I don't tend to shoot much on modern AF lenses to be honest, using cine glass with the LiDAR is a bit more useful for me. I've shot on a lot of cams professionally, I personally prefer what you can pull off the LUMIX cams over the competition - but yes for sure - with enough time and patience you can make any cam look like anything these days! Thanks for sharing this! Your 2 year review of the S5 was one of the reasons I got mine. It was a very happy and affordable change from canon DSLRS in spite of it's lacking features.
Yeah it's very much an image quality first camera even if it does lack other features like AF. The IBIS was pretty good when it released, but Panasonic have bettered it in their newer cams.
I guess the previous Lumix CEO saying that DFD has better image quality than phase detected AF, is true! DFD will not have pixels sacrificed for phase detected pixels. That maybe why they had insisted on DFD for so long.

I don't think you can get anything of this quality at this price range. It's telling that people are comparing it to offerings from Sony that cost 2-3 times more
I am still using first S5 ! even on a bigger productions, there was never any notes on the image quality. I even pair it with Alexa Mini as a Bcam or grip/action camera. It has so similiar color render after just few tweaks that i cant believe they were able to put it in a camera such cheap. Even tho Im thinking of adding S5IIX to the set, to keep one on ronin all the time and the other for hamdheld. Only wish the HDMI outputs had lower lagging.
Yeah honestly when I got this footage back into resolve I was really pleasantly surprised. We were lucky with some gorgeous late afternoon October sun which really helped things pop, but the sensor still delivers! And yes with very Arri like colours and roll off, not something that should be possible in a cam this small and cheap.
@@LeonGreg Are you sure its on S5 first generation as well? It would be actually a life saver, but even tho Ive updated to latest fw i do not see it in settings? So maybe you can help me out here a bit ? Thanks mate
Yeah, I mean this is a refresh of an old camera that I think people are still buying, so I guess they're just updating the spec on a camera they're still selling
I feel like some have always done this? Isn't Canon 1DC as one example. But with Sony alone they had the a7, a7s, and a7r (this was a decade ago. Then Panasonic had s1, S1H, and S1R. I mean I feel like all camera companies have a beginner model, amateur model, and pro model...no?
Great work as always Ed! If I’m shooting on sticks, which for me is events or interviews, the OG S5 every single time. No question. We’ve had this convo in the comments before: the S5 Mk1 just has a more pleasing image in a je ne sais quoi type of way, particularly on faces. But for everything else, it’s the (for me) S5iiX. I really love both, but they’re different. I actually sold my S1H because it’s too different if I’m shooting 2 cameras together. By the way, re: (non)announcements, there is a great video on the CameraRig YT channel called “Market Situation of Lumix”. It speculates about the market power of a small player like Lumix to encounter difficulties in getting a newer sensor to make the technological leap for the next flagship. Whether or not it’s all true, the video does reveal this rabbit hole of who makes sensors for who. Also reveals that S5, S5ii, S5iiX and S9, are all based on the fairly old Sony IMX-410 sensor, which they used in the old A73!!! …which just goes to show how much better than everyone else Lumix is at doing actual usability. Viva la S5 Mk1! If you know, know 😉Thanks Ed! 😊
Yes this sensor is everywhere! I think it first showed up in Sony cams circa 2017 and is in the new black magic cams... It's a great sensor just has awful read out speed... I think the last major sensor Panasonic developed was the one in their EVA1 and I'm sure it cost A LOT to develop and bring to market... I wish they'd stick that thing in a little compact APS-C camera!
Nice video dude, Lumix S5 is still a belter of a buy especially at £600 second hand! Crazy. I had the mk1 and then went Mk2 and now i have neither but maybe a mk1 would be good for the youtube!
@@IanSnape I love my S5 iix for RUclips as it has AF but I do thing I'll start bringing my S5 mark 1 more often onto multicam shoots, as after revisiting it I definitely prefer the image from the mark 2
What an interesting addition to the lumix line haha. I probably will make a move to an S5iix, in the 6 months(unless the S1Hii comes out lol). But for now the S5 is enough, it’s light, compact, and pleasing to shoot with. And the image that comes out of it is unreal. Another great one Ed! Happy to see more S5 love
I just bought an original S5 last month (650 shutter activations Mint £700) ostensibly for Landscape photography I have a GH5s and a GH5ii for video (they each have a Ninja V buddy!) and X-pro 3 and XT3 for Street/Portrait photography. I considered a GFX 50r or sii for landscape photography but thought better of it 😳
My main production camera is an fx6 but still rocking my S5 mki. I tried the mkii but like you I found the image out of the mki better so I skipped the upgrade.
Yeah from an image perspective the mark 1 still slaps! It's just the mark 2's are much easier to use, so they often get brought out on more gigs - as the smaller cam is usually a run and gun cam or gimbal cam.
It has been in a fair few cams - S1, S1H, S1R, S5, BS1H... Also in the new Black magic cams... but I think the market unanimously wants AF at this end of the market, hence the shift towards it
Dude your colors are always so good. Have you considered selling your LUTs?? I would happily pay for them (especially if you made a version for stills too)
yeah I missed the crazy sell off of S1h's from Wex, kinda wished I'd picked one up! Always wanted to own one - I went down the EVA1 route when it first came out.
@@EdProsser aha you and me both ed, 900quid was a nice deal. I use the S5 og as my main photo camera right now, been trying to eye an upgrade... the s5iix didn't feel that much better for photo stuff. Love lumix but I just wish they'd be a bit more coherent sometimes.
My first gen S5 is arriving today from MPB, after watching your videos on it ha. Managed to get it for £509, which to me seems a crazy price for everything it offers. Do you still use the Lumix 50mm f1.8 by the way? Considering getting that as they're sub £200 used and it looked like a great lens.
That is a crazy price! Well done. Yes still use the 50mm, I also own the 18mm. I use both for my RUclips talking head shots. 50mm for interview talking heads a lot as well. I will likely pick up the 35 soon I thinm
Hi Ed, is your DZO 35mm an ef mount with the sigma mc21 adapter to mount to the of s5? The images do look really good man, keep up the good work. Hope it was cool to shoot a manual cine lens with Lidar auto focus. Take care.
I guess I just see the S5D as a refresh of the original S5 - a camera they're still selling btw - but yes, I know people would rather have seen a new flagship!
@@realmuzikstudiostv I don't think people will be upgrading from S5 to S5D either - it's just a refresh of the existing S5 - not meant as an upgrade for existing users. It's their cheapest FF camera.
@@EdProsser It's funny - when Sony release cameras like the A7C etc, no-one moans. But when Lumix update a camera and give it more features and a lower cost, people find something to moan about. Crazy!
Tell me if you know. Is the HDMI output delay for the S5M1 (and probably the S5D) the same as for the S5M2? Or is it less? And secondly, won't the S5D have any kind of open gate mode? Thanks
The S5D will essentially behave exactly the same as the S5 mark 1. So no open gate. I can't quite remember the difference in HDMI delay lag between the mark 1 or 2 off the top of my head, I would guess it's similar, if not the same.
Yeah I don't know - would have been great, even to have had it as a paid upgrade. Regardless I'd forgotten how much I love the image from my original S5, it still looks gorgeous !
Yeah I don't know! I guess maybe something had to change at the hardware level - add more memory or something. They've continued to sell the S5 mark 1 so I guess they're just refreshing those units... Or they just want a last marketing push to shift the final units, but it'd have been nice to at least have offered this as a paid upgrade for existing S5 users.
@@OscarCloud Yeah I've seen them occasionally go for £500 on eBay, if you just want amazing image quality and a small form factor it's a great option. I'm probably gonna bring back my Mark 1 more often as a b-cam on static 2 cam interviews.
You think the S5II has a worse looking image? Interesting. I've not shot on the mk II myself, but the S5 is my B cam to the BMCC6K and have felt no need for more. You can get the s5 used for £600, which is very hard to argue with. So does this mean with the S5D, you wouldn't need the lidar module at all, you can just use the focus motor and the camera's built in focus detection? That's a really cool feature.
No you need the LiDAR as that's what will drive the focus system in the camera. You just don't need the focus motor if you're using electronic lenses as the camera will drive the lens focus. The S5 mark 2 still looks great, I'd just say the mark 1 has an edge in image quality. They all share the same sensor anyway - same as in the BMCC6K.
@@EdProsser S5II has some banding issues which the S5 doesn't have. On top the oversharpening and too much NR are an issue as well although can be combat in post. S5II is great with external BRAW though, tons of texture, great DR and no banding either. Just wish BRAW was available in 6K Open Gate 3:2 like on the GH6, GH7 and G9II.
@@DiodeFilms I guess never really thought about it running in reverse, but I guess you'd need the better PDAF system in the mark 2s to do something like that.m, if it could be done at all... But that'd be a cool next gen feature if the camera could drive a focus motor and give manual lenses AF function without a LiDAR....
I'm not suggesting you're wrong - but I haven't heard anything about why or how the original S5 would have superior image quality over the S5 II in V-log? - Other than "processing", is there actually a tangible reason that it would? (I don't really keep up with this stuff so I'm happy to be told why... I'm genuinely asking, not trying to hate.) I can't think that anyone who would care about these details would NOT shoot in V-log.
The S5 ii is just sharper / noisier and generally has a more processed looking image, it's worse in other picture profiles but still present in V-log. As to why it's like this some people have suggested it's due to the addition of a PDAF array on the sensor. There are reports that Panasonic themselves have said they held off adding PDAF as it would reduce image quality. I'm not an engineer so I can't confirm the "why" but I can report as a user I noticed the difference when I moved to shooting to the mark 2 from the mark 1. The footage from the mark 2s esp at the higher base ISO shows more noise like for like. Most of these changes can be managed somewhat in post... but it's there.
I really hope they will give us a body only version or like with the S9 offer many different bundle discounts with prime lenses because I have no use for the 18-40
I do not understand why they did not just make this a firmware update in the original S5. I think they knew it would cannibalise sales of the newer models. I hope some techies can put out a mod or something, I wish the camera market had the same kind of nerds the gaming industry has.
My understanding is there were hardware limitations, potentially memory speed or USB port speed. To be fair to Pana they're usually pretty good with providing paid updates for new features. It's a niche feature, but it does solve the issue with the AF on the older models and given that they still have great image Q it can extend their shelf life.
The S1 and S5 are very similar, colors are a bit different, only CineV and D are very different (this is the version 2 on the S5). The S1H has the same colors than the S1 but with an OLPF making the image a bit softer and removing moiré. Only the S1 and S1H have Open Gate. These cameras have nicer video quality than the S5II, they have more details, less chroma noise reduction and less crunchy sharpening. Of course the S5II has better IBIS and has PDAF. Between all these cameras, I prefer the S1 because moiré is not a real issue for me, and the image quality is excellent, I really like the Open Gate mode.
The S5 and S1H are fairly comparable in v-log but the S5 appears much sharper and as mentioned can suffer from moire. Although I've rarely noticed it. The S5 mark 2s have an even sharper / noiser image imo, less pleasing than the S1H and S5 mark 1. But these are fairly subtle differences, across the board they all have what I would consider great image quality.
I just brought the Lumix OG S5, camera, but not getting the same output as you explained. Can you share the camera settings file. so I can reuse the same in my camera? Or any link where I can do the correct setup.
nice - what are you looking to replicate? The image? I just shoot in v-log - and then grade the images in Davinci resolve. Everything else is kinda just lighting and exposure.

What recorder do you recommend for the braw in the s5?
Coming from an S5 user this is a very confusing and sad move from Lumix. I mean what, did they just have a bunch of extra S5 sensors they needed to offload? If this is the same hardware I dont see any reason it couldn't have been a paid upgrade at the very least, imo it should have been free. I know the rumor mill is abuzz for the S2H and S2R. Considering they arent even selling their flagship photo camera, the S1R, anymore you'd think they'd get their new s1 lineup out the door quicker than the, 6?, years its been since the S1H release. The footage does look great Ed, what filtration are you using? Do you ever have IR pollution issues with that variable ND or are you using an IR cut filter as well?
@@aaronthecameraguy first time I've tested this VND it's the NiSi swift one, maybe true colour? I'm guessing they had to tweak some hardware to accommodate the new updates and that's why we're not seeing it given to the existing S5s usually LUMIX are pretty good at that kinda stuff. Pretty much all the other cameras have t The LiDAR uodate, but the S5 mark 1 has one of the smaller bodies. Perhaps it needed more memory or something. They're still selling the S5, it was never discontinued with the mark 2s so I guess they're just refreshing it and then continting to sell it but with an updated spec.
From what I gather it's the same - coming down from the S5 m2 I did notice a bit of a difference, forgot to mention that in the vid - but I mostly monitored using the backscreen which was fine

Huh, I didn't know they're still selling new S5's, maybe this release was meant to remind people of that. Maybe it's worth it for people specifically looking for a new camera, but on the used market the S1 is a better camera in this price bracket imo.
Yeah there's some choice between these older bodies - the S1 is a larger camera of course and takes the older batteries, I can't remember how the recording codecs compare between the S1 and S5. But yes the original S5 has continued to sell - I was pleasantly surprised when I took my Mark 1 out on Friday as had forgotten how great the image from it is.
@@EdProsser it has the most of what S1H has except for All-I and record limits in 5.9/6K. I'd take it over S5 because of unlimited 10-bit (not really a necessity but it's nice to not think about it) and full-size HDMI. Though for some flippy screen and smaller size might be more important.
From a pure video / image quality perspective the original S5 has always had the edge over the mark 2s, but the quality of life improvements that came with the mark 2s (IBIS, AF, OG) sorta make them more practical use...
@@owenjenkinsofficial I doubt it - the sensor readout speed is at the sensor level and this is the same sensor as the mark 2's. It's also in the recent blackmagic 6k cinema camera and PYXIS (and in a bunch of other cameras).

Sorry to ask - but could you tell me (or make a short video :) ) as to why the BRAW implementation on the OG S5 isn't as good as the S5km2? Is it also not as good as the S1H? I am filmmaker myself so I can write, I can come up with something and you guys shoot and we see.
This is one of the weirdest cameras I have seen in a while and the only reason I can think as to why this released was they had a bunch of S5 bodies sitting around.
Yes they still make and sell the S5 mark 1, it's Panasonic's cheapest FF camera (cheapest of any brand) - so it's just a simple refresh, not like they made a new camera from the ground up - but refreshed an existing camera.
@@EdProsser I personally find it really lazy especially when the S5ii can be had for extremely low prices nowadays. Lumix is taking way too long on getting their next FF flagship out. This just feels like a cheap distraction.
@@GrainOnTheGo I think that's a weird take, but that's your opinion. My opinion... they're continuing to sell a camera they've always sold... but now it has an extra feature, so they just slapped a D on it to distinguish it. I don't think it's really taken any resource away from developing a flagship, it'll come when it comes.
@@GrainOnTheGo personally - I think it probably makes sense for LUMIX to wait until Sony plays its hand in its next release. The original S1h was overshadowed by a lot of the Sony fanfare around the FX6 and FX3 - so holding it back until Sony announce theirs is probably a strategy they're pursuing - if Sony announces something and then they can better it and launch it slightly after - it'll take away a lot of their thunder But... I guess Sony has the power to take its time now, because it's had a very successful run with the FX3 / 6 / 9
It's strange, but I do think a lot of the newer cameras are actually getting worse when it comes to straight image quality. And I think the Panasonic S1H, S1, and S5 is a perfect example of this when compared to the S5II. I noticed the drop in IQ with Fuji as well. Now, maybe controversial, but I really think it might be PDAF. We all begged for it and Panasonic said over and over again that they would stick with contrast based AF because of image degradation... and it is also when PDAF came to Fuji when Fuji's IQ became less organic and filmic. And Sony has the worst IQ of all and they have been pumping it for years. Maybe it's Canon's Dual Pixel that gives their C70/C80/C300/etc cameras such a nicer image than the FX3/FX6/FX9 cams. Possibly...
Yeah this is what I understand, the addition to the sensor and the image processing to mitigate it impacts overall IQ. The Mark 2s still look great (my piece to camera is shot on the Mark 2) but head to head you can see differences
@@EdProsser Yea, the difference probably isn't big enough for 90% of use cases (especially on RUclips), but I'd still choose an S1H to shoot professional work than anything from the past 3-years.
@@CurrenSheldon me too, but I originally opted for the EVA1 back in 2019, and then got an S5 as my b cam. Have since moved up to the Komodo for my A-cam but still use the S5 MK2 as a b cam
nothing to do with PDAF. Shoot external BRAW and you'd get a many times better image with PDAF working as well. The culprit is the internal processing that changed with the introduction of Real Time Lut and badly affected video quality.
Hmm I've always heard it was the inclusion of PDAF that was the culprit and the reason the S5 iix differs from mark 1. Never heard anything about real time LUT affecting image quality?
Why couldn't this be a firmware update for the original S5? They added the DJI lidar AF compatibility to the S1H last year with a simple firmware update. And the S9 would have got a lot less slack if it had no record limits and launched with the 18-40 lens, which would have been a very viable competitor to the ZVE1 (which it is now). Panasonic are super weird with their product decisions. Lumix Lab support to other cameras is really nice though. Would've also liked to have 32 bit float audio recording with the XLR2 on all the other cameras that now support it.
Honestly I don't know, only thing i can think of is that it had some sort of hardware limitations that they needed to tweak, perhaps upgrading the size / speed of its memory or storage to accommodate it. The S5 is one of the smallest camera bodies in the full frame line up.
The S5II had disappointing IQ, I mostly reverted to using the S5. The S5D looks like an S5 with a D on the front and an unpublished firmware update. I wouldn’t pay any extra for it over a standard S5.
@@raizt1596 image processing changed in the mark 2s, consensus is adding the PDAF array or something else required a new image processing pipe line which meant a sharper / noiser image, there seems to be a bit more noise reduction going on behind the scenes too...
I dont understand, the dji lidar focus can work with any camera, it doesnt need to communicate with the camera body, so whats the big deal? if it could power and control the DJI lidar without accesories it would make sence and be cool but this is just bullshit cause it doesnt make much sense to buy this for AF lenses
It means it can drive the internal AF system. So you just use the LiDAR module and then when you connect electronic lenses the LiDAR communicates with the camera to drive the lenses. No external focus motor needed. This can't be done on any camera.
@@EdProsser and you believe that to be true when viewing on a tv or device rather than a theater? Do you have any videos comparing or showing this difference?
Absolutely, I know it. The sensors are tiny on the iPhone and Osmo. The IO almost non-existent. You need to remember using a camera is more than just the image quality that comes out of it. It's the IO, the flexibility to use it in different situations, being able to handle long days, take a beating on set and handle different shooting scenarios. Of course you can squeeze nice images out of those devices but they often do not meet the intense demands and requirements of a lot of productions. If you have the patience and resources you can of course dress anything up and I'm sure there will be a moment of equivalence between smaller form factor cams and larger cine cams but we're not quite there yet. Also, it's on you to convince me otherwise, I'm fine with how I shoot, I'm not looking to change your mind if you think otherwise
@@EdProsser I know :) I was curious your take no minds need changing. I was under the impression most viewers of these videos were casual hobbyists shooting family, friends, and vacation not on productions.
Oh of my own RUclips content? Sorry misunderstood. Yeah I often shoot my talking head on my Osmo, it definitely doesn't look as nice and often just clips too easy and has ruined shots before ... But if I want to be quick I'm happy sacrificing some quality and shooting on my Osmo. It all depends on the look you want and how much dynamic range you're pushing in the scene I think. I just wouldn't do that for my client work going onto RUclips.
The original S5 is still for sale, so I guess they're just refreshing that model and continuing to sell it - regardless the image still slaps on my S5 OG.
Well, between adding an PDAF or accessibility to use a not cheap DJI Lidar (obviously, cause DFD $uck on video) - Panasonic chose the second one and bring us a really "refresh" version of S5. Great, thnx and really appreciate 🙌 this is so confusing, I really don't understand this strategy. 😢
I wouldn't see it as a big thing! Just a tweaking of an existing camera they're already selling and they just let us know this is happening yesterday. Yea we could argue they could have done more, but I'm guessing the update was a simple tweak and they're prioritising the new flagships.
I guess just updating the community, I see that as a good thing. But yeah I get lots of people are hyped up for a flagship and will see any news / announcement info from Panasonic as a potential new camera announcement, then be disappointed when that doesn't happen. I think lots of rumour / leak websites whipped up the hype so people were expecting something more than we got.
Why 😂 - it's just a camera refresh - what's so crazy about that! Most of the announcement was on the zoom lens and firmware updates, positive action from a company supporting existing products. I just decided to make a video to celebrate the S5 and remind people it still looks great!
@@EdProsser I mean, if they wanted to move units they could’ve just sold off old S5 stock at a steep discount. These will just sit again. The D is a firmware update. If you don't like the camera don't buy it! The S9 has sold pretty well from what I gather and with the new firmware updates it's a pretty powerful little thing. Don't see the harm in making the S5 more future proof with the update, I guess it involves hardware too to accommodate the update. Makes sense from a business perspective. It's a cheaper 4 year old camera, they have autofocus cameras already available at a higher price. For people who don't need it, it's probably THE cheapest FF camera from any brand that you can pick up. Probably need to consider this and the context around pricing. Not everyone needs AF some people just want a great looking image and this camera definitely delivers that. Those who need FF AF... Go for the mark 2. Also factor in the increased inflation that's happened over the last 4 years, the S5 has never been cheaper in real money terms.

And yes with very Arri like colours and roll off, not something that should be possible in a cam this small and cheap.
Pana now allows you to select only 1080p output, and it greatly reduced output lag time, it's much better

I feel like camera companies are becoming like cell phone companies now releasing Pro, Max, Pro Max of the same cameras lol

What an interesting addition to the lumix line haha. I probably will make a move to an S5iix, in the 6 months(unless the S1Hii comes out lol).

I will try include this in my DJI focus pro review video
My main production camera is an fx6 but still rocking my S5 mki. I tried the mkii but like you I found the image out of the mki better so I skipped the upgrade.
Yeah from an image perspective the mark 1 still slaps! It's just the mark 2's are much easier to use, so they often get brought out on more gigs - as the smaller cam is usually a run and gun cam or gimbal cam.
I wish to see an update like this for the Panasonic GH5S ☝🏽😍
that would be cool!
Lumix should further develop these no-pdaf sensors. Will be niche enthusiast camera for video and stills.
It has been in a fair few cams - S1, S1H, S1R, S5, BS1H... Also in the new Black magic cams... but I think the market unanimously wants AF at this end of the market, hence the shift towards it
Dude your colors are always so good. Have you considered selling your LUTs?? I would happily pay for them (especially if you made a version for stills too)
I am working on LUT / powergrade that will go on sale
if they want to rerelease cameras they should just put out an S1H out with cFast express b. that would be v cool, S9 unlimited recording is nice.

That is a crazy price! Well done. Yes still use the 50mm, I also own the 18mm. I use both for my RUclips talking head shots. 50mm for interview talking heads a lot as well.

If Blackmagic could integrate this for continuous af on AF lenses… it would be a formidable combo.
You can get a og s5 for 1000 where i live so its very good value for the money and with the d upgrade its even better.
Does the Lidar work without the use of follow focus gear with the S lenses? Meaning that it can use the autofocus with the Lidar?
With the new LUMIX S5D - yes that's what the new version will allow you to do

Tell me if you know. Is the HDMI output delay for the S5M1 (and probably the S5D) the same as for the S5M2? Or is it less? And secondly, won't the S5D have any kind of open gate mode? Thanks
The S5D will essentially behave exactly the same as the S5 mark 1. So no open gate. I can't quite remember the difference in HDMI delay lag between the mark 1 or 2 off the top of my head, I would guess it's similar, if not the same.
Surely could have been done through firmware for the original S5. Very non Lumix move this. 🤮
Yeah I don't know - would have been great, even to have had it as a paid upgrade. Regardless I'd forgotten how much I love the image from my original S5, it still looks gorgeous !
Impressive image quality
I think so!
I love my original S5 just as much as my x but what is the point of this camera? Why not just give the original S5 a firmware update?
Yeah I don't know! I guess maybe something had to change at the hardware level - add more memory or something. They've continued to sell the S5 mark 1 so I guess they're just refreshing those units...
Or they just want a last marketing push to shift the final units, but it'd have been nice to at least have offered this as a paid upgrade for existing S5 users.
@@EdProsser very true- at least original s5s will be even cheaper now which is a bonus
Can’t believe they are going for under £800 now
@@OscarCloud Yeah I've seen them occasionally go for £500 on eBay, if you just want amazing image quality and a small form factor it's a great option.
@@EdProsser Oh, so I had it backwards. Well that's a lot less useful.
I'm genuinely asking, not trying to hate.)
I can't think that anyone who would care about these details would NOT shoot in V-log.
I really hope they will give us a body only version or like with the S9 offer many different bundle discounts with prime lenses because I have no use for the 18-40
Yeah it seems weird that they will only offer it with the new lenses. Hopefully a body only version will materialise.

Not sure the S5D will do any better with moiré though. If it did, that would be something.
It'll be the exact same image / sensor performance - honestly never had an issue with it - but didn't do stills or weddings / people in suits
I don’t know how long we’re gonna have to wait for the S1H2 but damn. Like why do we get the GH2mark4 first
It'll come when it's ready I guess! Honestly I can't afford a big new camera right now 😂 a bit more time to save up would be useful!
How does the S5's image quality compares to the S1 and S1H?

Just start selling the X-e4 again, please.
The original S1h was overshadowed by a lot of the Sony fanfare around the FX6 and FX3 - so holding it back until Sony announce theirs is probably a strategy they're pursuing - if Sony announces something and then they can better it and launch it slightly after - it'll take away a lot of their thunder
But...
It's probably going for the same price I guess it's replacing the existing S5 on sale, so if you were to buy an S5 you'd just get the S5D now.
Is this camera better than lumix s5iix

I’m curious, what’s the argument for shooting on any mirrorless body if your output is RUclips or social media over a pocket 3 or iPhone log?
Quality, IO and control over final image. The differences are pretty night and day.

Another slap in the face to their users
Why 😂 - it's just a camera refresh - what's so crazy about that! Most of the announcement was on the zoom lens and firmware updates, positive action from a company supporting existing products.
I just decided to make a video to celebrate the S5 and remind people it still looks great!
@@EdProsser I mean, if they wanted to move units they could’ve just sold off old S5 stock at a steep discount. These will just sit again. The D is a firmware update.
The S9 was already a swing and a miss, people were justified to criticize it. The update means it could’ve launched that way, but they got BTFO by the internet.
No S1 line updates. No good pancake lens to protect partners. It’s just getting old ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's their cheapest FF camera and people are still buying it, make it more competitive and shift remaining stock. Canon, Fuji and Sony do the same thing, but usually charge even more 🤣
All this constant negativity is just bizarre in my opinion. So many people just obsessing over tech specs of cameras they will never own nor shoot on. No problem having an opinion, but don't let it get you down man! There's more to life.
@@EdProsser lmao brother, I’m fine with the several cameras I have. I had the S5IIX before and sold it. I find L mount to be a trap considering the better third party options these days.
Why do you assume any criticism comes from some super angry, irrational place? Can’t you just engage with it and talk like an adult?
@@LIGHTHUNTER.D Gee can't you?
Sounds like they released trash
Shooting with the S5 last weekend reminded me that the camera absolutely is not trash. If you can't make good images with that cam, it's probably more down to your skill than anything else. But I get it - people want some crazy flagship and they want it now
@@EdProsser no the issue is they left that crappy autofocus like they are going backwards
@@EdProsser nobody wants this camera
Then why are you wasting your life watching videos and writing comments about it 🤣
