I think you also forgot the fact that in the original Battlefront 2 you could go from a spaceship to the planet's surface I know that was in the old Star Wars Battlefront II the Remake is not even close to that.
The original battlefront 2 will probably be the best Star Wars game I’ve ever played it was so much and there’s so much to do you never got bored playing it
Forreal? I went back and tried to play and got bored very quickly. Like the gameplay was fine for it's time but now you play one land battle and bored cuz its not challenging or diverse and then soace battle and yup. Unless youre playing with mods or other people this game is def. Just boring now.
As someone who played the og Battlefront 2 more than any other game back in the day, I complete understand. But to me, 2017 BF2 although definitely not a perfect game, managed to not only recapture that feeling I got playing the original as a kid but also surpassed it and gave me the Starwars experience I always wanted. If it had those features mentioned in this video that it lacked from the original like coop vehicle and deeper space battle mechanics it would have been the perfect game for me, but even though it doesn't have those things I'd still take the new Battlefront 2's gameplay over the original any day.
The 2017 was maybe too focused to modern basic fps experienced for me. I mean skins, heroes, and others things destroy the immersion and (even if its a good game) I don't have the feeling that I am part of a star wars battlefield. I think that the star wars for squad gives me way more og BF2 vibes, even if the gameplay is way more realistic and different.
@@xxcaptninjaxx4301Far from, the devs poured their heart into BF2, when they finally got the chance to release content that they wanted to make and everyone wanted to see. They made amazing content and reworked the game to fix all of its lootbox problems that was forced into the game by EA. It would have been the best Starwars bf game if support didn't get cut by EA in the end.
Classic BF2 and the battlefront 2 made by Dice has it's pros and cons. For instance, the heroes in Dice Battlefront is better than how they were in the original battlefront 2. But I do like the feature of vehicles spawning on the maps better than spending battle points to play as a starfighter, a AT-ST and a TX-130.
@@Coleskywalker If jedi could jump 80ft into the air that would make the game completely unbalanced lol... Lightsaber heroes are incredibly strong already because of their abilities. Thats what makes EA's bf2 so much better.
@@Coleskywalker if heroes and villains were full potential the game would be unplayable for any standard unit. Plus villains like grievous and bossk are really strong at the moment and will never get nerfed. Maul is great too.
OG has some things that makes it so much better, the new one is awesome for how canonically accurate it is and the higher level of detail, the maps are amazing and feel realistic. But the old game is better gameplay wise as it has more diverse feeling units, much more content to play, and for the battles it actually has a strategic element to it. The remake feels like you just spawn in and do your best against the enemy and hope you get lucky with enough points to get the unit you want like a vehicle or hero, sure you can hop out of a vehicle, but the downside is that is soon blows up, so it;s best to pick your vehicle and fight till you die anyway. While the OG you can have ore strategy to it by seeing where the CPs are at and either solo or in multiplayer try to coordinate with your friends, or solo you can often be a shifting factor based on how you aproach an engagement. For example an enginner/pilot is best class if you choose to use mainly a vehicle as you can slowly heal it while driving, or if it's taking too much damage attempt to find a safe place to go, hop out, then repair it. They also act as medics and ammo suppliers. But they are often the weakest having only a shotgun for close combat. Each units felt unique and had a useful role, and again in solo how YOU choose to aproach a battle can often determine victory or defeat. In multiplayer having a friend means you can hop into avehicle with ultiple seats. Often I'd apporach a CP and one would stay int he vehicle to provide support while one attampted to capture the CP. THe fact that how many CPs you owned would effect your reinforcment count also gave some strategy, the less CPs means your troops will be more concentrated on yor CPs makingn them easier to defend, but having more means your troops are more spread out, thus it's easier to lose CPs. Essentially do you try and go on the offensive to take as many as you can and get and advantage id sucessful, or do you try more defensive and work to keep at least half the CPs, and so your game then becomes more skill based. Overall the game has more factors allowing actual strategy rather then simply throwing yourselves at the battle and hoping you win.
@@ncard00 Ok we don't need that far. Even just a mid 2000s graphical update would be enough, like Halo 4 level of graphics. Just something detailed and accurate enough.
Playing the classic BF2 online today is terrifying. The only two classes played are sharpshooter and engineer. Everyone it just one-shotting each other with sniper rifles, or using an aim-flick technique to throw det-packs down hallways and nuke choke-points. It has been refined down to a slaughterhouse. Yeah we thought it'd be fun to play it online just like old times but nah, we were not ready for this new age of warfare.
its not much different in the new one - the choke points are even worse, and instead of sniper and engineer, its sniper - then they upgrade to jet and nuke everything. Also, you forgot to mention the notorious heavy that only shoots rockets at your feet. Its a classic (and somehow found its way to the new game in the form of every jet trooper instead of just the clone version)
If EA BF2 had galactic conquest like the original, I would probably never play the og again as much as I love it tbh. But sadly they never brought it over, so it feels a bit lacking on solo/splitscreen action to do
Bro, i know how you feel. If Dice was allowed to continue what they were doing with it, it would have no doubt been the Greatest Starwars Game of all time for me. Its such a Shame EA shut it down. So many Devs including Kevin fought so hard to convince EA to let them continue to work on it or make a sequel but EA refused. That's why so many devs left Dice after support was confirmed to end for bf2
@@invaderIRK1nope, vehicle combat is shitty at a foundational level which is idiotic for a game called Star Wars battlefront which was based off battlefield. The reinforcements are mini heroes instead of specialized versions of the basic classes. The capital supremacy mode is just dogshit. Galactic assault is just shitty corridors and choke points everywhere. This new battlefront is the antithesis of the old battlefronts and calling a battlefront game is shameless from ea. They turned battlefront into a hero shooter, the vehicles don’t play as vehicles since you can’t exit and get back in them; they also have abilities to be more like a hero shooter. The basic infantry have abilities on cooldown as well instead of relying on your team to give you ammo. The heroes also have abilities on cooldown to keep in theme with the hero shooter theme. The new battlefront games share nothing with the old battlefront games besides the most shallow shit because they’re in practically two different genres. They made sure there was no teamplay in the new battlefront. Can’t have more than one in a vehicle. Can’t have a medic who gives health. Can’t have a support that gives ammo. The most teamplay you’ll get is an officer class giving you a health boost, but he doesn’t actually give you health and that boost is on a cooldown keeping the hero shooter theme. I wouldn’t be surprised if your the type of guy to think adding more heroes would be better than fixing the actual problems with the game. If you enjoyed the new “battlefront” then I recommended plants vs zombies garden warfare… oh wait, even that game has more teamplay than this shitty knock-off version of it.
@@paulallen2680 the chokepoint thing - i felt that on a personal level. There are some vehicles you can enter and exit, but they're all slow as shit. They also made the AAT one of these even though they were mobile in other appearances
I think the biggest critique with Battlefront 2 2017 is that the developers at Dice were arrogant and didn't realize that OG Battlefront was essentially a Star Wars reskin of Battlefield. If they had just given us Battlefield 1 with a Star Wars aesthetic it would've been perfect.
I remember when it was announced that DICE was making the new Battlefront game series I was hoping they just made a Battfield reskin. The OG battlefronts were basically just that. Sadly that never really happened.
I can't agree with the new version having "just as fluid movement". The rolls and he janky jedi/melee attacks do not feel good at all. And the diversity you supposedly get with all the customization goes away in the 1st minute of every battle because points are actually REALLY easy to get, and everyone jumps to the same few specialist classes and plays more or less the same way - save for that new guy you run into once a week that plays officer and sticks to it willingly just to help the team (that's me). Also, not touching on the reward bonuses, like the Precision Pistol from Gunslinger feels wrong. Those points/kill bonuses were a big part of the game too. In the new game you pretty much ALWAYS want to upgrade to a specialist class - but in the original, those bonuses were an incentive for those that were great at the character they put hard work into - or were just really good at. I also am just very dissatisfied with the space battles, as that was a huge part of the original game for me - it's what made me think the original Battlefront was just "a cool little game" while the sequel was awesome. All that being said - I really wish there was a way to mix the maps. I always wanted Bespin in old BF2, but i want Mygeeto, Mustafar, and the old Kashykk in the new game. There's nothing wrong with most of the new maps. There are just some that are way worse than others - but that's how it was in the original. None of you can convince me that Felucia on PS2/360 was a great map. Straight dogwater. The new Felucia is laughably better - even if it feels way too big sometimes.
The galactic Conquest and full space battles are what makes the difference to me Sure the classes and customization in the new games are better, but the loss of those features kills it for me Sure you get to fight on the capital ships in the new games but it’s basically just another map instead of an actual battle to get to the ships in space
havent played bf II 2017 that much but it felt fun enough, the droideka thing was a interesting point. coudve had ammo/hp packs like the og''s, woudlve made stuff interesting, but the new feels more like how they made stuff more interesting competitivly, saying unbalanced, mines ''walk up place'' in the og were OP lol
@@ps123fanthey made new battlefront into a hero shooter. The vehicles act like mini heroes. The heroes act like heroes. The infantry act like heroes. The reinforcements act like heroes. Everything has a fucking cool down that automatically regenerates on its own as if this is overwatch. You can tell the devs at dice looked garden warfare and decided to copy it for their battlefront game. Battlefront 2017 had the same monetization system as garden warfare 2, battlefront 2017 uses the same card system. Battlefront 2017 classes all have cooldowns that automatically regenerate on their own like garden warfare 2.

Vehicles spawning on maps makes more sense than having battle points in way, because the vehicles had set numbers and would just respawn when destroyed so you wouldnt run the risk of the map beeing flooded with tanks , sure youd be waiting for it to respawn but its better to wait in game while takeimg potshots rather than sitting in a menu for ages only to have some lucky noob take it and die causing you to wait even more
One of my favorite childhood memories is all the Saturday nights I would spend with my old man setting up a map playlist with our own story and cranking the reinforcements up so the battles would last a long time. Or my favorite being on opposite teams so I can camp his last spawn with an AT AT on hoth.😂 ah good times. Lol I still play this game and Jedi academy on the regular tho.
Being a player of the original 2005 Bf2, I Still prefer the new Bf2 that Dice made. After all the Love Dice put into fixing and updating everything about it, It Brought to life everything I imagined doing when I was a kid playing the original. The original bf2 was my favourite starwars game for a very long time. But the remake is just that good!
Let’s also remember we didn’t get a lot of these customizations with the 2017 Battlefront 2. Heck, we didn’t even have Anakin, ObiWan or Dooku as playable heroes that the original Battlefront II had
05 version is better. It may not have the best quality, or all the characterization options as the new one, but at least you can sit down and play the entire game without having to buy anything. Hate buy to play games. Whatever happened to buying a game, and playing? Now it's buy this mission or lvl, you can't play this mission or lvl until you buy this weapon or skin. 05 is best. Wish they'd keep the game the same, but update the quality.
Originally, All the new skins they were all free for everyone for at least 1 year. After that you needed ingame points to unlock them which is still the case. Or you can buy them with real money if you dont want to save up the points
Idk what rock you live under, but that system was removed over 4 years ago. If they made an exact replica of OG BF2, then they're just gearing towards a smaller audience like you lmao. The gameplay is outdated and not fun anymore sorry to crush ur dreams

I always loved 05. Its what I grew up with. EA BF just can't compete in terms of straight enjoyment. Sure, there's more content in terms of customization and all that, but we're missing a, and let me stress this word, GOOD campaign and some classics like proper space battles and galactic conquest. @@BeefBN6 everyone's experience with the game differs from person to person. To clarify our perspective of the franchise, we spent most of our young life playing the Classic BF2 it was definitely our most beloved SW game. After a rough launch with the 2017 remake we jumped back in when the first of the new content updates dropped (Geonosis). Since then we played almost every night for 3 years, became extremely proficient players of the highest level, learning every intricacy of the game and would win every game of galactic supremacy without fail regardless of whatever bugs or balance problem the game had. No doubt the classic will always be that special game for us but BF2 2017 turned into a game we loved Just as much
I have 600+ hours on the OG bf2, and 1500+ hours on EA's BF2. IMO EA's bf2 is straight up fun, although unbalanced. It can a lot of time to get good at and I think if a lot of these OG BF2005 people would just adapt to the fact that most shooter games need to be either 5v5 or MMO. BF2005 was a great game ahead of its time, and I surely enjoyed it when I was younger. But the older I've gotten, the more stale it became due to the fact that it's linear gameplay. @BeefBN6 do you play on PC virginia?
@@jacobybog-xm2ge 100% agree. Bf2 2017 is a better game in almost every way and it takes an incredible amount of skill to be the best at the game. The original was amazing for its time but it can't hold up to the remake. Sinnoh and I both have close to 2000 hours on the remake and were one of the best players in our region, averaging at least 150 kills each round playing exclusively as the republic in supremacy (And I didn't even use heroes). We felt like we could compare these games honestly and objectively without the nostalgic bias most people have. hence why we started this series. We're looking forward to continuing it with part 2 very soon
Being able to hop in/out of ships and the hangars in the space battles seems like a small detail, but for some reason adds so much for me. I also prefer the maps of the OG. The new one is still great though and very immersive.
Everyone claims that the Original Star Wars Battle Front II is the "Best Star Wars game". I do agree that it is a great game, but there is another game that I think should be considered as a decent contender. That game is Star Wars Empire at War, a real time strategy created by Petroglyph Games where you play as a military commander for either the Empire or Rebels (but there are mods which add different Eras like the Clone Wars and Old Republic).
Not Considering the launch and other stuff, The EA Battlefront were very well made that you could record HUDless and spectate and it'll feel like you're observing the movies. The models and animations and voice work are fantastic no doubt. However, it just lacks the "freedom" of the classic BF. Surely the modes are fun in the EA but I think how vehicles are treated in the EA is just different. I very much prefer accessible vehicles than those through points and it's just a different feeling. Same with the newer battlefield titles and halo infinite vs older halo games. Instead of running to the vehicle, you could just spawn in one. I don't think it really solved the "vehicle hogging" problem because some players will just stay on the spawn screen anyways to spawn in one. Having to board the vehicle is much more immersive and you could appreciate the size of the vehicles than having them spawned in.
I've always thought that the original 2005 game had junky controls with no weight to them. It's undoubtedly one of the major or Star Wars games, but I never understood how it got such a stellar reputation.
The idea of class customization is nice and all, but honestly I'm more for restriction but help in other ways. I want to be able to look at somebody and be able to immediately tell "ok he's playing this class, this is what they can do, I should be ready to avoid this or exploit this" With star cards there is so much variety you can't tell what anyone has or can do so its harder to formulate strategies to counter or protect yourself from them. Especially if they were a no-lifer at launch or played a ton nowadays and have every star card unlocked and at max rank, then they are just objectively better than new players or casuals just because of raw stats. As you pointed out, in the originals, while not having the class customization, had the ability for people to help one another with all the different slots in vehicles and starships, repairing turrets or droids for use etc that 2017 lacks completely. In all but graphics and audio, I still prefer the original
15+ years playing the OG battlefront II and I never thought of using the mines as a way to kamikaze the enemy… I have been playing wrong all this time.
I like both games, but for some reason I can't stand 2017s HUD. it's so god damn busy and it feels extremally distracting. Takes you away from star wars vibes and puts you straight into fortnite
Thats true, but tbh 2005s UI and menu also felt very bland and uninspired, it looks like something you'd find on Gmod darkRP rather than 2004 battefronts UI which felt distinctly better in my opinion
If it was a worthy successor people would actually be playing it you can barely get a match you have to play at like specific times on one mode. The original was better and will always be better it just is better boarding an enemy ship leaving a laat as a spawn point blowing up all the major systems.
Yes. In fact, every single game mode in Battlefront 2 (2005) can be played in singleplayer. Unlike EAFront. This includes Heroes vs. Villians, Conquest, Assault (which is basically space battles), Capture the Flag, Hunt (basically natives vs troops) and XL (essentially huge battles). There is also a campaign mode and Galactic Conquest, which is a strategic "risk" like game where you have to capture planets, build fleets, buy units and fight on planets and in space to win.
My first swbf was in 2004 when I turned 10 years old. I played every star wars bf game from PC, console and handheld and I can safely say this, SWBF2 (2005) on Series X and PC, SWBF 1 on Series X and PC, and SWBF Elite Squadron on PSP/Vita are miles better than the current Battlefront games.
@@CT-BAl13R Yes but why i can only play with 16 units per team in xbox series x on bf2 by dice, and not with 32 max per team like bf2 classic on pc ? The only thing i dont like, i hate it
Reasons why the original is better: More maps Smoother and superior gameplay Way better campaign Better voice acting Good Starfighter controls No microtransactions No need to spend days upon days upon days of your life to earn enough credits for one skin No need to get XP and level up Better game modes Not-so washed out graphics Better hero system No star cards required to unlock special abilities Both eras of the movies being playable on most maps More heroes Isn't Disney Star Wars Far superior space battles Cooler menus Hilarious AI The Emperor actually has a lightsaber Ties into 4/6 of the movies Gives you the ability to hop into vehicles instead of having to spawn in with one Doesn't have any Sequel Trilogy content Superior Hunt mode I could honestly go on forever
Honestly, I colossally disagree on every single one of your points, and I think one could argue that you’re flat out objectively wrong on some of them. For instance, “smoother gameplay” when the new game quite literally uses newer, better technology to run the game objectively more smooth. Both in framerate, character control (deadzones, sensitivity, autoaim features, etc) and so much more. From a storytelling perspective too, depending on your criteria, you could easily say the new game is better considering it’s a proper story which follows common storytelling devices and structure (Dynamic 3 dimensional characters who undergo clear conflict and developed through the narrarive), unlike the old game which is nothing more than a single person monologuing about events. On the topic of maps, you realize each map on the new game is like 5x larger and 100x more movie accurate than maps of the old game? I mean, Kashyyyk in the new game straight up has you fight through the entire beachhead and into the venator exactly as shown in ROTS. The old battlefront map is utterly dwarfed by the new map.
@IWanna The gameplay in the original in my opinion feels a lot smoother than it does in EA BFII because the controls are impressively responsive, and the original games also had auto aim. The story for EA's Battlefront II is also just not very interesting and doesn't feel like it adds much to the overall Star Wars story, meanwhile the campaign of the original Battlefront II allowed us to dive a bit deeper into the rise of the Empire and we got to see it from the perspective of a Clone Trooper who tells us how these changes have not only affected the military Clone Troopers served under, but how it's affected a portion of the galaxy as well. Just because certain maps are bigger, that doesn't make them better. In fact, some of the maps in EA's Battlefront II feel like a chore to run around in while the original just keeps them small enough to make it easier to capture command posts, but also large enough to where there's still plenty of space for big battles to play out. The old games' maps were simple and straight to the point.
@@gamerofcomics492 You said a lot there that 200% disagree with. Firstly, the controls are objectively smoother in the new game. Thats not even up for debate . Did you even play the original battlefront on the older consoles? The deadzones and aim assist were objectively more clunky. Im sorry but thats just wrong - unless you first played the old battlefront on xbox one backwards compatibility where the aim controls were updated and streamlined. Secondly, how on earth does the EA BF2 “doesn’t feel like it adds much to the overall Star Wars story”? It’s literally an entire original plotline with new characters who develop throughout the course of the story. It fills in gaps from immediately after the battle of endor, leading up to the pivotal fight on Jakku. I seriously do not understand where you’re coming from here. I still respect your opinion on preference.
If the 2017 one had the same amount as content as the original like 4 player split screen vehicles you arent attached to and 3 seated vehicles the game would be perfect
I feel like nostalgia is a really big factor that greatly affects peoples opinions And also bias from how poorly EA handled Battlefront 2017 (lootboxes and cutting support so quickly)
Emp launcher from a jet trooper takes two shots to down a droideka shield. I also seem to be very lucky because by time I’ve reloaded their shields have already received enough damage from friendly fire that the second is a kill
I personally do not like the scant customization options in Battlefront 4 I mean Battlefront 2 (EA), both for being scant and for existing at all. What I mean is that I play the game to be immersed in the _Star Wars_ world, but the starting blasters and sniper rifles for the characters are all so weak that it is suboptimal not to use a later unlockable. But using those unlockables mean that I have do away with using a DC-15S with a clone trooper, an E-11 with a stormtrooper, an E-5s with a droid sniper, etc. And what's more, the options are so limited that I will always use the NT-242 on all sniper characters. The game incentivizes you not to use the weapons that match the base classes while also offering not enough variety on the other hand to really be called full customization and worth the implementation to begin with. In line with the theme of immersion, I really hate how anachronistic heroes and villains are allowed in the Galactic Assault mode. Gameplay-wise, the reboot's map designs are far inferior. Virtually every map has multiple vectors of attack on all sides at any given time. The scenery is always gorgeous, but there isnt the variety that gives each map a distinct experience like we did with the original, e.g. compare Bespin: Platforms with Hoth with Rhen Var: Citadel with Mos Eisley with Yavin: Arena, etc. Then you add in the overpopulation of heroes and villains in play at any given time, which totally disrupts the flow of play. They're not even as enjoyable to play, with movements almost as stiff and immobile as they were in Renegade Squadron. Going back to immersion once again, this was an issue in the original _Battlefront II_ to a lesser extent as well. In the very first game, although every faction had the same class, their units for each class still had minor differences that set them apart. Clone troopers had haywire grenades (EMP), rebel vanguards' missile launchers were burst-fire, etc. These unique qualities were all removed in _Battlefront II_ (2005) while the jet trooper's EMP launcher and the droideka were nerfed to the ground. BF2 (2005)'s philosophy of balancing was such that every unit had to be exactly the same, which is why we awkwardly got V-Wing as bombers instead of using the ARC-170 as a bomber with 3 seats and TIE fighters with proton torpedoes. In the OG OG _Battlefront_ every faction shared the same class system, but developers were not afraid to give units distinct flavours that not only made them more unique in play but also matched the "real feel" of vehicles better (AT-ATs, Delta-7s, etc. in OG BF1 were all much closer to their movie counterparts). So in my opinion, the most immersive entry was _Battlefront_ (2004). The reboots are more immersive only in the graphics but not the feel of weapons and units. The best format of customization for the series is to restrict options only to the weapons that the faction unit should have access to while also giving these weapons unique differences and trade-offs from one another. A clone trooper should not be using a sequel-era gun! The DC-15S, DC-17, and DC-15A blasters should still have the ionized effect on vehicles and droids while the droid sniper's E-5s sniper rifle should have a unique short duration and perhaps inaccurate burst-fire mode true to its depiction back in _Clone Wars_ (2003).
I enjoyed the original battlefront games growing up but I wish they added the different legion skins besides just the 501st now you have the pc version to Mod the game into having different legions in the games. I also enjoy the new battlefront game from 2021 it is very interesting having different Legions storm the battlefield as Players play different troopers But regardless I still Prefer the original games more..
The original was better for me. Heros were mostly balanced, maps were balanced, classes were balanced, and flight controls were intuitive. Plus you could play any mode local or online. Dices game was too dependent online, and the star cards over complicated fhe game. That and flying is terriblenin the new game, let alone how rare it is to get a hero
The ‘customization’ in the newer game is a joke too. It only amounts to players wearing random skins and ruining any sense of immersion and team synchronicity.
@@OffendEveryoneImmediately Exactly the problem. The biggest issue with customization in these games is that EA wants to sell you the skins, so they show you a top-performing player wearing something ridiculous, and that makes you go "Oh, that's cool, should buy that so that can be just as cool" A toggle to make it so that each legion is canonical to each map, or that each cosmetic is canonical to each map (Geonosis droids on Geonosis, 501st mixed with 212th in Phase 1 on Kamino) would have been a massive help to immersion.
i feel like the different eras should have different weapons because a clone trooper with an e-11d doesn’t make much sense its like a WWi soldier with an MP40

@@greatwhite3512 I agree they should have done proper jetpack instead of jumppacks in the new BF2. But in terms of heros, the new one is better in every way. of course the OG battlefront is better, and its not just nostalgy the OG battlefront had much much better gameplay mechanics, vehicle controlls are better, heroes are not overly OP and singleplayer is playable, not to mention the galactic conquest and superior story mode (also modders can make OG battlefront another experience with new maps, classes, heroes, character models ect.) EA battlefront only has better graphics, but terrible mechanics, certain CO-OP maps are unplayable, heroes are just brokenly OP and story mode isnt great
Battlefront always felt as a more refined Battlefield. (Except for 2142, that one still reigns supreme above all) I would love a game that has the original's ideas that couldn't be implemented back in the days due to hardware limitations. or just BF3 (in the unreal engine 3 or a foss alternative). Despite what detractors say, the dice's 2017 version is the closest to that, despite it's many flaws and horrendous release. the "it's too generic" excuse is just lame. Heroes never felt good in either games, at least not as good as in jedi academy or outcast, but to pick from the original or the new... it's just like the games, both have something that make the stand out and somethings done wrong. (such as the design of most maps in the original, again due to hardware limitations).
My reason for preferring EA SWBF2 is that I find the objectives and large game modes more varied an interesting. Planting bomb, capture point etc. geonosis is so much fun at the final stage.
When the ps2 versions has more content than the new ones. Better naps. Land to air combat. An actual good campaign. Galactic conquest Some of the maps actually had nkre details than the newer ones. Like in geonosis on 2004 version you could go into the separatist meeting room and view rhe map if the actual battle taking place outside. 2004 had seperate factions like tusken raiders wbo wpuld actually fight the rebels or the empife and take objectives from either side 2005 had nkre game modes like hunt for example you want to play as a wanpa fighting debels go for it. You wanna llay as a geonosian go for ot. How about a gungan🤣 The newer battlefront gamws are fun but thats about it
You completely ignore or vaguely brush over many important qualities of both games, and it shows your bias towards Battlefront 2 2017. Single player? Predatory pay to win loot box grind fests? Galactic conquest? 🤔
2017 battlefront all the way I have and own the og as well but the newer one had so much more potential for new content skins hero’s and villains alike until the plug was pulled on this awesome game.
Honestly the new battlefront is waaaay better. Still love it even though I grew up on the originals. The lightsaber gameplay and graphics and immersion is so much better. I must say I miss the heros being able to block absolutely everything 😂
I got bored with EAFront after about 50 hours and haven't gone back. It's not even close to being a true successor. Going off Steam, I've got over 650 hours in the original Battlefront 2 and probably another 300-400 on the original Xbox console and 100 more hours on the original disc. Something I've always hated about EAFront is the lack of real freedom or player choice. It's also super un-immersive. I don't want to see Darth Maul in the middle of a battle fighting rebels and Luke Skywalker... I don't want to earn a bunch of points just to drive a damn tank. In the original Battlefront and Battlefront 2, command posts had a purpose and weren't just arbitrary spots on the map. Vehicles would spawn at them and certain command posts were strategically advantageous. There was a layer of strategy involved. Modding support is MUCH better in the original Battlefront as well. I'm talking about the ability to mod in entire eras or entirely new game modes. Map modding is practically nonexistent in EAFront and most modding is limited to skins, which is super lame. I'll also never forgive EA for removing Galactic Conquest, which has always been my favorite game mode. Hell, you can even have modded GC campaigns in the original Battlefront 2. There is a recent mod that lets you generate entire campaigns from over 500 maps and 150+ planets. It's called "Choose Your Own". So yeah, I see now reason to ever touch EAFront ever again.
I love playing as heroes in both games, I live for the lightsabers Yaknow And Ea’s battlefront 2 saber combat is amazing (when it was updated anyway) Plus the amount of customization man, I love the classic but this game hits all the marks I just hate how the live service was cut needlessly at the height of its popularity and with no sign of a sequel, it just feels cursed, fuck EA for that alone
Could be better, a for honor system would be way better. This system could turn on when you lock on to an enemy by pressing the right stick on the controller. This would improve lightsaber duels by a large margin.
@@paulallen2680 tbh that sounds like a terrible idea Well.. maybe not if it worked flawlessly Like for honors combat system would be good except for the fact that fighting in that game is so jank and unresponsive it makes me wanna kms plus the collision can be semi bad and we all know how jank, unresponsive, and terrible the collision is in this game already Jank because of the stagger system needlessly freezing you when someone didn’t even hit your side Unresponsive by abilities not working sometimes when you press them or your block not being up because of slightly uneven terrain and the animation being faster than the ability Terrible collision because I’ve seen people get hits from like a foot away from where their saber actually swung at times For honor you just get stun locked consistently and you can be spamming the dodge button after a hit for like 5 minutes and stay sat there like a dumbass, plus some of the characters attacks seem undodgable but yaknow probably a skill issue
@@cheesydanishgaming3333 I do agree that the game is extremely buggy and has poor hit registration. I meant, only copy for honor blocking and attacking mechanics (directional blocking and attack), the Jedi knight games had this but it was mapped to your movement instead of your right stick and it sucked on console (for me at least). I’m not saying to copy for honors unblockable attacks or shit like that. It would work more like movie battles 2, but with for honors directional attacks and blocks. I would get rid of garbage collision, not being able to freely move while attacking, the stagger, the lightsaber having the lock on system that it does, the combos and guard breaks from for honor. If you’ve seen movie battles 2 mod then the system would work more like that.
I like a lot about dice bfii. But I feel like its big issue is too many modes and maps stuck only in one mode that is rarely played. I like how classic has all modes on all maps and all maps in instant action.
Personally, in my opinion I feel like that Battlefront 2005 had a way better campaign mode, however EA Battlefront is better with it's inclusion of modern graphics, original music from all eras of Star Wars and plus The Clone Wars animated series clones as well. Unfortunately Battlefront 2 2005 had 10 times more the heroes and villains and plus Ventress was programmed into the game for the Xbox version too way before her introduction from the Clone Wars animated series.
Ventress was actually present way before she was included in Battlefront 2 (2005) or the TV Show. Ventress first appeared in "Jedi: Mace Windu" comic book in 2003 and she made several appearances after that in the Republic comic series, which came before the Clone Wars show and Battlefront 2 (2005).
Graphics aren't everything. The feel the game gives ya is what matters. The original swbf2 will always be the best star wars game of all time. Not even a debate. It's a fair.
I would have been perfectly content with the new games being called Battlefront 3 and 4. That would have given me hope for a real remake of the 1st two games as one game. All the maps from the 1st, but with the game modes and mechanics of the 2nd, sprinkled with some design touches from the Dice games. (I like the points system - but they should be adjusted by game mode. Too many heroes and specialists after just 30 seconds of play time. Felucia and Kamino specifically need their Dice maps included, as much as I love Kamino in og BF2 - heck bring them both for spearate modes haha) and for the love of god, can we stop having classes that can just shoot rockets at your feet? It wasn't fun 20 years ago, and its not fun now in the remakes lmao. Fuck.
I can non stand them adding customization to everything. That's work they could be putting somewhere else. What made the original better was the fact ot felt like you were a soldier. Customization makes me feel like a mercenary. Graphics. Gosh. They look cleaner. But the clunkyness and real feel. Makes it not feel like star wars. I would prefer the old over the new.
I have to disagree. I liked the customisation and the modern look of the game. But "starcards" as a positive thing? That was the thing that drove players away in the first place. You had to grind forever to gain them. And at first they were tied to lootboxes. For me this was easily the worst aspect of the game
Love all the comments! Be sure to watch the full video before critiquing a point
Ah yes the year 20015 classic year for games
The golden age of gaming, never gonna be another like it 😎
I think you also forgot the fact that in the original Battlefront 2 you could go from a spaceship to the planet's surface I know that was in the old Star Wars Battlefront II the Remake is not even close to that.
The original battlefront 2 will probably be the best Star Wars game I’ve ever played it was so much and there’s so much to do you never got bored playing it
You could play as Wampas, gungans and other creatures in hunt mode too. This game is GOAT status and the remake imo doesn’t compare
Not to mention the features like increasing reinforcements in instant action mode
Exactly, so much content, so much care built into the original. EAs games look pretty, but feel soulless
Forreal? I went back and tried to play and got bored very quickly.
Like the gameplay was fine for it's time but now you play one land battle and bored cuz its not challenging or diverse and then soace battle and yup.
Unless youre playing with mods or other people this game is def. Just boring now.
@@cellyzs there are so many glitches and playstyles to test out. I agree mods and real players are more fun than bots tho
To me the original just has a style and immersion that the newer games just can’t capture despite the graphics and gameplay “improvements”
@@Jean-wx4whEA battlefront to me are soulless

It would have been the best Starwars bf game if support didn't get cut by EA in the end.
@@invaderIRK1Nah, things like Heroes and vehicles were terribly done in the remake and no amount of updates would've changed how they did those

100%
Yes but the heroes in the original were more believable, since when do any Jedi do little tiny jumps in the air
@@Coleskywalker If jedi could jump 80ft into the air that would make the game completely unbalanced lol... Lightsaber heroes are incredibly strong already because of their abilities. Thats what makes EA's bf2 so much better.
@@jacobybog-xm2ge they ain’t that strong, because ea likes to “nerf” them, limiting their full potentials as characters.
All old star wars games need a remaster, with UE5 level graphics.
@@ncard00 Ok we don't need that far. Even just a mid 2000s graphical update would be enough, like Halo 4 level of graphics. Just something detailed and accurate enough.
Really grasping here
Being able to board other ships in space battles in the og game is sick
This is what I’ve been worrying about.
If EA BF2 had galactic conquest like the original, I would probably never play the og again as much as I love it tbh.
But sadly they never brought it over, so it feels a bit lacking on solo/splitscreen action to do
Yep
@@paulallen2680 Would you like some salt with that Sir, or is everything with Abilities a Hero Shooter now?
I think the biggest critique with Battlefront 2 2017 is that the developers at Dice were arrogant and didn't realize that OG Battlefront was essentially a Star Wars reskin of Battlefield. If they had just given us Battlefield 1 with a Star Wars aesthetic it would've been perfect.
I remember when it was announced that DICE was making the new Battlefront game series I was hoping they just made a Battfield reskin. The OG battlefronts were basically just that. Sadly that never really happened.
@@mikewalkey7520 Sadly it never happened and now they can't even make a decent Battlefield. “Oh How the Mighty Have Fallen”
I guess a new company must do it themselves
This is the exact same thing I think! BF 1 is perfect and a Star Wars reskin would have made Battlefront 2 amazing!
Personally they are both great in different ways
One point as to why the original 2 will always be better.
IN GALACTIC CONQUEST
Both games are good in their own way , but if battlefront 3 fully got released it would be over , because bf3 would have the high ground
Why the new Battlefront games didn't allow for multi-person vehicles is beyond me.
The galactic Conquest and full space battles are what makes the difference to me
Sure the classes and customization in the new games are better, but the loss of those features kills it for me
Sure you get to fight on the capital ships in the new games but it’s basically just another map instead of an actual battle to get to the ships in space
To summarize it up in my opinion no, this game is still amazing....to me EA battlefront 2 hasn't held up
havent played bf II 2017 that much but it felt fun enough, the droideka thing was a interesting point. coudve had ammo/hp packs like the og''s, woudlve made stuff interesting, but the new feels more like how they made stuff more interesting competitivly, saying unbalanced, mines ''walk up place'' in the og were OP lol
Battlefront 2017 had the same monetization system as garden warfare 2, battlefront 2017 uses the same card system. I played the new one only for a little bit, it didn't keep me hooked. I guess there's just more beauty in simplicity.
That game is Star Wars Empire at War, a real time strategy created by Petroglyph Games where you play as a military commander for either the Empire or Rebels (but there are mods which add different Eras like the Clone Wars and Old Republic).
most people really call KOTOR the best star wars game. But if the guy in the video said that, the video wouldn't be as good.
it's pretty much unanimous. It's always ben KOTOR - and I've still yet to play it LMAO
Not Considering the launch and other stuff,
The EA Battlefront were very well made that you could record HUDless and spectate and it'll feel like you're observing the movies.
I want to be able to look at somebody and be able to immediately tell "ok he's playing this class, this is what they can do, I should be ready to avoid this or exploit this"
With star cards there is so much variety you can't tell what anyone has or can do so its harder to formulate strategies to counter or protect yourself from them.
Bro you do Battlefront and Pokemon. I think you're my new favorite youtuber
I like both games, but for some reason I can't stand 2017s HUD. it's so god damn busy and it feels extremally distracting. Takes you away from star wars vibes and puts you straight into fortnite
The menu interface is also one of the most uninspired things I’ve ever seen in any videogame.
Thats true, but tbh 2005s UI and menu also felt very bland and uninspired, it looks like something you'd find on Gmod darkRP rather than 2004 battefronts UI which felt distinctly better in my opinion
Part 2 when?
If it was a worthy successor people would actually be playing it you can barely get a match you have to play at like specific times on one mode. The original was better and will always be better it just is better boarding an enemy ship leaving a laat as a spawn point blowing up all the major systems.

the battlefront mod for Contractors VR is the worthy successor.
Question: In Battlefront 2 (2005) can you play heroes and villains solo, like without other players? Just against bots?

I could honestly go on forever
I rate visuals for its era as opposed to later console. Old Battlefront looked amazing for its era
I feel like nostalgia is a really big factor that greatly affects peoples opinions
And also bias from how poorly EA handled Battlefront 2017 (lootboxes and cutting support so quickly)
hot take but the remake had the potential to be better than the og if ea didn’t leave the project like they did
i dont think its a hot take - except the part about EA. I'd just say "if Dice didn't stop updating"
Emp launcher from a jet trooper takes two shots to down a droideka shield. I also seem to be very lucky because by time I’ve reloaded their shields have already received enough damage from friendly fire that the second is a kill
Remake BF2 doesn't even hit the OG BF2 vibe as well as the PSP games did.
The OG definitely had the better hero’s as well. I would have loved to see jango and mace in the new game
That and flying is terriblenin the new game, let alone how rare it is to get a hero
it is not rare to get a hero at all lmao. Other than that i agree.
I still play Star Wars Battlefront 2 Classic!
Who needs customization and other crap, when 2005 is much more fun?
The ‘customization’ in the newer game is a joke too. It only amounts to players wearing random skins and ruining any sense of immersion and team synchronicity.
@@OffendEveryoneImmediately Exactly the problem. The biggest issue with customization in these games is that EA wants to sell you the skins, so they show you a top-performing player wearing something ridiculous, and that makes you go "Oh, that's cool, should buy that so that can be just as cool"
A toggle to make it so that each legion is canonical to each map, or that each cosmetic is canonical to each map (Geonosis droids on Geonosis, 501st mixed with 212th in Phase 1 on Kamino) would have been a massive help to immersion.
in 2019 we were expecting a 2005s battlefront2 but with better graphics and instead we got that lame sht
The OG battlefront 2 is better in my book
The series hasn't finished yet, still got 2 more parts.
i feel like the different eras should have different weapons because a clone trooper with an e-11d doesn’t make much sense its like a WWi soldier with an MP40
No that’s why there coming out with the 2000s ones again! 😂
This aged like milk
They should have let you squad spawn on ground vehicles to fill in gunner seats and such.
The remake animations are so slow and awkward, plus space battles in the new one suck I don’t care how good they look
I actually found the movements and animation were great as long as the servers were working fine. Never slowed me down tbh. But yes one of the biggest things 2017 BF2 was lacking were the space battles
@@invaderIRK1 og bf2 has cooler tech like the detpack glitch and some of the hero lightsaber swings like Luke’s back swing
@@greatwhite3512 I agree they should have done proper jetpack instead of jumppacks in the new BF2. But in terms of heros, the new one is better in every way. All the abilities and animation are a perfect reflection of the actual characters from the movies and TV series. No other game has done hero characters better to date
@@greatwhite3512 dont get me wrong i love the original, played it more than any other game back in the day. But im not gonna ignore the good things that the new one does either
@@invaderIRK1 I don’t feel like a Jedi in the new one movement is slow and like it was said in the video the saber throw is way better in the old one
of course the OG battlefront is better, and its not just nostalgy
the OG battlefront had much much better gameplay mechanics, vehicle controlls are better, heroes are not overly OP and singleplayer is playable, not to mention the galactic conquest and superior story mode (also modders can make OG battlefront another experience with new maps, classes, heroes, character models ect.)
EA battlefront only has better graphics, but terrible mechanics, certain CO-OP maps are unplayable, heroes are just brokenly OP and story mode isnt great
The new battlefronts aren’t even in the same genre of game😂. The new battlefront is a fucking hero shooter.
Interesting video, but its not pokemon so 0/10 (jk, I actually liked it)
hehe glad you enjoyed!
Just with the new bf2 it was more PVE focused and wasnt killed of early
Great video and breakdown but you have to admit that the Droideka rush maneuver in CS on the Republic Venator is BS
Battlefront always felt as a more refined Battlefield. (Except for 2142, that one still reigns supreme above all)
I would love a game that has the original's ideas that couldn't be implemented back in the days due to hardware limitations. or just BF3 (in the unreal engine 3 or a foss alternative).
1 simple answer. Same as battlefields. They removed hop in vehicles and it feels like specops not a battlefield
My reason for preferring EA SWBF2 is that I find the objectives and large game modes more varied an interesting. Planting bomb, capture point etc. geonosis is so much fun at the final stage.
While I admittadely enjoyed walker assult a lot in the 2015 Battlefront. I can none the less refute your argument with one word.
Hunt.
I played the sh*t out of both & the original SWBF2 is much better & had such a bigger impact!
When the ps2 versions has more content than the new ones.
Better naps. Land to air combat. An actual good campaign. Galactic conquest
Some of the maps actually had nkre details than the newer ones. Like in geonosis on 2004 version you could go into the separatist meeting room and view rhe map if the actual battle taking place outside.
2004 had seperate factions like tusken raiders wbo wpuld actually fight the rebels or the empife and take objectives from either side
2005 had nkre game modes like hunt for example you want to play as a wanpa fighting debels go for it. You wanna llay as a geonosian go for ot. How about a gungan🤣
The newer battlefront gamws are fun but thats about it
You completely ignore or vaguely brush over many important qualities of both games, and it shows your bias towards Battlefront 2 2017. Single player? Predatory pay to win loot box grind fests? Galactic conquest? 🤔
The loot boxes are gone but the other points are true
Both scratch different itches but 2005 is my fav
Say what you want about the EA Battlefront II but you can’t deny that they nailed the maps and environments
Back in the day Battlefront 2 was great but now as an adult that bores the hell out of me.
But the remake is unplayable unless online which sucks.
The remakes lacks in the basic, no single player
it has instant action
I love playing as heroes in both games, I live for the lightsabers Yaknow
And Ea’s battlefront 2 saber combat is amazing (when it was updated anyway)
Plus the amount of customization man, I love the classic but this game hits all the marks
I just hate how the live service was cut needlessly at the height of its popularity and with no sign of a sequel, it just feels cursed, fuck EA for that alone
Could be better, a for honor system would be way better. This system could turn on when you lock on to an enemy by pressing the right stick on the controller. This would improve lightsaber duels by a large margin.
@@paulallen2680 tbh that sounds like a terrible idea
Well.. maybe not if it worked flawlessly
Like for honors combat system would be good except for the fact that fighting in that game is so jank and unresponsive it makes me wanna kms plus the collision can be semi bad and we all know how jank, unresponsive, and terrible the collision is in this game already
Jank because of the stagger system needlessly freezing you when someone didn’t even hit your side
Unresponsive by abilities not working sometimes when you press them or your block not being up because of slightly uneven terrain and the animation being faster than the ability
Terrible collision because I’ve seen people get hits from like a foot away from where their saber actually swung at times
For honor you just get stun locked consistently and you can be spamming the dodge button after a hit for like 5 minutes and stay sat there like a dumbass, plus some of the characters attacks seem undodgable but yaknow probably a skill issue
Although I like EA's Battlefront 2, that game is a reboot, not a remake. An important difference.
I like a lot about dice bfii. But I feel like its big issue is too many modes and maps stuck only in one mode that is rarely played.
I like how classic has all modes on all maps and all maps in instant action.
HAHAHHAHA WE GONNA REALLY SEE NOW AFTER THE NEWS
I'm late, but the Gameplay for the reboot was far superior.. except it's too balanced, and not enough freedom like the original.
No Original battlefront 2005 still best battlefront and stand test of time EA battlefront 2017 never came close
Eas game being on sale for 4 bucks constantly and only really working with mods should tell you everything
EA’s battlefront 2 technically isn’t a remake cause it has absolutely nothing to do with (2005) battlefront 2
Felucia and Kamino specifically need their Dice maps included, as much as I love Kamino in og BF2 - heck bring them both for spearate modes haha)
and for the love of god, can we stop having classes that can just shoot rockets at your feet? It wasn't fun 20 years ago, and its not fun now in the remakes lmao. Fuck.
back when games used to be fun
Personally elite squadron should’ve been the new BF3
One has a singleplayer dynamic campaign one is just battlefield star wars.
