Rod Hull And Emu - How To Groom An Emu
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 23 апр 2013
- A classic clip of the manic and much-loved Rod Hull and Emu from the 1970s. Having made his name in the UK and Australia, in the mid-70s Rod took his feathered friend to Canada, where he became a star on a third separate continent, as a regular guest on the Hudson Brothers' Razzle Dazzle Show. These appearances are little-known outside North America. Here is one of them, as Rod demonstrates the best grooming techniques for your emu - but possibly not for his Emu! Thanks to Exclavius at TheEmpire.bz .

Not many people can have a puppet that doesnt even talk and make it funny, Rod was a bloody legend in what he did, funny for children and adults.. Sadly missed :(
Funny to see grown men terrified of a puppet. We all know its not real but the way Rod Hull makes it appear to have a life and personality of its own is remarkable.
It's not real?
@@uncooked_ham oh dear
@@oddities-whatnot It's been 3 months Simon! BTW, you nailed the UFO sound effect in your video ;)
I think they are terrified of getting injured by the over exuberant Hull who was somewhat hamfisted with some of his attacks. Parkinson was a victim, and several women complained of sexual assault after Hull pushed his hand up between their legs or groped their breasts using cover of the puppet.
No one was terrified in this act. Anyone could tell they are just playing along for the show to be better.
I'm nearly 50 and I still find this as funny as I did when I was 10.
Long live the emu empire!
HAIL ROD HULL!!!
Mr.Clean I remember this as a kid and we’d about wet ourselves laughing 😂😂😂😂
That was classic. Amazing how this Emu has stayed in my Memory for 40 years. Sad part I can't remember where I put my Keys last night :/
+Richard Noonan - I am a member of the same dubiously auspicious club.
Solution - Make your keys Emu-shaped
Mucky Duck Bush Band
You should never leave your keys next to an Emu.
Same here. Just sitting here and popped in my head.
I was playing hearts of iron 4 and this guy became the leader of Australia, I'm glad Australia finally has a leader that can do its people justice
Ambassador Udina same lol
Me too 😂
He may have lived in Australia for a while but he was British.
The real problem is that when i was playing hoi4 i made Australia a puppet of the kingdom of italy
The sheer delight of an American to these novelty comedy acts is revealing. An emu, a scottie, scrambled translation, are all so refreshing.
It's the physicality that makees me laugh so much lol
I used to find emu really annoying as a kid, but now as an adult I find it really funny.
It’s also great that in those days, a man could earn a living by having an emu puppet on his arm. Great job, Rod!
the assistants are like " fuck no I staying away from that stupid bird."
Oh memories!!!
I used to watch “The Hudson Brothers” every week + I ESPECIALLY loved THE EMU!!!😂
Love the Hudson brothers but can't stand the emu, Billy Connolly had the best idea...he said to rod hull if that comes anywhere near me I'll break its neck and your arm 😂😂
Brilliant act and concept. I couldn't wait to see him each we.k when I was a kid in the 70s
In my mid 50s and have not seen this act for 40 0dd years....only came came here because his name was mentioned in the English comedy series Benidorm . Watching this now I'm in stitches with laughter. So funnny!.....will watch more. Brillant humour and never really replicated.
Wow, same here - watched as teen, caught the brief reference in 'Benidorm' and now reveling in these bits of genius once again!
Yes indeed, Rod was such a funny man with his manic sidekick Emu.
It was a tragedy that he died trying to fix his tv aerial whilst on his roof during a storm one night.
But although it was a tragic sad loss, I could still see him in my imagination on the roof with Emu wrestling with the looney bird over the tv antenna, as they fell arse over elbow, Emu and Rods legs flying everywhere as they tumbled down the slates lol
But seriously he gave our family laughter every time he was on tv.
R.I.P Rod, gone but not forgotten.
@@Toastrackman LOL....I shouldn't laugh at this visualisation (I had no idea how he died before now), but I think Rod would appreciate your joke looking down from heaven and the hilarious vision of this. You made me laugh. I'm not so sure that St Peter at the Pearly Gates would have been too keen to also allow the emu in though!!!! 🙂
@withapulse2000 LOL very amusing thought that,
Togas and Halos flying everywhere😄
Hearts of Iron 4 is a fun game.
팽윈밀 케이크!
Glory to the Emu Empire!
The only nation that can stand against the Thunder Dragon Empire
Oh my God! This is absolute genius from everyone on stage 😄 I've just laughed and laughed, absolutely timeless brilliance!
This is the type of humor that would make me laugh so hard I couldn't breath as a kid. It's funny as an adult but as a kid it was beyond hilarious.
Same here...so so funny as a kid but I was watching this and still thought it was hilarious...Rod Hull was incredible ❤❤❤
Ditto. Just ran across this since it first aired 40 years ago. And just like 40 years ago, I just had milk coming out of my nose..😆😆😆
That's what makes a good kids show. It's entertaining for kids and adults
I forgot how funny this is. Nothing like it today.
Youre so right
I remembered the emu from years ago so I looked him up and there it is! Funny now just as funny then!
A funny man who came to a sad end. His house had one of the old style TV antennas on the roof and when it got out of sync, instead of having a repair man come to fix it, he went up on the roof to try to fix it himself, and he slipped and fell off!
Loved seeing Mark's palpable apprehension with the water bowl.
Great upload.....rod and emu where part of my childhood and still crack me up even now.
Rod hull and emu one of the greatest entertainers of all time he me in stitches lol
My mum used to watch this all the time and now I love it, it's so funny 😂
All rise for the glorious leader of the Emu Empire. May his reign last a thousand years.
Our first Australian as kids! Some bits just never get old!
Wow!!!!! He makes the emu so real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he was brilliant, you would think emu was alive, RIP Rod, you gave us some laughs
One of my favorite child hood memories. Rod Hull and emu. Right up there with Red Skelton
Absolute classic!
Oh...I'm old...I remember this bit on the Hudson Brothers
Emu still makes me laugh my head off. Pink windmill was one of fave shows as a kid :)
It's been AGES since I saw the Hudson Brothers' show!
Same here............i used to love it.
So I started with emus world and now I’m here- I can’t stop laughing this is hilarious!
I remember the tragic irony of Rod's death. He fell from the roof of his house while adjusting his TV antenna. Like an emu, Rod was flightless.
My emu acts just like this.
Class just class I miss you Rod and emu
That was just great my daughter laughing her head off.
that is a *GREAT* puppet/costume
I use to love watching the Hudson Brothers.
This is so funny 😂
You don't see much of Emu anymore since Rod Hull died. I heard he took it badly, they were very close :(
Gone into seclusion. Amy's son, Emu Jr., does a double act with Rod's son Toby Hull.
There were two shows with Emu done by Rod's son Toby.
My pops just showed me this today! I was dying!!
A legend. Love you Rod.
I have to watch this every night and I still lol, miss you rod hill ❤️😬😬
This never gets old, bloody brilliant love it happy childhood memories❤
This was always a favorite! Still great.
Lol, this popped in my head because I wanted to pick up a jar of emu rub from drugstore after work. I remember watching this guy when I was growing up. Funny stuff. Lawd[sic] we ALL need a good laugh nowadays.
The emu empire is the one empire that historians never speak about because it was to big and powerful
Rod Hull, one of England's funniest men ever, never mind the emu
It's not an Emu, it's his hand in there!
@@PreservationEnthusiast Shhhh...don't spoil it!
@@debrarufini6906 Sorry about that. Some people think Emu was actually real though!
@@PreservationEnthusiast Haaaa - did they really? That's funny.
@@PreservationEnthusiast That's exactly what Emu and Rod wanted you to think. That thing was a Lovecraftian monster masquerading as a puppet. There are some things you simply do not mess with, for example - the Muppet Show Swedish Chef. Emu is right up there in every top 10 list of such deadly creatures. I would rather be locked in a room with a Xenomorph than Rod Hull's Emu.
Absolutely so funny, sadly missed
I saw a rerun of him on Johnny Carson the other night. LMAO!!! Great Stuff!!!
They showed it again a couple weeks ago. Never heard of the Emu before that!
emu is so cute
This had me in stitches 🤣
So tragic that Rod died falling off his roof whilst trying to fix his tv aerial in a storm, in my mind's eye I could imagine Emu wrestling with him over it on his chimney as they both tumbled arse over elbow down the slates lol
But seriously he was a very funny guy and sadly missed.
I’m stoned right now and creased at this. Forgot all about this. This is why the older generation have a sense of humour and don’t get offended over a fart
I use to love waching emu still cracks me up today dont no why hes not around no more
I never knew this was a thing, just remember watching Pink windmill as a kid, this sketch was genius.
thay dont make comedy like this any more
They never did before this either. It was a real one-time thing.
Bloody brilliant Rod Hull was a legend still hilarious today as ever what ever happened to Emu
This is great, I watch 1 video of Bob Carolgees & Spit the dog & I'm now getting Rod & Emu, even Norman Collier coming up in my suggested vids. Loved the 80s as a kid.
The Hudson Brothers show was on in the 70s
brendalg4 - No idea who the Hudsons are, I just watched Rod Hull & Emu in the 80s on British TV.
@@steveh4290 we got the Hudson Brothers in the USA in the 70s. Rod Hull was on there. I don't recognize the other names.
As a child I always loved Rod Hull...funnily enough though I never warmed to Emu.
Anyone here because of Gilbert Gottfried? This guy used to crack me up and I was a kid, and it's still funny today!
No wonder they lost the emu war
Lol this is great. Thanks to hoi4 for bringing me here
Marvelous indeed.
Rod was simply a genius
He was one of a kind
Long live the Emu Empire!
The Hudson Brothers.
Looks like Ken Berry coming in at the end there.
Comedy genius.
I LOVE emu he I SOO funny😂😂
Love it. Thank you!
Good to see a 70s kids entertainer whose only grooming was of an emu. Makes a nice change.
Fantastic
" Looks like we won't be grooming the Emu this week...."
love emu
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
OMG Rod, that's not how you groom an emu.
😂😂😂😂😂
YOU'RE SO SO SO HILARIOUS!!!!!
Brilliant.
He was so awesome, love you , silly man for on your roof, if I ever feel bad , I have to watch this , ❤️❤️❤️ we miss you
I have two actual baby emu(s). This video is pretty accurate.
I love that damned bird
Hilarious!
Judging from the comments, there are apparently hundreds of people out there who have put in enough time to have puppeted Australia as nonaligned Poland. You're truly never alone on the internet.
Though the show was on briefly, I remember it.
Long live the eternal emu empire!!!
beautiful vid. :D
That fuckin bird is no joke. His ass reaps havoc.
i loved it
I still think that bird is alive
Toobad Rod Hull isn't.
Believe it or not, what brought me here was the Necrology section of the 1999 edition of The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror!
My god I love him
I think the Hudson in the middle is Kate's dad?
I like how the one brother waited for the canned laughter to die down before speaking his lines
I laughed so hard!
Awesome
i could not stop giggling
Are you on drugs?
Kevin Russell Shut up. Also how can you talk, narwhals can not talk!
Haha great .I loved it when he on the Lena zavoroni show.have a look .u find Lena zavronie on u tube .and what a voice.and talent .but left us so young ..
Am i the only one who see's Ron Jeremy in the middle?
*HEY HEY*
*IT'S SATURDAY*
Brilliant
