Thanks for sharing your amazing movie. I'm very envious of you, having experienced Pattaya in 1990's. My first visit to the city was in 2011. I wasted so much time holidaying in Europe, should have been aware of brilliant LoS decades earlier.
Wow - this is fantastic! It's exactly, when I visited Ptt for the first time. ST 500 / LT 700. Stayed at Hotel Diana Inn. - And people were standing in a crowd in front of Beach-Road-shop-windows - watching Mr Bean! :-) And the MARINE-DISCO was still the old way - its ceiling was packed with moving disco-lights, and watching the light-beams through the cigarette-smoke was amazing! And every night they were playing Joan Jett: "I hate myself for loving you" - and all the girls were singing that line! :-)
1991 for me too, stayed in Jimmy Mac's, Soi Yodsak (Soi 6), although he drank in the Green Bottle next to the Diana Inn ! Great to see this old footage.
500 for ST? In 1993 the girls were going LT for 500 Baht, didn’t go higher for a few years. Great times, first time I stayed at The Porn Hotel on Soi Yamato. It was next door to what is now The Wonderful Bar.
Probably every single car you see in this video is still driving around somewhere in Thailand 30 years later. I see those kind of cars every day in Isan. Amazing.
I discovered Pattaya in 2016 and I was 24, visited it 5 times after that... loved it more everytime I was going there and I will never stop loving it. I hope my generation will be able to keep Pattaya such the beautiful place it was even 2 years ago. I also know you will all say that Pattaya in 2016 was already gone but I don't care, I love Pattaya the way it is.
@@vagabondvibes2578 Sour grapes that you missed out? There's no point writing sarcastic comments to people who went there long before you did. The truth of the matter is that it was far better 30+ years ago.
Those were the days. First time was in March 1990 and my life was never the same again afterwards. Stayed at the Royal Garden and then Dianna Inn (300 THB/ night with breakfast, which is now a condo complex). So relaxed in those days - bar fines of 100 baht and a friend for 500 baht/ night, but in those days it never felt mercenary. Those that were there will understand what i am talking about. Wish I had a time machine!.

Thanks. They just had floods around city area. I guest they had during this period as well. I think they should had created a big park from Beach Rd back you to main road. Yeah as they say old days great time much slower not a mobile in Sight, And getting the speedboats in and out the water pure work of art, with them tractors.Should have kept those slipways and put small walls on each side for the Rain to run down when flooding as we see today beach fucked every time it Rains and all ways in same spot. Not rocket science,Even today could have been done with fiberglass channels all along beach road
