For anyone struggling with this race, downgrade engine, ecu, turbo and nos to 2 and it will be totally beatable on hard difficulty. With all lvl3 upgrades and uniques, the bots go mad and warp through hyperspace so you can't catch them on straights using full nos.
The opponents will always catch up no matter what; even if you play at 'Easy', the difference will be small. Reduce your top speed, but keep your acceleration as high as possible by playing with the performance upgrades. In this way, the opponents won't catch up that easily anymore and it will make the race easier for you to win.
i managed to get lap times down to 44-45 seconds on my miata; miata has by far the best handling in this game but yeah, essentially - you can drive a perfect 7 laps and still end up like 3rd, it's more about how many mistakes they make than your driving skill

I know the racebreaker feature wasn't a thing yet, but looking back at this race, THIS FUCKING RACE, I think the A.I. secretly had it while the player didn't. It would explain the massive rubber banding.
I remember "Kurt's Killer Ride" took me literally months until I passed it. I don't know if maybe even a year. This one took me several weeks, but definitely not as much as "Kurt Killer Ride". Those were the hardest races in the game, no doubt.
This is indeed one of the hardest races in gaming ever, but one thing that people don't know is that it is much easier to win it using manual transmission rather than auto. Somehow it appears that bots start to make some racing mistakes when gears are switched by yourself. Another thing to consider here is that you should get the 1st place in about 20 seconds from the start and then don't let anyone get ahead of you, since in this case your chances to win will be close to 0, nitro gives a small hope.

Downgrade all speed performance upgrade to level 2 including nos, aka engine, transmission, turbo etc. keep all handling upgrades(tires, suspension, brakes etc.) at level 3. Easy win. AI rubber bands a lot less when you downgrade making it a whole lot easier to win.
When i played NFSU first time i almost uninstalled this game in rage mode after this fuckin race! Then i ve just placed 2lvl upgrades instead of 3rd and beat them up easily. On the second walkthrought I took Mazda MX-5 and won after first try.
I couldn't beat "Kurt's Killer Ride" (Event 95) without downgrading my cars performance so I could finally pass it on hard. At this event I really really wanted to try and beat it without doing that but oh my fucking god that goddamn purple RX-7 tried to wreck me so many times. The AI in both these events were so rigged. They take corners at VERY high speed without braking, sometimes even hitting things but just bouncing off them without losing speed. Not to mention that because there so fast that once they get ahead, that's it, game over. Good luck catching them because if there passed you it ain't gonna happen. The only way I beat it was to lead right from the start of the race and stay ahead the entire time and block them so they dont pass and holy shit thats nerve wracking. I came SO close to losing it multiple times and bc its 7 damn laps there plently time for failure. The last lap the RX-7 was literally grazing my rear bumper and at every tap I nearly spun, constantly looking back to see what evasive action it would take next to try and zip around me. Finally during the beginning of the last lap it came right up beside me so I sent it sailing into a tunnel column. Bitch finished last >:D

So the AI could drive perfect without mistakes and use their endless nitro. Everyone keeps saying Kurt's Killer Ride is hard. Really it's not, that race is easy af on hard. Enduro Street Circuit is hard tho. The first two time's I played this game it wasn't as hard my third time playing now. That race is actually crazy hard and I hate it now
@GabrielCharlie The thing is, this track has 3 corners in which you can’t take going faster than 110 MPH while the AI is taking them with 160 MPH. At least in Kurt’s Ride there are only two of that kinda corner

Managed to win it on hard with stage 2 in most of the speed upgrades and the rx-7. Also i pushed Matt to that "shortcut" wall in the corner of the airport on lap 3. Absolutely the hardest race. Kurt's Killer Ride took me like 5 tries compared to this that took me like 16 tries
Strangely enough I had no major problem with race 95 at max upgrade and hard difficulty, thought I did feel the difficulty spike compare to other races. But race 103....eight letters: The first letter is "F", the second letter is "U", the third letter is "C", the fourth letter is "K", fifth letter is "M", the sixth letter is "A", the seven and final letter are both "T".
I was almost sweating just watching you run this. Those a**holes always manage somehow to catch up to you and once they leave you behind, you stay there. I think it wouldn't be a problem in 3-4 lap race. I was ready to give up on this. Apparently you have to master handbrake even though you are required to use it only during drift. The game is very subtle about SHARP 90 degree turns, they are rare, but I had zero clue about how to make them. I was taught by the game that you push handbrake to make 180 and lose. Anyways I'm glad you managed to beat the race in your cool civic. =)
Hey dude this isn't ketchup. This is more of a 'enhanced handling of doom', this game doesn't really include catch up. Remember the last corner before finish line? I've seen the S200 steer at 90 angle in full speed. Yeah. Next to me. Catch up is what happens when the opponents fall too behind, but if you see AI passing you like it's an online race, now that ain't catch up :p
Well sometimes I'm like 8 seconds ahead and AI in second place catches up to me while I make absolutely no mistake.. But yeah this game is fucked and this race specifically pissed me off
Agreed totally; that was the first thought that came to my mind too the first time I played this race- that its the worst track possible... And then I had to play it about 100 times more before I could win it.
If you choose easy or hard, it doesn't matter one small mistake can ruin whole race...the bots are able to catch you in full speed in a quarter of circuit... If I won in the past it was always because I played dirty against them.
RX-7 without any downgrade was the answer for this race in my case. I tried Miara and Acura but they were too slow. Also a bit of luck is always a must :D
This game and the 2005 MW were the only two NFS games where I could actually feel I'm going fast af. And it felt good. It felt so good. Good old arcade. Fck simulations.
It is not just have driving skill to win this race, it also need blocking skill (block opponent's line or just smash them). That's the only way you can win this race. And lucky obviously
in this race, patience & concentration is indeed. :X men.! it costs me a several restarts x_x but when I try manual transmission, I've won at last :D I believe it's more reliable & fun compare to auto transmission. I used Nissan Skyline. B)

AI in this game is imbalanced as fuck. It has crazy handling (can pass 120 degree turn at full speed) and crazy speed boost. So AI can reach you always, no matter how fast are you driving.
im stuck on race 95 kurts killer ride (hey that rymes, lol) but i got nissan skyline full upgrade all extreme upgrades and i still cant handle six laps :(
While the Skyline is the fastest car in the game, the handling is however it's weak point, so the skyline becomes useless in tracks with many (sharp) curves
Ok so to beat this race your firstly gonna wanna downgrade your current car to number 2 engine, number 2 E.C.U, number 2 turbo and number 2 nitrous then your gonna wanna switch to a Mazda Mx-5 (even if you are currently using a skyline or rx-7 trust me this is the easiest way as the Mx-5 has the best handling in the game) then go into the race and get in frost ASAP then try your hardest to stay in 1st throughout as the AI is quite hard to catch the 350z and the s2000 will be your main competition and use your nitrous when you make a mistake I completed this race in 6 minutes 42 seconds so you want to aim for around 6 minutes 40 seconds and that’s it hope this helped 👍🏾
Not true about the handling. The Integra has more downforce and grip and is far less prone to spin. Max it out, follow basic race-line telemetry and optimise your braking technique. Stop looking for easy outs, it's worth it to use this race as an exercise in skill building and technique mastery.

It really worked (even on the PS2), when I temporarily changing the Integra, after this race I took again the Skyline, the races after this is much become easier than this fucking race.
There's one time that i used a peugeot 206 in this race in hard, i usually get 42 or 41 per lap but..... The 3 cpu's where behind me all the race, they didn't crash in all the 7 laps, usually the third and the fourth place gets lost, but in this race they were all behind me, and i won.

This game has an obsession with making me suffer on this horrible terminal track. Even on "easy" difficulty, the a.i. is fucking unbeatable. They will always magically catch up as soon as I brake for a corner (as one should) and as soon as they pass you, there is no catching up with them unless you're lucky and they have an accident. I almost won the race but in the final corner of the final lap, the RX-7 of all cars zoomed past me OF COURSE
No, it wasn't. There are 112 events in this game, but events #95 and #103 and generally regarded as the hardest. Everything after this one is pretty straightforward and not too hard to win unless your car is garbage.

Shoulda gone to spec-savers. Then you would have seen that the Skyline is vastly outmatched by the RX-7 and Integra on this race. (Yes, dw I sent this comment back in time to 8 years ago by using the faster than lightspeed travel that can be achieved by a maxed out Integra)
This race here was one of the most annoying races I did in this game. The rubberbanding is crazy I had to constantly ram the AI and hog the inside line just to win
I still can't beat this fucking race! I'm using the Nissan 200sx which has pretty good acceleration but the computer catch me up taking the corners impossible fast
got it first try on hard full upgrades. Just let Matt cheat for the first 6 laps. on the 7th he returns to a normal level of cheating where you can pass him. Maybe the problem for people is that they restart once matt gets incredibly far ahead?
I used to hate this race, took me hundred of tries but then my dumbass just needs to stop hitting the walls to go around corners and just use the handbreak and breaks Like a normal racer.. Lol
NFS U isn't really a racing game. It's more like a Mario Kart because if you play good the AI plays faster without to use the true caracteristic of his car. The AI is a hardcore cheater in all the physic game. The game make a trafic when your camera haven't a vision. Everything to create the difficulty. If you play slowly the AI wait you. If you make a hotlap the AI cheat. I lost many races with better hotlap than video youtube races winning... The most important is in the last 3 or 2 tracks. Watch the beautiful landscape while the first 5 or 4 rounds of circuits. ;)
Totally feel your pain, my man. Literally took 7+ years throughout childhood playing this game to really sit down and beat this race, and now I'm pushing to post competitive times with the Integra which might actually have an advantage over the RX-7 in Terminal Rev. due to the sharp turns and unpresedented handling of the Integra. Hopefully if you eventually come back you try out a maxed out Integra to finally beat race #103

"Who's Got Endurance?" is another frustrating race.. But not nearly as much as this one. This is likely the most difficult race ever in any NFS game.

i found kurt's killer ride (#95 if i remember correctly) much more challenging because of the super heavy traffic

I failed this race 10 times on hard with my Eclipse before I gave up. Then I switched to the RX-7 and barely won at first try.

Even if skyline is the fastest car u should use Toyota celica or honda civic because they have good handling

I crutched it using rx7 and its op handling. If s2000 gets in first place it's quite literally impossible to beat lolol

The 3 cpu's where behind me all the race, they didn't crash in all the 7 laps, usually the third and the fourth place gets lost, but in this race they were all behind me, and i won.

This game has an obsession with making me suffer on this horrible terminal track. Even on "easy" difficulty, the a.i. is fucking unbeatable. They will always magically catch up as soon as I brake for a corner (as one should) and as soon as they pass you, there is no catching up with them unless you're lucky and they have an accident. I almost won the race but in the final corner of the final lap, the RX-7 of all cars zoomed past me OF COURSE

No, it wasn't. There are 112 events in this game, but events #95 and #103 and generally regarded as the hardest. Everything after this one is pretty straightforward and not too hard to win unless your car is garbage.

This race is fcking hard for me :( i have a Nissan Skyline with almost max acceleration and top speed but still they catch up
Shoulda gone to spec-savers. Then you would have seen that the Skyline is vastly outmatched by the RX-7 and Integra on this race.
(Yes, dw I sent this comment back in time to 8 years ago by using the faster than lightspeed travel that can be achieved by a maxed out Integra)

This race here was one of the most annoying races I did in this game. The rubberbanding is crazy I had to constantly ram the AI and hog the inside line just to win

got it first try on hard full upgrades. Just let Matt cheat for the first 6 laps. on the 7th he returns to a normal level of cheating where you can pass him. Maybe the problem for people is that they restart once matt gets incredibly far ahead?

Very Easy Way=Simply Use Peugeot 206 with downgrade lv2 parts in engine, ecu, turbo and nos.

I used to hate this race, took me hundred of tries but then my dumbass just needs to stop hitting the walls to go around corners and just use the handbreak and breaks Like a normal racer.. Lol
NFS U isn't really a racing game. It's more like a Mario Kart because if you play good the AI plays faster without to use the true caracteristic of his car. The AI is a hardcore cheater in all the physic game. The game make a trafic when your camera haven't a vision. Everything to create the difficulty. If you play slowly the AI wait you. If you make a hotlap the AI cheat. I lost many races with better hotlap than video youtube races winning... The most important is in the last 3 or 2 tracks. Watch the beautiful landscape while the first 5 or 4 rounds of circuits. ;)

Totally feel your pain, my man. Literally took 7+ years throughout childhood playing this game to really sit down and beat this race, and now I'm pushing to post competitive times with the Integra which might actually have an advantage over the RX-7 in Terminal Rev. due to the sharp turns and unpresedented handling of the Integra.
Hopefully if you eventually come back you try out a maxed out Integra to finally beat race #103

Because the Terminal Reverse track is hard, this track is bad and rage inducing because of the AI they move so fast.
Hardest circuit race. It took me 50 tries to beat it and a skyline. Don't try it with a s2000

A little late, but there's a 6 lap race on this circuit *with* traffic too, which is actually even harder than this race.
