Ive had my MT-09 for a few months now. Brilliant bike. Was a toss up between this an a GSX-S 750. Like the looks of the GSX more BUT you get more for your money with the MT. Brilliant bike
Had an MT-09 as daily rider and track bike for a couple years, now have a 701 Supermoto. I see nothing wrong with the seating position and the handlebar geometry for some reason. :D
Wonderful machine!!!! Congrats, brother! I am brazilian and I love the MT09. It is a shame that Yamaha Brazil didn't bring this model yet. But anyway I will get the 09 we have at the moment. Very nice ride!!!
The sound of the CP3 never gets old. Have you had a chance to ride the new XSR900 yet? It's the same engine as the MT-09 but the newest version has a bit longer wheelbase and more sport touring riding position (slight foward lean) than the MT-09 so might feel less twitchy than the MT-09. I've ridden the MT-09SP myself and love the engine, but as you mentioned the bike is a bit twitchy on turn in and doesn't settle into a corner quite as nicely as a lot of the euro nakeds or a sport tourer/sportbike. Great flickability for urban riding or really tight twisties, but maybe not as confidence inspiring on faster twisties.
Tbh i'm surprised to read that. It really depends on the feeling of the rider i gess. I also prefer more agressive geometry and scharped chassis.. my last motorcycles are MV Agusta F3 and Tuono v4. I've tried this 09 recently and i've been really surprised by the confidence it gives and how it handle. Imo almost at street triple level. The thing i agree with is the brakes are good but once you use them hard the feeling is kind of unstable. But this engine is maybe the funnier thing i've been riding 😄
I have a Gen2 MT09 and can confirm it is sketchy on turns. But it handles traffic like a bicycle, so there is a tradeoff there. I ride my MT09 a lot in have Brazilian Traffic, so I prefer agility over cornering stability
Still the best triple in my book but I think Triumph did a very good job with their speed triple 765 too. And opticwise I made my peace with the MT-09.
For me the Triumph has something special that touched my feelings. It might be the balance, the great looks and the high quality materials they use. Anyways, the MT-09 it's a great bike.
Coming back to this video again. The 24 MT09SP has been announced and it's got a Brembo master cylinder, Stylema calipers, the bars are lower, and the pegs are higher. Not by a lot, I think the bars for example moved 30mm. Basically hits all the minor niggles in your review. It sounds very appealing. Oh yeah, and they said they're increasing the spring rates front and back. I think maybe 4 degrees more steering lock too. Everything they talk about sounds good. Just wish they'd go whole hog and put Ohlins forks on it.
I currently own this bike and was very curious about the Akrapovic. It's seems like there isn't much of an improvement of the sound. At least not as much as I'd like there to be for the price of the can ! Awesome video, I'll keep my one stock 😂
@@SerifulStelar I can imagine ! Must sound amazing. Thing is, here in Switzerland you would be running too much of a risk. Here the policy for loud bikess is ultra strict
It's the year 2023 :( If you want to have a legal optional exhaust pipe that also passes the noise level tests done by police there's not much the manufacturers can do. Other exhausts might sound nice and impressive but they'll be louder than the bike's legal limit.
@@SerifulStelar I think you could hit a happy medium where legal by leaving the cat in and yanking the db killer. Then at least you don't get the pea shooter sound of the db killer, but the cat will make it a bit quieter. I know on bikes with cat boxes and end cans (i.e. Kawis) you can leave the cat box in place and toss on an aftermarket end can with no db killer and get something that is barely louder than stock, but has a much better sound anyway. I wish I had options like that on my bike haha, I ride a Versys 650 with a two brothers slip on, it sounds great but is LOUD AF even with the quietest db killer two brothers makes installed, but every other exhaust for the Kawi 650 sounds like a tin can with the db killer installed or is way too loud with it out.
Doing this seems so much easier with all those electronic aids. Not needing to rev match or use the clutch at all makes it seem like riding a bicycle with a bit more hp !

I mean it’s called a CP3 but isn’t actually cross plane at all. Think about it how can three cylinders be in the shape of a cross with a 90 degree angle between them? It’s a cylinder so each crank pin is 120 degrees apart. Firing happens every 240 degrees of rotation. It’s just a misnomer by Yamaha for people to do exactly what you just did.
I am using one finger breaking, maybe because 2 are uncomfortable for my tall fingers. Just noticed you are using one as well. The net is full of people who think two are a requirement. Did you ever feel the need to use two?
Yes, especially on old bikes sometimes 1 finger is not enough because their brakes require much more force on the lever. Most modern bikes however can perfectly be operated with just one finger

The crossplane 🔥
I mean it’s called a CP3 but isn’t actually cross plane at all. Think about it how can three cylinders be in the shape of a cross with a 90 degree angle between them?
It’s a cylinder so each crank pin is 120 degrees apart. Firing happens every 240 degrees of rotation. It’s just a misnomer by Yamaha for people to do exactly what you just did.
@@TheDaemon66 stil sounds fire
Thanks for the explanation
So you like it way more that the old one, but less that similair nakeds from different brands? Maybe like the speed triple and 890 Duke R etc
Yes exactly, I prefer naked bikes with a more classic geometry
And the real question is Yamaha MT09 SP or Ducati Monster SP?
depends on your needs
@@Schaaf Needs are canyon riding?
I am using one finger breaking, maybe because 2 are uncomfortable for my tall fingers. Just noticed you are using one as well. The net is full of people who think two are a requirement. Did you ever feel the need to use two?
Yes, especially on old bikes sometimes 1 finger is not enough because their brakes require much more force on the lever. Most modern bikes however can perfectly be operated with just one finger
Smooth
thanks
How would you compare this to the Ducati monster? I’m looking at both for a possible next bike.
It's easier to handle and operate. The Monster is more precise
great ride as always. when can we expect a test of the new honda hornet 750?
Ride safe🎉
Hopefully soon!
