Woodturning: Ambrosia Maple in a Vase

This 11 1/2" (29.2cm) vase is turned from ambrosia maple, from a tree cut down in my back yard just a month ago. It is turned green, but turned to a 1/4" (6mm) thickness on the sides to minimize the chance of splitting during drying out. The finish is a oil-based wiping varnish.
