Will next month’s Direct be the last one for the Switch? If so do you expect it to deliver?
Whats the point of a dual release for metroid prime 4. Metroid is a niche franchise. Even if it has a dual release it aint outselling any of Nintendo's other franchise. Skyward Sword Remaster Outsold Metroid Dread in sales.
I knew you would miss me and come back and make a new video. ;) Yeah this will likely be the last "Switch focused Direct". While I expect we will continue to get Switch titles for awhile, I do think the fall event or whenever the next main Direct happens will focus on Switch 2. Nintendo is finally about to move on... curious to see when Metroid Prime 4 will materialize. If it's not at this June Direct then it makes me wonder if the game will be targeting Switch 2 or a crossgen release with the Switch 2 version taking the spotlight.
Lots of rumored games for the June Direct with bits and pieces of evidence such as Wind Waker, Kirby's Rainbow Curse, a new Mario Party, possibly Metroid Prime 4, another Fire Emblem, etc. Probably a lot of ports/remasters I would suspect.
Also YES!!! for Star Fox returning!
@@emersonssbb They will soup it up for Switch 2. Could be 4K/60, some other features, etc. I just don't see them dropping a 900p Metroid Prime 4 and just calling it a day right before the Switch is replaced. Nintendo spent many years on this game and it would be basically sent out to die releasing it only on an old console when the focus shifts to mainly Switch 2. I can see them doing either a Switch 2 release or some kind of upgrade/patch for the game.
@@Kschreck Soup it up doesnt save it from being a niche franchise.
@GarrusVakarian-to2uh yeah its best seller on system that sold 21m. How much sales did Metroid Prime Remaster sell on 140m console. It sold like 1-2m.
Everyone wanted a new switch and now knowing this is most likely the final switch 1 direct. It’s crazy 7 years ago the switch revolutionized the gaming industry and changed nintendo’s fate forever!
Even if there’s a Sept direct, there will be at least be one switch 2 game to be teased
It really is crazy that we are coming to the end of the Switch's lifecycle. I remember like it was just yesterday, getting my Switch and plugging in Zelda BOTW, and the amazement I felt with that game. Then playing Splatoon 2, and MK 8 Deluxe, and playing through the entire story mode (Minimum number of moons for each level) of Mario Odyssey on day 1 while at work... Lol. It was such a magical time that I will always remember. Now, my nephew has my Switch and I don't even really care to get it back, because I know it's coming to it's end and the Switch 2 will be revealed soon. Great memories, but excited for what's next.
I miss the TotK hype. There's always a lot of magic in Nintendo's major rollouts. Even for the Switch launch itself it was super hype and left a core memory in a way few things do in my 30s. I remember getting super excited for Super Mario Odyssey to and it's even better when the hype was worth it and the games are as great as we hoped. I hope the Switch successor can capture that excitement though it's got a damn hard act to follow.
That's me. I remember watching hours-long theory videos on ToTK, and watching all the hype for Odyssey, and that to me was just as important as the game itself, getting hyped up with the community. I hope it's the same for their big launches going forward.
@@tjepting1 yea the community and the loads of content and discussion that happens really adds value to any game to me. Like I said I'm 35 and don't have many friends who play games regularly let alone Nintendo so having people who make content on it online fills that void of wanting to talk about and hear what others think about games. There's always inevitably things I learn about the game that I never would have known on my own and I just like learning about lore and development history. These days I spend more time listening to game content than actually playing games. I just don't have the time to game that I used to but when I do get the time I really enjoy myself. TotK is a world I can escape to at anytime and there's really a feeling to it that is beyond words really. It's a safe place when I'm feeling down or alone, it's got a wholesome sort of fantasy to it, there's many timeless themes, and having grown up with Zelda and Mario (and Samus/Metroid) my whole life makes all those series more endearing to me.
What I believe could also be announced outside of remakes & remasters, is a new Mario Party or a new 2D zelda game
Or both
If I were Nintendo, I'd save the new 2d Zelda game for the Switch 2. That way, they get a new exclusive mainline Zelda entry on the system early on, since we all know the next 3d Zelda's gonna take a millennia.
Who knows, though. Maybe they're worried about getting backlash for having their new next-gen Zelda game being 2d, so they'd rather release that now and then have a remake of OoT or an enhanced remaster of Twilight Princess be their big early next-gen Zelda release instead.
@@calvinbrinenestoris2357 the problem is that the OoT is getting a remake and it must be saved for switch 2. 2D Zelda for the switch makes the most sense because it doesn’t cost too much like 3d games and if a 2d mario can make it why not 2d Zelda.
@@therealjaystone2344 I mean, we don't KNOW if OoT was getting remade or not, that was just a rumor. And if it is being remade, there's a good chance it's being done by the same people who did the original OoT and MM remakes on the 3ds, who ALSO made the Link's Awakening remake (and would therefore also probably make the next brand new 2d Zelda), so it's entirely likely that if we get a new 2d Zelda game then we won't get an Ocarina remake, or vice versa.
@@calvinbrinenestoris2357 the 3ds version were marketed as remasters not remakes
We could see that rumored Fire Emblem remake in this June direct.
I could totally see that. It would take very little effort and would keep FE in people’s minds. It would also be funny if they remade the first game as they’ve already remade it twice already. Once for the SNES and once for the DS.
That would be very exciting. It’s an option I didn’t even think about.
IS is known to have their games six months in between. Never before we had both PM & FE to be released closely. Don’t expect the game to show up for June but saved for September.
@@leeartlee915the game was already made but the timing is everything. Early 2025 launch to be exact.
I'm definitely feeling that we're gonna get lots of ports and remasters in this Direct, with minimal new game announcements. Great discussion!
My birthday is in June I'll be 18 this year.
metroid prime 4 trailer
I love how every time Nintendo makes a direct people are like Metroid prime 4 has to be in this one.
Good to see you back on the youtube Rob 😎
I think September could be a final switch only direct. Switch reveal was October
I agree since the next Gen console should be revealed next March on 2025.
I'm 95% sure a new Mario Party is in the Direct. NDcube's game that is codenamed Banquet is popping up, and NDCube's history shows they make Mario Party games. So either a new one or Mario Party Superstars 2 that is a remaster of Mario Party 4-6.
Metroid at all will have me pleased.
I want to see Fossil Fighters come back!
Yes
What a wild call-out but I'd love to see it
Someone needs to make a Hamilton "one last time" song about the switches last direct.
I really wish I could find the comment that I made on of your videos a few years back when you were talking Switch 2 release speculation. I quite literally spelled it out that it's likely late 2024-early 2025. Bunch of people responded to me and said I didn't know what I was talking about yet here we are...
Feels surreal that this is it. The switch still feels new, so another console feels too soon but i guess it would never not feel that
Eternal darkness remaster
Ooooh that would be so good
I could see the Direct opening with Prime 2 remastered and it shadow dropping digitally at the end of the Direct, physical release in 2 weeks. Then it goes into Prime 3 remastered or HD that gets a August/September release. Then the end of the Direct with it's one last thing being a first look sneak peek of Prime 4 and it's release of Q1 2025, so say February 2025. Then the next month goes right from from the Switches last bombshell game into the new system and a new 3D Mario.
Metroid prime 4 on the successor to the Nintendo switch is a bit insulting given the long wait for the game to be released.
I really can’t disagree with much of what you said. Nintendo has made it known that sometime in the next fiscal year, there will be a successor announcement. So they have to be mindful of what first party content gets released to what will eventually be legacy hardware. Metroid Prime 4 was intended to be a Switch release years ago, so I think it’s highly likely we will see it in this Direct. Maybe a Mario Party or Mario Sports game also. And of course some remasters. Let’s go Switch, you can do it. Push forward! You’re almost there!
Just because it says by the end of March 2025 doesn’t mean the console will be dropped by March 2025
@@therealjaystone2344 I think it will be announced by Feb-Mar 2025 because Nintendo set a very aggressive sales target by end of March 2025. And they aren’t going to reach that goal if they reveal the successor before the crucial 2024 holiday season.
@@Telmarine55 sounds like way too late to release the trailer
Likely the last dedicated Nintendo direct solely on the Switch featuring first party titles. There could be an indie direct solely focused on the Switch before 2024 comes to a close.
I remember in 2020 thinking that the next nintendo would be out soon, this better be good dammit 😭
They never said that the June Direct IS THE LAST one since we SHOULD expect the final one on September than June since we would need new info on the holiday title for Nintendo Switch.
Metroid Prime 4 and/ or Donkey kong, being the final switch game i think that be cool.
4:34 Metroid Prime 4(yes i full of copium), next Mario Party, a Zelda game of some kinda(brand new 2D Legend of Zelda, Twilight Princess/Wind Waker HD port), a Kirby game
A LINK BETWEEN WORLDS ON SWITCH!
I think mario party and Metroid prime 4 are switch holiday games from Nintendo
Not a dam chance since Metroid Prime 4 should be released early next year since that series isnt aim for kids, but for teens or adults only and BEFORE the next gen console is released.
Wonder how far along they are with Metroid 6
It's will be released in the next year. Can't wait.
Its crazy to think this is the final direct for switch, I'm excited, i can't wait for the next gen is announced :D
Hey, i think you messed up a bit. You said it could come out any day from today to march 2025, but he said in the beginning that it would be "this fiscal year".
I think they may have some bangers for the June Direct.
I don’t think they’ll phase out the Switch just yet though.
The Switch won’t be phased out for at least another 3 years.
I’ve had enough of the copium and the hopium. I don’t care about any other game reveal except for MP4. Seven years is enough time for them to have SOMEthing to show. Whether it’s a Switch title, a hybrid release, or a Switch 2 successor, surely it will be worth the wait. But there’s got to be something they can show us in June.
Give me a Switch port of Yoshi's Woolly World, & I'll be satisfied!
Rob, I am fully with you on the idea that prime 4 is going to cross the two platforms. I have thought this for years. So, as a way of tempering my own expectations, here is what I think will happen with the game now. I don't think Metroid prime 4 will be shown at this direct. I think they are going to show it when they reveal the new system, as a way of showcasing what it can do fully and also to help really push the franchise to new heights. During the reveal, I think they will announce that it's also going to be released for the Switch. I just feel like if they show it right now, essentially on the eve of showing off their new system, they will kind of blow their wad with it a little early. If they show it now, it won't have nearly as much impact if they show it a second time in a few months just because it's on a new system.
This console era was such a doozy. Man, did I love the Switch era.
Exciting times, I wonder what games are lined up. Would love to see those Star Fox remasters
I don’t think this will be the last one considering the switch is still selling it hasn’t truly slowed down yet
This may be the last direct for the current Switch generation but the Switch will continue to be supported by Nintendo for at least another 3 years so we will see a lot of cross gen games for both Switch and Switch 2 just as Sony did with the PS5 and Xbox did with Xbox Series X.
Switch holiday price drop announcement when the Switch 2 is revealed
FE4 remake opening and Metroid Prime 4 ending.
Samus Returns HD would be cool but I’m really hoping for The Wind Waker port. That’s been something that literally every Switch owner has asked for for years!
I think those games that are currently running as cloud versions on the switch will carry over to the switch 2, but can be run natively
Another Code Recollection you need to give it a try, it is really good, 10/10 masterpiece!
It is a brand new game that is loosely inspired by the original 2 games, but it is an entirely new game and should be treated as such.
Pretty sure that game is hinting at something that we can see for the next Nintendo console.
Still waiting for Wind Waker hd, Fzero GX hd, Metroid Prime 2 and 3 remake 😁😁😁
Nintendo wants to sell 13 mil consoles this fiscal year. If they're serious about that prediction they HAVE to have a big game, I can't imagine selling those numbers otherwise.
I"ll tell ya what. If they finally give us that Xenoblade X port, I will scream like a little girl with excitement.
Honestly every single game you just said I couldn’t muster up enough to even care. I just want Twilight Princess and Wind Waker ported over
At this point the only game port I no longer want on Switch is Xenoblade Chronicles X. It's an amazing game that didn't get the attention it deserves and if it comes out on Switch at this point its once again going to be ignored
It will come to the Switch 2
@westonmeyer3110 that's my hope. The game deserves a remaster and more people playing it
@@krizlad
It will more likely be a full on remake
I hope a remaster of DK country returns and a new Kirby or planet robobot remaster
Time for Metroid prime pinball 2
Zelda windwaker HD port from wiiu ?
Almost definitely! 🤞
September Direct would be the final direct.
Maybe. Or it may be focused on Switch 2. We don't really know yet. Or it may not even be a regular direct, but some sort of presentation for the next console
@@ravenebony2267 Reveal for a new console would be after. And anything with the Switch name for a new console would be a massive mistake by Nintendo.
Honestly i think Switch 2 is the absolute best name they could use.
@HipnotikHylian that's just your opinion. But Switch 2 is clear. What? Do you want them calling it the New Nintendo Pretendo U Deluxe Plus Ultra or something?
@HipnotikHylian seriously. Just laughing at me and being constricting isn't as clever a debate strategy as you seem to think it is
Hopefully we see a combination (obviously not all of these will happen) of the following:
-Wind Waker/Twilight Princess
-2D Zelda (New or Remake)
-Metroid Prime 2 & 3 + Samus Returns
-Metroid Prime 4
-Super Mario Galaxy 2
-New Mario Party
-Mario Sports Title (Baseball/Sluggers 3🤞🏼)
-Kirby Port (Epic Yarn or Rainbow Curse)
-Fire Emblem IV Remake
-Luigi's Mansion 1 Port
-F-Zero GX Remaster
-Star Fox Adventures/Assault Remaster
-Kid Icarus: Uprising Port
-N64/GBA NSO Roadmap
I would be excited to see some of these be announced next month
If half of these get into the last direct i would be surprised
I suspect the June Direct will be 25 minutes long. Though I hope it's a meaty 40 minute one.
6:51 theres still no brand new 2D/3D Donkey Kong game.
i just want metroid prime 4 and a new 2d zelda or oot remake
September 2024 gets another Direct and this video gets pulled down.
2:56 Switch sucessor will problaby be revealed in late octobre/early 2024(january), Nintendo will not risk a negatively impact on Switch sales
I’m keeping my expectations very low for this direct. Considering it’s probably the last switch focused one I’m expecting only one big ish game and the rest to be filler content. I hope the big ish game they show is either the Zelda remasters or Metroid Prime 4.
I don't mean to rain on your parade, Rob, and ultimately, Metroid Prime The Fourth is STILL COMING, of course, but if they give us the second and third one, then I don't see them talking about the fourth one and overshadowing the release of two and three.
The importance of Metroid prime 4 revealed next month
Looking forward to your reaction lol
Coming to the end of switches lifetime and still no prime 4
I hope prime 4 is mentioned so i can see arlo's reaction
I wish they would remake a few of the older Zelda games . I never got a chance to play alot of those games.
I'm at the point where I don't want to see any of the titles I love coming to the Switch. Please save it for the next generation 😉
Another Silk Song Prediction. To me “no” Microsoft pay for day1 game pass why they will announce on Nintendo show. As my prediction,They will have 1 or 2 brand new small size game like Mario sport or party game and Brain age like to announce and some remasters for it like DS remaster like Another code (Maybe Hotel dusk) and for Nintendo fans who play every single Nintendo game it’s a treat more than Starfox remaster (it’s will come eventually don’t get me wrong) instead big name easy to predict that can go to Switch 2 instead new game and remaster for small name that even it come to Switch 4-5 games it’s not effect Switch 2 reveal at all.
you bring up a lot of interesting stuff. I don't really play many games besides like pokemon and mario anymore but the switch 2 just seems like it's gonna be so interesting news and discussion wise. no switch pro rumors every 2 weeks that you hear about even if you wanna avoid it just good games a new console sounds interesting hioasdf
The longer they wait the more disappointed we will be!
I think a remaster or remake of donkey Kong 64 would be super cool!
It could only be possible if Microsoft allows though
I don’t see this as a particularly important Direct. At this point, Nintendo should be getting its ducks in a row for the launch of the next system and the year following the launch.
Sure, any new game announcements would be cool, but they won’t make a difference in the way the Switch is viewed. It has been an epic system, even if nothing comes out for the next nine months.
METROID PRIME ECHOES REMASTERED
I see where your coming from but I think the reveal of Switch 2 will be in Oct/Nov which means that another current Switch only Direct could occur in September
Unless Nintendo had one more killer app for this holiday season like a new 2d Zelda
@@therealjaystone2344 I agree at best it could be a Direct Mini but a new Zelda game which could be a Oracle of Ages/Seasons or even a Minish Cap remake could be a cool holiday game which they could reveal or elaborate more on in a Sept Direct
I agree MP 4 is coming to the Switch. I believe Switch 2 is coming in 2025.
What about if they shadow drop Seasons of Heaven next month.
They need to drop mp4 in the next direct, its been to long..
If I’m being honest, I’m surprised they are bother with a direct this year. There’s not going to be one AAA title announced. I’m 95% sure of it.
True but any Zelda or Metroid releases or news will feel big enough for me.
@@Ray-dl5mp you’re talking remake/rereleases right? Yeah, I’m so over buying games that are 20 years old for $60. I’m happy for poeplle that does it for them but I refuse to give Nintendo full price for games that are essentially decades old.
@@leeartlee915 fair enough. I don’t blame you at all. Nintendo has hit the jackpot with these remaster releases. Keeps the fans of every franchise happy and they only spend lots of time on ones that are guaranteed or they think are guaranteed to sell well or bring back a franchise. It’s super smart financially, but yes it does feel like everything is so calculated now. Just compared to the competition, Nintendo looks like they release lots of games even if most of them are remasters or barely changing from previous title.
@@Ray-dl5mp Well that's false. Most of the 1st party nintendo games that have been released on Switch aren't remasters
@@danzoelizio2288 yes well I said remasters or barely changing from last game. But it depends how much leeway you give them. I’m a Nintendo fan. Just trying to be realistic. Most of their franchises have small iterations even when they are a new game. Except for Mario and Zelda (except the last one).
I call lies on June's direct being the final switch direct
The next system won't be releasing till jext year, and we are bound to have another switch direct near the end of the year.
This isn't the final switch focused direct.
hi Rule of 2 Review
Why does everyone say switch 2. It could be a tv setup only called Nintendo Stay. Or even just a portable console called Nintendo Mobile.😂
Reveal it in 2024 to butcher 2024 Christmas sales?
Tired of ports, remasters and remakes
Pleaae for the love of god, let metroid prime 4 cook for the switch sucessor.
no way not after they announced it for switch years ago. besides some people like me have no intention on upgrading immediately. pokemon is releasing on the base switch so I'm not gonna get it unless it has a 3d mario at launch.
@@MogusMasterSaikawa22 i mean it should 100% be a launch title for the switch 2, what better way to kickoff a new platform. The switch is such old hardware, I would rather wait and see it on the 2.
@@FaZeredemption3 I see haoisdf ah some people talk like it should be switch 2 exclusive and idk like 3d mario that makes sense but metroid still sad to say since I was a massive fan of it but I don't know if it's the best system seller. not like you won't get one eventually exclusive for it so hioasdf. idk I hope we see it in the direct if there's any game even someone like me would play it's metroid XD
@@MogusMasterSaikawa22 what is haoisdf???

A prominent leaker named Brazil did confirm this would be the last focused Switch direct. I’m hoping that Nintendo will announce a new wave of games for Gameboy and Gameboy Advance on Switch Online. I think they are pretty much out of their own games when it comes to NES, SNES, and N64.
Giving us a month in advance heads up wasn't to surprising. We used to get that back when E3 was a thing. We would know Sony's day, Xbox's day and Nintendo at the end. Also I think the reason Nintendo told us this in advance even though a June Direct is a given, is because we haven't had a proper Nintendo Direct since what, last September? Since there was no February one, it's been a long gap, so they needed to be like oh don't worry, we still do regular Directs.
🔥
Yall so positive that is will be released next yeear 😂😂😂
@HipnotikHylian reread the tweet again. They said they'll talk about a successor thats all. Never did they confirm they will be releasing it. There's still talks they meant they csn announcement it will be out in the next few years. Read between the lines. We'll find out more eventually.
Please do not put the word Starfox and Amazing in the same sentence.
Star Fox is amazing.
Starfox done right is absolutely stellar

@TheDarkLink7 Yes, it's so intense, in 2 days there have been 4 comments.
Nice to see someone is drinking copium. Metroid Prime 4 is either dead or is not coming to this console.
It was announced for Switch and they never said otherwise
I see self-importance has entered the chat.

I’m generally expecting at least one or two more big first party games from the Switch, and maybe some smaller sized games in the side.
