  • The horse I ride on was named Smudge. I almost fell off him because he
    yanked his neck but good thing that I hold on to him.

    So adorable, I feel like we all remember that first lesson. What she said about not brushing the tail, but only on special occasions. A couple of the horses I ride I try and brush them almost every time I ride bc they have super thick tails.

    I always find the back feet are much more uncomfortable to pick, and my long hair always gets in my way, don't come at me, I know most equestrians wear their hair in a ponytail or bun, but I like my hair down, I don't know why I just feel more protected/secure having my hair around my neck, I know, it's weird, but I just feel more comfortable having my hair down😅

    I know this was last year, but you did great in your first lesson. It only gets harder from here, trust me. I've been riding since I was 7 and have had too many accidents to count.
    I noticed a few things your instructor did wrong. One, is the leadrope. There was a loop and if the horse had've pulled away or bolted off, you would've lost a few fingers or even your entire hand. Two, she should've had her entire focus on you, not the other students even if she is the only instructor around. When I was teaching at my old barn, if I had a beginner with me who knew next to nothing of how to do stuff, they'd constantly have my focus on them. If someone had a question, I would tell them to ask a friend first. Anything can go wrong. And third, she should've put you on the leadline as a new rider, which also wasn't very safe.

    A tip for standing still is dont pull on the reins. Just let them hang. The reason the horse was backing but at 15:28 is because you where pulling on the reins. He put his head back to move away from the bit and that is also why he jolted his neck down.

    I would've loved to have learned with a trainer at a riding school, Instead my parents purchased a horse when i was six (TB x Irish, hunting horse 17 2) and said we will teach you! They're both hunters so they knew what they were doing. I had to learn everything in a field instead of a school. There way of teaching was me riding with them. In a way i learnt faster than a lot of people, so thats a win. I have now ridden horses for just over 10 years and i dont regret it one bit.

    Gosh- so many people in the comments saying things like; "Is that a bike helmet???" And "You should have been on a lunge line for your 1st lesson!" C'mon... Why would she have to be on a lunge line!?! And its obviously a riding hemet! In your 1st few lessons, you are learning to steer- YOU DONT LEARN TO STEER ON A LUNGE LINE- When I had my 1st lesson, we never used lunge lines- We just walked aroung the arena by ourselves! You dont need a lunge line! Even at my 1st canter- We did NOT use a lunge line! Because you dont NEED one. They are using well and highly broke schoolmaster horses. Its not a big deal. In other videos of people jumping for the 1st time, people in those comment sections have been complaining about how they jumped before they could canter- but thats how it was for me to. So- Reapeat after me; IT. IS. NOT. A. BIG. DEAL. Simple!

    Just wanted to ask (I'm about halfway through so far, looking good) is there a reason for that ad line running right through the video? Is there a way to turn it off? I find it distracting because it covers up the important things that you're being taught. I like to watch how different instructors teach their beginner riders. Thumbs up so far!

    Good instructor. But if this is her has control, balance and now what pressure and release means plus and riding cues are. And has all body positions. Only thing I would like to see is more safety. I as an instructor will not allow children under eighteen inter or handles without their helmet is on. I seen to many children hurt around horses with out one. That's my opinion and suggestion. Also I like children on a more suitable size horse for their height.

    I’m only 12 and live in a small town I’ve only found 1 equestrian center around my area but the website has only info about boarding it says they do lessons but there’s no info on prices or anything I really want to learn but I have some questions what’s a average price and where do I start

    • @Crazy_Kpop_equestrian101
      @Crazy_Kpop_equestrian101  Месяц назад +1

      @@Mayas505 When starting to ride. You first ask the person who leads the barn the price for lesson and if it's in within your budget. And depending on your current level (beginner, novice, intermediate, advanced) they will check you kn the first lesson and see what level you are. Then they will start teaching you depending on your level.

    When I first rode no one ever led me while I was on and I was 4 But I kinda wish other beginners didn't get led because then they start trotting on the 3rd or 4th day and they learn quicker like me
