This fucking needed to be a 2 parter. It is definitely an emotional episode. Especially with the 2nd song. Hell, i almost shed a tear toward the end of the true, true friend song.
+The DS Guy I was confused as well - I just started watching MLP a few weeks ago and are catching up. It´s a show for little girls - yet they pull it off that Twilight becoming an Alicorn becomes a thing in twenty minutes. Many other shows have hard time doing such a change with longer episodes. My only issue with this episode is, that twilight didn´t do that much in this episode measured on what she has done before and just after it. But there is also hidden why MLP is such a good show: They do a brilliant job in forecasting. Twilight was worthy even before finishing the spell, not all Alicorns beeing god like was exemplified by Princess Cadance... they carefully put all the domino pieces into other episodes, so that it worked as single episode. (I still would have preferred two parter with a strong final test - but the beginning of season 4 more then made up for that)
I think Twilight becoming a princess was a good idea because it allowed them to explore more ideas and expand the MLP universe. We also get to see a new part of twilight’s personality that we never saw before.
I really liked your point about Twilight being the first character to earn being a princess. For me, that was one of the best things about this episode - royalty, power and honour are not simply given to a character based on her lineage, and we are not expected to admire the character as a princess simply because she is "pretty" or "charming", but because she has earned her position. The idea of characters like Twilight and Cadence earning their royal titles by demonstrating leadership means that royalty in this universe is, for the most part, a meritocracy: those in power have worked to get where they are. This really is a powerful message and an especially important one for children: that honour and respect should be earned, and that real leaders teach by example. I also think it's one that Lauren Faust was aiming for, since it defies the whole convention of princesses being passive figureheads (and Faust herself did have the idea of Twilight succeeding Celestia after her studies were done). TL;DR: I liked this episode, and I think alicorn Twilight was a solid story development.
Here, here. This kind of premise deserved to be expanded over more than just a 20-minute episode. This seems more like something you'd see in an hour-long special.
I think something that people tend to overlook is one important line. Twilight says "Their true selves have been altered." It's not that each of them gained their special talent their Cutie Mark dictates. It's that they believe that the pony whose Cutie Mark they got is who they are. This includes their duties, jobs, etc. The Cutie Mark is simply a representation of that change.
I legit nearly cried at this video. The wording in the end is just beautiful, and it's played over Celestia's Ballad, my favorite song period. Great, video, Mr. Enter.
Oh sure when there is fanart of twilight being an alicorn people are fine but when the show does it no it's the worst thing ever you see the problem with haters of this episode
@@dejaypage1575 I'm not a fan of human mane 6 fanart neither do i like equestria girls. But, I do like this epidode. I think this episode really divided the fandom. Half like the episode/ princess twilight half don't.
How can anybody hate this episode? It had a lot to offer, and we got to see things we love about the show. The only thing I was worried about was that Pinkamena returned
I did at least give a point for trying to make us feel proud for Twilight. But as for why I didn't do it in each of the songs, the entire point of Sleepless in Ponyville was building up to that moment, whereas the songs here were just an aspect.
All I can say is, Bronies, if your going to say that the series is dead just because Twilight is now a princess, either do one of two things. 1) Acept Twilight for who she is, rather then what she is. She is a princess, but her character is still in check, and after season 4, got better. 2) If your going to say that Twilight as well as the entire show is ruined forever because she's a princess, GET THE HELL OUT OF THE FANBASE!!!!!!
Anyone who is willing to give Twilight Sparkle's new princess status a fair chance, and realize that UNICORN Twilight and ALICORN Twilight are BOTH the SAME entity, say I!
This is the best review I have ever seen for this episode. Not once have I seen someone connect ever plot point to make me love this episode even more then I already do. And I agree, this episode deserves, not just a gold, but a platinum rating. It is just that emotional and powerful to it's audience.
Congratulations on being the community voted best MLP:FiM analysis video of 2013, the fact this video actually beat other renowned analysts' (e.g. DigiBrony, Tommy Oliver, AntonyC,...) videos in a testament to MrEnter's professionalism & analysis depth that, IMO, is one of, maybe even THE, best of them all. Now MrEnter probably won't reply back since this video is quite old & almost irrelevent, but I think not judging an episode for it's song is an oversight because the music is as much a part of it as every other criteria i.e. pacing, theming, characterization, humor, animation,... I understand MrEnter purposefully left them out of the review because as he said, music is subjective, but TBH, so is every other aforementioned episode criteria, i.e. some people may laugh at certain types of humor while others may get offended, certain character moments may also be considered OOC to some while being perfectly in character to others, and that's perfectly fine, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Also, songs aren't entirely subjective, we can judge music objectively based on its lyrics, beat, tempo, general feels, how good it fits to its episode, etc... Therefore I'd really like to know, if MrEnter did include the songs in episode review, is there any episode whose rating are altered, for better or for worse, significantly?
TheMysteriousMrEnter I have to say that this is a really good review, and I agree with just about every single point of it. Magical Mystery Cure is to this date my favorite episode of MLP, and that is despite the fact that I initially hated the idea of Twilight becoming a princess. But speaking about this episode, there is one thing that always struck me as kind of obvious, yet I never see people talk about it, and it sort of baffles me, because it makes the entire episode make so much more sense. Basically what I'm getting at is that when Twilight finished Starswirl's spell, she didn't just finish a spell - She managed (as is stated in the episode) to do something Starswirl could never do - Which I think is create new magic. If you think about it, it does make a lot of sense. Look at the other Alicorns, all of them have their unique kind of magic. Celestia as Princess of the Sun controls the sun, Luna as Princess of the Moon controls the Moon, and Cadance possesses the magic of love, and is, well, the princess of Love. What do they call Twilight? The Princess of Friendship. And on top of that, what makes her realize how to finish the spell, is helping her friends after being absolutely desperate, since she just cares about them that deeply. Is it a bit cliché? Yeah, but it does make sense. But, with all that, this episode actually makes a lot more sense to me. This connects with the theme of Twilight earning to be a princess, which you mentioned in the review, and it also makes most arguments about it being rushed or forced in or anything void to me. Twilight didn't become an Alicorn "just because", but rather because she did the defining thing to become an Alicorn - And alicorns simply happen to be the rulers because of their unique powers and abilities, which they earned. (Now of course I can only assume Celestia, Luna and Cadance earned their powers. We can't really know that as of now, unless S5 established anything about that. I have yet to see S5.) In fact, I think that Magical Mystery Cure would have been an amazing point to end the series. I understand that if you love something, you want more and more of it, but after seeing S4, I still think that it has been a bit of a letdown. Now, that doesn't mean that S4 is awful or by any means even bad, but it just felt like it got a bit more stale from there. In any case, I love Magical Mystery Cure deeply, the songs still make me tear up, and I really felt like you did it justice, so thank you. If you have any comments or things you'd like to point out in my argument, I'd of course be happy about a reply. Other than that, keep doing what you do. You're great at it.
Okay, this is getting out of hand. I simply got the result from this: tinyurl.com/o3q3vc6 If anyone disagrees, you're fully welcome to make your own video.
I'd absolutely love it if they just did an episode titled "life of celestia" or smthg and somehow through some technical wonder made the screen a mirror that just constantly showed the audience. Idc if its impossible, I want it xD
Just one detail I think you might enjoy. When Rainbow Dash clears the sky in this, how long do you think it takes her? Yup, you guessed it! Ten. Seconds. Flat. People actually timed it.
At first, I was one of those people who disliked Twilicorn. However, this is for reasons quite a bit different than why other people disliked the idea. I wasn't afraid of where the show would go, it proved that it can make the best out of any situation. I wasn't afraid that she would be a Mary Sue, we saw afterwards that Twilight is the same character. Blah blah blah, I didn't care about any of that stuff. What made me mad, was that I thought it was EXTREMELY unfair. The show held a bias towards Twilight ever since the beginning (since the element of magic was the strongest one because reasons), and I get that she is technically the main character, but that doesn't mean that the writers can just leave the other 5 in the dust. The other 5 have equally helped in the past to, you know, SAVE THE WORLD, and they get next to none recognition for their actions while "princess Twilight" gets all the attention because she's a royal. If I were a writer, I would have made the mane 6 a sort of royal group with Twilight as the leader, none an alicorn or princess, but they all become royalty (on a pretty low level though) and all get recognition for their heroic actions. However, season 5 was the season that made me like alicorn Twilight a lot more because of the map which let all of the mane 6 help others with friendship problems, even without Twilight.
Did anyone notice that the owl that was trying to cook Rainbow Dash was the same owl that she turned down in favor for the tortoise in "May the Best Pet Win"? Don't say it was a different owl, either, because the only owl she actually showed Rainbow Dash (Probably her only one) was the one that competed there, and Rainbow Dash is in Fluttershy's cottage.
I love how the very next episode that came out after you posted this review meant that you didn't earn a cookie, and then, four years later, it is twisted on top of that so we _do_ owe you a cookie now.
The reason for that was actually because we felt Hasbro would fall back onto the "princess-merchandise-is-popular" trend. In a way, they did… but also, Cadence? When did _she_ become an alicorn? Also, we don't even care about her in the long run.
I kinda liked the original idea for this episode where Twilight asked Celestia for help to change her friends back, but she was unable to and the reason Twilight ascended was because she did something even Celestia couldn't do. But this worked too
A few small points. First of all, concerning the whole alicorn terminology thing, I think we can forgive this show for that. After all in traditional myth, the species were just called winged horses, and only one horse in particular was called Pegasus, the one rode by Bellerophon when fighting the manticore (Who, by the way, is meant to have a human face, not a lion's face). This show plays kinda loosely with mythological creatures and terms, so I think we can forgive them using alicorn to describe the species. Besides, what would you rather have them called, pegacorns? Winged unicorns? Yeah, because those terms just roll right off the tongue don't they... Second, I'm kinda surprised you didn't comment on the whole bit of Twilight's, for lack of a better word, ascension. We have her being apparently killed, entering some strange spiritual plane (heaven? Akashic Records? The Source?) And then being resurected with new powers and a new role of leadership in the world. You kinda have to squint sideways at it, but you can easily read a messiah-metaphor in there a bit. And third, congrats. You've pretty much given one of the most in-depth and impressive analyses of this episode I've seen, covering every little tiny detail, use of symbolism, and plothole, so nicely done.
I really don't understand why you say some of the things you say in this video. You tell people not to take their opinions of songs into account when determining how good the episode is because songs are subjective? Well, so is someone's opinion of the episode as a whole. It's not like you're being objective when you say the episode is good. That's entirely subjective as well. By disregarding the songs, you're not making an objective analysis; you're making an incomplete opinion. And even apart from that, it makes no sense for you to refuse to take songs into account because they're subjective and then award points for jokes that you find funny. Both the quality of the songs and the quality of the jokes are completely subjective, so for you to treat them differently is, frankly, incredibly confusing. Secondly, it seems a little out of place for you to claim that the only way you could possibly dislike the episode (besides a hatred for musicals) was if you set yourself against it in the first place. That seems a bit arrogant, don't you think? Like with the first point, you seem to treat your opinion like it's an objective analysis. That simply isn't true. Third, you can't excuse the episodes failure to explain itself because Megan McCarthy compared it to the first of a three-parter (as you did at 12:16) and then start treating it like a finale that stands on its own (as you did at 13:12). If it stands on its own, it stands on its own. It does no good to go back and forth on whether you treat this as a finale or as the prelude to another two episodes (not to mention that saying it's part of a three-parter is incorrect in the first place; that was, admittedly, McCarthy's individual view, not a declaration of how the episode is meant to be watched). I generally enjoy your episode reviews, or, at least, I understand the logic behind the judgements you make. I can say neither for this one.
@8:02 Actually, the sad song 'I have to find a way' is more suitable, leaving you to wonder if Twilight could actually solve a life-changing problem SHE caused. If she didn't, the world would change as a result (the effect of the spell compounding from the Five into Ponyville itself and eventually Equestria as a whole). This particular scene of 'The Elements blast Twilight' feels like a midway point for the second episode of a two-parter, like how Chrysalis had basically won before Twilight freed Cadence in Canterlot Wedding. Why do people want to have this cliffhanger? It's a permanent change to be sure, but the distinct Cutie Mark Pattern never really got me as 'she's dead'. Maybe 'she's gone, but still alive SOMEWHERE' meaning teleportation, to a ridiculous level (Which actually did happen, ironically). It's really disheartening that people actually thought Twilight died here. Especially considering the spoiled reveal of Alicorn Twilight. I never thought that Twilight died here, and I never saw the Spoiled reveal until like a few days before the episode itself. I eventually came to the conclusion that no matter how much the fans hated this, the MLP writers would make it work, and they did, for the most part. My point: This isn't the best spot for the split, the melancholy song of 'can this be fixed, cause if not, it's worse than was Discord ever did' works because of just how badly Twilight messed up. Just 'saiyan'... Later, RDF2
OK. After seeing the latest episode, I've come to realize why so many people hate this one...IT WAS SPOILED!! If the network had kept their mouths shut like last week, things may have turned out better and we would have gone back and seen the foreshadowing.
Sadly, your explanation on the Cutie Mark thing makes the CMC episodes where they're trying to find the Cutie Mark a LOT more aggravating because pretty much EVERY single adult in the town is able to tell them that, and they would've gotten them it in the first CMC episode. Also, I can say that Spike wasn't affect since he lacks a Cutie Mark. How do you switch something if it was never there?
Shane Smith I have a question. WHAT DID TWILIGHT LEARN IN THIS EPISODE?!!!! that your friends can help you achieve great things, but she already new this. also this episode suffers from too many songs in such a short timespan. the fact that this episode was clearly a two episodes and was rushed so everything seems to fly by in a instant. the fact that this episode barely explains anything at all. not to mention the hypocritical message which is that you shouldn't have to do the jobs or roles that life just gives you but should find your special place in the world only that twilight was forced by celestia to become a princess. she didn't even ask twilight if she wanted this. honestly I give it a 5/10 it was average at best. and while it did have some really great moments it is hampered by all these problems.
I don't think becoming an Alicorn Princess made Twilight a Mary Sue character. Quite the contrary in fact. Becoming an Alicorn didn't make her this perfect, boring princess. She still makes mistakes.....but she realizes her mistakes and she grows from it. As in the movie when Tempest stripped away Twilight's comfort blanket of the other Princesses and Twilight had to come into her own as a Princess. She makes mistakes in that movie....really big mistakes.....like trying to steal Queen Novo's magical pearl and more importantly getting angry at her friends and forgetting her most important lesson from Princess Celestia .....but she LEARNS from her mistake and she comes into her own as the true Princess of Friendship. Also one of her greatest episodes in my opinion was when she faces Tirek after the other Princesses give her their magic. In this episode, she is once again alone, and faced with a terrible choice between her friends and the Alicorn magic....but she makes the right choice in the end and finds her power. Also, having this new power didn't make Twilight arrogant or There are definitely moments where Twilight doubts her ability but I do think she has come far as a character and a Princess.
You know, you kind of remind me of Twilight at least in this episode). You've really grown as a reviewer, and you've gone through a lot to get to where you are today. I want to sing Celestia's Ballad to you because-well--it's how I feel about you. You've made me proud of you; from day one until today, you've grown. You've open my eyes and made me a better person. Thanks for everything Mr. Enter, you certainly come a long, long way. :-)

The irony of those cutie marks is that they all still work perfectly for the canon characters, at least as much as Cheerilee's does. The gems of Applejack's labor are her farm's produce, butterflies fly constantly and do basically nothing else (see also a butterfly being the "tomboy sporty one" cutie mark in earlier gens), Pinkie's apples being baked into desserts. Fluttershy simply entertains animals instead of ponies, and Rarity's... it's a rainbow, it can easily mean colorful designs in fashion or mane color. All you'd need is to change around a few details, like Pinkie being apple-obsessed instead of the more generic sugar-obsessed (constant candied apples instead of constant totally-innocent cupcakes), and Rarity doing less gems and more unnecessary splashes of color.
You know, you weren't right or wrong with that whole "Starswirl created the elements of harmony" thing. He was involved in planting the seeds of harmony, with others of the past stories from season 7. Meaning, that you predicted something from this long ago that came true today. Congratulations MrEnter, you get a cookie, and a Simpsons award.
YES! FINALLY! THANK YOU! everyone fucking hates this episode and i could barely ever understand why. i was actually surprised when i heard--after the fact--that people hated this episode and were complaining about Twilight's new status. i watched it when it first aired, and during Celestia's song i was actually affected, and i almost started crying because i really was proud of her. i do think her becoming wings and a Princess was something she fully earned, which is interesting. it wasn't just thrown on her to spice up the show, or to try something randomly new or something. it's implied that this is what Celestia had been preparing her for this whole time. (not that the writers from the beginning could have seen this far ahead, but they sure are pretending Celestia did lmao.)
Oh glob, my head hurts from all the thinking. Congrats though on finally reviewing every episode! That's an impressive feat, can't wait to see more reviews when S4 comes. I'm gonna get Pinkie Pie to throw you a "Completed all the episodes" party.
M.A. Larson wanted this episode to be a 2-part series finale, and was initially told that it would be as such. Then the script was snatched out of his hands and we got this. Honestly, I'm glad the series continued.
11:30 Lauren Faust planned from the beginning for Twilight to succeed Celestia (also that Rainbow would become a Wonderbolt and Rarity would get her shop in Canterlot, which she has done as of now).
This is my favorite episode of the entire series so far because of the pure entertainment factor, raw emotion, continuity and the fact that it changed the entire scope of the show (yes, I actually like change). I was willing to just accept the flaws and call this my favorite episode for those kinds of reasons. You've just reinforced why this is my favorite episode by deconstructing the commonly perceived flaws and pointing out that they're hardly flaws at all. Nice job!
Actually, this is my second favorite episode. It's like Canterlot Wedding. It has flaws (Twilight being turned to a princess early, and some plotholes) But the charm and amazing feeling of the episode is way too great. but, to the commenters, to each their own. Also, every single song in this I love. ^^
I like your explanation of why Rarity has Rainbow Dash's cutie mark, as well as how everyone's past, like ACTUAL past changed, and how Twilight got her idea of how to fix things, those actually kind of makes sense, and I think they're explanations not a whole lot of people thought of! Also, why WOULD the spell affect Spike, he's not the bearer of and of the elements? Also, seeing Princess Twilight Sparkle really makes me wonder more about this spell and what it was meant to do. The fact that Meghan McCarthy considers this the first part in a three-parter, this episode followed by Princess Twilight Sparkle. With THAT in mind, I kind of EXPECTED to learn how Starswirl's spell connected to the elements... we don't. But that's a problem retrospectively, it was never that much of an issue when watching the episode for the first time. And gosh... Celestia's Ballad... It gives me chills and tears at the same time! You're responses to the alicorn issues range from "THANK you!" to "um, I don't really think that answered the question". Her flying into the camera, though, I hate that beyond all reason. Not only does it make no sense at all, but they show her struggling to fly in Equestria Girls and Princess Twilight Sparkle! It could have been EASY to cut, ESPECIALLY since Meghan McCarthy knew this was coming! It just frustrates me so much!
I had actualy dropped out of the fandom beacause the season 3...well, it was to experimental for me...then I decide to watch magical mystery cure. I fell inlove with this again. I am actualy an aspergere and I identefy myself with twillight almost as if she was me from another universe. to see her reach a new level and change made me so proud of her and gave me hope about myself. I don't really watch the episode fresh out now, but I watch the reviews, But I still love what they did with thw series... I just hope they won't screw this up. Also, Merry chrismas!!!
It always sort of bothered me about Rarity's cutie mark since her real special talent is finding gems, but now that he's explained it a little more, it does make a lot of sense that AJ would try to make dresses.
You know, looking back...this is one of the best episodes of the series...it handled such strong emotions very well and you really felt sorry for each of the cast...not one part of the songs were out of place and told the story in a musical form... as a musical should.
ok at 5:01 if what you said was true, that would mean they would be at least slightly good, they act like they've never done it, it was their memories and marks affected by the spell, not how they got them
Not true, in thier minds, they've been doing this, but that doesn't mean they are good at it. If I was a shy pony and my special talent was parties, id never be good at it.
So far, the only song that was like that was the Show Stoppers song, and that episode was plagued by other problems. I'm expecting that the songs are at least well-made; it's the standard that's been set over three seasons.
Honestly, a character becoming royalty or getting a leadership can be a good thing. Like you said, it was earned. I'm not really into MLP, but I like watching all your reviews, even older ones. Becoming big isn't the problem with characters; it's if they get that position without earning it. As long as they aren't flawless or undefeatable from it; it just shows character development and if someone works real hard, the results can be worthwhile. I LOVE when characters work their way up ranks. I plan to make a series tackling all these sorts of things.
Hey, I've been saying the exact same thing to a lot of people recently, it's true though, MMC was so well done and so much more worthy of being an MLP movie than EQG, for one thing it's actually cinematic, the songs for the most part hit film quality and the whole episode feels like a combination of an MLP movies songs with clips of the film at the beginning and end of each one, if they just had the time then the songs would of carried so much more weight and I think everyone would praise it.
16:04 i wouldn't actually mind if they do that, lately it seems like twilight has been at the center of attention while the others are just pushed into the background, or at leas not as important. i suppose it was okay before, because she was new and didn't know much about surroundings, so when she actually did lead, it was sort of refreshing, but now it seems like she's over powered, (yes, overpowered) but not in a physical or mental way, but rather an authoritative sort of way, now she really is a leader, and any charm she had left from the 1st season for being a minor outcast is officially gone
With me i can't easily deal with change especially if it's a loss of a family member like my mom who actually really loved mlp, she was a Pegasister. And its kinda hard to watch mlp without her.
Honestly, I don't get "Music is subjective". Literally all entertainment is subjective. That's pretty much the definition of subjective. I don't have a problem with you judging the story independent of the music, good or bad. That's a perfectly reasonable way to look at something. But good music can save a bad episode, and bad music can damn a good episode. If the creators decide to put music in an episode, then the episode should be judged for the appropriateness of the music, and it's quality. Personally, I loved this episode because the music saved it from it's pacing problem. As you said, music can convey the same feeling as written lines much more quickly. I suspect this was intended to be a two parter (an could have been a three parter with some difficulty I think the writers could have managed) because it's so dense. The decision to use music was paramount. Without it, this episode would be MUCH weaker. So I credit this episode on it's musical nature. And then, I credit the songs on their quality. Every song did what it was supposed to do, and did it very well. Take away the music from this episode, and you'll get something fundamentally different. And it's not like this isn't a show that doesn't regularly use music. If you didn't like the musical episode of Daria because of all the music, I understand. But music is a major part of FiM, even if it's not in every episode. Just as the show assumes you know about cutie marks, it also assume you're happy with more music (provided it's the same quality as it's been, of course).
This fucking needed to be a 2 parter. It is definitely an emotional episode. Especially with the 2nd song. Hell, i almost shed a tear toward the end of the true, true friend song.
Before I watched this, I thought it was a two parter.
+TheHTFAmv M.A. Larson daid it was originally going to be two parts

Miss Sparkle Pony why was it cut down
3:50 Well, four seasons later, and HOLY CRAP. Looks like you'll be getting a lot of cookies over the next few months.
I was about to say the same thing.
Me too, I'll start baking some cookies now
"People hate change because all too often does it turn out wrong and horrid."
The RUclips layout in a nutshell.
Actually, that applies more to the entirety of the changes made to RUclips.
Lol
Hiiiiiii Bramblestar
TL;DR: I liked this episode, and I think alicorn Twilight was a solid story development.
my only issue with this episode is that it was VERY rushed
Saaaaaame
the fact that they were able to do this in a short amount of time is impressive them
i can't believe people are watching mr enter's content to this day....
Avizanski he's wise
Thank you. Seriously the fans make humanized versions of the characters and they go insane when they do it? Love the hypocrisy (rolls eyes)
@@dejaypage1575 I'm not a fan of human mane 6 fanart neither do i like equestria girls. But, I do like this epidode. I think this episode really divided the fandom. Half like the episode/ princess twilight half don't.
UmbreonTwinkle I drew EQG Twilight... are you gonna kill me? (I put it up on my devart profile)
How can anybody hate this episode? It had a lot to offer, and we got to see things we love about the show. The only thing I was worried about was that Pinkamena returned
Because they can't accept show changes

Harmony Jacinto I couldn't agree with you more
I did at least give a point for trying to make us feel proud for Twilight.

MrGabeanator Why did people find Alicorn Twilight offensive in the first pace?
Well I do like every single song in the episode, so...
I have yet to see S5.)
In fact, I think that Magical Mystery Cure would have been an amazing point to end the series.

“Star swirl could have created the elements for all we know”
Season 7: yup
So basically. Celestia IS the audience? Explains why we aren't getting an episode focused on her :p
Dominiola A Royal Problem completely debunks that now.
So damn satisfying.
WINNER OF THE BEST OF BRONY ANALYSIS OF 2013
Where was the voting done?
Brony Dev did a list. also for the record the Daring Don't review got #3 as well.
yeah
...I came into this video expecting utter hate for it, considering your critique style...Really reminds me why I subbed to you man.
They remember...
GMD CruzD Uh....hi again.
Unrelated but omg I love you for using Five for Fighting as an example, my favorite music artist ever
I love how the very next episode that came out after you posted this review meant that you didn't earn a cookie, and then, four years later, it is twisted on top of that so we _do_ owe you a cookie now.
Had it not been for Pinkie Pride, this would be my favorite episode of Friendship is Magic.
I don't get why the fans got so pissy about it being a musical when there have been songs in the show since season 1?
I love how the overwhelming response to "Is there a book about being a princess I should read!?" was "And we were all afraid that she'd change!"
This episode was gonna be the series finale. And only got 13 episode because of the equestria girls movie
@8:02
Actually, the sad song 'I have to find a way' is more suitable, leaving you to wonder if Twilight could actually solve a life-changing problem SHE caused.
Just 'saiyan'...

... Well, shit, we owe you a chocolate chip cookie.
How do you switch something if it was never there?
this episode is near perfection. the change in the shows dynamic is probably the major reason this episode is so panned. top 5, easily.
By the way, we owe you a chocolate chip cookie for predicting that Starswirl created the Elements.
Honestly, I really like the songs in this episode :)
true true friend is one of my favorite mlp songs :)
Aradia Megido except whoever is chopping onions during Celestia's song... sniff, (wipes tears). It's onions, really.
Aradia Megido its my favorite mlp song

*claps*
Love this review.
Hell, I LOVE this episode, too.
3:57 holy crap how did you predict that
lol what i thought
YES! FINALLY! THANK YOU! everyone fucking hates this episode and i could barely ever understand why.
i was actually surprised when i heard--after the fact--that people hated this episode and were complaining about Twilight's new status. i watched it when it first aired, and during Celestia's song i was actually affected, and i almost started crying because i really was proud of her.
i do think her becoming wings and a Princess was something she fully earned, which is interesting. it wasn't just thrown on her to spice up the show, or to try something randomly new or something. it's implied that this is what Celestia had been preparing her for this whole time. (not that the writers from the beginning could have seen this far ahead, but they sure are pretending Celestia did lmao.)
Because some brownies are petty assholes who can't understand how meaningful change can be
Oh glob, my head hurts from all the thinking. Congrats though on finally reviewing every episode! That's an impressive feat, can't wait to see more reviews when S4 comes. I'm gonna get Pinkie Pie to throw you a "Completed all the episodes" party.
I believe we owe you a cookie, Mister.
This is the most in-depth and well thought out review of MMC I've ever seen. After watching this I've gained a new respect for you as a reviewer.
OMG Starswirl was responsible for the elements. you get cookie now.
M.A. Larson wanted this episode to be a 2-part series finale, and was initially told that it would be as such. Then the script was snatched out of his hands and we got this.
Honestly, I'm glad the series continued.
Welp, Mr. Enter was somewhat correct. Star swirl and the pillars created the elements. I guess we owe him a cookie.
11:30 Lauren Faust planned from the beginning for Twilight to succeed Celestia (also that Rainbow would become a Wonderbolt and Rarity would get her shop in Canterlot, which she has done as of now).
+jmeowcoverage She also specified, however, that no, her idea did not involve Twilight becoming an alicorn.
I love this episode. (Yes, the songs DO have to do with that a little) But I did feel proud of Twilight. As we were kind of supposed to.
This episode is up there with, “See me, Feel me, Gnomey” possibly even worse!

What's the name of the guy/girl doing your subtitles? I think I'll call him/her Exit since you're Mr. Enter.
It's not songs themselves that people don't like. It's that there are too many songs.
3:57- DAMN IT! I better find a cookie.
Well, goddamn it, you get a cookie.
I kind of love it how he misses the obvious Beatles reference in the title
This is my favorite episode of the entire series so far because of the pure entertainment factor, raw emotion, continuity and the fact that it changed the entire scope of the show (yes, I actually like change). I was willing to just accept the flaws and call this my favorite episode for those kinds of reasons. You've just reinforced why this is my favorite episode by deconstructing the commonly perceived flaws and pointing out that they're hardly flaws at all. Nice job!
Actually, this is my second favorite episode. It's like Canterlot Wedding. It has flaws
(Twilight being turned to a princess early, and some plotholes) But the charm and amazing feeling of the episode is way too great. but, to the commenters, to each their own.
True true friend is the best song in this episode.
Looks like we all owe you cookies now.
Well, I'm in the mood to fight someone until he calls me a troll for defending something I like. SEASON 3 KICKS ASS!
Out of all the songs in this episode Celestia's is my favourite and I even did a parody of it which I put into a fan fic I made
I was tearing up through this whole episode. The emotion was *perfect*.
Oh you get a cookie by the way since you were in fact right about starswirl making the elements thus this makes even more sense now.
It always sort of bothered me about Rarity's cutie mark since her real special talent is finding gems, but now that he's explained it a little more, it does make a lot of sense that AJ would try to make dresses.
*_chucks chocolate chip cookie at_*
What’s funny is that way before this episode he kept saying that Twilight would get wings
You know, looking back...this is one of the best episodes of the series...it handled such strong emotions very well and you really felt sorry for each of the cast...not one part of the songs were out of place and told the story in a musical form... as a musical should.
Well spike has no cutie mark, so a spell that shuffles everyone's cutie marks and memories wouldn't affect him.
"music is subjective" and so are television shows. I watch for your opinion, Mr. Enter. I'm certainly not here for this show.
I felt a tear welling up in my eye during Celestia's Ballad
ok at 5:01 if what you said was true, that would mean they would be at least slightly good, they act like they've never done it, it was their memories and marks affected by the spell, not how they got them
Not true, in thier minds, they've been doing this, but that doesn't mean they are good at it. If I was a shy pony and my special talent was parties, id never be good at it.
This is one of my favorite reviews from you, then when i was scrolling down, i noticed that you uploaded it on my birthday
TheMysteriousMrEnter i kinda got in some trouble with hewylewis and kinda accidentally forced myself to review the little engine that could. any tips?
3:55 Welp you definitely deserve alot of chocolate chips cookies
So far, the only song that was like that was the Show Stoppers song, and that episode was plagued by other problems. I'm expecting that the songs are at least well-made; it's the standard that's been set over three seasons.
It's a very good idea to buy a microphone. It eliminates background static. They can be bought for around 15 dollars. You don't need anything fancy.

We get to find out where the elements come from... in *Shadow Play* . Just go watch it, it'll explain.

I wonder how Season 4 will end? I think it'll be pretty hard to top this one.
Does Mr. Enter know We all owe him cookies
Si did Star swirl create the elements or something
The twilight zone I laughed my ass of
