Hola top noch que bueno es verte siempre esperando tus vídeos que tengas una linda mañana bendiciones para ti y tu familia soy Lupe pizarro de Cuenca Ecuador Cuenca Ecuador 😀🇪🇨♥️
You definitely spent more time on leveling than I did on the fire pit patio I built two years ago. I was like, 'eh, it's level enough' and now I need to redo it this year.
Yeah that’s definitely a lesson I have learned the hard way! Some of it can’t be helped but I’ve learned the more prep upfront the longer it lasts. Let us know how the fire pit works out
It's so nice that you have taken the time out of you busy schedule to do a few jobs around the house! Your son is a great help! Your home is very neat & well taken care of, I love the green garage! You have taken on a massive job, but in the end everyone is happy. What a great job you both have accomplished!!!
Also, Justin, you are a really hard-working young man!!! Wish more young people had your work ethic, it really shows that you guys love what you are doing!!!! Great job, kiddo!!! Be Blessed!!!
I have been wanting to see your new project! My wife is doing a little better every day! Had staples removed Friday [34]!! Still has 2 drains that will be removed in two weeks! She will still have to have 6 chemotherapy treatments just to be sure all of cancer is gone. We still need all of the prayers to continue for us,I truly believe in the power of prayers! I'm praying for everyone now and I will never stop praying! I hope you have a blessed day and the rest of the week . Thanks again my friend!
Thanks so much for the update my friend. Definitely will continue with the prayers. Good to hear about the steady progress. Make sure to tell her we’re all praying and cheering for her!
Oh meant to say that the wall turned out super amazing and really changed the look of the house. When you mentioned red maple my first thought was, 'will it clash with the red bricks?' then, 'is that too close to the house for a tree?' Can you grow Esperanza’s where you live? The yellow blooms would be a nice contrast & the size is easily managed. Can’t wait to see the next video of this project.
Brilliant tip about mixing the topsoil with the grass seeds to put grass right up next to the stone wall! Thanks for showing such wall-building details, especially the level line and how to deal with the slope.
Well Brian, you and Justin did a stellar job! I love the transformation, I didn’t want the video to end! The landscaping process was so enjoyable to watch! ☺️ thank you!
Oh come on Brian you are doing plumbing butt get a longer t-shirt please haha. My grandson is also autistic. Dawns here ☀️👍 Blessings to all the family.
I think the finished product is amazing. Well done. My neighbor taught me mix my seed in dirt a long time ago and it woks every time. I can’t wait to how it looks with plants. A Japanese maple would look awesome on the corner!
Best part of the video IMO is you saying you're not that good at setting a level first row of blocks but then it all comes together perfectly. I've done a couple of similar projects on my property and I used the same method: try your best with the base layer, but then just hit the blocks with a deadblow hammer until they're level, checking like 100 times per block just to make sure. It's really comforting to know that I'm not alone. Gives me a lot of confidence.
WOO-HOO! Been waiting to see your flower garden since you bought the house! Looking forward to part 2! Flowers, trees, bushes gives a balance to land. Masculine/feminine. Fantastic job you guys! Neat, pretty, and gives eye appeal.
I liked the addition of the music - that wind was fierce. You put a nice gentle curve in a flower bed so it will be easy to mow around, and I would take it out and around the AC unit unless you intend to cover that up with some sort of screen. I prefer mulch in my flower beds. When I bought this house the prior owner had put white marble stones around the base of two pine trees and it was a disaster, impossible to keep clean looking from the non-stop shedding of pine cones and small twigs from those pines. Mulch can just be raked out and replaced for a fresh clean look, or even just add an extra layer on top and clean out the following spring.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Pine and cedar plants can definitely cause a consistent problem in beds like that! The plants I put in will definitely Have an effect on which direction I go. But I appreciate the reminder, that’s never a good luck
Love what you are doing with your beautiful new home Brian.. as usual you and Justin have done a stellar job and looking forward to seeing the next installment
Great video Brian, for only really doing lawn care and knowing a little about landscaping that is awesome! I do about 50 50 lawn care and landscaping and the more you do it the more tricks and easier it becomes! Can’t wait for part 2!

I’m so frustrated trying to rake with system hoses every which way on top of gardens ugh. Thank you for such good explanations…my brain is now cooking up some outrageous changes in our future 🤣😂🤣
Yes that is definitely the goal! But that’s a consistent problem with drip systems! I agree they can be frustrating in a bed! I’m trying to make sure I have a tree appropriate for the area. I’ll have to look into Esperanza I am not familiar with that one
Looks great! If you're still wondering which tree to plant on the end, I would suggest a 'Slender Hinoki Cypress' tree. It grows to less than 12' and 2' wide. It has a kind of whimsical look. The dark green would stand out from the red brick front unlike a Japanese maple and those can get quite a spreading root system. Just a thought.

I did exactly what you are doing two years ago at my house. I put the landscaping fabric down (double layer) and filled it with ROCK...........and it looks great and works great. Like you said, it blows out easily so no trouble to keep it looking good. Go with the rock!
GOOD JOB!! What you did will show off the custom brick design and pretty window. Bushes. TIP--If you soak the soil. Get you a heavy duty chain and a truck and they pull right out. I did 8 rose bushes in 2 hours. They don't grow back and NO digging out.

Hi Brian, you & Justin did an amazing job.A Japanese maple would be beautiful.I have rock in my flower beds because of wind & leaves blowing but you do what your family likes.I learned a lot by watching this.👏🏻😊👍🏻
I recommend beds that are only as wide as your arms can reach the back to pull out the weeds and pick the flowers 💐. I love the stone from the flower bed with the red brick and the green so much. Maybe try to get some bushes that will hide the yellow brick that does not look as good.

I love Japanese Maples. I have mulch just remember if you use Mulch don't put down landscape fabric because the mulch turns into soil and the weeds just go threw the fabric. We made that mistake and had to dig it all out and start over again. It looks nice. Can't wait to see it all done. Good luck and God bless you all.
I thought Japanese Maple before it flashed onscreen. I vote for rock for ease of cleanup. You and Justin work well together. The cap really dresses the wall up!
Weeping Japanese maples are a favorite of mine. Easy maintenance and don’t overcrowd. I would’ve prolly run that downspout out of the bed to a pop up especially if you’re going to mulch.
Big shout out to you guys for making a difficult job seem methodical and easy. A little planning up front, getting materials together and such cuts down on the windshield time back and forth. Looks like part of the structure now and should be fantastic once plants and colors are there! Nice job guys!
It looks beautiful! I think your helper was trying to give you a new smile 😃! 😂 It’s nice to see you boys having fun digging in the dirt! Great Job 👏!!!!!
Love it! I love mulch too...it looks more natural but this is your home. Japanese Maple would look wonderful with supertunia vista's spilling over the wall. An arch structure against your wall would look awesome. Whatever u do will look great
@@TopNotchLawns We had a weeping Japanese maple in our garden. Stayed same height as grafted. Changed leaf colour in seasons and was very low maintenance. Looked amazing too. I am in Australia.
The stone accent around the window looks much better now that you have the wall. It blends so well together. I would use stone myself. Mulch is a pain.
That new wall/garden area looks especially great with the stone in your front bricked wall. It was meant to be, so natural looking. Loved seeing your precise way of working. It’s beautiful
As someone who just spent so much time pulling out overgrown spireas and all of the landscape fabric they were attached to, I am personally not a fan of landscape fabric. Not only does it get heavy with years of mulching with weeds and roots trying to grow over through it, but it's also difficult to add plants to landscapes (or replace them) when these covers are used. Other than shrubs, I wouldn't bother growing herbaceous perennials in them. Annuals are also out the window for the most part. But that's the gardener side of me. On another note, this is an inspiring job done. It's surprising how a job like this can elevate the face of the home.
Great job on the wall. Y'all do beautiful work. I can't wait to see the next video to see what plants you have decided on. God Bless you and your family.
A Japanese maple, especially a small one, would be very pretty. Mulch with fine needle bark, it gradually breaks down and improves the soil, you'll need to redo it every year. Stones are difficult to plant around, they can get very hot and burn the plants in Summer. Check with the garden centre as to what grows well locally. Take a walk around your area, see what's growing in your neighbourhood.
Japanese maple would be beautiful. I think painting the white brick, maybe a red to match the rest of your home, would greatly enhance the house and flower bed. Always enjoy your videos and look forward to each one.
This is the most exciting video I've watched it a long time ! I really want to know what plants you put in there!!! Great job .
Awesome thanks Philip 😊👍
I would also enjoy seeing the finished flower beds. The retaining wall was really interesting to watch. Thank you.
I’m waiting to see plants also.

Thanks so much always appreciate the support😊👍👍
Grafted Japanese Blood Maple Tree was exactly what I was thinking when you mentioned it.
Awesome thanks for the feedback Mick I’ll look around for one of those
I learned so much and especially about the grass seed and top soil. Thank You so much and Keep Kansas mowed. Look forward to more videos. John
Big shout out to you guys for making a difficult job seem methodical and easy. A little planning up front, getting materials together and such cuts down on the windshield time back and forth. Looks like part of the structure now and should be fantastic once plants and colors are there! Nice job guys!
Thanks man 👍👍 Really appreciate! And we did pretty good, won’t go into how many times I learned my lesson the hard way! Lol
It looks a lot better with the new bed in. Once it greens up, it'll really look good...................
I think it looks really good plus it'll add value to your house when you decide to sell it
Thanks Daniel 😊👍
So glad that you had the time for home improvement on your own house. Looks great and cant wait see what plants you have choosen
Looks great, not so plain now. I looked kind of flat before, now it has style. I like the idea of a Japanese maple.
Thank you Claudia 😊😊🌸🌸
It looks beautiful! I think your helper was trying to give you a new smile 😃! 😂 It’s nice to see you boys having fun digging in the dirt! Great Job 👏!!!!!
Love it! I love mulch too...it looks more natural but this is your home. Japanese Maple would look wonderful with supertunia vista's spilling over the wall. An arch structure against your wall would look awesome. Whatever u do will look great
Thanks so much for the input Kelly! Honestly even a tougher decision because it is my house! 😂 lol hope you have a great week!
Thanks so much yeah I really liked the way that tied in. Such a tossup for me I really like the way mulch looks but it’s definitely more maintenance
Brian and Justin - looks fantastic! What a difference! 💚 You guys do great work!
Thanks so much Dianne 👋👋😊
Looks good, yes I believe the size and width of the planter looks good as well. 👍
Thanks so much! Fun doing a project at our house ☺️☺️👋
22:43 Great tip, mixing topsoil with grass seed in a bucket before putting it on the ground
Be careful about adding soil above your brick line, can give termites entry. Looks great. Like a professional.
That’s definitely always a good tip! Thank you Peggy
I understand your love of corner lots now, you even live on one. Good looking wall, can’t go wrong with a Japanese Maple. Take care.
Lol 😂 right?!? Definitely a priority when we were looking! Lol
Looks great, yes add maple 🍁 tree in circle. Can't wait to see part 2. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thank you Pamela 😊😊👋
The flower bed looks really good.
Thanks man 😊👋👍
Japanese maple would be beautiful. I think painting the white brick, maybe a red to match the rest of your home, would greatly enhance the house and flower bed. Always enjoy your videos and look forward to each one.
Thanks so much for the feedback Sonia 😊👋 Really appreciate the support glad you have enjoyed them
