I just figured it out today hitting off the tee and I’m 35yrs my son 10u coach always says that so I tried it with my swing and it didn’t work sequence had better results I have a smooth lefty swing natural .I felt my hands tied up and rolling over with the knob to ball they teach.
This is a great topic of discussion.The knob to the ball has sort of a double meaning..For someone who isn’t aware of how you should apply this cue,it could easily turn into a long swing with extension before contact.Almost like throwing your hands at the ballot..When someone says swing the knob,as Tony Gwynn stated,it’s more in line to keeping your hands inside of the ball almost running them across the inside line of the batters box and then the barrel will follow.Tony Gwynn kept it pretty simple by stating” Swing the knob and the barrel will follow”..I totally agree and respect this gentleman as a great hitting instructor that throwing the know at the ball can be dangerous for anyone for that matter.Seining the know and to keep the hands inside the ball without any leaks is a more productive way to teach..

Absolutely agree. I've hated that term for years. You briefly POINT the knob at the ball, as you showed. You don't TAKE the knob to the ball.

Just have to be careful with “knob to the ball” players have to understand sequence and realize the hands are the last link in the chain to fire.
Knob to the ball is the worst advice to a young hitter ever. In reality the knob goes around with the swing. Great video!
