    "This is it.We´re fucked"
    I asked if we want to fight or get the fuck out of there. He responded, we are the only thing holding them off to flank our team and that we need to fight. He takes out the first one and we only have half of our HP left.

      If you need to hop into a crew, don't worry too much about your skill level. If you are low skilled, tell your crew commander, he will likely put you in the driver seat. In this position just listen to him, if he is a good cc he will give clear commands which really don't require any knowledge of armour to execute.

    One thing i find is unfair to the Abrams is the loud engine in a lot of games, when in reality the turbine engine of the Abrams isn't that loud, especially compare to other diesel engines of other tanks. Sure in up close situation it might sound loud but every tank is loud up close. From far away Abrams definitely not as loud as other especially from the front, not to mentioned the loudest.

    • @possiblyadickhead6653
      @possiblyadickhead6653 4 года назад +15

      the game is not realistic at all tho with tanks. Like most of those shots if they penetrate would mean that crew members would be heavily injured or dead. Also if for instance most of "LAT" would be able to kill tanks from the side (even in one shot).

    • @RiktigaFimpen

      Yup. That's why it got the nickname of "Whispering Death". IIRC its rubber tracks also made it less noisy.

    • @clankplusm
      @clankplusm 4 года назад +3

      @@RiktigaFimpen last I checked an Abrams tracks aren't made of rubber, unless you mean the ground contacts which is widespread and common, though not where most engine noise comes from. The noise of an Abrams engine is NOT quiet. It is "quiet" for a TANK. This is still a sixty-fucking-ton war machine. It's not quiet. Tanks are audible in this game at a drastically reduced range than what you could hear them at IRL across the board, and the Abrams is no exception where it is audible from half the realistic range of most tanks alongside everything else. It is also just as audible as everything else in Theis game, the difference is the noise it makes is much more distinct, many a time have I confused Russian vehicles from each other at significant range, very rarely if ever have I confused an Abrams for a Bradley or Helo at the same distances. It is not any kind of unhistorical inaccuracy (tell that to the BMP-1's gun firing rounds multiple times as fast as irl.), It is simply nature of the sound it makes.

    • @RiktigaFimpen
      @RiktigaFimpen 4 года назад +2

      @@clankplusm To be particularly precise yes, the Abrams has steel tracks but it's the rubber pads that make contact with the ground as you say - hence the reference to the "quiter" sound the of the tracks, nothing about the engine noise. The Abrams is damn loud, but maybe less so than other vehicles on the battlefield. Squad has definitely got the distinct sound right. The accounts I've read/heard are from people who was either on the receiving end of, or, worked alongside the Abrams. Is it all true? I don't know, but things usually earn their nickname for a reason. I think the issue here is that the engine of the Abrams, generally speaking, is made up to be the loudest one in games. But, these are sounds made for a game that has to be tweaked and made right compared to each other - so what the hell do I know. It would however be awesome to see (hear) a real comparison between the Abrams and the T-80s engine. I'd pay for that !

    • @StuieStorm05
      @StuieStorm05 4 года назад +16

      Some clarifications on the noise generated by the engine, the Abrams has a higher decibel reading (By like 2) at the source. However the noise is higher frequency, and without getting into the science that I don't understand, because of this, the sound dissipates at shorter range.

    Nice video. Practice makes perfect. Drivers don’t drive a tank into urban combat without “proper” inf support. You’ll be killed with little effort. As a veteran squad tanker (since v12). I’ve killed and been killed many times. Also. If you’re vehicle gets to 50 hp or below, RTB. A dead tank is a useless tank. The longer you stay alive the better. Map control is key. When gunning, every shot counts. If a enemy tank is on the move, you need to immobilize the first. What this does is: It cripples the tank from being able to maneuver. Next shots should be kill shots. If you’re engaging from the front go for the gun mantlet / breech. At first it can be a difficult shot to make but you’ll do some pretty good damage. Flank and spank is always good but make sure your shots count. I don’t agree always having the SL gun. Reason being: not everyone can gun. I’d rather have the SL drive or command. Now if the SL is the best gunner available, go ahead. If you’re on the MG, keep your rear and sides clear from AT - especially HATs.
    Btw if you ever wanna tank you can find me on FaT community Its_Jordan. Great video

    • @StuieStorm05
      @StuieStorm05 4 года назад +1

      if oyu have a 3 man crew having the SL on the gun is always a last resort, even if he is the best gunner, only if he is the ONLY half decent gunner. Controlling the gun, running comms and commanding the vehicle and potentially a wingman is frankly not possible. You may think you are doing well, but you are letting something slip through, usually directing the driver.

    • @BobbyUnverzagt
      @BobbyUnverzagt 4 года назад +1

      "A dead tank is a useless tank" this is underappreciated by most squadies. Tanks have a long cooldown which makes a dead tank a huge handicap for the next 20 minutes of the game. They also cost 15 tickets which can be significant. While RTB can seem wasteful and boring, it is way better for your team in the long run because it will only take a few minutes and costs zero tickets.

      This reminds of of a game I had as a HAT on Fallujah. At the start of the match my squad set up on the MSR in ambush and took out a LAV, Tracked IFV and a wheeled APC all because they had no infantry running support or commanders paying attention to their surroundings. Later on in said match me an the HAT of another squad + 2 LAT's snuck up on a leopard and wasted it with minimal effort as it was all on its own, first shot tracked it then we just flanked from all directions and it didn't stand a chance.

    Excellent video as usual, pretty much hit all the talking points.
    A couple of things not discussed is the tactics and minutia of each role that each crewman has to do and what they're not suppose to do. I've seen even more times I can count where an ill-crewed tank rolls off main only to die just as easy as it spawned.
    I've also seen a lot of times playing where an adequate crew do well or be lucky, then just as well be unlucky and die where actual military procedures could've saved them. Not all are applicable or needed but they were paid in blood for a reason.

    2 extremely important beginner skills are needed to learn RPG is ranging distance then knowing the markers on the RPG for different distances.
    Step 1: Go to Jenson's range and put a tank at 100m. Use the height of the main cannon and ground as reference for a common man's height. Anytime you see a tank, you have a reference point for ranging at 100m. Match that reference point to something in your RPG's reticle. It usually has a distance for 2 common man's height or 1. Half of that reference is 50 meters. Double that reference is 200 meters, so on and so forth. Once you have the range go to step 2
    Step 2: Set the range of the RPG at 100m and shoot your rpg at pinpoint targets at 100, 75, 50, 25 meters. Keep in mind which markers on your reticle will hit those targets accurately. Since you already know the range of the target, just use the markers you just learned. Each RPG is different on those markers, tandem and high explosive rockets can vary on those markers. Test each RPG and take note of the markers
    Congratulations, you have now learned how to range using reticle reference distances. This this a starting off point into RPGs and also snipers

    I don't know if this goes for modern times, but for the Tiger you'd set up your sights aimed at the bottom of the vehicle and then instead of sighting for the exact range, you'd go higher. That way you have better visibility.

    FYI HESH is not a frag round in game. It is a direct copy of the HEAT used on the Abrams (according to SDK).Heat can be used anti infantry, but frag is much better.

    • @MoiDawg
      @MoiDawg  4 года назад

      Yeah, HESH is a bit weird. Although it may be a direct copy from HEAT it definitely FEELS like it works a lot better than it against infantry. In the real world it's also effective against buildings so it makes sense.
      I typically use it for room clearing and stuff like logis if they're a bit too far for coax. Downside is is that it travels REALLY slowly compared to AP.

    • @bluntcabbage6042
      @bluntcabbage6042 4 года назад +1

      @@MoiDawg There's a good reason why the HESH shell is slower!
      HESH stands for High Explosive Squash Head. The "squash" part is basically how the shell is malleable: it will deform and flatten itself onto a target (i.e a tank with sloped armor). When it flattens itself out, it detonates. This brings the full brunt of the shell's explosive power down on the surface (a normal HE shell would send its explosive power everywhere around it, when the explosive is flattened against the surface, more of the boom goes into the surface than away from it). This allowed HESH to basically negate sloped armor and cause a shockwave that would cause the interior armor to fragment into the crew compartment.
      Why does that have anything to do with HESH traveling slowly? Well, the faster the round goes, the less condensed the flattened out explosive will be (the flattened out explosive is called a "pat"). The pat will be tighter together if the shell doesn't impact with as high of a velocity, so the effect will be greater.
      Sorry for the long post, just thought I'd explain why HESH travels slowly.

    Should also probably mention the position of the ammo racks in each tank as I think it's one of the biggest downsides of the T-72 (its ammo rack seems to be in the front of the hull). I have practically one shot T-72s by hitting their ammo rack in the front.

    • @bluntcabbage6042

      The T-72 uses a carousel-type autoloader. This means the ammo is stored in a giant circle/ring around the turret basket. The ammo rack is basically center-mass beneath the turret.

    Would you recommend using one squad for one tnak?
    I guess so because one of your suggestions was making other crew members of the same tank fire team leaders (hope I am using the right term, some people seem to get agitated when I don't).
    I was thinking about pros for having crews of several vehicles in one squad, like better communication maybe, but like I said, I am very new to the game :D

    • @Schimml0rd
      @Schimml0rd 4 года назад

      It literally only has downsides, as the crewmembers wouldn't know which driver is referred to or which tank the heading is given from. Just let the 2 commanders talk to each other and the crews focus on their own situation.
      As for assigning fire teams: pretty clever, so crewmen can designate targets on the map too

    Im not sure why you say that the leo struggles against the t72. Leo bounces everything hull down. Long range, so long as youre competent with the ranging its extremely potent, you just have to play defensively. Wolf pack, tank carrousel esq tactics work best. 4 tank kill, 30 player kill games are pretty easy with a competent crew and good comms

    • @MoiDawg
      @MoiDawg  4 года назад +5

      Two things: first is that if you're traveling in different directions or following a winding road and not paying attention (ie having your map open and talking on command), the turret will stay stabilized to the direction your were looking, which may no longer be in front of the tank. This can make you slow to react since the majority of the contact is from the front.
      Secondly: it's loud and gets annoying after awhile.
      If we're going to be traveling for a couple minutes I usually turn it off so I don't hear the stabilizing and the turret stays facing forward.

    How did you get the leopard for a test drive?
    And I think I know why the missile does more damage. The so-called composite armor is built into the front of modern vehicles. With layers of ceramic, rubber and steel. The ceramic layer retains heat and the rocket is nothing more than heat. Heat, as you know, has a jet of hot metal unlike an AP grenade which is made of metal only. And hot metal, as you know, hurts more than a normal darts / AP grenade.
