankle as it pains and feel like burn help
Thanks for the info. Now I know for the future. My biggest mistake when I hurt my back a year ago was I didn’t do number 2: keep moving. I became scared of moving and was wearing a brace and think that’s what’s screwed me over for the long term. I’ve learned since then but now I’m just trying to undo damage but it’s been tough. I’m kinda trying different things like yoga and stretching but not really sure which direction to take it.
hi Doc i was diagnose with predisposition to lumbosacral instability. is this curable or its permanent its almost 3 months from my first symptoms i cant lift icant bend forward or even sneeze will hurt my back. the doktor just only give me a muscle relaxant medication. is that okay. thanks for response!
Lumbosacral instability is really just a catch-all term that usually means "this guys back hurts." It's not a great diagnosis as it's not a true pathology. A better diagnosis would be "this guys back hurts and we aren't sure what structure it is." But with that all being said -- give it some time, follow the steps in the video, check out some of my other exercise videos for back pain and if it's still no better after 2-6 weeks then not a bad idea to see a physical therapist if you're able to!
Thank-you so much for the video! Four days before I lifted a cylinder just with my right hand and suddenly I felt a sharp pain at the left side of my lower back and I'm still feeling that pain there. What should I do? Should I go to the gym?
Hope you’re feeling better now! Best thing to do with back spasms that happened after lifting something is to take it easy for a day or two and then get back to normal activity as soon as possible
Very good advice to keep moving! Thinking it was prudent to rest the strained and irritated muscle I laid down for a few days. The pain only got worse 😣 I was miserable 😖 Finally asked my friend to pray for me. She did and I immediately I felt fortified, it was great! After repeated prayer the pain disappeared. It was awesome!! I happily got up started going around the house doing stuff, then after a while I lay back down again, and guess what? You guessed it, the muscle started to feel tight again. Scared that I had lost my healing, and not wanting to bug my friend, I went looking for helpful advice on RUclips. Was hoping to cut the pain off again! Found this video. When I heard the good doctor say to keep moving I got up quick and stayed up this time this time. Right away the feeling of wellness returned. It was SO GOOD to not feel hurt anymore!! Keep moving folks! And have a friend of strong faith pray for you!! THAT was gold!!!
I liftet a box and twiested my back at the same time. its 6 week ago. 1 - I did not stress 2 - I worked all 6 weeks. moving around, lifted small stuff and normal active work. I wake up and cant almost put on my socks. I can then walk and work 10 hours no problem. If I sit more then 5min my back pain get back and its hard to stand up. If i sit 30min+ i feel it also in my legs and hips, in the end i just need to stand up.. i need to stand up slow and stretch... and then walk 10min and pain in alsmot gone. 6 weeks + now.... :(
how are you doing now? this sounds like your body is more sensitive to spinal flexion, meaning exercises prescribed should be focused on spinal flexion if you can tolerate (usually)
Thanks this vid is encouraging. I haven't been to the gym since covid started but my brain still thinks I can do it. My heavy object didn't cause my pain until the next day so I'm thinking it's just sore and no real injury occurred? Do you agree with that?
Sorry for the late reply on this (4 months late!) Based on the limited information you provided I would generally agree with your analysis. Whenever someone is having repeated bouts of soreness the next day after lifting (not regular muscle soreness but pain), it's usually a load, or form issue. But yes, I wouldnt' classify soreness as an injury. I would classify a fracture, severe pain from a disc herniation, etc. to be an injury.
I have pain in my lower back side spasms for 2.5 months ..I have this pain because of heavy deadlifting in gym...I go to gym every day but pain is not Healing...give me some advice !! Is it good to stop going to gym and do just joging ??? Must reply I am struggling very much I need your advice !!!
Hey Humair! Sorry for the delay in response! I would recommend reducing weight on the deadlift to a weight that is manageable and does not increase symptoms and then progressively increasing until pain is at a tolerable level. Avoid activities or reduce intensity of activities that aggravate symptoms past a tolerable level for a few weeks. This doesn't mean stopping all activity, in fact it's best to stay active with your normal routine, that includes going to the gym. You just want to make sure you're not constantly doing things that flare it up and make it feel worse. Hope that helps.
i lifted my whole bed including the huge heavy frame chunk of metal the other day and now my back hurts severely... and has yet to stop... i can't even bend over anymore..
For most people: rest 2-3 days, get back to the gym, use lower weight to start with, build back up slowly. Most back pain that is muscle related takes 2-6 weeks to resolve and during that time people should get back to normal activity while managing their symptoms
About 15 days ago i lifted heavy object ,as i lifted something happened in my midback and lower back . Doctor done x ray but everything is normal. He said its severe injury not any disc related issues. Pain is still there .how much it will take to fully recover.
I lifted a marble shelf and overstrained a bit , muscles are doing mini spasms in some positions ok in others no pain i just upset them a bit. Might have a epson salt bath , if in doubt get a extra person to help lift.

I wake up in pain and i immediately get in a hot shower to allow the hot water to run on my back and I feel better but it comes back near the end of the day, it’s my lower back. I lifted something heavy the wrong way from the wrong position.
I felt a sudden sharp low grade pain on my lower back when i lifted my luggage up to the plane bin. i was fine after that but i noticed whenever i press that part it kind of hurts. it’s been a month
I’d really appreciate it you helped me with this concern:) so I hurt my back a 3 days ago when lifting and I went back today and same thing happened again (I’ve felt this before) I don’t want it to get worse but do you recommend resting from weightlifting or what would you suggest
I would recommend getting back into the gym as soon as possible, with reduced weight on the bar to start with and building back up as symptoms subside. Apologies for the late response.
A 5-year-old cousin of mine was playing and jumped on my back yesterday. Initially, I didn't feel any pain, but after 3-4 hours, I started experiencing pain in the lower part of my back. Since then, I am unable to sit in a squatting position. I'm unsure whether I should consult a doctor or wait for the pain to subside by itself.plz reply
I hurt my side rib muscle(subluxation) about 9 months ago pushing a riding lawn mower up some ramps to a truck bed. Have gotten better but still some disconfort at times during the day. I sleep well at night..
I need help, I was deadlifting and my lower right back , like above my waistline near mid rib area cracked really loud, and it kinda feels like how u sprain your foot but worse, i am sitting down right now, is it mis placed or is it just a sprain, let me know please
hard to tell from a youtube comment. Usually cracking is pretty normal, however you can also hear a pop from a disc herniation, a fracture, etc. I'd get it checked out by a doctor or physical therapist to be sure and then see how symptoms improve or worsen over time
About more than two months ago I lifted something heavy and it induced a slow but painful feeling in the lower back area. After constant heat pad and sprain relief lotion I felt better and then finally relieved however a few days ago I lifted something lighter and in a better form but it induced this pain again and I'm doing the pain relief lotion every night and it's not getting any better.
So its not like I got lower back pain because lifting something.it was from poor posture its been like a year but now after i do physical activity even bending a little and then lay down (in bed or floor), I feel a very sharp pain that lasts for quite some time. can you suggest something?
rehab strategy is going to be different for each person -- would recommend if it hasn't improved in a couple weeks to seek out professional help. Also, testing out various movements to see if there are any that help

Sorry to hear that. Hope it's feeling better now!
@@strongsociety Thank you! Going on a short weekend trip and then I’ll shoot you an email next week!
Sounds good!
I lift heavy table and i hurt my back and i feel like i always poop
hi Doc i was diagnose with predisposition to lumbosacral instability. is this curable or its permanent its almost 3 months from my first symptoms i cant lift icant bend forward or even sneeze will hurt my back. the doktor just only give me a muscle relaxant medication. is that okay. thanks for response!
Best thing to do with back spasms that happened after lifting something is to take it easy for a day or two and then get back to normal activity as soon as possible
any updates?
I tried lifying a heavy object and when i finish i feal a pain whrn i touch it. It make me feal weary acros my lower back.
hope you're feeling better!
Does squat and deadlift hurt lower back ?
No. I actually think it's beneficial if progressed appropriately both physically and mentally.
Very good advice to keep moving!
Thinking it was prudent to rest the strained and irritated muscle I laid down for a few days. The pain only got worse 😣 I was miserable 😖
Finally asked my friend to pray for me.
Great to hear this was helpful for you :). Stay strong, stay moving!
I liftet a box and twiested my back at the same time. its 6 week ago.
1 - I did not stress
2 - I worked all 6 weeks. moving around, lifted small stuff and normal active work.
Sorry for the late reply on this (4 months late!)
Based on the limited information you provided I would generally agree with your analysis.
Yea, that'll do it. Hope you're feeling better!
@@strongsociety thanks, I feel fine now
@@IrisThatOneGothMf glad to hear that!
I have very bad back pain what shud I do?
I had lifted heavy objects in my gym
For most people: rest 2-3 days, get back to the gym, use lower weight to start with, build back up slowly. Most back pain that is muscle related takes 2-6 weeks to resolve and during that time people should get back to normal activity while managing their symptoms
About 15 days ago i lifted heavy object ,as i lifted something happened in my midback and lower back . Doctor done x ray but everything is normal. He said its severe injury not any disc related issues. Pain is still there .how much it will take to fully recover.
usual time is 2-6 weeks.
I lifted a marble shelf and overstrained a bit , muscles are doing mini spasms in some positions ok in others no pain i just upset them a bit. Might have a epson salt bath , if in doubt get a extra person to help lift.
hope you're feeling better now!
It’s been a week and a half and I’ve been taking Advil, using heat patches taking hot baths and heating pad. I wake up in pain and i immediately get in a hot shower to allow the hot water to run on my back and I feel better but it comes back near the end of the day, it’s my lower back. I lifted something heavy the wrong way from the wrong position.
Thanks for sharing!! I hope it has gotten better. Usually these things clear up within 4-6 weeks.
Thank you for the video! My back cracked while I was living a table with my arms spread out/\... I broke the 1st rule
Welcome! How are you doing now?
I felt a sudden sharp low grade pain on my lower back when i lifted my luggage up to the plane bin. i was fine after that but i noticed whenever i press that part it kind of hurts. it’s been a month

hope you're feeling better now!
Something had happened to me just now iwas lifting a couch and my back twisted and feeling pain on my right side of my back and leg
Sorry to hear that! Hopefully this video helps !
While lifting a heavy thing my back sounded like cracked and its been 2 months it's not healing what should I do?
if there was a crack and the pain is still there you may want to reach out to your doctor
Can you still help me, I know you posted this video long back?

A 5-year-old cousin of mine was playing and jumped on my back yesterday. Initially, I didn't feel any pain, but after 3-4 hours, I started experiencing pain in the lower part of my back. Since then, I am unable to sit in a squatting position. I'm unsure whether I should consult a doctor or wait for the pain to subside by itself.plz reply
If pain wasn’t immediate and you didn’t hear a pop or anything it’s likely nothing dangerous. Has this since resolved?
I hurt my side rib muscle(subluxation) about 9 months ago pushing a riding lawn mower up some ramps to a truck bed. Have gotten better but still some disconfort at times during the day. I sleep well at night..
Glad to hear it's feeling a bit better
@@strongsociety Is it normal for it to take this long to heal?
its longer than the norm so if you want to get bacjk to 100% id rec talking to a PT
Panic, panic, panic, I always panic. I thought I herniated my discs.
Yep... panic is the pre-programmed response, generally.
I'd get it checked out by a doctor or physical therapist to be sure and then see how symptoms improve or worsen over time
Hi i have pain in back from two days i think i got injured three days back but got to know before two days wgat should i do now can u plz help
How are you now?
About more than two months ago I lifted something heavy and it induced a slow but painful feeling in the lower back area. After constant heat pad and sprain relief lotion I felt better and then finally relieved however a few days ago I lifted something lighter and in a better form but it induced this pain again and I'm doing the pain relief lotion every night and it's not getting any better.
glad you're feeling better now!

Have you gotten back to lifting, how are you feeling now?
Bro how did you recover?
So its not like I got lower back pain because lifting something.it was from poor posture its been like a year but now after i do physical activity even bending a little and then lay down (in bed or floor), I feel a very sharp pain that lasts for quite some time. can you suggest something?
rehab strategy is going to be different for each person -- would recommend if it hasn't improved in a couple weeks to seek out professional help. Also, testing out various movements to see if there are any that help
Thank you doc
no prob

I rested all day yesterday I hope I didn't screw myself
