Rod Hull And Emu - How To Make An Omelette

A classic clip of the manic and much-loved Rod Hull and Emu from the 1970s. Having made his name in the UK and Australia, in the mid-70s Rod took his feathered friend to Canada, where he became a star on a third separate continent, as a regular guest on the Hudson Brothers' Razzle Dazzle Show. These appearances are little-known outside North America. Here is one of them, as Rod proves you can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs - if you make it alongside Emu, that is! He is 'SILVIUS' from Shakespeare's 'As You Like It', and 'LANCE 'in 'Two Gentlemen of Verona'. Innocence seems to be the only quality which his confidence needs. His innocence allows no fear, and no disrespect. It is - as in so many of Shakespeare's misunderstood (and mistakenly performed) characters, simply LOVE that he feels for the animal. A lesson for a thousand comedians, and for the Royal Shakespeare Company as well. And which accounts for his best performances.. (John)
