So wonderful to see such an excited kid working with a trainer whom is just as excited to teach! I started riding when I was fourteen, and was put on a malnourished off the tracks thoroughbred stallion for my first lesson. It was not an enjoyable experience.
I know this was last year, but you did great in your first lesson. It only gets harder from here, trust me. I've been riding since I was 7 and have had too many accidents to count. I noticed a few things your instructor did wrong. One, is the leadrope. There was a loop and if the horse had've pulled away or bolted off, you would've lost a few fingers or even your entire hand. Two, she should've had her entire focus on you, not the other students even if she is the only instructor around. When I was teaching at my old barn, if I had a beginner with me who knew next to nothing of how to do stuff, they'd constantly have my focus on them. If someone had a question, I would tell them to ask a friend first. Anything can go wrong. And third, she should've put you on the leadline as a new rider, which also wasn't very safe.
For your first lesson you did amazing my first lesson was horrible I was forced to trot straight away I didn’t know how to hold the reins control stop or kick the horse but I’m better just working on my foot position In the stirrups
You did wonderful on your first lesson! I've been riding for 4 years now and you did way better than me on my first lesson! Glad everything went well! ❤
