- Swami Sarvapriyananda teaches Verse 34-42 from the Tenth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita. This series of talks unfolds the highest truths of Vedanta through the study of "The song of God".
🔆 Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 10 Verse 34:
मृत्यु: सर्वहरश्चाहमुद्भवश्च भविष्यताम् |कीर्ति: श्रीर्वाक्च नारीणां स्मृतिर्मेधा धृति: क्षमा || 34||
mṛityuḥ sarva-haraśh chāham udbhavaśh cha bhaviṣhyatāmkīrtiḥ śhrīr vāk cha nārīṇāṁ smṛitir medhā dhṛitiḥ kṣhamā
🔴 I am the all-devouring death, and I am the origin of those things that are yet to be. Amongst feminine qualities I am fame, prosperity, fine speech, memory, intelligence, courage, and forgiveness. || 34 ||
🔆 Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 10 Verse 35:
बृहत्साम तथा साम्नां गायत्री छन्दसामहम् |मासानां मार्गशीर्षोऽहमृतूनां कुसुमाकर: || 35||
bṛihat-sāma tathā sāmnāṁ gāyatrī chhandasām ahammāsānāṁ mārga-śhīrṣho ’ham ṛitūnāṁ kusumākaraḥ
🔴 Amongst the hymns in the Samaveda know me to be the Brihatsama; amongst poetic meters I am the Gayatri. Of the twelve months of the Hindu calendar I am Margsheersh, and of seasons I am spring, which brings forth flowers. || 35 ||
🔆 Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 10 Verse 36:
द्यूतं छलयतामस्मि तेजस्तेजस्विनामहम् |जयोऽस्मि व्यवसायोऽस्मि सत्त्वं सत्त्ववतामहम् || 36||
dyūtaṁ chhalayatām asmi tejas tejasvinām ahamjayo ’smi vyavasāyo ’smi sattvaṁ sattvavatām aham
🔴 I am the gambling of the cheats and the splendor of the splendid. I am the victory of the victorious, the resolve of the resolute, and the virtue of the virtuous. || 36 ||
🔆 Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 10 Verse 37:
वृष्णीनां वासुदेवोऽस्मि पाण्डवानां धनञ्जय: |मुनीनामप्यहं व्यास: कवीनामुशना कवि: || 37||
vṛiṣhṇīnāṁ vāsudevo ’smi pāṇḍavānāṁ dhanañjayaḥmunīnām apyahaṁ vyāsaḥ kavīnām uśhanā kaviḥ
🔴 Amongst the descendants of Vrishni, I am Krishna, and amongst the Pandavas I am Arjun. Know me to be Ved Vyas amongst the sages, and Shukracharya amongst the great thinkers. || 37 ||
🔆 Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 10 Verse 38:
दण्डो दमयतामस्मि नीतिरस्मि जिगीषताम् |मौनं चैवास्मि गुह्यानां ज्ञानं ज्ञानवतामहम् || 38||
daṇḍo damayatām asmi nītir asmi jigīṣhatāmmaunaṁ chaivāsmi guhyānāṁ jñānaṁ jñānavatām aham
🔴 I am just punishment amongst means of preventing lawlessness, and proper conduct amongst those who seek victory. Amongst secrets I am silence, and in the wise I am their wisdom. || 38 ||
🔆 Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 10 Verse 39:
यच्चापि सर्वभूतानां बीजं तदहमर्जुन |न तदस्ति विना यत्स्यान्मया भूतं चराचरम् || 39||
yach chāpi sarva-bhūtānāṁ bījaṁ tad aham arjunana tad asti vinā yat syān mayā bhūtaṁ charācharam
🔴 I am the generating seed of all living beings, O Arjun. No creature moving or non-moving can exist without Me. || 39 ||
🔆 Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 10 Verse 40:
नान्तोऽस्ति मम दिव्यानां विभूतीनां परन्तप |एष तूद्देशत: प्रोक्तो विभूतेर्विस्तरो मया || 40||
nānto ’sti mama divyānāṁ vibhūtīnāṁ parantapaeṣha tūddeśhataḥ prokto vibhūter vistaro mayā
🔴 There is no end to My divine manifestations, O conqueror of enemies. What I have declared to you is a mere sample of My infinite glories. || 40 ||
🔆 Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 10 Verse 41:
यद्यद्विभूतिमत्सत्त्वं श्रीमदूर्जितमेव वा |तत्देवावगच्छ त्वं मम तेजोंऽशसम्भवम् || 41||
yad yad vibhūtimat sattvaṁ śhrīmad ūrjitam eva vātat tad evāvagachchha tvaṁ mama tejo ’nśha-sambhavam
🔴 Whatever you see as beautiful, glorious, or powerful, know it to spring from but a spark of My splendor. || 41 ||
🔆 Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 10 Verse 42:
अथवा बहुनैतेन किं ज्ञातेन तवार्जुन |विष्टभ्याहमिदं कृत्स्नमेकांशेन स्थितो जगत् || 42||
atha vā bahunaitena kiṁ jñātena tavārjunaviṣhṭabhyāham idaṁ kṛitsnam ekānśhena sthito jagat
🔴 What need is there for all this detailed knowledge, O Arjun? Simply know that by one fraction of My being, I pervade and support this entire creation. || 42 ||

Excellent speech on concluding verses of ch 10, specially ur experience with a Swamy who narrated about muddy water during floods. I'm not merely praising; this is a excellent example encouraging t calm my mind.

Swamiji! Pranaam! The gap of about 3 months between two series of lectures is too big! My humble request to reduce the gaps! Pranaam!
It's taken some time but I've caught up with this class. A total of over 5 days of listening to Swami, what a blessing. I am eagerly looking forward to more. The death ceremony for the parents is so fascinating, and it reminds me of a thought I had about the first chapter: could it be possible that Arjuna's predicament of killing his own family in the war is a metaphor for the sannyasa's renunciation of the world including family ties - "killing" the family in order to embrace God/Brahman fully?

My apologies for taking liberty to add an unspoken chapter 10 verse 32.5 - it came about from a middle school assignment lol: “Of the periodic table, I am the noble gases.”
I think Hydrogen would me more correct
@@sumitdutta7043 Ok, I think I see your point, though I could pointlessly make a case for both 😅. Perhaps Hydrogen could be likened to the immanent, and the noble gases the transcendent, even though this idea was not originally the reason why I chose the noble gases.

Do you believe in Vishwaroop darshan? Could it not be just a ploy through poetic imaginations to create religious fear in minds of lay men? In fact religion can't stand on philosophy alone. It needs stories of miracles to make impression in minds of common people. That is why we find Viswaroop darshan in Gita, separation of red sea on instructions of Moses in old testament and Prophet going to see heaven in Quran. But, Vishwaroop darshan is not Vedanta. But, you like to change subject of your preaching to impress various category of people. Maintaining silence for a day or two is not difficult. I also do. Can you show a verse in Gita, which says Bramha is source of everything? No. It says Bramha is subordinate to Krishna. It is also not said in Gita, that our past deeds are creating differences among us. According to dual Vedanta, differences are there because we might have been originated from Brahma, but we have qualities of Brahma in different degrees. From your talk people might be getting solace thinking their Atmans are perpetually active and immortal. But, as per Gita, those immortal Atmans may get bodies of reptiles in Marina Trench. There is no escape route from that obvious possibility.
What do you belive ?? Biswaroop darshan is authentic or not??
@@sayansahasrahara3074 Hindu religious writers are intelligent enough to understand that crowd are not interested in philosophy, but in miracles. As such, some clever person has added universal form in Gita, so that people take interest in the same.
