TeachermanHitting changed the damn game for me here on youtube. He taught Aaron Judge and he had a damn great year. No one can 100% ignore that. I was hitting slightly different, like you are here, but once I adopted this? I was easily going from .210 to double ish that. Kids? Suddenly I went from strike outs, to contact, base hits, even some doubles triples. No home runs yet, but that will come this is 12u and that does happen but we are working on it. Don't ignore advice, don't dismiss it. Try it, try flashlights, laser pointers, pvc pipes, whatever you need. The worse you can do is NOT listen to others and try it. I ignored it for MONTHS "No freaking way, that's weird, or weird, or I always did it this way" If you are not willing to look and observe and most importantly TRY for a full 2-3 DAYS, I'm not talking some BS lets take 20 swings oh ok, this is crap, but work his program. Dude and Dudettes, you will fly. I don't know the fn'g guy, but I can tell you after 25 years of BS, this connects, it gets passed down. Whatever, take it or leave it but you will be doing yourself bad if you ignore it! Peace out, happy baseball and all that happy stuff.
Just watched a Tony Gwynn video he instructed hands to the ball and demonstrated the swing as such. His swing was hands to the ball, top hand should be palm up and finish high after contact. It's a 9yr old video.
you pull the scapula back, yes it is a bone, loading the scapula is the process of pulling it back and down. Its like saying load the hips, the hips are bones but it is the process of creating proper tension in the "load"
They absolutely swing like this… I dont know this dude but he is teaching what the vast majority of modern hitting coaches teach. You HAVE to get the barrel in the zone early or you have NO chance with modern pitching at the higher levels of play. I’m 41 and I was a helluva player in my day but I’ll admit it… if you took me in my prime and placed me in this modern era… I wouldn’t see the field… because I learned to hit by pulling the knob and using the inside out swing. That doesn’t work today because timing has to be perfect. If you get the barrel in the zone early then there’s room for error… which you need facing dudes throwing 102 with stupid movement.
Great Tony Gwynn said, swing the knob and don't worry about the barrel.
