    Great tip, never lost a fish yet over many years, but this knot for salmon fishing i will be trying, makes a lot of sense. Trying new knots is omg but like this one. I will practice it at home then go fishing when we get rain, badly needed. Thanks again.

      Definitely worth a go Paul 👌it's a well proven knot even before being adapted to hold a fly

      Good stuff Keith, it hasn't let me down yet...nor has overhand loop knots in general for line to leader connection 👍

    Sean i tied this knot using 12lb, 10lb and 8lb (i fish big salmon flies and very small salmon flies), my only question is i use quality leader line (tried and tested over many fish), yes 12lb chance of a break slim, but on the 10lb and 8lb say a double could the loop snap. Ive always used the 5 and 1 or 5 and 3 method and always pull up with a small pliers the bit we all snip near the knot. But i love this knot and hopefully not a daft question.

      I have 100% confidence in this knot Paul. It was shown to me by Paddy McDonell, an extremely knowledgeable guide on the Moy
      It has the exact same strength as an overhand loop knot, same knot but fly in loop, which anglers have been using for years.

    What knot would you use for droppers Sean?

    • @SeánWoodsFishing
      @SeánWoodsFishing  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Derrick, assume you mean for the fly and not to create the dropper? I use a tucked half blood knot for flies on a dropper

    How does it compare strength-wise to a non-slip mono loop?

    • @SeánWoodsFishing
      @SeánWoodsFishing  Год назад +1

      Hi Richard, I hope you enjoyed the video. I have never used a non slip mono knot and couldn't compare like for like I'm afraid

    • @richardashby8752
      @richardashby8752 Год назад +1

      It looks much easier to control the loop size with this knot vs. the non-slip mono loop. The advantage of the non-slip knot is that the tag end points towards the eye so less likely to catch weed. I’ll try a few strength tests!

      Knots are a personal preference and you can use known knots or make your own if you think that's better so yep. I have used the rapala knot for decades on the big salmon here in Norway and never had any problems so i'll just keep using it.@@SeánWoodsFishing
