The sign at Link's House litterly just says Link's House in the game, also that is a really insane price but it's nice that they made brand new molds for it.
$300 is far too much for this. There's nowhere near enough content to justify that price, with a lot of parts that get left behind due to the 2-in1 aspect. So it needs at least a huge 33% discount to be even worthwhile. Which is what I'm banking on, since Mighty Bowser got absolutely decimated a few months after release when it was 45% off in the UK at Amazon at one point. That's assuming this Deku Tree is as widely available as Mighty Bowser is, as we don't know if it's exclusive to just one other store. And saying the Lord of the Rings set is better, I mean duh, how much more does that set cost? Of course that's going to be better when it's a couple hundred dollars more!
You are spot on with your analysis and I do hope this will also be heavily discounted as a makeup deal for Zelda fans. I think 200 is also pushing it a little, especially since there is no cheap alternative out that people can also buy. I don't mind Lego pushing out some impossibly expensive sets once in a while, but they do need to offer something for the smaller budget fans, especially for children, young adults or parents that are on a tight budget. I find it hard to compare it to Barad Dûr, which I think is also heavily overpriced and underdeveloped, but compared to a good set that is about the same size, the Medieval Town Square, this is a very bad deal. About 1700+ pieces less, half the minifigures and far less detail in the build. And even Medieval Town Square was pushing it in terms of offering barely enough value for it's 260 dollar price, lacking animals, detail on some of the roofs and possible too few minifigures as well.
on the lego website it is listed as its own theme. so we can expect future sets. i believe it will be similar to lord of the rings, one adult set a year.
You mean they are also choosing the wrong way to support this theme? The biggest issue with Lord of the Rings is not just that the theme is crazy expensive, there is also barely any sets. Where are the 10-20 dollar builds? Where are the mid-size 50 dollar playsets? There are two choices: You can pay 500 for Rivendell or 460 for Barad Dûr. If you want only some of the minifigures or even just one of them .. tough luck.
@@957kakashi I hope so. They have done so in the past and I believe it was highly succesful at the time, it was during my dark ages though. To keep a positive frame of mind I'm certainly open to the idea of them releasing more sets in every pricerange. In case of Lord of the Rings, I'd be highly interested in it. In fact, if they did that, I'd be finally tempted into buying the Rivendell set as well. It might need saving up for quite some time, but I will get it if there is more LotR to collect.
In an earlier preview video made by another youtuber I also thought the build cost 200 dollars and I remember myself first thinking: That is a lot of money for that plastic tree and a few figs. Then I tought the price was 300 NZD (New Zealand dollars), which makes it relatively high, but I guess a more reasonable price, considering this is a major franchise and an IP based set from Nintendo (300 NZD is about 180 US dollars) But yea, this is 300 oil backed, overprinted united states of america dollars, which means it will be the same price in Euros, which means we europeans will have to pay about 30 dollars more for the same, massively overpriced set. It gets even more ridiculous if you actually look into the different currencies and exchange rates.
The names, my dude. Ocarina, especially, has two different accepted pronunciations, but you didn't use either one. I normally wouldn't care, but because of how often you say the words it just got more notable over time. I understand that you maybe didn't play the games yourself, but it might've been worth watching a youtube video or something about the games to get an idea of how to say the names. I'd recommend that in the future when reviewing sets about a property you're not familiar with. Hopefully there will be more Lego Zelda sets in the future and you'll have'em down by then.
Thank you for your review! I was gifted this set recently and I'm glad I watched your video as a heads-up on what to expect. Even if it wasn't bought for me, as a huge Zelda fan, I would have purchased it anyway. I will be building the Breath of the Wild version and can't wait to display it!
I don't think most people are going to be confused by the extra pieces... It's clearly a 2 in 1 set... The extra pieces going to the other build seems obvious
My brother in Christ, if you're going to do an in-depth review about a franchise you aren't familiar with, you should really consider spend a few extra minutes researching pronunciations because this was absolutely brutal to sit through. Not a bad review but will definitely turn away Zelda fans 😂😭🙏🏻
Cost is high but thats what happens when you get all those amazing figures, prints and accessories! We can't expect to get all of that for pennies. Instructions aside, the execution of the set itself is great too! Beautiful and interesting with a lot of detail. It has it all. I think we have to just settle on the fact a set like this to be "expensive".
Eh for the price we should have gotten a OOt Zelda and shiek or a ganon figure The deku trees are honestly pretty boring and monotone chunky looking builds. Would have highly preferred they committed to one game and gave use a better parts usage main build and better side figures
I ended up finding this because I was trying to figure out what to do with all the extra pieces I had haha. Thank you so much for recommending bag 22. I definitely would have missed out on building some great stuff without this video.
You're dreaming if you think that's true. I agree it's overpriced but even $150 would be half the original price. Which I think is a more reasonable amount
Breath Of The Wild variant looks more complete and wonderful, with more details and part usage and you can still display Ocarina Of Time themed build (Link’s House) and minifigures to the side or part of a custom build/ diorama. Very expensive set but as mentioned, there are a lot of exclusive moulds, prints, etc… no stickers but yeah expensive! Really great review, your so lucky to get this set from LEGO.

300 is outrageous max 150, but people will buy it and Lego and Nintendo will see that as a win and other future Nintendo sets will be just as expensive
@@brendenrodgers7821 If they can't make a set like this cost less than 200 dollars, they are seriously doing something wrong in their manufacturing, design and/or IP management. It is corporate greed from Lego and Nintendo both, which explains why this set is overpriced to about double what you'd expect.
Why am I watching a review from someone who doesn't care about the source material at all? I think the Lego ambassador program is a good thing, but reviewers should really have to get to know the sets before rushing to meet some embargo.
Why you are watching it is something that probably only you might know. However, I believe he made the review because he got sent the set anyway and it is a pretty well known theme that might attract a lot of views.
@@pinobluevogel6458 Right, there's for sure an incentive to review sets even if you're not an expert on the source material but I don't think reviewers are that strained when it comes to the time they have with each set. Idk, it's just a matter of respecting the audiences time. Like the B-roll is nice but I get no real insight or new perspective from this.
@@OlleMoquist Hmm, I don't think I find many things in your post that I can agree with, except the part where it helps to have reviewers be familiar with the source material and that the footage of the review is well done. I'm not one to assume how much time these content creators have to make reviews, but I guess it is far less than you imply. Apart from having to assemble the set and doing the actual recording, there is even more time that goes into editing. For a set that is not exactly a passion project, I agree it could be a waste of time for them, or at the very least less fun, but it still is work that might pay them from getting the views for it. Often having these very tight windows at which to release them, makes for a very stressful workload that can negatively affect the creator, but also the quality of the review. Simply put, they have to rush these out not to miss the window where people will watch them. The views for these things drop dramatically after a set is out and they basically have very bad longevity compared to other content. That said, respecting the audience time is something that is a matter of choice. You are in no way forced to watch any of this content and you certainly have only very minor say in how he does his videos, even though I understand you would want it differently. I watched it, because I was interested in what he had to say about the Deku Tree and wanted to take a detailed look. Both of those things I got from the video so I'm happy. But if you want a more in-depth look from a Zelda fan, you'd be better off trying to watch someone else for this set.
@@pinobluevogel6458 You make fair points. Uploading frequently is definitely work but I don't come to the same conclusions as you. I could have worded my comments in a more constructive way but as you said, I doubt it has any impact on these videos.

this hurts. the price-per-piece ratio is somehow actually worse than advertised with it being a 2-in-1 set (imagine buying it just for the oot build.) i really wanted a loz set, but not like this :(

I gotta ask, is the master sword made of that softer plastic where the handle instantly gets worn down and torn up from putting it in/taking it out of minifigs' hands?
Loved the review! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I have one critique: I felt you used the word “controversy” far too often to discuss anything you disliked. I’m very glad you mentioned everything you felt missed the mark, but calling them “controversies” makes them sound like catastrophic, divisive issues within the community when this is not necessarily the case. I only bring it up because there’s no need to create an issue where there isn’t one
Why can’t you just go though the building instructions backwards until you hit that part? Other than the larger price and extra parts I actually see little negative about the 2 in 1 part of the set.
I was hoping to be able to build the OOT one but with the pedestal from Botw since it's close enough as a singular display piece and I'm happy that you can do that. with some tweaking it could be a good recreation of the pedestal from Link to the Past in the Lost Woods where the Master Sword first appeared. that Hookshot is an awesome little build that can be easily modified for the longshot or converted to a clawshot, so that's really neat. Regarding the model itself...I'm torn on this one. obviously it suffers the 3-1 problem of having a 'prime' build and a part variant, and even though the part variant is pretty impressive, it does leave someone like me who wanted the OOT version for nostalgia's sake to feel a bit left out of the experience. the size does feel a bit unjustified for the price, and there's for sure a licensing tax on top of the 2-in-1 bloat. I imagine there could be a chance to make some tweaks to modularize the version unless there's specific teardowns from that base model. Also funny you use Rivendell as that was my goal was to display the OOT Deku Tree next to Rivendell. I'd still like to get this, but it may need to wait on a sale first.
I haven't played Zelda since it came out on NES, so I don't have a strong connection to this set, but it looks awesome. And, (probably because I'm not buying it) the price doesn't really bother me...

I grew up on PC games, they were so much more detailed and challenging (at least the online multiplayer). Then again, I would also love to own those minifigures. They certainly look nice, but they most certainly will be worth hundreds of dollars in a few years.
If this is how good a tree looks in LEGO Zelda, imagine Hyrule Castle. We have the potential for the best theme ever here and I really hope LEGO siezes this oppourtunity and makes entire waves of sets with many accesible prices.
I totally agree with this review. Whilst the set(s) look amazing, the price tag is as hideous as the build is beautiful. The only way I'm getting it on release is if they make a highly exclusive GWP, similar to the Fell-Beast that came with Barad-dur, and even then, that price tag is going to make me question. If they don't do a GWP or the like, I'm simply going to wait until a price-drop/special offer and aim for the DnD CMF figs for the moment.

Too expensive but still great
on the lego website it is listed as its own theme. so we can expect future sets. i believe it will be similar to lord of the rings, one adult set a year.
If you want only some of the minifigures or even just one of them .. tough luck.
Lord of the rings isn’t going to just be 1 adult set a year. There’s gonna be more, and with any good planning Zelda will have more as well.
I do love the Orc Arena. They have the most brutal gladiator spectacles you’ll ever witness.
such a well detailed set, wish I could afford it
Oh wow a 200$ set... Is what I thought when i first saw this.
In an earlier preview video made by another youtuber I also thought the build cost 200 dollars and I remember myself first thinking: That is a lot of money for that plastic tree and a few figs.
Then I tought the price was 300 NZD (New Zealand dollars), which makes it relatively high, but I guess a more reasonable price, considering this is a major franchise and an IP based set from Nintendo (300 NZD is about 180 US dollars)
But yea, this is 300 oil backed, overprinted united states of america dollars, which means it will be the same price in Euros, which means we europeans will have to pay about 30 dollars more for the same, massively overpriced set.
It gets even more ridiculous if you actually look into the different currencies and exchange rates.
@@pinobluevogel6458 damn I've never realized , I thought the price won't change as much in other countries, the more you know.
Great video! Thanks for explaining everything about this set so perfectly! You answered all my questions!
Would have highly preferred they committed to one game and gave use a better parts usage main build and better side figures
the sign just says" links house"
"It's a secret to everybody."
Or something around the lines
Finally reviews! So excited for the Orcarina of time Deeku tree 🙃🥲
It’s so hard on the wallet to be both a Lego and a Zelda fan.
It’s even worse when you’re a Lego, Zelda and lord of the rings fan…
@@brendenrodgers7821 Ouch.
@@brendenrodgers7821 I'm all of those... ._.
Now we know why alot of lego sets were coming out with stickers recently, the printing departament eas busy printing all the zelda stuff
I ended up finding this because I was trying to figure out what to do with all the extra pieces I had haha. Thank you so much for recommending bag 22. I definitely would have missed out on building some great stuff without this video.
wtf that looks like 89$ set
price is biggedt joke
You're dreaming if you think that's true. I agree it's overpriced but even $150 would be half the original price. Which I think is a more reasonable amount
you folks who complain about prices sure do love over exaggerating huh
You haven’t purchased a Lego Set since you were 9 if you believe that.
Lego has established itself as a premium toy co. And so $300 is a fair price.
Why is it that gamers and Lego kids think everything they want should be cheap?
might have to buy 2 of these at some point and have both trees built !
Quick question, roughly how long did it take you to build the “Ocarina of Time” tree?
Thanks in advance
“Orkereenuh” killed me
Breath Of The Wild variant looks more complete and wonderful, with more details and part usage and you can still display Ocarina Of Time themed build (Link’s House) and minifigures to the side or part of a custom build/ diorama.
Very expensive set but as mentioned, there are a lot of exclusive moulds, prints, etc… no stickers but yeah expensive!
Really great review, your so lucky to get this set from LEGO.
The ”musical instrument” is the ocarina! Orcarina is not a name
That price is legit just a scam
Nintendo really love there fans can't just put the cost on lego
$299 is outrageous for that set.
This looks EPIC fun build set 👍
Great and balanced review, thank you! I am actually looking to buy either this or Rivendell so I really appreciate the comparison!
I want to get it got the Master Sword alone! Thanks for the great review. Definitely goin to buy it and you answered a lot of questions I had. The hook shot being in it was such a cool thing to do.
What is like to see next is a shrine set to a good scale
Maybe Hyrule castle at scale. It would only cost about 4 trillion dollars.
300 is outrageous max 150, but people will buy it and Lego and Nintendo will see that as a win and other future Nintendo sets will be just as expensive
I disagree, no stickers, ip licensing, RnD all that stuff adds up quickly
@@brendenrodgers7821 If they can't make a set like this cost less than 200 dollars, they are seriously doing something wrong in their manufacturing, design and/or IP management. It is corporate greed from Lego and Nintendo both, which explains why this set is overpriced to about double what you'd expect.
@@brendenrodgers7821 ive seen bigger sets cost less, its just greed, the world you want is wrong
@@OlleMoquist It might not, but it is always good to voice your opinion if you do it in a respectful way, which I think you did.
Brick fanatics has a recent review out from a very invested Zelda fan. While I couldn't say it is an unbiased review, it is fun to see him geek out over all the details. Maybe that would be a review you'd enjoy, if you want a more dedicated fan's vision.
Thanks for taking the time to respond and I wish you all the best!
Definitely doing the reverse, making the Breath of the Wild first to have the Ocarina of Time variant for display for maximum nostalgia. Love that they included the ocarina!
Are you gonna pay 300 for this? Please tell me.
@@El_Fabricio I don't know yet if it will be a LEGO store exclusive. If not, I would wait until it gets sub 250 probably. If it is exclusive, I'll probably use vip points to get the feeling of buying it under 250 😂
Wouldn’t have been my first choice, but wanted to support Zelda Lego sets. Hoping to get something in the future that is more similar to the ? Block set for Mario 64. I like the diorama look of that one way better.
I wouldnt even pay 200$ for this, 150$ would be the price i would consider buying
I don't ever complain about price because "A" buying it is a choice and no one is going to die if they don't get a Lego Set, "B" I'm not poor and I make good money, it's not my fault I can easily afford things other people think are expensive because they refuse to do the work it takes to make more money.
ORCarina is insane dawg you might need a dialect coach
Well done review! Thanks!
Every time you said “deeku” and “OR-ca-rina” I flinched a little….
3 bags are left sealed when building the BotW version, and all printed tiles from the OoT version are in one bag, so I just opened this one and added a view OoT details to my Deku Tree
The master sword looks so good
Some new molds and IP to pay for. Honestly the best bet would be to release a SmashBros minifigure series. It would have sold incredibly fast and recouped much of the cost for new molds. Then you put something like this out for around $200 and it would fly off the shelves.
I’m a diehard Zelda fan but I just can’t pay that kind of price and say it’s worth it. Sorry Lego
Please do a review on the bdp series 3 forestman hideout!
This video just convince me to pre order thanks for sharing. I don’t care for extra parts better for me as a collector.
“ORKarina” 😂😂😂 I’m dying 💀
Ah yes Tolkien's princess of the Orcs, "Orcarina". 😂
this hurts. the price-per-piece ratio is somehow actually worse than advertised with it being a 2-in-1 set (imagine buying it just for the oot build.) i really wanted a loz set, but not like this :(
Thanks for an excellent and honest review of this set. I love the set but I'm slightly torn on it after seeing the execution.
Hope we get a ganondorf figure soon
Yea hopefully with the long legs/arms
My plan is to buy two so I can have both trees at the same time. I don't think it will be a big deal if I have a lot of extra pieces. As for the price, I would prefer not to spend so many dollars, but as I am an adult with my own job and making my own money, I think I can treat myself to such a set when September comes.
Awesome set. Happy that Lego finally gave in and started to sell Zelda sets.
But I'll be waiting for the hylian Castle set to be released before buying one.
I'm sure at some point they will do the master sword in princess Zelda dragon from Tears the kingdom set
Hopefully Lego does a full lineup of sets not just a single UCS styled one.
I gotta ask, is the master sword made of that softer plastic where the handle instantly gets worn down and torn up from putting it in/taking it out of minifigs' hands?
This really could have been two separate sets
Crazy set, I dont see this flying of the shelves..
I think it will, not that it deserves to. The branding will sell it despite the price.
Looking at the comment section it does not seem very popular or hyped
Loved the review! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I have one critique: I felt you used the word “controversy” far too often to discuss anything you disliked. I’m very glad you mentioned everything you felt missed the mark, but calling them “controversies” makes them sound like catastrophic, divisive issues within the community when this is not necessarily the case. I only bring it up because there’s no need to create an issue where there isn’t one
On lego's website here in Denmark its 346 dollars....
Great, but the license price kills it for me.
“Here it is, the Great Deeeeeeku Tree”
Best set of this year!!!🎉
Came just for the avalanche of comments noting the SUPER AWKWARD pronunciation of so many different Zelda elements. Shows how much he knows about the Zelda universe...
Worse, he is doing it on purpose so it gets more comments. I mean he got you to comment and raise his engagement.
@@AgentOrange88785I don't think he did it on purpose. Rather he simply doesn't know the Zelda universe but attempted to pass off as someone more familiar with the game series.
Even as someone who has never even even played a Nintendo game, I would 100% like to own the minifigures.
What is wrong with you? Never played a nintendo game?
@@JelloBud Same here, I never played any Zelda game and probably only a few games of Smash Brothers at a friends house when I was younger.
We have the potential for the best theme ever here and I really hope LEGO siezes this oppourtunity and makes entire waves of sets with many accesible prices.
having a millennium falcon that you can modify to be film-specific makes sense because you only need to change a couple of pieces. this however...
I love the effort they put into the set but having that many excess spare pieces is a barrier to sales
I'm glad that I pre-ordered this. Your review confirms that it's a love letter to zelda.
If you were unsure if Lego is price gauging target customers, here is your proof.
There no GWP we wpould have seen it by now .
@@Achilles51 you're probably right, but I'm keeping an eye out to be sure.
