With another day in Brazil coming to a close, I decided to head out to explore the street food scene in Rio de Janeiro after dark! Join me as I try some incredible Brazilian street food in Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil!

My night began at the rooftop cabanas of my hotel, the Yoo2 Rio de Janeiro by Intercity, one of the top hotels in Rio! My friends Guilherme and Rafa from Rio4Fun and Rio4Food and I decided to head out on an impromptu street food adventure!
We called an Uber and rode to the Copacabana Beach area. Our Uber driver didn’t like my soccer jersey! The area is open 24 hours and it’s very lively. The neighborhood never sleeps!
Our first street food was sambiquira (a chicken butt kebab) sold by a fun and friendly vendor. He also sold delicious-smelling sausage and garlic bread, which he grilled. The chicken butt had cassava flour on top.
I added some chili sauce on top, which was fire. I loved the crumbly outside. It reminded me of a chicken thigh. It contained some small bones but was really tender and tasty. The kebabs cost us less than $1.50 each!
Next, we a vendor selling pasta with rice, beans, sausage, bacon, cucumbers, cassava flour, onions, kale, and lettuce, so we bought some as well! The pasta, flour, and beans were all fused together and so delicious! It was a nice mix of textures and was so fresh!
Then, I tried the grilled garlic bread, which was crispy on the outside and creamy inside! It contained mayo and garlic!
After an hour, we drove to the next spot. Our Uber driver had recently lost 22 kilos, so him driving us to more street food wasn’t helping his weight loss!
At the next spot, I had some traditional Salinas cachaça with a roast beef sandwich with cheese and pineapple! It contained a mountain of smoky roast beef and a real tropical flair. I added some mole picante to add some spice. The sweet and salty mixture was the best!
Next was more cachaça and then some beef kidneys! They also have beef brains. The kidneys with butter and cilantro were super exotic, earthy, and gamy. They’re chewy but full of amazing flavor. It was the most exotic dish I’d had in Brazil! Adding the mole picante to the kidneys was unreal!
Then, we headed next door back to Galeto Sat’s, where we went earlier in the day. They offer over 300 different cachaças as well as beef, chicken, sausage, and bread. Their Bem me Que cachaça was sweet, and then we got some chicken hearts with garlic sauce on top.
The sauce was oily but wasn’t too garlicky. We added some cassava flour on top. They were really unique and delicious. Like most of the foods I’d tried in Brazil, it was a nice twist on a dish I love!

My Airbnb (Dec 2019) was across from the bbq guy’s stall and when I told him I recognize him from another food vlogger’s video on RUclips (Guilherme was also the guide in that vlog and took the host there), the couple gave me a free meal. 😅 😍 I can literally smell his food from my apartment’s balcony!!
I stayed for a week and whenever the bbq guy saw me walking out of my building or back from the beach, he said “Ola” or shouted “Filipinas!”. So glad to see him still grilling

C'mon, Rio doesn't have a street food scene like Asia. Dude's probably the only street vendor in Copacabana. Look around there's no one else beside him and I've visited Rio 3 times. David, you'd better judge the women and the beaches which are far more impressive than their food culture.
@@worldwanderer5155 I was never in Rio, but ALL around Brazil there is a lot of street vendors. You just have to know where to look. There are spots determined by the munucipality goverment where they can sell stuff.

So your "no one else beside him" is debunked by quickly seeing 4 vendors beside him. "Only street vendor in Copabacana", lol you are crazy. Also, imagine saying Rio doesn't have a food culture. Boy oh boy, for someone who calls themselves world wanderer you got some wanderin' to do.

David... this is one of the things I miss demais about Copacabana... é os kabobs na rua (the meat sticks on the streets)... I can tell you that when I am in Rio, I can just eat the kabobs from the streeet vendors and never set foot inside a restaurant for days, this really stretches your money.... good show

@@MarkDershowitz Nope, the sandwich shop is called Cervantes (Nothing reeally special). Galeto Sat's (Brazilian grilled chicken) is much better in my opinion. They've been around for decades and their food is amazing! The Brazilian grilled chicken BBQ style. They're right next each other...
