How To Start An Ecommerce Business (and Make $7,500/month)

- Are you wondering how to start an online store? Portland Razor Company know how to start an ecommerce business with staying power, and they’ll share these insights in todays video.
Portland Razor Company was founded in 2014 in pursuit of the perfect shaving experience, and by 2017 they operated an ecommerce business, a brick-and-mortar retail space, and a barbershop, along with manufacturing their own razors and strops. When the pandemic closed their physical spaces, they went all-in with their online store, and sales are going strong in 2021.
Portland Razor Company’s founders didn’t have tons of savings to finance their company-instead, they sold their cars to launch the business. We’ll get their advice on how to start ecommerce with no money, and what you absolutely need to budget for when you’re starting from scratch. Since they’ve also run a retail space, we’ll get their opinion on the pros and cons of ecommerce, and whether they’ll go back to a physical location in the future.
One of the biggest questions about e-commerce business for beginners is how to get customers as an online-only business. By now, Portland Razor Company has built a community around their brand, but that doesn’t happen overnight. My wife and I started our ecommerce business in 2019 and have grown it to about 40k a month in sales (albeit less margin than these guys). It's grown so well we were able to move from an 1800sq ft home to a 3300sq ft nicer house with much more room for the business. We moved from portland just down to milwaukie or and ecommerce has been amazing for us.

Any story about making razors interests me. My great grandfather was a blacksmith who specialized in making straight razors for barbers in Maine and New Hampshire from the late 1800's until the 1920's.

Plenty of businesses build the cost of shipping into the sale price of goods and call it "free" shipping. We prefer to have transparency in our pricing and charge what our products and services actually cost. Hence: $9 flat-rate USPS Priority shipping.
Flat-rate shipping is good for customers because they know what to expect. And it's good for us because we spend less time + money weighing packages, buying different sized boxes, and we see an increase average order volume (AOV).
People won’t complain when they have to pay for shipping on their iPhones though?!🙄
@@MamaBearSWAG first of all most phones with that high of a priced are free shipping. In the price ratio to an iPhone compared to a razor is way different; therefore wouldjustify the shipping cost of $9. if there were to charge. Which they dont
