Living in the east coast makes it challenging to find good winter fragrances. Wanna sure try this asI like the cashmere accord a lot. Somehow reminds me of my childhood visiting my grandmas house in the country with her cheap furniture. We didnt have a lot but she had a lot of love to give.
I have worn vintage Houbigants forever and a day. They are fantastic for vintage lovers. I have not smelled their latest releases. I love cardamom and woods. Fave wood is Raghba Wood Intense. I like your list of notes in print. That always makes me happy. I'm in Ohio.
I love Bois Mystique. I had a decant. It is very herbal on my skin in the best possible way. It has a wood shaving scent to it that remind same of woodshop. It does harkens back to something older, but does not smell dated. My current favorite woody is a gourmand, Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanilla. It plays well on my skins--not to sweet. Great review. Houbigant is one of those houses that I've heard a lot about but haven't been given a chance to smell yet. I know I can order a sample, but there are so many choices locally that I rarely order samples unless a scent really catches my attention. I really love the bottle designs of Houbigant though. They probably have caught my eye more than any specific fragrance. Anyway, this one sounds like a real winner. I know they are more know for women's fragrances so I'm sure their mens perfumes are probably more unique than most. Great vid as always! Arizona :))

Excellent review. I'm a big fan of Fougere Royale, and will definitely be looking more into this one. I love the Cardamom as a dominant opening note. As much as I didn't want it to be, my favorite woody fragrance is probably Tom Ford's Oud Wood.

I like and love the notes of ginger, neroli, guaiacwood, incense, myrrh, bergamot and Amber! I have yet to try Houbigant. Mysterious/mystical woods sound cool. The guaiacwood from the original Armani Code back in the day was awesome woods fragrance! I feel like it's no longer the same with the reformulations. I hope it's something great like that. Thanks for the great review. I sampled Fougere Royale but its too pink-rosy for my taste. Can't wait to sample Bois Mystique and compare to my submission for my fav woody fragrance, Histoire de Parfums 1828 Jules Verne, which has great, dry-woody freshness on the dry-down but below-average projection, longevity on my skin. Cardamom, ginger to woodiness with incense and cinnamon sounds too groovy.
from this new release of Houbigant i liked about the name sounds really good in the ears when you just saying the name Bois Mystique, very Mystique, my favorite woody fragrance is Sycomore by Chanel, from this review i enjoyed the way you explain it well, and this bottle is really classy with a zigzagy style in the front of the bottle, Escondido California here.

Moderate to subtle spicy woods are definitely my favourite day-wear fragrances (favourtie is still Creed's Spice and Wood) and this one falls right in line. The touch of iris, amber and ginger make it exceptionally intriguing since it sounds like they add a touch of sexiness that you might expect from something a little more evening appropriate (IMO). Btw, love the change of scenery Sebastian. The lighting gives it a nice cozy feel. All the best in the New Year! NC.

Houbigant is a house I've had on my radar for a minute, this one sounds heavenly. Cologne Intense as well, though I read some negative reviews on fragrantica. I would love to add this to my collection. My favorite woody fragrance would have to be Oud & Bergamot or Oud Wood. I'm located in Tucson, Arizona.

Great review! I like the way you describe the life of the fragrance, how it transforms from the opening to the base. The note breakdown is interesting to me (the base sounds really nice) and I haven’t tried anything from the house. At the moment, my favorite woody fragrance is - either BR540 extrait (sweet/woody so I give it a pass) or Reflection Man. State is WA.

What I liked about the sound of the fragrance is that the cardamom and ginger notes make me think of Declaration. Though the other notes sound really different (except for the cedar). My favorite woody scent, hard to say. Declaration, Declaration Essence, and Encre Noire are up there though. This was recommended to me in the store as “Bois du Portugal” alternative. I do not think that they smell similar, but still bought Bois Mystique for its perfect blend of notes that gives it a light but slightly mysterious touch.
To me Bois Mystique is similar to Creed Royal Oud. Not identical but they far more similar together in comparison to Bois Du Portugal. Compare them if you can! :)
Awesome review! I have had fougere royal on my must sample list for awhile now and I tried cologne intense when I was in Vegas and it was really nice. This sounds really nice I love a good spicy classy fragrance. My favorite woody fragrance is probably the original egoist by Chanel spicy creamy sandalwood heaven! I am in NY, NY. The notes here are right up my alley: especially fond of cardamom, incense and cinnamon. Woods always soothe. I liked the way you profiled the classy gentleman for whom this fragrance is a match! I fantasize shocking everyone by dressing up in a jacket and tie one day, and wearing this fragrance. I think it's extremely interesting how we associate aromas and status...my go-to for when I wanna feel that way is Jacomo for Men. Of course I have heard of this house both fro you and from fragrant forums but have never sampled anything from Houbigant. Can I also just say SEXY bottle?!?! Thanks!
LOVE woody frags. Probably one of my favorites genres. This one sounds epically superb. The only relapse I’m familiar with from the house is Fougere. Top notch review as usual , and up until now i never knew Houbigant and Perris Monte Carlo are now working under the same umbrella.Good to know .As far as i can remember Houbigant was gone for good for a long period of time , and revived a few years back.I know Fougere Royale , but nothing else.They do not smell the same,but Fougere Royale gives me the same vibe like Antidote by Viktor&Rolf . Classic fragrance with modern touches - bergamot , cardamom and ginger , and cinnamon and woody notes in the base.Sounds great.My favorite woody fragrance? A hard one to answer... I haven't seen the other videos on this house so this is my first time hearing of them. I don't currently own any woody fragrances, but have sampled a couple. Oud Wood is perhaps my favorite thus far. Something that I can wear to the office as well as for an evening out sounds like a win! I live in Chicago, IL.

This season I have Tom ford oud wood, Nasomatto Black Afgano, Serge Lutens Chergui, & Maison Francis Kurkdjian Grand Soir all in heavy rotation. I picked up a decant of Fougere Royal after you talked about it so much. I actually really like it, very easy to wear and smells great. I like woody fragrances, but haven't really found one I love yet. Almost forgot, New Mexico is my state :-)
Just ordered it for 97 euros ( i live in France); most sites sell it now 135 euros so i didn't hesitated. It's a blind buy, but i guess i won't be disapointed. I can't wait to try it ^^

This sounds amazing and by numbers Woody Aromatic is the most popular genre in my collection. The idea of a classy & classic Woody scent makes my perfumed heart beat a little faster. Got a decant of F Royale in 2011 and promptly used it all up and, for some reason, never replaced it. ahh Finally !!! Just got it ^^ opens very zingy ( a few seconds of disapointment since i have a feeling of a déjà vu). But that feeling rapidly fades to a very charming promenade in the woods. Feels good to sniff my hand again and again. The smell turns into a comforting dad wich pats your shoulder, like he would give advices to a clueless son. Citrussy but not too much, woody but not too much, marshmallowy, resinous in the dry down. I love it. Nice job Mr Maffei ^^'
Holy smokes, first of all, that's a stunning bottle. I noticed that much as soon as you held the sucker up right at the beginning of the video. In regards to the notes, I had to google Davana, and from what I found, the internet says the scent of it varies from person to person, but what does Davana smell like to you Sebastian (assuming that you know of a fragrance with enough Davana to identify it)? I know you say in this review that it lends a green note to it, but I'm just curious if there's any other identifying markers of davana. I ADORE woody scents, as I've said in several of my past comments, and cardamon and ginger at the top would be lovely as well! My favorite woody fragrance that I have smelled is Encre Noire, which I know is a vetiver dominant fragrance, but I would still class it as a woody fragrance. In terms of the review, you always make everything sound not only delightful to wear, but downright delicious! I promise if I win the giveaway, I will resist drinking the stuff though. :p Thanks for the review and giveaway, I'm from Michigan.

Excellent review. I'm a big fan of Fougere Royale, and will definitely be looking more into this one. I love the Cardamom as a dominant opening note. As much as I didn't want it to be, my favorite woody fragrance is probably Tom Ford's Oud Wood.

I like and love the notes of ginger, neroli, guaiacwood, incense, myrrh, bergamot and Amber! I have yet to try Houbigant. Mysterious/mystical woods sound cool. The guaiacwood from the original Armani Code back in the day was awesome woods fragrance! I feel like it's no longer the same with the reformulations. I hope it's something great like that. Also, Seb, I think it's cool that you're not afraid of filming away from home.

That bottle is gorgeous. I like that this is a woody fragrance on the lighter side, perfect to wear to work. One of my favorite woody scents is Tam Dao. I am in Massachusetts

Thanks for the great review. I sampled Fougere Royale but its too pink-rosy for my taste. Can't wait to sample Bois Mystique and compare to my submission for my fav woody fragrance, Histoire de Parfums 1828 Jules Verne, which has great, dry-woody freshness on the dry-down but below-average projection, longevity on my skin. Cardamom, ginger to woodiness with incense and cinnamon sounds too groovy.

from this new release of Houbigant i liked about the name sounds really good in the ears when you just saying the name Bois Mystique, very Mystique, my favorite woody fragrance is Sycomore by Chanel, from this review i enjoyed the way you explain it well, and this bottle is really classy with a zigzagy style in the front of the bottle, Escondido California here.

I have been on the fence about adding a first bottle of Houbigant in my collection due to my doubt if they are leaning on the dated side. Moderate to subtle spicy woods are definitely my favourite day-wear fragrances (favourtie is still Creed's Spice and Wood) and this one falls right in line. The touch of iris, amber and ginger make it exceptionally intriguing since it sounds like they add a touch of sexiness that you might expect from something a little more evening appropriate (IMO). Btw, love the change of scenery Sebastian. The lighting gives it a nice cozy feel. All the best in the New Year! NC.

Houbigant is a house I've had on my radar for a minute, this one sounds heavenly. Cologne Intense as well, though I read some negative reviews on fragrantica. I would love to add this to my collection. My favorite woody fragrance would have to be Oud & Bergamot or Oud Wood. I'm located in Tucson, Arizona.

Great review! I like the way you describe the life of the fragrance, how it transforms from the opening to the base. The note breakdown is interesting to me (the base sounds really nice) and I haven’t tried anything from the house. At the moment, my favorite woody fragrance is - either BR540 extrait (sweet/woody so I give it a pass) or Reflection Man. State is WA.
I like that you described this as a clean, classy woody fragrance. It really sounds nice. And I think both a man and a woman can pull of this scent. My favorite woody fragrance is Bond No. 9 I Love NY For Marriage Equality. I live in Pennsylvania.
What I liked about the sound of the fragrance is that the cardamom and ginger notes make me think of Declaration. Though the other notes sound really different (except for the cedar). My favorite woody scent, hard to say. Declaration, Declaration Essence, and Encre Noire are up there though. The review was pretty in depth, and exposed me to something which sounds like itd appeal to me, and I might not have paid attention to it otherwise.

This was recommended to me in the store as “Bois du Portugal” alternative. I do not think that they smell similar, but still bought Bois Mystique for its perfect blend of notes that gives it a light but slightly mysterious touch.
To me Bois Mystique is similar to Creed Royal Oud. Not identical but they far more similar together in comparison to Bois Du Portugal. Compare them if you can! :)

I am in NY, NY. The notes here are right up my alley: especially fond of cardamom, incense and cinnamon. Woods always soothe. I liked the way you profiled the classy gentleman for whom this fragrance is a match! I fantasize shocking everyone by dressing up in a jacket and tie one day, and wearing this fragrance. I think it's extremely interesting how we associate aromas and status...my go-to for when I wanna feel that way is Jacomo for Men. Of course I have heard of this house both fro you and from fragrant forums but have never sampled anything from Houbigant. Can I also just say SEXY bottle?!?! Thanks!

LOVE woody frags. Probably one of my favorites genres. This one sounds epically superb. The only relapse I’m familiar with from the house is Fougere. Top notch review as usual , and up until now i never knew Houbigant and Perris Monte Carlo are now working under the same umbrella.Good to know .As far as i can remember Houbigant was gone for good for a long period of time , and revived a few years back.I know Fougere Royale , but nothing else.They do not smell the same,but Fougere Royale gives me the same vibe like Antidote by Viktor&Rolf .

I haven't seen the other videos on this house so this is my first time hearing of them. I don't currently own any woody fragrances, but have sampled a couple. Oud Wood is perhaps my favorite thus far. Something that I can wear to the office as well as for an evening out sounds like a win!

This season I have Tom ford oud wood, Nasomatto Black Afgano, Serge Lutens Chergui, & Maison Francis Kurkdjian Grand Soir all in heavy rotation. I live in South Carolina so I have to drive to Atlanta for niche fragrances.

This sounds great. I always enjoy your videos, more so when you really like a scent. I can usually by the look on your face when you're reviewing them. I picked up a decant of Fougere Royal after you talked about it so much. I actually really like it, very easy to wear and smells great. I like woody fragrances, but haven't really found one I love yet.

This sounds amazing and by numbers Woody Aromatic is the most popular genre in my collection. The idea of a classy & classic Woody scent makes my perfumed heart beat a little faster.
Got a decant of F Royale in 2011 and promptly used it all up and, for some reason, never replaced it. Hmmm you know a good discounter or French perfume mule? lol

ahh Finally !!! Just got it ^^ opens very zingy ( a few seconds of disapointment since i have a feeling of a déjà vu). But that feeling rapidly fades to a very charming promenade in the woods. Feels good to sniff my hand again and again. The smell turns into a comforting dad wich pats your shoulder, like he would give advices to a clueless son. Citrussy but not too much, woody but not too much, marshmallowy, resinous in the dry down. I love it. Nice job Mr Maffei ^^'
Holy smokes, first of all, that's a stunning bottle. I noticed that much as soon as you held the sucker up right at the beginning of the video. In regards to the notes, I had to google Davana, and from what I found, the internet says the scent of it varies from person to person, but what does Davana smell like to you Sebastian (assuming that you know of a fragrance with enough Davana to identify it)? I know you say in this review that it lends a green note to it, but I'm just curious if there's any other identifying markers of davana. I ADORE woody scents, as I've said in several of my past comments, and cardamon and ginger at the top would be lovely as well! My favorite woody fragrance that I have smelled is Encre Noire, which I know is a vetiver dominant fragrance, but I would still class it as a woody fragrance. In terms of the review, you always make everything sound not only delightful to wear, but downright delicious! I promise if I win the giveaway, I will resist drinking the stuff though. :p Thanks for the review and giveaway, I'm from Michigan.
This one sounds interesting. I like Creed spice & Wood and would love to win this bottle. I have Fougere Royale and get compliments. The fact a quality house that doesn't flood the market with offerings suggests to me the concept of quality vs quantity. Sebastian: When you call it "sexy" that is good enough for me. My husband loves fougere royale as I bought it for him. Favorite woody fragrance is Sunny Side Up JHAG. Very curious to try this as it sounds unisex. If not I can give it to my husband as he loves this brand. Oregon state here.
