I only have the first 4, but so far I’ve been surprised to find that I like bellara the most. I thought she would be annoying, but I’ve actually found her to be useful and interesting.
>"Whose you're" You mean "who's your" Seriously, I like your videos but you're writing like English is your second language and you've only just started to learn it.
It's a very tough call. I *love* these characters. I'd say Harding, Emmrich, or Neve. Harding's personal quest line is utterly breathtaking and comes with incredible music. As for favorite combat companion - probably Lucanis. He supports a precision/reflex based playstyle and synergizes well with a mage, which fits my preferences perfectly. He's also easy on the eyes and ears.
Just to let people know elements are important, I understand that most people consider having their companion match their element such as neeve with an Ice build . But that’s not actually correct, when looking at your skills in the skill tree you can see by pressing details button That certain skills were crit on certain elements. Necrosis skills like a thousand cuts Guarantees Critz when hitting an enemy that’s chilled and Lightning flask crits When hitting burning enemies
Agreed, I was very skeptical of the combat changes pre-release, but they really nailed it! I love being able to go and kill a High Dragon at level 20. Granted, it took a LONG time, but when it finally dropped it was really cool. I like that you can do a lot of high level content with skill, as opposed some of the older games where there were times that you felt level/gear locked.
@@raginasiangaming910 Exactly. That was one of the things I really didn't enjoy about Inquisition. The inability to dodge and use skill to make up for gear/level was very frustrating. We have a lot of options now to tailor how we fight and it opens up great possibilities. In my first playthrough of Veilguard I felt so excited and proud of beating bosses over 20 levels higher than me because the game actually gives you the potential to do that.
Emmrich's left option is so niche and the right one is so good from a gameplay perspective that even though I wanted to go left story-wise I went right. The right side does so much more damage but the bulk of that was the emotional damage to me. I was not ready for the aftermath either.
My 2¢: I know detonations is a must for most people, but I advise dont dismiss support skills. Such as Darvin or Taash skills that give invulnerable for 6 sec (plus other added effects) with only a 28 sec cooldown, and the healing ability of mage companions, which allows you to use your potions strategically(offensively) with the right belt. Also, the skills that apply [affect] is still useful even if you dont detonate it, Overwhelm and Sundered are my personal favs. Lastly "Attack My Target" is good too, like how Neve makes target vulnerable to cold damage by 25%. So many options. This game is decent, maybe not the Dragon Age we were anticipating, but definitely worth a play in my book.
My favorite combo as a warrior player was Bellara and Taash. Because Bellara can cause AOE weakness with her heal skill (also a great heal on its own) and Taash allows us to detonate all of them at once. Combined with the Weakness rune which causes AOE weakness, you can setup multiple mass detonations within a few seconds or use bellaras gravity arrow to pull them in, pop the rune, then detonate while they are stacked on top of eachother for instant room kill
I was honestly dead set on Neve and Bellara going in, but... Wow. All of them so far are fantastic. I can barely decide. I usually don't go for the male companions but Lucanis is already great. I might need at least six playthroughs with a savescum to see the other romance or something.
Sorry if this was answered but I was wondering what are the enchantments you put on each companions weapons? Or do you have suggested ones for each companion? My Rook is a mage (ice staff) so I’m playing around with what enchantments would be best for each companions weapon. Thanks!
It sounds like across the board, the right option is the better choice, with the exception of Taash but that sounds like the left was more dependent on if you had a fire build. Pretty easier to remember, and makes sense with Neve or Lucanis being restricted to just the left one. Thanks for the video.
Actually just came back to this during Taash's choice and the options are flipped here - Rivaini choice is on the Right and Qun is on the Left, which actually means across the board, the Right side option is the stronger combat choice!
Lucanis. Emmerich. Bellara!? I was surprised at how much I have ended up liking her. I also really like Davrin, I wasn't sure about him at first but he's super fantastic.
I’m a little confused. So if their armor says “detonations cause burning” does that mean that only when that particular companion triggers a detonation they trigger the effect or is it when anyone in the party triggers a detonation?
As someone interested in the Mages Gambit and the Thorn of Misfortune, which can be found in Minrathos and Treviso venders - what exactly are you locked out of from the vender you lose? Is it worth grinding those shops to tier 4 before progressing?
i'm about 40 hours in and it seems like whichever vendor you don't save is gone in their totality for good. i would definitely consider focusing on leveling up those shops before you hit Warden's Best Friend
Let me save you the time. You would be able to get one of those shops to Level 2 if you are from that faction before the Warden mission. I was Shadow Dragon and was able to hit two almost immediately. But I couldn't get enough influence to get Treviso to 4 unless you are okay with farming for over an hour or two (there's a room in Dock Town during Neve's initial quest there that has a ton of pots you can continuously break, then quick travel or reload to make them respawn; doing all of the quests in that area won't get you to 2 otherwise).
It looks like you are showing incorrect info when you are talking about Lucanis' veilguard abilities. Both times you are showing the same armor and veilguard ability even though you seem to be reading the correct info (talking about Demon of Defiance but the video is showing Demon of Rebellion).
For now I’m using Neve and Bellara, because they have skills that are used automatically) But after watching the video, it looks like I want to get permanent bonuses from Lukanis and Emmerich. But I don’t quite understand... can I get these unique bonuses from all companions? Or just one? And is it wise to do a necrotic build for the whole group? Or is it better for yourself and your companions to take 3 different “directions”?
Also, is it me or does companion damage feel veru underwhelming unless detonating? In fairness, i have not focused a ton on companions, my rook is a borderline unkillable beast.
will we be getting a Champion build? i realy wana play it when i get teh game because its heavy warden themed and im making a warden. havent seen any build on it yet so i have no idea if its any good.
So, if im going for a low health rogue build, if i pair Emmerichs left option with the unique low health amulet, does that mean the low health threshold would be 40%? I think the amulet gives another 10%, but i cant remember if the base low health threshold is 20% or 30%.
Question. Maybe I just don't understand. But. In all the descriptions. It says like detonation dmg Yada Yada. Does that mean that ThEy are the ones detonating or does that apply to rook. Cause if I'm playing a spellblade mage all these kinda suck.
I have tried so hard to like her and just can't. I feel the devs tried way too hard to make her cutesie and funny, and the actress overacts a lot of her lines. Bit she is a very solid skill set. I should run her more with my flame warden build. I just wish they'd gone for a little more Tali/Liara...more subtle cute/funny instead of trying to rub our faces in it.
For all necrotic builds, both Emmirich and Lucarnis are BiS companions Lucarnis is replaceable tho if you’re though if you want someone else, anyone can go in his slot.
@ I was just about to reply back with that info. Did some digging online and you’re correct. I was hot for a min though lol I’m not there yet in the game but I think I’m close. Doing a bunch of side quest.
Everything from that vendor, except for I believe the gift for that actions companion, will be sold at the black Emporium whenever it becomes available towards the final third game
Spoilers. I personally run with Harding for her rejuvenate and damage boost and either Neve or Davrin. All three are solid characters with good storylines. I also like Lucanis. I find Bellara pretty cringe, though I think some of that is how consistently the actress overacts her lines. Emmeric is well acted, but just too cartoonish for me. My big issue is with Taash. As a character, she is awful and comes across as a cheap attempt by Bioware to force a certain social agenda on us. Her character, the sullen teenager, is completely at odds with the experienced dragon hunter she is supposed to be. The attempts to have her use modern language are just immersion breaking and cringe (like when your grandfather tries to be hip). Then there are the gender identity cutscenes that also feel very parachuted in to push a social agenda...damn the lore and immersion. Honestly, when facing a potential Darkspawn/Deming apocalypse...does anyone care about your pronouns? I can relate to Lucanis being devastated about his home being destroyed. I can't relate to a sullen teenager throwing a fit because someone used the wrong pronoun. What makes it worse is that the dialog options that Rook gets are basically varying degrees of supportive cheerleader, rather than giving us options to accept/reject/neutral. What happened to the days where we could tell Wrex to go get bent, we are going to let the genocide stand, then blast him away with a shotgun? In general, I feel like the game has way too much of a "Ra-ra, goooo team!" feel to it. Part of what made Bioware games great was that you could be evil, push your companions to the edge, sometimes kill them, and the others that stay with you either become your evil minions or are only there because you're the only real hope they have.
I always bring Harding for "hard battle", and Davrin/Taash because they can taunt by using attacking the target If I want to battle with crowd I bring Bellara/Neve because their combo can detonate. If I'm fighting a tough monster with high health always bring Lucanis because he has necrotic/bleeding, comboing with my Burning Warden build. I haven't even recruited Emmrich😂

@@slakeNsurgeI found out how to do this. The body proportion sliders don’t change it much, it’s actually the body shape slider. You need to put it more into the “overweight” quadrant. no one mentions that bellera is the only companion who will heal you automatically with out having the skill slotted.
Ok, Elf-mage VeilJumper. From the combat, Tassh, Lucanis. Sounds crazy but Mage, assassin, and a strong Tassh, we’re unstoppable.
Emmrich is my favorite. He’s such a sweetheart for a necromancer. 😅

Super useful man nice work.
Harding & Emmerich synergies well with my Rogue. I’m up to level 28 at the moment. I’m enjoying the game a lot!
