Been through a “rough patch” the past few years...divorced...had to sell the house...crappy job. The thing that’s kept me sane through it all has been learning to cook by watching RUclips videos. Cooking gives me something where I can feel in control, can feel connected to my mom who passed away, and end up with something nice to eat at the end of it.
I’m still struggling, and still learning, but Daddy Jack’s videos have been the best, and most helpful to me. Learning recipes from him I learned that cooking, and maybe other things, aren’t as much about precise measurements, and formulae, but about going with what feels right while guided by a general approach. It’s also because his channel feels less about just cooking, and more about community, and belonging in some way.
Anyhow, thanks for helping to pull me through some bad times.

I so love that Jack is a Kent Rollins supporter as they share so many of the same wonderful traits. He understands that the restaurant/food business transcends simple dollars and sense. It's about sharing and community. Simply put... Jack gets it.

@@cossack814 yes, jack passed away about a month ago. Like you, Jack was an inspiration to me. Forget that he was an amazing cook. He was a kind, caring, loving soul. I never met him but I am devastated by his loss. You tube will never be the same.
He came by my mind today. I was thinking I hadn’t seen him in awhile. He will truly be missed. RIP. Fly High.

I wish RUclipsr chefs would start cross promoting each other. Daddy Jacks vs. Sam The Cooking Guy. Daddy Jacks vs. The Burger Scholar. I make yours, you make mine challenges.
Agree. There is one guy I've just discovered. A little different. But really good. I wish chefs would help each other out. I know that Jack and Kent Rollins have boosted each other. Also, Jack gave a plug to Bruno Albouze.
It's strange, I've noticed other genres of RUclips do that a lot, especially video games and fitness, but food channels seem to act like the other channels will steal their viewers. I doubt Daddy Jack thinks that way, but I have definitely noticed that on other food channels. The falling out between Guga and Ninja on sous vide everything immediately comes to mind.
Came here to say congrats! Love the videos and have used a few of your techniques at home, such as olive oil and butter for pan frying, and how you keep flavor building though out a recipe. Thank you for you informative and drool inducing videos! I must go before I get too hungry! Peace!
