But nowadays with how many generations we've had, you can really just replace the names of each region and their real world counterparts Kanto and Jhoto: Japan Hoen and Sinnoh: ??? Unova and Alola: North America (USA specifically) Kalos: France Galar: UK We really could use a region based on Africa and Australia honestly.
Hoenn and Sinnoh are still Japan. In fact, unlike Kanto and Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh are each based on entire islands, so if you study any map of Japan you can actually spot the real-world versions of Hoenn and Sinnoh (although Hoenn is rotated 90° from its real-world counterpart.)
