- A classic clip of the manic and much-loved Rod Hull and Emu from the 1970s. Having made his name in the UK and Australia, in the mid-70s Rod took his feathered friend to Canada, where he became a star on a third separate continent, as a regular guest on the Hudson Brothers' Razzle Dazzle Show. These appearances are little-known outside North America. Here is one of them, as Rod gives Emu a painting lesson. Of course, emu + paint = one big mess! Thanks to Exclavius at TheEmpire.bz .

I totally forgot about Rod and his emu until I saw the liberty commericals. I use to howl with laughter watching these two. Thanks for bringing back such funny memories!
Being from Canada I was first introduced Rod & Emu on the Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Comedy Hour. I think that was the name. Emu was great back in the 70’s and is still funny today. Thank you for keeping the memories alive today On RUclips. 👍🏻

I grew up with this show, I loved it, wish I could tell the hudson brothers who much I enjoyed it. Specialty the saying" no thanks were trying to cut down" funny.

This was my favourite show & I remember this skit! Probably that wasn't real green paint. I've been lucky enough to never get paint in my eyes, but I would think an act like that would be considered too dangerous to do just for a funny joke like this

When I was a kid thought this show was mustard that Emu was a naughty bird Rod Hull made a lot of dosh out of that puppet clever man so sad he fell from his roof while trying to fix his television aerial

It wasn't actually a real bird, it was his hand inside that moved it.
I lost my emu puppet on the school roof in the late 70's. Never got over it.
