I have spent hours on finding a good video! I was finally able to understand how to create shallow depth of field after watching this video. Thank you! your video was easy to follow and went straight to the point- unlike other tutorials.
@@theschoolofphotography I have learned this already recently but this was a great compact video with all the info in one video and I wanted a quick recap :D
For the first time i understand how to do bokeh using kit lens and i'm proud to owned not expensive camera and the key is also practice and learning . Thank you sir !
This was great! I kept getting only hexagonal bokeh and couldn't figure out how to get round. I did what was instructed with success! Now no more hexagons. Thank you so much!
This is the most straight forward tutorial my brain can understand! im super new in photography using canon sx70hs. Just tried your method and it worked. thank you sir!
thank you for this simple-to-follow tutorial. It made taking photos with bokeh effect so easy. I applied the tips this morning and was rewarded with great photos right at our backyard!
Such an amazing educational video on how to do Bokeh properly. This has indeed helped me to have an understanding on how to do it. I was practicing with an 85mm on a D3S, I will try the 50mm today to see how it comes out. Thank you for taking the time to do this video.... Very helpful indeed, you've found a new fan in me.
Excellent video - common sense really for us 'steam-radio' photographers. But if we all had common sense then we would all be genius’s. Many thanks for a great tutorial - I found it more than useful.

I'm new to studying photography/video and looking to upgrade from my current camera the Canon Elph SD850 IS to get HD quality. In the meantime I want to become more technically adept in using what I have. I came across this tutorial and was amazed at what I was able to do in minutes to get the Bokeh effect using my Canon Elph SD850 IS! I was blown away with what I was able to get after pausing this video and going out to my backyard. I'm so inspired! I'll post my shots for feedback. Thanks!!!
I took the photos just before the morning sun got too bright. Our backyard has trees on the east side so it was the perfect background to take bokeh effect. Photos turned out great - thank you for the simple tips! I even got almost-hexagon shapes for the bokeh background. Amazing how there is so much in nature to see and create awe and wonder.
Wonderful tutorial. How would I take bokah shots (without a particular subject) so I can print them out and use them as bokah backdrops for bird photography set ups? I would prefer not to use an editing program just yet. Thanks in advance.
Hello Marc, This video was a good learning to me.. Can I ask how do we set the exposure compensation(Brighter image) when the camera setting is in the manual mode? I use the canon 200d
Hi you wouldn't use exposure compensation in manual mode, you would brighten or darken the image via the shutter speed or aperture or ISO. Hope that helps 👍

Definitely but you must realize that your aperture will decrease the more you zoom in, but never fear, you will still get wonderful bokeh if you just follow the instructions in this video. I have Nikon 28-300mm and always get beautiful bokeh on M, A and S modes.Good luck!
