Very beautiful work. At 10:44 - is there a benefit to filling that triangular gap (and the other small gaps all along the retaining wall) with base or sand to more securely lock the pavers from slowly migrating toward the block wall over the coming years and decades, or to even just keep dead leaves and other trash from collecting into those small pockets between the wall and pavers?
Sure
It wouldn't hurt
Do you need gravel on the backside of a wall like this or is soil/dirt fine? I have a similar size wall that only has dirt back fill, wondering if I need to put a layer of gravel.
We used base half way up
Did you coat the stucco with anything before backfilling with garden soil?
Thorough Seal
7:58 what glue are you using? Everything looks great.
I have sometimes not used glue at all for these blocks on stacks 2-3 high, but glue is a good idea for sure. I think any masonry glue or concrete sealant even for cracks will be secure for this.
Ive used landscape glue
you dont need glue unless your 600 lbs and bump your fat leg into it ! LOL
Question: Would you want to use an alternative to crushed concrete as a base if it's going to be a planter. Maybe something more natural for plants?
Sand works also
@@OdellCompleteConcrete True, or maybe crushed stone
Or crush and run
Succulents can thrive in base rock and sand :)
I was a little confused to be honest. You state the first course is above grade. 2 inches above grade. So is that a "2 in trench" you are in? The bottom of the pavers will be level with the top of the first course?
No the top of paver should at the middle of first stacked wall course
Great work how do u cut the blocks?
Diamond blades
O ok is there a certain size or way to cut ?
Do you break off the tabs on the bottom row?
No
wh was the last stone at the top not cut as the other ones at 10:39? nice work though 😊😊
Everyone is a little different
How did you get no gaps on the top layer?
Cut to fit
Why does the top layer of blocks NOT Have the triangular gap like the bottom 2 layer of blocks? Are they different 🤔
Cut to fit
Your guys' knees could keep an orthopoedic surgeon employed his entire career
True
Wonderful. Did SAM quit working for Tim's outfit?
Yes
4th 👍
Right on
More to come from the landscape designer ?
Yes
Here in MN, I see the ruins of these stacked block walls all over the place. Strictly temporary solution.
Yes I see them here as well
