You can’t visit Brazil without indulging in some authentic Brazilian barbecue! It’s some of the best meat you’ll eat on the planet and is worth the hype in every way. Come along with me as I visit a South Brazilian steakhouse and enjoy everything from entrecote to pork to chicken in Porto Alegre, Brazil!
My afternoon began at Komka, an a la carte Brazilian steakhouse that has been in business since 1967. It focuses on serving quality meats from the state of Rio Grande do Sur!

My friends Guilherme and Rafa from Rio4Fun and Rio4Food introduced me to Deco, the owner. He used to be a professional basketball player!
Inside are a big dining hall and two areas-an old area and a new area. In the kitchen, I saw them cooking chicken, chicken hearts, and tons of cuts of meat. Everything smelled so good!
At your table, you order whatever you want and they’ll cook it in the kitchen and then serve it to you at the window. They serve premium cuts of meat seasoned with high-quality rock salt.
The owner served me some Heilige Pale Ale, a craft beer from Santa Cruz do Sol, a town in the state. They also have lots of other beers and wines. It was light, crisp, and a little cloudy. It tasted like a sessionable IPA.
I sat on the older side of the restaurant, which has high ceiling and blue-and-yellow walls.
We ordered skewers with sausage, chicken, beef, tomatoes, and onions; parmesan-crusted chicken wrapped with bacon; entrecôte (ribs filet); polenta; Greek salad; and fried yucca.
First, I tried some of Guilherme’s sparkling water, and then we jumped onto our entrecôte, which was super high quality and very fresh. I added a bit of chimichurri, which was really good!
I don’t usually love chimichurri, but this one enhanced the flavor of the meat instead of masking it. I could taste the Italian influence in the sausages and the polenta.
The parmesan-crusted chicken wrapped with bacon was juicy and a little salty. The cheese was a little crispy. It is served with a soft, creamy potato salad with bacon. It’s so good and is light on the mayo. The sausage with the potato salad was so flavorful!
Our fried polenta sticks were crispy on the outside but light and airy in the middle. I tried it with a sweet sauce, which was like a cross between jam and honey.
The pork was also great, but my favorite thing was the baby chicken wrapped with bacon and crusted with parmesan cheese and bacon was my favorite!
Next was the yuca frita. It was great with the sweet sauce, and with the parmesan cheese and olive oil drizzled on top. The smoky sausage with the sweet sauce was also excellent! I was in awe of how diverse Brazilian food is.
I met a customer who gave me some grief about my soccer jersey-it’s of one of the local teams, but not the local favorite! Everyone there was so friendly, from the owner to the staff to the guests. Deco was so hospitable and welcoming!
I also enjoyed a nice Hielije porter, which was my favorite porter of this trip! The owner insisted I try it! It was nice and chocolatey, and ice cold!
Then, we had sagu de vinho for dessert. It contains tapioca pearls, vanilla, eggs, sugar, and red wine. It’s a traditional Rio Grande do Sul dessert. It looked like a grape pudding with cream on top! I could taste the wine in it and I loved how creamy and cold it was!
I ended with several types of cachaca. I loved the honey one! What an epic experience!

É que europeu é acostumado com turistas. Para eles um turista é só mais um no meio de 10.000 outros. Já em porto-alegre os estabelecimentos devem receber 1 turistas europeu/americano por dia no máximo

@@siddharthvinze1276 no its not the same. Holland is a part of the Netherlands. It's often confused to be the same thing but actually it's not. Holland is the name for Two of the 12 provinces that together make up the Netherlands.
14:30 that's one of the things I miss the most about the south, especially RS. Not only they have an amazing food and service, but people tend to be are way more polite and open.
Seeing those videos, we realize that Brazil is amazing. So many cultures, food amazing, people very kind.
We should travel more all over Brazil to realize that feeling. Very proud to be brazilian.

Food is a huge passion of mine, and because I want to eat whatever I want, I run every morning, and then I do weights a few times a week. It’s just how I can balance eating pancakes in the morning, a big burger for lunch, and then a fat steak and cheesecake at night. Love from Korea🇰🇷💕

You will only gain in the future if you exercise with a well-planned diet. Unfortunately, it is the destiny of every human being to sacrifice his love of food a little. Hello David, I'm from Santa Cruz do Sul, glad you liked the Heilige beer. The correct pronunciation of Heilige sounds something like "Hi - lee - gui" and it means "saint" or "sacred". Have a nice trip!
Only to complement the pronunciation tip, it’s better to say like “Hi_lee_ghe”. English speakers will probably pronounce “gui” as we pronounce “güi” in Portuguese.

This is Carnevor Heaven. Do they have beef heart at those places? I love beef heart, as well as liver. And is the beef there in Brazil mostly grass or grain fed? I would love to wash down that great meat with a good red wine.
In the state of RS the majority of beef is free-range grass fed, I don't think I ever saw a rancher who grain fed them over there. It's full of the best Bradford/Hereford and Angus crossbreeds that you can imagine, they have the best pastures in the world along with Uruguay and parts of Argentina, the weather is also perfect for raising these big boys. It's by far one of the best beef experiences in the whole planet. Needless to say, there's a huge bbq tradition in the state that goes as far as the 1800's and every house/apartment has an inbuilt grill.
Now, when it comes to the rest of Brazil, don't expect any of this. I was born in Porto Alegre and when I went to the north for the first time I was surprised by how crap the meat was. Pasture and weather are shit, so not only they grain fed the poor boys but raise them in a pretty mediocre way to say the least, this directly affects the quality of the beef. And that's not the only problem, forget about the breeds that i've talked about earlier, expect 90% of the beef to be plain Nelore, smelly and hard as a rock.

All u can eat churrascarias, such as, Barbacoa, Rodeo, Figueira Rubayat, Varanda Griil, that would blow your socks off, they even serve Wagyu !
