    That's a sweet trailer, I love tilt deck trailers.... so much better than dealing with ramps etc especially if you haul a variety of things.

    When hauling equipment, you do NOT use ratchet straps. You ONLY use certified chain with binders. Also, you don't chain front-to-back, you cross chain. You're also playing a dangerous game using a pickup truck to pull 14000 GVW. If you have to hit the brakes hard that weight behind you will push you all over the road.

    I like that the trailer tilts automatically. My tilt trailer won’t tilt unless you drive up the ramps. That’s a sweet deal especially with the winch. Awesome score man!

    Real nice trailer there Dave. Low use by the previous owner equals longer life on those axles and bearings. Man, you've got some goid stuff over there. I've got to get a mini excavator next. I won't need an engine crane anymore. Hope the excavator isn't an either girl. Is it? Anyways. That's again for another ride along. I like how you included how it rode from in the cab. And your Ram pulled it with ease! You definitely have some cool equipment. Looking forward to seeing what you're doing with the Nova. I'm guessing you've taken it or are going to take it to Lebanon Valley. You'd know better than me, but New York State Five-0 is getting real tough on trucks and trailers lately. Even nailed my buddy for a 25 buck fine for missing a cap on his valve stem! I'm sure you know where the troopers hang out and set up temporary weigh stations. But Anyways, thanks again for showing us the trailer.

      No problem, yeah even yearly inspection are getting harder with the older trucks, cost me $5k last one I got inspected

    I have a very similar trailer, mine has the metal deck and the options, picked it up new in NC at Kaufman in 2014. Mine has a different tilt release, much easier to use. Hauled a case 580 backhoe though the Berkshiers with it...scary ride.

      The complaint I have about this trailer it rides really rough, the axles are too far forward.

      @@Dumpster_Dave For hundreds more, you could get a bagged hitch. They cost a grand but it sure would mellow your ride out. Just a thought. I have a tractor to pull but I'm retired so spending the money for me would not be smart.

    You have to factor in the tongue weight into the payload of the combination

    oh yeah 3:11 you can put whatever weight you want on a trailer and go....going to be a lot of sudden realizations when you see the stop light coming up and you're not stopping for some reason though. xD

    Thats still an $8-$12k trailer in NC, some idiots are paying $3-$5k for trailers built from old camper frames with no ramps or added reinforcement just wood boards screwed to the cheesy stamped sheet metal cross members.

      There is absolutely nothing wrong with hauling that excavator on that trailer with the pick up truck. I am unsure of the year of the truck but I am willing to bet that truck is rated to haul close to if not more 20,000 pounds gross GVW. Or more if it was a gooseneck. Definitely right on the straps. But in his case, seeing that he just purchased the trailer, I’m sure he has not had time to go out to buy the correct chains.

    Are you sure your 304 weighs 11,000? The one I haul around is under 10,000 with a cab and thumb…. The other thing to take into consideration when towing a trailer is the tongue weight the truck takes off the trailer. So if it’s rated for 15,000 and it weighs 3,000, but then the truck takes 2,000…you can actual haul 14,000

    • @Dumpster_Dave
      @Dumpster_Dave  2 года назад +2

      It says dry weight without a thumb 9800 pounds so figure close to 11k
