    Little bit of real talk:
    The information and commentary in this video is, in my opinion, well done and has the potential to really help you all out, but I'll be the first to admit that the clips used in the video aren't up to my usual standard. I've been going through some personal struggles, of which I'm currently getting professional help for. I'm doing much better now compared to a month ago. Anyways, playing Squad has felt like a chore as of recently, but I still sincerely want to keep helping out the community. I was excited to get this guide out to you all, but after 2 weeks of trying and failing to get the perfect clips and constantly beating myself up for not completing my task, I decided it was time to compromise and move on to greener pastures. I hope you all still find the video enjoyable and helpful! I've got some new projects planned that are not only a little easier on myself, but also will be some of my most educational content to date!

      Tbf IFVs arnt really good for doing troop transport because 1. Chance of hostile infantry which ATs in squad is OP against armor and most IFVs are tracked therefore 1 lay will/could possibly ruin a game, IFVs like the Bradley and the BMP-2 are not essential IFVs for troop transport as again they are tracked vehicles and they are slower and more vulnerable compared to wheeled APCs.

      I haven't been able to convince people to run combined arms where we have dismounted troops supported by APC. Get out, fight, and jump back in for the next move to some area in need of support or a flag assault.
      Dudes run off doing their own thing and forget about the vehicle all the time.
      Any squad really should be like an *organism*, where all the parts work together, react as something that's more than the sum of its parts and have the same nervous system. Comms and proximity of sight and sound.

    Honestly it's good to see a guide on some of the most underused Vehicles within the game and with this I hope to see some more people using the APC's as APC's and not Anti-Armour on wheels, but there are some discrepancies that I noticed like the BTR-82 not overheating, it does overheat just takes alot longer to do so and with the BTR-80 being a 50, the gun that the 80 has on it is a 14.5mm and is why it's better at taking down helo's and is decent at engaging hostile light armour targets.
    But in overall I am very pleased to see this guide and I will hope for more in the future along the lines of how vehicles should be used to fit their intended purposes. Also I love the content please keep it up

    The problem of APCs not being used as APCs goes all the way back to the introduction of APCs in Squad. When they were introduced, they were the heaviest vehicles in the game and instantly took up the role of being "tanks". This bad habit has carried on to this day and you rarely find APC squads actually transporting infantry. You'll have a better chance with the helicopters because they actually enjoy transporting infantry.

    Working WITH your team, even one other unit whether armor or infantry, is seriously the most underrated point about running armor. "Force multiplier" might just sound like some tacticool jargon, but it really works. There isn't much that annoys me more than armor pushing the objective all by themselves, when delaying only a minute or two for the rest of the team would make the assault much more effective, survivable, and able to follow-through.
    On a similar note, it's too common that armor prefers to swing wide on the map to flank around the enemy by themselves when sticking to the hard cover on or near the objective, surrounded and supported by friendly infantry, is a superior option. Talil is the best example of this, everybody wants to take their tank (or worse, their APC/IFV) into the open desert when there is a ton of great cover on the objectives, and if the team is smart there should be a vehicle station there as well. While you are right that often getting the drop on the enemy is the deciding factor, especially in a defensive situation superior positioning and teamwork means that even on the slim chance you are hit with a surprise, your ability to react with combined arms will usually win out.

    Cannot agree more on this one. So I am a squad player from China and I have been playing this game for 1.1k hours. I would like to share some of my thoughts. So in a typical Chinese server, infantry squads usually go out on logi trucks. As for the APCs and IFVs, their first priority is to hunt down as much enemy vehicles as possible, including but not limited to enemy APC, IFV, trucks, choppers, and even MBTs. When I am on the IFV or the APC, there are seldom infantry sqd leaders who call out to me: hey there BTR/Stryker, let me and my boys get on and send us to a position, which makes me sad. But when I am playing as a inf sqd leader, I would love to ask for the help from a vehicle to move us around. First, it is so much quicker than to run on foot, and second, it is far safer than to run a truck. When you are on foot, you are facing bullets with you flesh. When you are on a truck, you are facing bullets with you flesh outside a thin layer of iron. But if you are in an IFV or APC, you are facing the bullets behind some steady steel armor.

    The most overpowered aspect of this game is easily the different methods of smoking points. Between mortars and APC smoke generators, it almost entirely can make pushes on the line between points feasible if a single mortar hab/apc combo absolutely covers the next cap with smoke. Especially on maps like Chora or Anvil with narrow objective areas.

    The best tactics of APC use in Squad I see is as follows: all the team infantry splits into 4 squads. Two of them are common full stack defense/engage squads which specialize on defending and engaging of relevant objectives. The third one is mobile reserve squad equipped with it's own transport truck or light APC used to quickly reinforce where it's needed the most right now. And finally forth squad is the mechanized breach squad equipped with heavy APC and engineer to engage and take out enemy FOBs. At the beginning of the round Breach Squad mostly does nothing but helps capping neutral objectives trying to save it's heavy APC intact. But as soon as "frontline" is established and all the enemy squads are involved into fight, Breach Squad engage the next enemy objective (uncapable yet) and takes out its FOB if present, and it should succeed as there shouldn't be much resistance as almost all enemy forces are involved into fight. As soon as job is done Reserve Squad quickly moves to this objective to hold it until it becomes capable. And Breach Squad engages relevant objective FOB from behind and takes it out and helps engaging squad to take the objective. When it becomes obvious the objective is about to be capped, Breach Squad attacks the next after next objective. And defending squad moves to the next objective to take place of Reserve Squad. And then just repeat the sequence until enemy Main only is left uncapped.
    With such a tactics the team is unstoppable.. and round duration is short. Of course provided Breach Squad heavy APC stays behind it's infantry (with LAT staying next to it) and covers their push to enemy FOB or objective with FRAG and MG fire above their heads, but not roaming around alone and unprotected from LATs and HATs fire. And APC should avoid to engage enemy heavy APCs or IFVs until they are softened with LAT hits. Thus Breach and Reserve squad can preserve their mobility until the very end (victorious one) of the round.

    Sometimes I run into Squad leads making charlie or bravo a two man APC within a 9 person infantry squad and I think that's pretty solid as long as the SL tells the vehicle to play conservatively. Typically if I'm an APC driver we're gonna be a mobile ammo box, friendly hab support, and only get onto a point if it's neutralized or if a vehicle we can tackle needs to be taken care of. Sometimes the rushing APCs are effective on the first point in invasion, but most of the time they're dead 10-15 minutes in lmao. The main thing most vehicle crews NEVER consider is that the asset they're in is worth 10+ tickets and they have a lot of work in breaking even, helicopter pilots are probably the worst for this just flying around solo not doing anything for the team getting shot down once every 15 minutes...

    The BTR-80 and BRDM-2 are equipped with a 14.5mm KPVT gun, not a 12.7mm (.50 cal).
    It's about 8% more powerful than a 12.7mm!
    It was recently buffed an now has twice the rate of fire (as IRL).
    I've killed many LAVs, Strykers and TAPVs with it, even before the buff. It's a strong weapon system, but you need to know how to use it. You can't just rush into combat and engage vehicles head-on. You have to play strategically and use it as designed ; a recon vehicle for the BRDM-2 and an APC for the BTR-80. My favorite of the two is the BRDM-2, because it's quick and small. I find a hidden spot where I can get eyes on the objective, but not to close to it and I report what I observe to the other squads. If there's only infantry, I use the 7.62mm PKT to engage them, but if there's a vehicle spotted nearby, I patiently wait to get a good shot on it. I shoot the turret first, then the engine.
    The easiest are the Stryker, LAV 3, TAPV, TLAV, M-ATV, LPPV and PMV because as long as you are more than 850 meters from them, they can't penetrate you, but you can penetrate them! Then you don't even have to worry about hitting the RWS, just shoot the hull. Often, I don't actually kill them, but I damage them just enough before they spot me, so that I can move out and relay it's position to another vehicle (or AT infantry) so they can finish them. I just love the BRDM-2!

For an advanced one I would wish for more details about best shooting practices to avoid overheating (time to overheat), beside disabling the turrets what other tactics to win a 1 vs 1 between the different APCs. Too often fights end very close and at least you need RTB except you surprise your opponent from behind. Also best practices if you encounter a Bradley or BMP.

    • @Gorlami14
      @Gorlami14  3 года назад +1

      Thank you! Honestly the best shooting practices for really any APC or IFV is to git the turret first. If it has stabilization, its something like 50% damage will knock out the stabilization, and then 100% renders the turret dead.

  • @Beneficiis
    @Beneficiis Год назад

    I think that there's a reason why it's not used so much. Mostly - because it's high profile. It's much easier to spot/detect APC than a squad of infantry legging it. Which can be a huge problem.
    Most reasonable approach would be to ferry trops over long distances in apc, but dismonth them fair distance away from target and allow infantry to push, calling over apc for support as they identify points of resistance and make sure apc is not under immidiate threat in that area.
    Rushing right into the point balls deep in apc is an easy recipe to get your squad wiped.

    I think using APCs and IFVs is definatly good for getting into combat zones and when your troops are under fire however at the start of the match pretty much everyone opts for a logi because they are much faster and get troops quickly to a FOB location and allows them to quickly meet the other time. Seeing as logis are faster than APCs and IFVs its somewhat useless at the start of the game by having a whole squad or two riding in an IFV or APC while the enemy time already has troops closer to your cap zones because thye just rode in the logi thus giving them an advantage.

    This is my go to tactic now and unless the other team was smart and placed a good TOW position there's nothing they can do to stop us in the early game. When the tanks come in it makes it a bit more difficult but still effective.

      Good shit dude! Speed is key in Squad, so just by simply getting infantry to their destination sooner, you can obliterate enemy teams.

  • @Assmagnus

    The Btr80 has a 14.5mm machine gun. Head to head not good vs a Stryker due to lack of stabilisation. If you get the drop, the BTR slaps.

    Having some military background this nearly complete uselessness of APCs and IFVs as infantry support vehicles is what bugs me most in squad. Most armour players only ever just drive around randomly, hunting for enemy vehicles. However, they are infantry support vehicles and should be used as such: transport the inf squads to the target, suppress enemy ingress routes and strong points while the inf squad takes a point or clears buildings, these are things they should primarily do. Irl a mechanized infsntery squad would never assault a point without having close fire support from their APC/IFV

    10:23 BTR-80 isn't equipped with 50-cal machinegun, The caliber is larger: 14,5mm but not 12,7mm. Thus it's bullet is 50% heavier then 50-cal one.

    • @Gorlami14

      Yeah that was an oversight on my part that I missed. It acts more or less like a .50 cal and overall is quite poor in any solo battle vs another APC.

    ESPECIALLY the Stryker APC. It's not an IFV. It can't fight IFVs. It can barely stand up to a 30mm btr. It's a big, fat, fast troop transport with a very useful 50cal.

  • @asciiCAT

    APCs don't work with inf. I have seen an entire cap point loss(and then the rest of the game) due to a SINGULAR btr, and our LAVs didn't want to help out literally the entire tram trying to spawn on the only hab

    The idea of using one Vic to push another downed one is actually a real tactic we use if we’re taking contact (I drive JLTVs irl) however idk how well it works with APC or IFVs. It probably is just as viable though I’d need to talk with some guy from LAR first to confirm. I do know it takes about 20 people and someone turning the propeller in the back to push the fucking thing. I had to do that on ship and it was shitty as hell.

    The reason apcs dont transport infantry is the infantry doesn't ask. Ask and 80% of APCs (not neccesarily IFVs) will get you a lift at great risk to themselves.

    • @Gorlami14
      @Gorlami14  3 года назад +1

      Then don't give them the opportunity to ask. In the video, I couldn't get people to get in our vic and wanted to just run to the point, so I went around to them and told them to "get in, and I'll take you to the point." Every single person minus 1 that I said that to, got into our vic.
      If you're an experienced player and you know where inserting troops can be beneficial, take the initiative. If you just say "Squad 1, do you want a pickup?" They're likely to say no or not respond at all. If you instead say "Squad 1, get in our Stryker and we'll drop you off behind the enemy HAB so you can take it out." Well now you've appealed to their desire to be in the action and doing things, so they're much more likely to agree to getting a ride.
