yeah thanks, Lots of memories for me. I first started as a young Sailor here during 'The War' in the 70's, then fast forwarding, by 1984 on our way back to Aust I jumped off my Ship, returning from the Middle East and the USN Task Group, in Singapore, where my Thai GF had journeyed down to meet me and we trained it back to Bangkok. Another story. Pity you have no videos of Phuket, Samet and Samui etc. from this time. Although there the wasn't much to film down there then, apart from the once unspoilt, beautiful, natural landscape, and people. We talked about marrying at this time in 1984 (whilst on the beach at Koh Samet). Which eventually came to fruition after my return to Aust and the Navy decided I had been at sea too long and they wanted to post me ashore to both teach and look after the Officers. Not my go. That ended my relationship with the Navy. I got out. Finished up in our own Thai Restaurant business in Melbourne. Eventually I left that behind and legged it back to Thailand, where I am today. Haven't been to Pattaya in over a decade. Don't miss it one bit today. Everything changes. It will not surprise me if/when Pattaya will be a prime target in 'The Great Reset'.
@@THAILAND1881 Ok thanks, I'll keep a look out for it. One thing a lot of people will not realise is that Pattaya, decades ago, was just a weekend getaway for most. Taking that treacherous road we would race of down to Pattaya for a weekend, such as with the the boss and boys from the Grand Prix Bar and visiting Ex USMC Vietnam Vet, BJ, at his bar 'BJs" (Soi named after him) drinking shots and taking turns at BJs Snuff Gun! What a hoot! The Aust embassy BKK used Pattaya as a short getaway from the capital, rostering personnel with Montien Hotel Accomodation reserved for staff - with Embassy Car and Driver. Soi Cowboy was a low class slum place that few people, apart from offshore workers, ever visited. I lived within walking distance of it but never went there. Takes me back, First year that I visited Thailand Feb/Mar 84 was working in Oman at the time. Had a few days in Patong & then a few days in Pattaya. Both a world away from what you can see now.
1984. In South Korea wish I knew about Thailand then but I was so broke in the 1st year of the army. I wouldn’t even been able to take a flight. But there could have been military flights back then I could have come for free. Should of could of but didn’t
Wow! Totally different city! But in 1984, I was 11 y.o. 😁 First time in Pattaya had to be 2004... Still a amazing and interesting video! Thanks for posting 👍
First went there in 1980 and stayed at the Palm Villa hotel, now alas long gone. So much fun due to the excesses of youth. I'm still in Thailand but avoid Pattaya, even without covid, because it's become a concrete jungle. Nothing in life remains the same -- move on to other destinations. Does anyone remember "Nice With Ice"?
1980's to 2020's, send me back tho I'm a millennial. Been hopping borders the last 7 years, looks a lot more relaxed compared to the chaos these days. 🥂
This is almost the same time gap between being filmed and my 1st visit, and my 1st visit and now, yet its like some old bygone age movie. Great footage.

"It's the Kings B-day," everything close" I kept hearing ("but what you looking for" - lol) .. Me & GF in Hot Pants, standing at the Marble Temple, In front of the Crowd - lining a Red Carpet, waiting for the King, sweltering in the heat .. Great Pic with my 35MM.. Zooming, Digitally (yrs later), at the crowd's faces.. they were staring at the Farang (me) and Thai in extreme Hot Pants "with utter Anger & Contempt" on faces (wow) .. Little did I know (what a picture)..
What a wonderful story at that time. Thank you for watching my channel and for your comment. I wish you a happy life✋🌷
3:28 Lam Morrison at the Saloon Bar banner. Great days!
Loved visiting this city last year, this was filmed 10 years before I was even born, would be amazing to experience pattaya in the 80s and 90s 😌 I imagine the lack of smart phones would of added to the intensity of feeling like being in a totally different world, thank you for sharing 🙏
I was there July 85. Wow what memories here 🙏🏻🍻
Beautiful days this year🌱
I was there December 1986. Best Time of my Life. I was 21 Years old. 👍

Beautiful years worth living in Thailand. I wish you a happy life✋🌷
Took my 1st breath in refugee Camp Ban Vinai in 1987, the Hmongs can never THANK the People's King enough for shepherding the Hmongs! You are dearly missed!
Wow
Wow so different. So clean!!

Fantastic...
смотрите как чисто на улицах! и никаких проводов! но потом что-то пошло не так...
This was a amazing time 1984 first trip to Thailand.
First stop Bangkok, Malaysia Hotel. Travelers meeting point.
Second stop: Koh Samui, Bamboo Cottages 1$/Night, Food 1$/Day, Mekong Whiskey 1$/Bottle.
Last stop Pattaya, rent big bike, fell in love with Moonlight 🤠

Brilliant
Baht buses have not changed it seems!!
Brilliant..must have been great back then..thanks for uploading
First things I notice: No one playing with a smartphone in his/her hands. Second: Not 7eleven and Tesco at every corner. Strange feeling.
really👍🌷
news flash----not just in this country. That phenomena is everywhere in the world
91 was my first visit to Pattaya, didn't go on my previous Thai holidays. It wasn't that much different in 91.
Bloody good fun.
I'd love to go back to better times nice video 😊👍🇦🇺
Its so much better these days (well in 2019) imo
In the future people will be nostalgic if they just went to Thailand before the pandemic

Fantastic! no internet, no FB, much more simpler times. Interesting to see the jet skis with outboard motors, now its Jets.
It was a great year before social media came along. And spoil the beautiful moment✋🌷
And NO jet ski scams, those came later, it was more FUN back then
Wow great!! 38year later no change
Anyone recognized the Lam Morrison ad? This guy played in Pattaya already in 1984. Last time I saw him maybe 4 years ago in the Hot Tuna bar. What is he doing now? Any info?
Takes me back, First year that I visited Thailand Feb/Mar 84 was working in Oman at the time. Had a few days in Patong & then a few days in Pattaya. Both a world away from what you can see now.
1984. In South Korea wish I knew about Thailand then but I was so broke in the 1st year of the army. I wouldn’t even been able to take a flight. But there could have been military flights back then I could have come for free. Should of could of but didn’t
Wow! Totally different city! But in 1984, I was 11 y.o. 😁
First time in Pattaya had to be 2004...
Still a amazing and interesting video! Thanks for posting 👍
Me too 2004! 😁
The first time I went was January '93. Thanks for this jewel.
@Karl Brown I much prefer Cha-Am now.
Nice with ice yes still.got a sticker for that place.Havent pulled the back of yet!
I stayed at Palm Villa a couple times aroung 1990/91 on 2nd Rd across from Soi Post Office.Great times at the Tina Turner ladyboy show. 555
The Women have always been beautiful there. Great video from a time when no one had smart phone or a camera on their phone 👍
Back when the girlfriend experience was more like the wife experience, with no cell phones, no tattoos, no spoiled princesses who want the simps to service her and her every whims, not the other way round.
See chocolate man in
Thailand. Sprung off a bar girl
No ATM's?
I was in Pattaya for the first time in 1984.
Unbelievable
It was a beautiful year 1984, stay well🌷✋
What's Kodak? lol Great video. Maybe by 2030, Elon Musk will invent a time machine.
If any can, Elon can.🙂👍🏻
Pretty much the same as I remember it in 1994
So nice to see. Whish I could have been there in those days ...
Wow, great video. No smart phones, internet or viruses.
It’s nothing to change very much since 1988 to 2021 only cars change and Thai lady goes to beauty clinic another the same in Pattaya
Chalet Swiss, at the start of Walking Street, best people watching bar ever ! Those were the days !
That was brilliant thanks 😎🙏🇹🇭
Thank you🌷
