I hope this video helps you! Let me know which of these habits gave you the biggest "aha" moment 🧡 Here's where you can download my free workbook, to go a little deeper with this: drkimfoster.com/mindset
Now in my early 50s it's the first time in my life when I am putting myself first and taking steps that are slowly becoming habits. I am really starting to feel good and I do this for me only.
I’m 61yo and still not quite there …serving adult daughter, her dog and my elderly parents while working full time. But a sea change. I want to tell young women start at 20yo ….financial independence, personal goals other than relationship goals, genuine hobbies and interests
1 Believe in yourself. 2) Overcome aversion of loss 3) Get rid of All or nothing thinking (expect progress not perfection) 4)Make feeling good most important 5) Make changes out of self-love, not self-loathing.
Thank you Doctor Kim! such sensible advice, no nonsense but kind and compassionate also! The Henry Ford quote about 'Whether you think you can or think you can't, you are right', really hit home for me. Also another quote I heard recently was 'It's not about making the right decision, more about making the decision right' which is all about a having no regrets - make the decision and make it work, change it if it really doesnt work but whatever you decide - decide it, and once you have committed, don't waste time thinking about what vwould have happened if you had decided another way, just go with it and make it work, as there is no gurantee the other way/s would have been any better!
Loss aversion and make the decision right! Wow, clear perspective! I have struggled my whole life with making sure my decision was the right one and overthinking all the things that could go wrong, suddenly I am 68 and once again should I retire or save two more years and in fact, I don’t need to but the letting go of that security blanket was driving me crazy. In the span of a week, 3 people I know passed away my age or 4 years older and 2 of them working to the end. Decision made, can’t buy time. Thanks for the affirmation!
What hit me was "aim for progress, not perfection!" I will DO an action, probably walk, for a period of time that may vary between 20-30 minutes. If, while walking, I desire to move my body a bit longer, it's my choice! Progress! Thank you, A New Subscriber
Thank you Kim for some positive talking to! I think it’s striving for perfection every time is where you got me! Will try and aim for progress than perfection! ❤
All your Films go to rhe point. You are very clear in Your explanations. I appreciation the helpful Knowledge and Experience You share. You are Great❤Thank You
I never really heard of loss aversion in this way. I think I have a lot of this when I think about changing jobs/careers and your advice makes sense. This one spoke to me the most. Thanks for the positive, compassionate message.
Absolutely awesome video! I was struck by "make changes out of self love, not self loathing." It can be so easy to get down on ourselves and in my experience, and I am sure in the experience of many others, that often is not a place from which to initiate positive changes. Thank you for all of these great pieces of wisdom! I could talk on and on about all of them!
I think the one thing that hit me most is. By skipping family functions to take better of myself. I do things alot of times even when I am not feeling well because I’m afraid to make people mad at me.
Loss aversion speaks the loudest and then the perfectionist mind set. I work 12 hour shifts and I am a single mother with 1 teen still at home (4 children total) and her sports schedule is constant. Which in turn makes me very protective of my time at home and even time to rest because it feels so limited. In turn I don’t want to give up this precious time and I the perfectionism of starting a project and potentially not being to finish it kicks in then the cycle of why can’t I get more one like I used to… Slowly learning progress over perfection. Thank you so much for breaking these habits down and sharing mind sets that keep us from positive change.
I like your steps to improve my life in good direction very interesting and inspiring message I love your words giving me light to my life appreciate your help
This is great advice for all seasons of life.I learned alot, and will share this with those I love.Thank you for the free ebook, and nice to meet you,I subcribed!!
Wow I have just come across your video and one of your points made me really listen, I am a widow of 15years and all my friends are married but invite me out. I have met men on dating sites and really likes some but my so called friends say “ don’t you go with him and for get about me I am your best friend”. In the past I have cancelled dates as friends say we will go out and I wait in all day and they never contact me and so I know I was putting first what I was afraid to lose ie their friendship before whatI could have ie relationship.. Thank you for opening my eyes and I look forward to watching more of your videos x
I think youthat you are very smart and have the nolegto help alot of people like me. Also got to say you are so amazingly beautiful and so very sweet person keep up with the great work coolcat dan 🎉🎉🎉
First of all thank you for your videos. Its hard to know what to do with so many videos. If I do the detox will that help constipation. If not how can I get everything moving? I’m having gut issues and I want to get my life back on track. I have a very ill grown daughter which I believe is causing stress level to soar. Thank you for your help. Kathy
I think my loss aversion comes from my trauma, not wanting to lose the things that were very important and attached to memories... like I sort of feel if I were to gain a new things and lose the old ones it would be disrespectful to the memory of the things that I loved. recently I've been trying to clean and fix my hoarding issue, which is attached to my loss aversion, by thanking the things that I throw away, even tiny pieces of trash, for their service. Does anybody have any advice for how I can help fix the fear of succeeding and gaining new things, a better life etc?
I agree - we can admire some who took unusual risks and got very big wealth after they were lucjy and became famous, but homeless vans have much more people who believed in impossible while hoping for big gains and now they have problem because their van is occupying someones place. I wonder , how long is lecture author's life experience and how much her pretty image impacts her selfconfidence in lecturing "all" others.
I wanna do that to shake-up my life. And I'll really link some changes in my life.We don't say this to you.I know you're a girl.I'm not guy and Danny miller. I live in ocean city, New Jersey. And I need your help to make the change of my life change
Your advice near the end totally relies on having a decent partner who steps up. It shouldn't just be about mum's stepping back, if dad's stepped up then mums wouldnt be so overwhelmed
I like your videos, but the example of investing in the financial market is out of place. A decision to change a job or take evening classes to learn something new would have been more appropriate 😢
Actually loss aversion is a very good trait particularly when it comes to playing lotto, day trading, or gambling where the fear of loss out paces the enjoyment of gain 7 to one. Generally people do not skip daily exercise because of loss aversion but because of laziness, overlong inertia and procrastination. I believe you got this one wrong.
I hope this video helps you! Let me know which of these habits gave you the biggest "aha" moment 🧡

The good Doc is too gorgeous for words. Good god.
Excellent
Loss aversion another good point 🎉
I'm from Guatemala
Quite nice.
But 5:42 - investing in stock market is not the best example
I think my loss aversion comes from my trauma, not wanting to lose the things that were very important and attached to memories... like I sort of feel if I were to gain a new things and lose the old ones it would be disrespectful to the memory of the things that I loved. recently I've been trying to clean and fix my hoarding issue, which is attached to my loss aversion, by thanking the things that I throw away, even tiny pieces of trash, for their service.

The introduction is too long
Cool 🆒 words.

very nice,,,,
Intro is far too long
Good RUclips
I wanna do that to shake-up my life. And I'll really link some changes in my life.We don't say this to you.I know you're a girl.I'm not guy and Danny miller. I live in ocean city, New Jersey. And I need your help to make the change of my life change
How to believe if you believe that believing doesn’t help
Too much preamble
Bla bla bla...
Your advice near the end totally relies on having a decent partner who steps up. It shouldn't just be about mum's stepping back, if dad's stepped up then mums wouldnt be so overwhelmed
Yes it takes too to tango, weather your a man or woman.
Start telling before you make me leave
I like your videos, but the example of investing in the financial market is out of place. A decision to change a job or take evening classes to learn something new would have been more appropriate 😢
Loss aversion 😮
You’re lovely, and the ringlight reflection in your eyes wigs out my ADHD…
You're are so beautiful! ❤
I’m going to tell myself that the beautiful, intelligent Kim Foster wants me to get better.
The one that sabotages me most is the "all or nothing thinking".
What are you complaining about? Mindset problem?
❤❤❤
Bad advice about the stock market, you are suggesting to gamble their sanity for possible gain of assets. No thank you, done that but no more chasing.
.
Number 3 describes me to a tee
Actually loss aversion is a very good trait particularly when it comes to playing lotto, day trading, or gambling where the fear of loss out paces the enjoyment of gain 7 to one. Generally people do not skip daily exercise because of loss aversion but because of laziness, overlong inertia and procrastination. I believe you got this one wrong.
You're introduction of what you were going to share is SOOOO long, I gave up. Movin' on.
