Sally is actually not that good; Brickset put their review up a moment ago and it's a lot worse than the CMF version from five years ago. The new one has less detailed arms, no dual-molded legs, recycled hair piece, poor printing on the legs.
I love this set. While a Lego moon is more traditional, the use of cardboard is a fantastic touch because of the shadows it creates which is more realistic to the movie…I would have also loved Oogie to be included even if he was a “ shadow on the moon at night” character on the cardboard version
This isn’t a bad set for the price. But as a full representation of Nightmare Before Christmas, it feels very cramped, very little interior, the hill feels smaller then it should be. No Oogie Boogie as well. I would have loved if this got more of a budget to be a more full build but I do appreciate the restraint in price.
They should/could have left out lock, shock, barrel and santa to reduce the price (or add other figures present in the movie), then make another standalone set of oogie-boogie's lair including oogie boogie, lock, shock, barrel and santa for oogie boogie's amazing song.
This was an awesome set to come out of the LEGO Ideas program. My girlfriend is a huge fan, and she built the Hocus Pocus one last year. She’s also super excited about the upcoming LEGO Ideas Twilight set, so will be looking forward to your review on that one as well!!

@@GeneCreemers still doesn’t make it right. This set at most should be $150. The Zelda set should be around the price of the Ornithopter, but I’m blaming Nintendo for that one.
Nice! 😺💙🐾 Looking forward to this as a day 1 purchase, even without Oogie Boogie. Love the spiral hill and moon, even if it’s just card stock. It really is captivating! Cheers 🍻
I agree but this whole set will look even better on display for October - December. That's why nightmare before Christmas is the penultimate Halloween set because its also a Christmas set!
I like this, but I dont think I'll buy it because I mostly only like it for that iconic spiral hill diorama and the Jack/Sally/Zero figs. If they sold the 3 pieces individually, I'd definitely buy the hill. What Mightve convinced me to buy the whole thing is if they included Oogie Boogie's layer and Oogie Boogie himself as a fourth section
The moon is made of plastic, definitely not cardstock. The stuff under the roofs of the building are for decorating the town. That might come obvious tome people, not for others
I love this set as fan of Nightmare Before Christmas but a part of me would have preferred a nice diorama of the spiral hill, maybe a bit bigger. I know that this is a Lego ideas project but still it feels weird having 3 separate buildings.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the set. But I think jacks Sleigh and riendeer with the ramp would’ve made it better even if it would’ve been like 40 bucks more. Just my opinion though.
i’ve been seeing a lot of non lego fans online see this it’s so funny seeing how horrendous the price is to them vs people in the hobby that think it’s a decent price
Nah, while $200 is not awful, it is still too much for this; again, we can't just keep on looking at the price per part ratio and judge the value based on the part count alone. I will not count the licensing as Lego has had the Nightmare licence for years. And on the surface and at a glance, it's hard to imagine this set has so many pieces since so many of them are tiny or hidden away; it's overall a relatively small build for the cost. It's easy to say this is worth it and you recommend this when you're not the one who's paying a hefty $200 for this. This might sound unreasonable but I'm going to go there as there's a lot of unreasonably overpriced sets lately, I would knock 20% to 25% off this as I don't feel there's enough here justify it costing $200. I'm not a minifig obsessed guy, but the figures, while all new with Zero being specialised, are a let down; Zero, Jack and Santa are the clear highlights, but the rest are very bland and Sally is a severe downgrade from the CMF version which came out FIVE years ago! The new one has less detailed arms, no dual-molded legs, a recycled hair piece from Dumbledore but recoloured (the CMF version had a unique one), and very poor printing on the legs. It's not the end of the world but remember, this is a $200 set; such downgrades and issues like that are unacceptable in a set that costs so much.
overall, a very great set. just a couple issues keeping it from being a 10/10. 1) leave out the mayor, include oogie boogie OR the 3 piece band. THEN make a separate set 40/60 dollars ish with the mayor and his car. 2) the presents should be halloween colored, not xmas. thats basically it...otherwise it is very cool. if they made the hill able to unravel that would've put it over the top too
oh and anyone that would argue the moon needs to be made out of bricks is insane. it would add nothing. it would look worse, imo. it would be heavier. it would be a boring repetitive build, and add nothing but extra cost
I agree but the problem is Lego Disney and Tim burtons company only agreed on the set line up of Minifig but I agree the band and oogie boogie would have been nice
