    Holy shit so easy to see the difference between the expression of a subjective ethic in Fi (everyone has valid viewpoints to them) vs. the Objective ethic of Fe (everyone is probably somewhat right but there is an ideal truth to be discovered [ti]).

    This is such a fun interaction to watch! I am an ENTP female and I can totally see myself being like Boris but like a younger female version! LOL DUH!
    I think it will be fun for us to talk about what it is like to be NTs as females and how it impacts our personal lives differently than it would for other more feeler type women. If you and calypso are down to collaborate with me, please let me know! It will be fun! ;D

    Yeah I hate it when I can feel tension between people in a discussion, I don't want the whole thing to turn into a personal argument so I like to step in and try to diffuse the tension and get things back to a logical tract. I think our Fe wants people to be happy too, although as ENTPs it's not our end goal, just something that pokes it's head out every so often.

    Hi ESTP here and I like this video. Interesting to see a discussion between two shadows (I call them shadows because the ENTP has function 5,6,7 and 8 of the INTJ and the other way around). I've been married to my shadow (an ISTJ) for many years now and learned my wife and I seem to speak the same language (S, T, F, N) but still we are very different (i vs e for every function). Thanks to MBTI, I learned to understand the way she sees the world. As I've developed my third and fourth functions during my life quest (Ni still being a kid), I learned to appreciate Fe and Ni users. That probably explains why I feel I've more in common with INFJs and ENFJs these days (I love to dive deep with them) while that was not the case 20 years ago.
    Also liked the video because I share Ti-Fe as 2nd and 3rd function with the ENTP. It resonates with me that Fe is the motivator for ETPs but Ti decides. Thank you for the video.

  • @katieplant384

    This concept of the third function being the hidden agenda makes sense to me. As an Infp, I can see how my Si may be doing this. When I look at my choices in the past, I think I've been driven by a need for comfort, which I think could be my Si...

    Love this video. I agree with Boris (he's my fav guest) 9:17 - 11:19. Validation and recognition of other people's perspective is key to resolving disagreements. Though with human nature, no one wants to be wrong. Right? Stubborn and or selfish people would rather bash their heads bloody against a wall instead of yielding to understand another point of view.
    As an Ni dom, Fe aux, Ti tertiary, I use all three when a tense situation has emerged and accelerating. I can see both person's perspective and do speak up to assist in thinking it through to find at least a common ground. Of course this comes from first hand experience and expanding your mind to learn more about the world. For example, one person is a forest conservationist (use wilderness natural resources wisely) and the other is for preservation (absolutely don't touch the wilderness). Well, both have to understand that everything humans have is created from nature and we live in economy driven world. I'm sure the preservationist still want creature comforts like homes, internet, mobile phones, clothing, etc. And the conservationist still want to breathe, camp, fish, eat, etc. So there has to be recognition and understanding on both sides to resolve an issue. In short, if people are myopic about an issue, they can miss out on great new innovations - a better way to live born out of disagreements.

    As a fellow INTJ female, I have noticed that I say feel in place of I think pretty often as well! It’s probably an INTJ female trait, since saying I think does come across as blunt, and women are still expected to be very sympathetic and have a softer approach when expressing their opinions. I am not familiar with the INTJ male experience so it would be interesting to see if they feel more free to say “I think” when they express their opinions. It could also be an intuitive thing, since it is more a conclusion that intuitives come to without much evidence, so calling this conclusion a complete concrete thought may be an injustice. Any thoughts?

    • @donwald3436
      @donwald3436 6 лет назад +6

      Sonja Ray INTJ male. I say feel because work is full of people who are offended by facts.

    • @cambriatevis6907
      @cambriatevis6907 6 лет назад +3

      I am INFJ, male partner is INTJ. INFJ and INTJ use their intuition externally with different goals- harmony vs efficiency. That its why I use the word "feel", my instinct is to create harmony. He uses the word "think" because his instinct is to create efficiency. I'm guessing that you adopted the word 'feel' instead of saying 'think' because you discovered it can be more efficient to reach your goals by getting along with feeler types or by blending in (so that the focus isn't on your stereotype defying behavior). As an INFJ I have realized that being more blunt can garner confidence and respect (mostly from men) but I do it so that I can create harmony in the end.
      "it is more a conclusion that intuitives come to without much evidence"- We have the evidence, it just isn't readily available to present to others in the moment that the intuitive thought comes to us. While I think it is important to question ones intuition, it is equally important to know when to trust it. Not everyone has honed their intuition like us so it's okay to trust it especially when you have to act quickly in the moment.
      I think that INTJ's can be very powerful influencers when they start trusting their intuition more. There are enough female feelers we need some thinkers out their breaking stereotypes.

    When Boris explains the way he handles arguments/miscommunications, it reminded me of a song by Russ, named “September 16,” because the whole premise of the song is having a verse to tell his Dad’s side of the story and another for his Mom’s. I suspect Russ to be an ENTP based on his interviews.

  • @godisagun
    @godisagun 7 лет назад +8

    ENTP values diversity in ideas, and Fe wanting to mediate failing communicators can be from wanting good debates where the details are clear and finding truth or incite is more likely to happen. It doesn't necessarily value "coming together" in that specific scenario even though Fe usually is concerned about collectivism in general. The Ti and decision making is also an interesting point. Ti ultimately has control over most behavior in the sense that it has the ability to force other functions into action or dormancy despite if that function originally desires or conflicts with the action being pressured. For instance, Ne can be subdued, Si can be followed, and Fe can be interpreted through the lenses of Ti. While Ne is unavoidable and will have a say in most everything as well, and Fe will come to its own conclusions, Ti will give both of these a form to work within. Which is why most advice to entps is to listen to your Ti if push comes to shove over anything.

  • @teresabre9843

    Haha I love the moderating part. I do this all the time. Mostly not in arguments or such things but just usual communication when I notice people don’t really understand each other and I am too impatient to wait for them to figure each other out in their own 😂 also when someone feels hurt or mistreated by another i step in to explain how they meant it... infp btw

    Harry M/s channel (I forgot his last name) talks about the empathetic ENTP and expands on this notion that ENTPs are actually more driven by their need to control the feelings of others and they take responsibility for the feelings of others. This he says drives them more than their Ti. I think the video is called "The ENTP Empath" and it's really interesting. It aligns with what this man is saying as well. Also I have an ENTP boss who seems to have a very difficult time when there is any conflict between people and he feels he needs to step in. It can actually be a problem because he will defer to vendors rather than protecting the interests of our organization because he's so concerned with keeping the vendors happy. Our boss had to talk to him about that on several occasions and in other scenarios where he does that as well.

  • @neverumindwho
    @neverumindwho 7 лет назад +15

    I enjoyed this video a lot. One thing though: as an INTJ, I find the "I feel..." parts of sentences very annoying as they (to me anyway) reduce the entire validity of what you're saying, because you give the impression that your opinion/idea is based on your emotions rather than your thoughts. Nothing wrong with being a bit brusque in my opinion, as long as the person you're communicating with understands that you are expressing a thought, not an emotion. It's become a particular bug-bear of mine, how the "I feel..." has started to infiltrate even quite scientific materials. I don't even understand why anyone would be more offended (?) by you saying "I think" as opposed to "I feel" - I personally would be more annoyed by "I feel" because it seems logic has gone out the window, and we cannot share opinions rationally because emotions are in the way. So, I think, no harm in bringing back more "I think xxx because yyy" - it's very liberating!

    • @cambriatevis6907
      @cambriatevis6907 6 лет назад +4

      People have emotions. If the subject that you have an opinion on involves people then it makes sense that emotion should be a factor in that opinion. Emotions can be facts. "So and so feels this way"...fact. Why can't emotions play a part in opinion if it is based on fact? It is really weird though when someone is like "I feel like this table is three feet". Also, I think that in the future it will be possible to measure emotion like it is possible to measure length. Emotion is just another variable, one that influences the human condition.

    I've come to see extraverted functions as the motivated functions and introverted functions as the filters, which is why extraverts have their extraverted functions more towards the top of the stack and why introverts have their introverted functions more towards the top of the stack. The middle letters, NT, SF, etc., tell you largely how you express your introversion or extraversion. This is because introversion is defined as a high sensitivity for information, meaning introverts get overloaded more easily, and extraversion is defined as a low sensitivity for information, meaning extraverts need more information to be stimulated. For instance, let's break down my functions:
    Ti - Is concerned with the intricacy of logical consistency
    Ne - is stimulated by new concepts
    Si - Is stimulated by the internal world
    Fe - Is concerned with being judged
    Now, let's break down my mirror's functions:
    Te - Is concerned with the external world being logically consistent
    Ni - Is stimulated by the intricacy of concepts
    Se - Is stimulated by the external world
    Fi - Is concerned with judging
    As an INTP, I value the air-tightness of my world and rationality, picking out every little flaw I can find, partially for fear of judgment (especially in social situations). An ENTJ, on the other hand, wants to piece together the external world in an effort to make it more rational, partly judging by what's valuable to them. So, as you can see, the extraverted functions are linked with a desire to interact with the world, and the specific functions which are extraverted tell you which way one wishes to do that, and the number of them in the top 3 tell you how strong that desire is. I was reminded of this all when he talked about Ti being a filter, and I was like, "I was just thinking about that". Lol.

  • @farrex0

    It is funny because as an ENTP I do use the wording "I feel" as something I learnt to use whenever I say something that has no logical grounding and therefore I don't really care much about. So my use of I feel is to express something that ironically means I could care less, or this might be illogical because I do not know much about it. I guess it was my way of mocking feelings without people even noticing, like another level of sarcasm that only I could get, because it was in code. Thankfully I have been learning to respect Fi more lately, I mean I have always tried to keep peace because of my Fe, but I would always see Fi as inferior and find ways to mock it without people noticing it (hopefully). Also there is no logical reason to antagonizing people just for the sake of feeding my ego. I have found so much happiness in actually helping people rather than being so distant and being delusional in some sense of superiority, which I always knew deep down that my view of life was wrong but for some reason I resisted to changing it. It is so funny, because there is nothing solid in any of my perspectives or point of view of mine, but I resist so much whenever feelings are involved.

  • @anamaxa

    I think that entps are similiar as intps and are basically doing the same thing. They are building logical structures, but because it's external and social the logical structure they build are dependent on these two factors. They play devil's advocate, ask questions that you actually have to think about, ect.
    As far as understanding two people who are miscommunicating, it makes sense that an entp would construct a rosetta stone, not for emotional reasons or content, but as a logical translatable reference between people and how they operate in the external world. In this case even if he is using his intuition between two people.
    The thing with entps is when other people aren't receptive to thinking out in the open helping the entp to figure things out that way. It can be really frustrating.
    Those are some of my thoughts anyway.

Intjs have Fe as their blind spot and relate things they can’t discern from it into their Se function
