As a junior engineer I served on the Overseas adventurer. 1974 I think, 7 cylinder Man engine. Very reliable engine, Had to be sure the scavenge spaces were kept clear of oily residue. We had Indian crew and they did an excellent job. Mention to the fitters who were top guys. Loved the video brought back so many memories.
Deine Machine dein Schiff. Ruhe in Frieden alter Kapitän
😢😢😢😢😢😢
What a beautiful old lady... lovingly maintained and operated, thanks for posting this!
I want to mount that in a banshee.
That engine room is cleaner than my kitchen. And it makes a beautiful noice too!
This ship actually looks like a real ship. Not a seagoing box.
As beautiful as this is, it makes me sad as a steamhead that these are considered "old" and that getting to see someone control a diesel engine is the new "steam" age
My father was 2nd engineer British merchant navy he worked on steam engines and turbines and diesels in the 1960’s lost him to covid. Miss you dad where ever you are .
Man methanol 2 stroke!
A lot are running on gas now natural gas etc
Die Cap San Diego ist schon ein tolles Schiff. Interessant auch mal die Technik zu sehen. Schon sehr beeindruckend. Daumen hoch für die klasse Aufnahmen! Gruss inselvideo!
I love your video i subscribe your channel @sandeepminz4667
Schöner Schnitt, pretty good cut, well done.
That's great absolutely love seeing things like this maintained and run love it!!
Germany bombed to bits during WW2 and still they produce massive engines, amazing people
Uh, America rebuilt Germany. Gratis.
She is shouting: bring me back to Brazil with cargo in my belly!
Everything sounds so melodious...
Gorgeous! Outstanding machine!
Durfte an Christi Himmelfahrt drei Tage in Hamburg verbringen.
Greetings to beautiful Vienna .
Hoffentlich verbieten es die Grünen nicht
Thanks for this. I was a first trip engineer cadet in 1973 and recall seeing these "Cap" boats as we called them in ports on the east coast of South America - Recife, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aries and Montevideo. Good looking ships. I sailed as Junior Engineer on the 1960 built M.V.Amalric and she had a 9 cylinder MAN main engine with 4 naturally aspirated MAN generators.
Thanks - I love seeing more of this ship and its engineering! Hope to visit in person some summer.
Your video very nice i subscribe your channel @sandeepminz4667
Beautiful ship and immaculate engine room and spaces,, Should be very proud.
Is it something similar to 'pocket battleships' main diesels?
Absolute Klasse. Note 1 mit Stern
Vielen Dank!
What a beautiful ship
So beautiful 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
You can't beat a MAN diesel for durability.
Beautiful ship but that is not a "Giant" marine diesel engine. FYI, the first step the operator made on the starting wheel was the starting air. The next movement was for the fuel
Ha. The engine is so big you cant see it all at once
Classic MAN sounds just …nostalgic ….
Beautiful ships. Remember following one of them out of Hamburg on a CP Ship in the 70s. Glad they saved one at least.
Thinking about this I believe she was the Cap Trafalgar and I was on Port Quebec.
It's done from a control room now..
All automated and computerized.
Seems strange that you get to see the engine of a big ship and when it's running all you see is a tiny handle turning round. The working of a Grandfather clock would have more umphffff 😄
Tolles Schiff, die Cap San Diego. Danke
Ein traum❤
that propeller shaft woud be 2 arm thick hydraulic hoses or 1inch or less electric cable for the same poweroutput. i still love these all mechanical engines.
Having sailed aboard a ship much like this, also German built, as a junior deck officer in my long ago "ute," this brings back memories of my rare forays into the netherworld of the engine room. Very cool, or should l say hot?
Been there, done that. Seriously cool. And a very beautiful ship.
The old MAN KSZ, spent 23 months of my life on these engines, MAN 8 KSZ 70/150 C/CL and MAN 6 KSZ 70/150 C/CL. Old concept/design slow speed engines, with a lot of problems, telescopic water cooling pipes for pistons with IHI compressors, high presure cross head lubrication with an articulated pump, cyl heads with and inner and outer shell, and injectors without a removable seat. In othe words if the injector seat in the head was buggered that's it, change it. Insufficient air as you can see in the beggining of the video caused clouds of smoke or the infamous faulty pneumatic which will leave shut the auxiliary blower intake to the T/C. Sulzer were much much better and easier to work with.
I suppose when you are young you don't feel like giving up despite 36 hrs in the engine room changing a liner and then arrival manoeuvring.
At the end of the day you go to sea to "do things".
No hearing protection?
This is a music to the ear.. listening to it while trying to get asleep...🌛
Now even more special since Hamburg Sud does not exist anymore. She is a beautiful ship. I worked for this company 19,5 years.
That sounds like a Union Pacific diesel train sounds awesome with diesel power blowing black smoke 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
MAN made a, which stands for Machine family Alshverg Nuremberg!
I'd expect I spelt it wrong? If someone wants to correct me, feel free?
Machine Factory Augsburg Nürnberg. Augsburg and Nürnberg are two towns in the south of Germany.
This is very old engine room.
I got to go down into the engine room on one of the largest super tankers of that time in the 70s. The engine was five cylinders. One piston had a bore of 3 yards. the water jackets were like three feet across. there were guys inside scraping barnacles off.
Captains state room was gigantic like a luxury townhouse. you couldn't see the bow from the steering room. The captain said it was almost 3 football fields. the kicker was, 2 people ran the entire thing underway. it was all computers. Captian couldn't get the smile off his face.
Fantastic
Fantástico!!
@@harleyhawk79593 yards?
@@harleyhawk7959I was an apprentice on tankers in the 70s and you are talking bollocks. The large tankers had steam plant. There are no barnacles inside a ship. How the fuck are you going to steer a ship if you can’t see the bow from the ‘steering room’? (I assume you mean bridge), I could go on.
This video just made my day. Can't wait for the next one!
Schnellstart eines Dieselmotors nach 73 Handgriffen
awesome bet the dude starting it must earn big $
Incredible the diesel engine. Complicate engine, a lot of job (maneuvres) to start the engine.
Fake Titel, hier gibts kein 8K.....
I served on this ship between Buenos Aires and Hamburg, was onl6 16 and under then German law any Germen ship must take me back to my home land , free of charge…I had a good time , the ship electrician “Lorenz” told me a lot…
Beautiful
This one looks like 1974 model. MAN has got about 3% of market share.
I travelled this canal in December. The icebreakers were traveling up and down to keep the navigation open.
BRD produzierte MAN?
sounds like a maintenance nightmare......you should have been nice to those Germans
Imagine if that engine had an runaway with those massive twin turbochargers.
I used to work on this ship in 1972😊 On deck, not in the noisy engine room.😮
If it looks good, it will work good.
Wo bekomme ich so´n Motor her?
Yes old engine room, yet fun to watch, to understand.
Beautiful ship! Thank you for sharing!
mhhhh Lecker ich liebe die Cap Sandiego. 2006 war ich sogar auf ihr im Hafen.
Wieso 9 zylinder?
Well, THAT is a beautiful chip!
Excellent 👌
Das ist Technik die begeistert
What a beautiful old craft. Love ir
Junk.
"8k...". Yeah, right.... 😆 😆 😆
Yes, recorded in 8k with the Canon R5 and uploaded in 8k.
OMG... what says Greta 😮 😅
A work of art in motion 👍😎
Fantástico navio, fantástico motor!
B e a u t I f u l vessel😍
So silent this engine
what are the two brackets on the port side for?
This is an museum ship, most time of the year it is fixed at its pier by these brackets.
Like a Walz.😎👌
Danke!
Spotless….
1:28 waltz
Love it
Beautiful
Mooi schip.
Precioso barco.
Was für Maschinen 😅 Klasse

💪👍
So impressive what mann engines creates. Best most expensive in world.
Einfach schön
Danke!
Schönes Boot.
Geriatric’s dreaming…..silly old git’s 😂
