You're such a humble and generous man Grisha .. that's what a true maestro should have ..God bless wish you many more success ..and sharing your life experience is so inspiring and motivating for me ...
Hi Grisha I live in Spain and grew up with the music of Paco de Lucía. You are a great guitar player and a humble and very nice person. I know how many sacrifices you must have done but it was worth it. You are Paco's legacy so congratulations and thank you for your art.
Grisha, often I've seen you play live and it's a huge blessing. Once, at one of Eliot's parties, back when you were still quite shy, it seemed, you were totally off the hook that night, dumping your heart in your guitar, in a zone. I had a digital recorder hooked up in the front room where you sat alone playing while everybody else was exercising Stephan's new guitars elsewhere. After about four hours, when the party was breaking up, I went in to recover my recording, but when I picked up the machine the cord fell out and I lost it all in a flat second! I nearly burst into tears right there. But the best is often that way, unreproducible, I've learned. Fortunately I have the bootleg recording of your Senior Recital which I totally LOVE-- and have worn out several CD's of it. These many words are just my way of thanking you, saying how much I admire you as a human, yes, but as The Maestro--Paco's legacy in the flesh. Thanks for these videos; they're wonderful--and the rare guitars are spectacular! I'm so glad you stuck with flamenco where, IMO, you reign supreme. Stay well and happy. Carla
This is amazing, maestro! Thanks a lot for sharing us a little part of your personal experiences and thanks for showing us that you're a great man. Please keep posting more videos so we can learn a little of your amazing guitar talent/skills. Best regards from México! 🇲🇽
god bless you Grisha. I am your fan and I think NO ONE is compared to you in the world, and I always appreciate and adore your flamenco guitar playing and videos.
Thanks Grisha for sharing some of your background with us, and keeping the highest standards of Flamenco playing alive in the footsteps of Paco de Lucia. It's clear that very hard work, being 5' 9" tall, having a very talented parent to teach you, and humility is a great combination for success.
Wow, what a humble man you are, Grisha. You're a phenomenal guitarist. And also it always seems funny to me that people think that someone was born being good at something... You had to work a lot and practice and more likely say NOto many things to get where you are: this is the message everyone should be giving, in my opinion, so thank you for that. Keep doing this videos, I subscribed!
Grisha, it's great to hear your talk, you never changed bro. Top 3 most humble people I met in my life (I cannot remember the other two). I took some private lesson at the New England conservatory sometime in 2009 back when I thought I had what it takes to play flamenco. He taught me a bulerias and a soleares and showed me how to play Paco Peña Rumbeando la Milonga. He played (If I remember correctly) a limited edition Martin with a sound port that used to make the upright piano in the room hum with resonance. Grisha introduced me to Thai tea at a neighboring restaurant. He recounted the story with Paco and he often talked about his dad's positive influence. It was the highlight of my short-lived musical "career" to listen and learn from him. I hope to see you in concert sometime soon.
Grisha, I have been a fan of yours since I found a video of you on RUclips back in 2006. I have yet to see anybody else that can play Paco like Paco. His spirit lives on in your playing! Thank you for sharing yourself with us. I hope to one day see you play in person.
Lol, this is awesome. 40 is the new 20 by the way (so I tell myself). Only difference is now we know what we want out of life and usually can figure out how to get it;) Anyway, thanks for being so approachable, down to earth, humble and committed to making an impact!
The best moment for me was when you described your "treasure". I know exactly how you feel. I'm a simple guitarist and met Paco at a concert once and made a picture of him with me. I have framed this picture and it's always next to me. Treasures are more worth than gold!!
One universal assumption we have about you mr. Grisha, is that you are a great guitarrist of our times..No one plays sabicas and paco de lucia better than you..I thank you for your generosity in teaching real picados and falsetas....
Good man Grisha - 70s kids rule! Thanks for telling us about yourself... i really appreciate your lessons - they have helped me change my approach to practice... im the opposite to you i have been playing electric guitar for years but since i bought a flameco guitar I am hooked. The techniques are a great challenge and you teach them really clearly.
Hi Grisha! I've been a fan of yours for quite a few years and I totally respect you as a person and guitarist. Paco de Lucia changed me like that, when I first heard him, rock guitar became secondary. I saw him in concert in 2012 and I also got his autograph. I also saw Vicente Amigo here in Savannah GA. I hope you come here one day!! I was fortunate to see Ana Vidovic in concert and I met her afterwards. I told her "you're my favorite classical player and Grisha is my favorite flamenco player"--she kinda lit up and said "Grisha is fantastic"
Thank you Grisha, what a lovely insight as to who you are. Interesting that you say you are only an OK guitarist as you can see your mistakes. I think this applies to all artists, musical or otherwise, and at all levels. The reception you get from your audience is a better measure of you undoubted talent. I would be delighted if I could be 100th as good as you.
You deserve all the good things that can happen to a human being. One of the few worthwhile talents. At last a grown up understanding of music, and most of all a grown up understanding of other forms of guitar music from someone coming from a classical perspective.
Congratulations for your hard work. As an Andalusian who likes flamenco but never even tried to learn to play it, it is flattering to see that people with a complete different background appreciate it and even manage to study it and become flamenco artists themselves. In this sense, thank you for your work and for sharing it.
Hi Grisha, hope you doing ok in this Covid time. Nice video about yourself for fan to know you a little more about you ! You have made a lot of sacrifice, traveling the world for your show, away from your family, practice for hours take a lot of hard work and determination. Hope to see you soon in California.
thanks for this video. you are so generous to provide your lessons and to speak to people who are curious about you and your playing. a true blessing for all interested in this wonderful music.
I really love you when you play guitar, I think first time I saw you was 7 years ago, and until today I still hear that music, keep doing the old stuff. you are a real artist.
Thank you Grisha for the grace and humor with which you dispel some myths. It's easy to forget that creative, highly talented people are not superhuman, and that they work very hard to develop their skill. You are one of the young guitarists who have expressed deep truths through your music, and have done so with humility.
Your journey has yielded a great journey for me in following your career. Bravo, Grisha - and you're a cool dude, too. Thanks! (From a Texan) I'm a hack on electrical and acoustic (well, I have recorded some very enjoyable improvised and learned tracks for original music - I enjoy them!). I am SUCH a beginner on classical. I don't know what I will pick up from flamenco, but I sure dig it!!! :-)
Hello there Grisha, i'm a huge fan of Paco de Lucia myself to and watching your videos always get me in tears. Thanks for sharing a small piece of your life with us. Greetings from Madrid.
I respect your humanity and passion for the art of both flamenco and classical, many people give up before they even tried hard to get it right, you a committed and well disciplined player well done my friend, even though we so far apart the music seems to unite us in all . From Cape Town South Africa.
Frankly, I'm proud to be your student. Not only u're the best Flamenco player, you're truely a genius instructor, and of course so humble n generous. I'm so proud 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much Grisha for sharing the personal aspects of your life. You are a humble great human being. You are a self made virtuoso in every sense - thank you so much for sharing your immense talent with us. You are always a pleasure to watch and listen to. God bless.
It's all your hardwork and sacrifice that you have made which only you know about Maestro has led you where you are. You are amazing, humble and great human being . 😇 Keep playing and good to see you smile 😁 Oleeeeee ❤
Grisha, thanks for the great inspiring music. I was fortunate to see you play in person in Corvallis, Oregon a few years ago. Hope you can return to the Western US again.
LOL Awesome!! Thank you Grisha for sharing these stories, they are all great! The electric guitar shred story is so true! I tell all my friends that they are two different animals and have vastly different approaches. It was great meeting you in Buffalo NY! come back again soon! (Note: please turn up your microphone it is difficult to hear you) thanks
Thanks for the video! Nice stories ya told! The treasure you showed is pure gold. I suppose it's a sample that Paco got from the factory when the album was remastered as a cd and now you got it. After a while it can be quite valuable :-) It already is.
Since 2008 i was curious about you, i watched every videos of you, i tried to figure out lots of your movements so on and so forth... Now this video is great because you are a virtuosa and you are not dressed seriuous, you are whou you are and talking with us, i liked that style sir and may be you will be the first virtuousa vlogger of the world :)) who knows
Coming from the classical world I’d like to get some advice on fun pieces for building flamenco skills but still musically entertaining. If you recommend a collection that is maybe a parallel to the Carcassi studies or the easier, early Sor Etudes that would be great. I know some basic rasgueados, but your “continuing rasgueado” technique as I’ve seen it labeled is just outstanding. Any advice there is welcomed. Thanks for posting your excellent music!
This is why you’re Grisha “Grozny” in the old Russian meaning of the word not the English! Grisha The Formidable. In all seriousness, mate, you’ve been an inspiration for many of us when it has come to playing the guitar and its been lovely listening to your stories and confirming that you are definitely not an alien :) best wishes
I always assumed you had longer fingers than normal. It looks so easy for you too scale. Is this true? Thank you for sharing your amazing techniques. I just started learning guitar and flamenco style. I practice your videos 2hrs everyday and I am improving and learning very fast. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Keeping the flamenco style alive is very important. You are a true musician and artist. Love from Australia ❤️
Dear Grisha the maestro of our time! thank you very much for the video which gives great motivation for a beginner and wish you all good health to play more and more beautiful music for the world..
The greater the artist, the more humble he is. Greetings from Serbia. Ps - regarding your opinion on hard work: a few days ago, the guitar player from Serbia ( Igor Paspalj) was titled as the best electric guitar player in the world for 2020. according to the Guitar World magazine. He said that talent is 5% and the rest is hard work. He used to practice 10h per day in the first 10 years.
You mentioned electric guitar... what about acoustic guitar? I have to say, you are incredibly, off the charts, talented and yet so humble and down to earth!
Enjoyable lesson ! Being an electric and acoustic player for years, in my midle ages decided to practice flamenco guitar, it seems like I learn playing guitar from beggining .
Grisha this video was so enduring I have felt jealous of you and deflated at times because you are so good. You are a good person and I am more of a fan now than ever.
Please Grisha, make a video about how to avoid lesions with the right and left hand (fingers). It would be great! Thanks for sharing your music and knowledge with us.
What an absolute charming young man !! And yes, you are an excellent, marvelous guitarist with dare I say it...Mozart-like precision !! Impeccable tone with fingering that's pretty much flawless and the best is a right hand technique that is like De Lucia, Parkening and Van Halen all rolled in one !! So with so obviously a talent out of this world...my favorite line is when he says...''no, I'm not an alien...'' 😁 💘 🎸
6:30 GMT (Ohio). I’ve just discovered your playing. I love listening how you blend technical prowess with sensitivity. I’ve also watched you play this same instrument in other videos. May I ask, and if you have the time to reply, who’s the maker and the tone woods used in its construction?
After viewing your clip, I have to say you are such a talented guitarist, anyway, who wants to play electric guitar when mastering flamenco like you do? And you are so humble, I'm pretty sure you would play electric like the best if you wanted, anyway with fingers or pick...much respect, maestro...
Ok so this was way more funny that I thought it would or should be.. 'I'm just human, not an alien' :P 10+ years ago I fell in love with flamenco guitar playing. You're a cool dude, Grisha!
Wonderful...thank you for sharing! As a metal electric guitarist (44 yrs) being in flamenco for maybe 3 yrs, I have the same experience, except the reverse! Haha! Living through you my friend \m/
This was very interesting Grisha. My theory is that growing up with it, your hands grow into it thereby avoiding age related hand problems later in life. Have you ever had hand or wrist pain and now do you do any type of exercises for the fretting hand? Practice makes the master, this is true. I knew a concert violinist(first row) and she practiced scales and difficult runs every day. Sounded not musical, but that was not the point. Thanks much for these videos.
Very good video Grisha, I hope you are able to do these kind of videos more often. We would like to know more the behind of scenes, about your playing. btw, you probably heard of Gerardo Nunez, the story goes that I bought his Flamencos In New York CD, back in 1995, to make the story short, his niece is my wife. Had I not bought this CD, I would not have met my wife....btw ...I am 62 and go to the gym daily........don't stop exercising.
I am one of those because it is more than about speed and technique...He is not just playing guitar, he is playing flamenco...It is about softness, sweetness, passion, anger, pain...Lots of feelings...When one plays flamenco too fast evenly most of the time these feelings cannot come through accordingly in different expressions, ....Paco de Lucia played fast, slow, soft, strong, with lots of feeling...The part of feeling is not so evident here...That is what I perceived and I consider him to be very good...As a matter of fact he is the only non-Spanish I like so far throughout my life...
Here you can appreciate all in one person...and he is not even a Spaniard...ruclips.net/video/Zm5jiAv38q0/видео.html En este video ignora los demás instrumentos pero recoge el sentimiento de estas cuerdas ruclips.net/video/KzEFQW9CXGc/видео.html
Hey Grisha this is Guitarbuddha (silly, silly, name) I did a guitarists workout video for fun it might make you laugh. Nice to hear you are a runner too. My dad taught me music just by playing his accordion around the house, as well as I've ever heard, I hear him still though he died many years ago. Good to see you as always. All the best Maestro.
You're such a humble and generous man Grisha .. that's what a true maestro should have ..God bless wish you many more success ..and sharing your life experience is so inspiring and motivating for me ...
Thanks my friend!
Enoch .... I totally agree with your comment....!
@@kasunmaduwage2316 thanks so much ..it was straight from my heart , greetings ,respect and peace brother!!!
Enoch Harold, I think every normal person should be a humble. What about Grisha, he is really talent.
Totally agree
This kind of cotent is sometimes way more precious than tutorials.
Environment, habits and mindset are great details to make a huge difference.
You are not just an admirable guitarist but also a great person! Full respect man!
So you’re a “normal” human being? Good to know that there’s hope for ME!!!! I really look forward to studying with you at some point.

You're a guiding star for many of us.

Grisha, I have been listening to your playing for over 10 years. This is the best story of Spanish Guitar I have ever heard:)

What an awesome video. It’s so nice to hear part of your story :)
6:30 GMT (Ohio).
I’ve just discovered your playing. I love listening how you blend technical prowess with sensitivity. I’ve also watched you play this same instrument in other videos. May I ask, and if you have the time to reply, who’s the maker and the tone woods used in its construction?
One of the greatest guitarists I've ever seen... Stunning.
Your words are very helpful I remember in interview that you said learn variety things makes you learn fast
Great guitarist and a greater man. God bless you.
Full support , you are the best and you are down to earth, welldone for all
After viewing your clip, I have to say you are such a talented guitarist, anyway, who wants to play electric guitar when mastering flamenco like you do? And you are so humble, I'm pretty sure you would play electric like the best if you wanted, anyway with fingers or pick...much respect, maestro...
You are the best guitarrists of the world UR AMAZING
What a big surprise,what a story,Now I get to know you better,after a long time.bless you.
Lol at “im just human.” Loving this!
Incredible! Thanks for sharing!

You’re the man Grisha! Amazing 🙏🎶
