    The bit about burton not being great on ice is something I’ve noticed too. Kinda surprising since their headquarters is in Vermont, where the conditions are icy until like February lol. Anyway great review as usual

    I’m also between sizes and it’s frustrating to have big gaps like this. I also fluctuate about ~5-6 lbs frequently which can put me in or out of a given board size (between 182-189). I’m between M and L generally speaking, so I suffer with clothes/boards/bikes equally nowadays.

    Great review as always. Definitely want to try out the grillmaster. I an guessing for chill smooth cruising and carving it would be the perfect board for me for riding with my kids who are new to riding and for my dad who likes longboarding.

      I went ahead and got one and love it. I charge hard the first half of the day with my 14 year old in tow. We push on hard on blues and blacks looking for every side hit we can find. As I get tired later in the day I like to cruise at slower speeds doing butters, riding switch, working on small 180's, riding with the wife, etc. The magic of this board is that it can ride both of these styles great with no apparent weaknesses. It also floats insane in powder. Been riding for 35 years and by far the best board I have ever been on. Just thought you might like the feedback from another Dad. Don't think anymore about it, just get one!

    Man I was pretty set on a jones frontier until I saw this. Which one would you recommend for an intermediate rider who does resort, icy conditions with a little bit of off slope pow. I don’t do any park stuff. Cheers

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  6 месяцев назад

      I would say if you rode out west and got a lot of pow days Gril Master hands down. But out east you will prefer the extra edge hold of the Frontier and the Frontier does have a faster base too.

    What size of gril master would you recommend for me? I am advanced rider looking for a board for chill days. No park just cruising with family. I have also capita megadeath 162 for bombing the groomers and burton hth 160w. I am 100kg, 184 cm, us 11.5. I am considering 160 or 165. What should I choose? Thanks!

      For mellow cruising with the family the 160 might be better.

    I have a 2023 flight attendant that I've beat the crap out of over 1.5 seasons.. It's been a great board but I think I need something wider for my size 13 boot. Would you say the 165 GM would be a noticeable difference over a 162W flight attendant? I want as close to zero drag as possible, FA has a lot of overhang even at nearly 24" wide stance.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  6 месяцев назад

      Well done! The Gril Master is a little wider so it might work. Especially off the front foot but the back foot might not be wide enough for you if you really want to carve hard. There are more options these days for 13's but hit me here to give me all the info I need to actually help. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

    Great review. I’m 155 with all my gear on and have a 9.5 boot. How would you compare this to a con artist? The taper is more mellow with the gril master and it appears that the tail is softer. I’m assuming the turns will be more drawn out. I’m currently in the market for a new deck that I can ride groomers with my toddler and carve hard on when conditions aren’t deep.
    I’m cross shopping with a Korua pencil, Burton home town hero, and a Burton flight attendant.
    I do a lot of surfy carving (posi/posi) but am often in trees during snowy conditions. My current go to boards are the aforementioned con artist (2013) and Burton mug flat top. Been riding for 26 years and I would consider myself an advanced intermediate.
    Thank you!

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks! I like this better on every level vs. the Con Artist but the Con Artist was a fun board. This feels more mellow/versatile and I personally enjoy that aspect. Those are 4 very different boards. Not sure on sizing with only boot size and weight. You might be good with the 155 Grill Master and it works better for you than the HTH and FA but not sure on the Pencil sizing or if that's the best fit but if you like surfy/posi/front foot heavy turning the Pencil is the call. Hit me up here so I can learn more about you and help you properly. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

    Did you like the alakasam or this better?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Месяц назад

      Both are fun but the way the Gril Master rode is more my style. I did like the little extra set back on board and more directional float of the Alakasam though. The Gril Master had a more fun turning experience on groomers. Both Jordan (new women's tester) and felt the Alakasam to be a bit washy on the tail when carving unless we really put a lot of back foot weight into it. Didn't matter how we set it up.

    Hi,
    With the deep thinker who's been more tolerant for the past two seasons,
    Which would you choose and why?
    Thank you!

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  8 месяцев назад

      Not sure what you mean by tolerant. If you go to Snowboard Reviews on the site thegoodride.com/snowboard-reviews/?mens=1 and click favorites you will see the Gril Master there and the Deep Thinker isn't. Both are fun boards though so it really comes down to personal preference. If you like more taper and a more turny ride go Gril Master. If you want less taper and a little stiffer flex go Deep Thinker.

  • @the6ig6adwolf

    Unless you're riding an overly stiff board in overly icy conditions I wouldn't pay to much attention to rider weight specs. Demo as many sticks as possible and buy what feels great, especially when new to the sport.

      You could do both but if you have a 156 (not wide) HTH and like that the 155 will be the better call. It runs a little wider and will work with 10.5's.

    how would you compare it against an HTH(my board for the last 3 seasons)?, from what I can tell, it seems like they "occuppy" the same space in the line-up.. or I don't understand very clearly what's about with these two boards..?!
    As for icy conditions, my HTH slammed me in February on a fast red line off-camber turn at around 40 mph. It was 5 pm and after a sunny day, getting back in the shadow, that part of the slope frozed up and my HTH simply didn't grip. The slam almost knocked me out of my senses, seeing green "stars" like in a Tom&Jerry cartoon, and took a minute or so to get myself up from the protective fences at the edge of the slope; if not for those, I would have faced a serious problem with the 40ft fall, so yeah. Honestly, I know it was on me but, I also now think about a board with more grip in such conditions. Cheers!

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  9 месяцев назад +1

      Very similar but the GM is more tapered/turny. I like the GM better than the HTH but it's all personal preference. Yeah the grip is similar throughout the Burton line so you will have to look elsewhere if you want something that doesn't let go in suprice. BTW been there...man that sucks. Hit me up here if you want to get into it more. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

      No you can make this work no problem with your specs. If I was your weight and boot size this would be a lot of fun for me. Yeah size 9 would be better but with a responsive binding you will be able to turn this no problem. What bindings do you have?

      @thegoodridesnow  10 месяцев назад +1

      Man I like the feel of the Grill Master a little better overall but two very fun rides. Similar flexes and easy pop/turning experiencel. You ride more back on board with the SK but you have more of a tapered feel with the Gril so they each have a fun directional feel. The Gril feels more turny but both are super fun to turn. I do like how sizing goes up a little more incrementally with the SK but both are pretty far between sizes.
