That home feeling, my theory is that this is what metal is for. It's soul food whereas pop etc is eye and ear candy. Metal invokes deep shit within us. That's why there's so many genres. To get a sense of the primal, deeeeeep ancientness within us, I suggest folk metal; Eluveitie, Korpiklaani, Omnia to name a few.
Trivium is brilliant. The singer Matt was smiling at us the whole concert, especially while singing this song. They are so kind, nice and intelligent. Not mentoining the music...excellent!! And you should check out Thrown into the fire!! Brilliant ass kicking song.
Metal is the greatest thing on the face of the earth. It pulls emotions out of you that you didnt even know existed and that is why you cant put it into words. Its so powerful. Metal changed my life and I will forever be amazed at how passionate the connection between the music and people is. Both trivium and parkway drive are some of my favorite bands and I wouldnt be the person I am today had I not discovered their material. Props to you for joining the metal community. React to "the river" by parkway drive. Its one of the most meaningful songs to me and I think you would enjoy it. Keep listening man! It will change your life!
It's actually been proven that people who listen to metal and hard rock are able to cope with negative emotions easier than people who listen to pop or country. I don't know about certain rap subgenres but hard rock and metal does give some people a deep sense of belonging, acceptance, and even the ability to cope with dark memories better than they did in the past.
agree, this album definitely made it no.1 album for me and it put them in my top 3 favorite bands. But i do also recommend shogun cause it's sooooo good as well
Trivium are musical GODS amongst men, I've watched all of your videos Alex, but this one compelled me to comment on. I suggest you to watch videos about each of them. They are musically talented to the MAX. I had to get this album, I ordered it from America all the way to Pakistan! Oh and keep doing this Alex, love watching your reactions. Your videos are now-a-days no.1 on my midnight entertainment watch list!
I've been a fan of Trivium since 2009, when my friend introduced me to "Throes of Perdition" and I instantly fell in love with them. This energy they deliver through their music is something beyond understanding. Btw, if you want to react to another Trivium song - check out "Throes of Perdition" or "In Waves'', both songs are freaking awesome.
that feeling of being at home that you feel when your hear a really good metal song? we all feel it, its the heart of heavy metal. A place for anyone, outcast, jock or nerd, to feel like one family, united under the banner of músic
the drummer its called Alex Bent, he has a youtube channel where he post some playtrought of trivium songs, if you want and advice go and watch his videos , maybe react on one of them.... sorry for the bad english
Trivium are one of the most awesome and underrated bands out there!! Their new album Sin and the sentence is the best album they've had since the Shogun record 10 years ago and they are better live than ever!!! Stoked to see them live for the 5th time in July with the amazing Fit For An Autopsy. Trivium never gets old!!!
Austin Dotson idk about underrated. They've achieved a lot of recognition and good ratings for an American metal band out of the 2000s. ...that being said, I think Shogun is a little underrated. It should be required listening for any metal fan. Not something to be skipped over.
have fun at your show! i am lucky enough to have tix for october 5th and avatar will be joining up with trivium right in time for my show!! im so excited lol
A Gunshot To The Head Of Trepidation. Becoming The Dragon. Entrance Of The Conflagration. The Crusade. Down From The Sky. Throes Of Perdition. Shogun. Shattering The Skies Above. In Waves. The Sin And The Sentence. Just to name a few. Please bro, react to more Trivium.
Couldn't stop loving Trivium after the first time I heard them, each album is something different and everything is so melodic, heavy and amazing overall, welcome to the Trivium family
Now is the best time ever to learn guitar man. Thousands of channels on RUclips alone will point you in the right direction. I've been playing 16 years and still so happy I started. The way metal makes you feel home is even greater when you're creating it with your own hands. It's a slow process in the beginning..but worth it!
The way you reacted to this song is literally how I feel anytime I listen to most of Trivium's songs. Even if I've heard it for the millionth time, I still get those same goosebumps and raw emotions flowing through me as if it were my first listen. This band is stellar. ❤🤘🏻 Hope you do more react videos for metal bands!
I see a lot of people commenting "Trivium - In Waves". Please if you're going to react to "In Waves", you HAVE TO hear it together with "Capsizing the Sea". Those songs belong together. You would be doing Trivium a big disservice if you only heard "part 2" of a masterpiece. Please upvote comment so he can see, and hopefully it won't happen
Welcome home Alex. What an incredible family to have around you in the world of metal. Trivium is and will always be my fave band, they have come so far, you should definitely check out something older from them like 'pull harder on the strings of your martyr' or 'a gunshot to the head of trepidation' amazing songs too!
Alex Hefner Seriously.. I need to meet you one day, and share a beer (or soda, since you once told us you dont drink alcohol) And yes i can get behind OPs statement. Welcome home Brother..
Dear Mr. Hefner that feeling you feel is your metal head being brought forth into this world. On behalf of metal heads around the world (and right here in Scotland) Welcome to the brotherhood my friend. Also Triviums latest album was sick so check out Betrayer.
Betrayer is great. Their new album is the best they've had i a while. Alex Bent (Drummer) has brought then to the next level, hopefully they keep him around. I think he is their 4th drummer. lol
Alex Bent (drummer) is amazing bro! Those drumming triplets and fills all throughout the song remind me of Alex Van Halen (drummer for Van Halen) and even some of Carter Beuford's more jazzy approach (drummer for Dave Matthews Band) But I loved this. I love, love, love a song that's driven by the rhythm section! Great reaction!
I just came across your channel while searching for Trivium videos, and I have to say, seeing your reaction to the song not only reminded me of the first time I discovered the band, but it gave you a new subscriber. The pure bliss you had on your face as the song ended is the way I feel every time I crank up a metal song.
I am a MASSIVE Trivium fan and I'd love nothing more than to tell you all about them and their story. Each album has a different sound to it and different style, but they all still sound like Trivium. My favorite songs are: 1) Throes of perdition. 2) The sin and the sentence. 3) Like Light to the flies, maybe? Mostly for sentimental reasons.
more trivium man! Like Callisto To A Star In Heaven, Torn Between Scylla And Charybdis, He Who Spawned The Furies... just anything off of their album Shogun would be sick lol
Alex Bent is the newest addition to the lineup, he absolutely kills it on drums. One of the best i’ve heard. He actually does playthroughs of their songs on youtube as well. Definently worth checking out, just to see how much of a monster he actually is. Every album has a minor difference in sound(the sin and the sentence went way different from their last album.) its worth seeing just how good of musicians they are, i’d check out either until the world goes cold, or strife, maybe even down from the sky to see just how different they can be.
I'm surprised you haven't checked out "Disturbed" yet, they seems right up your alley! I'd suggest "Indestructible" but they have other cool songs like: Stricken Down With The Sickness Stupify Prayer Mistress
Trivium is my favorite modern metal band. It seems like they are the only ones who have the balls to change their sound nowadays. I haven’t loved everything they’ve ever put out but you gotta respect them for doing what they want to do. More Trivium reactions plz 🤘
I watched your Anthem reaction right before this one. I've never actually heard the two songs back to back and it really showed how much the band has gotten more and more proficient with their instruments as time has gone on. Even if every album isn't better than the last, they themselves have done what they want to do better and better each time
Hello Alex! It's amazing that you started to enjoy to metal. Very energetic music bro :) if we speak about Trivium you should check songs from their gratest album (in my opinion of course) Shogun. Name of the songs are: Kirisute Gomen, Down from The Sky, Thores of Perdition and THE MIGHTY Shogun (same name as the album). I'm begging you check those songs out and make reaction to them. I'm really looking forward to it. Respect bro and I'm sending my regarts from POLAND! Peace.
I prefer In Waves. But shogun is good too. 4 me, In Waves is the best album of them. Very balanced songs in there. Shogun is almost like screams everywhere. Its good to me, but lacks melody a bit.
That home feeling is the reason I fell in absolute love with metal in the first place. Knowing there's always a song or album I can revisit to feel whole again is what keeps me going day after day. Keep the great work up bro, you're taking your journey through metal exactly how you should!
Dude, you're so open minded to new sounds, I love it! Trivium has been one of my fav bands for almost half my life(I saw em when I was 19, still listening to em at almost 33) This makes me so happy. Good on you!
Yes. Thank you to whoever recommended this song. I absolutely adore this channel even though I'm aware I'm seeing some of these videos years after Alex reviewed them. I'm a lifelong metalhead who's been in this genre for over 30 years. Some of these reaction videos are nostalgic and it feels like sharing Metal I grew up with with my little brother or something. But some of these are bands and songs I dismissed when they came out or didn't have time or the access to listen to. Trivium is one of those bands and this song was awesome and metal as hell and up there with Amon Amarth and Lamb of God as one of the best bands I've been turned on to thanks to this channel. So, thanks to whoever suggested this. More Trivium please.
I have been a fan for a few years, but we had the same reaction to this song! Thanks for doing this! Got to see them live last month and hearing this song - I felt so happy lol
04:50 Thank you...so true. I discovered metal a few years back also coming from HipHop and I know exactly how you feel. The wonderful thing is...it never stops. There are so many diffrent kinds of metal that there is always something great to explore. \m/
Alex Hefner I think it's great that you're actually reading the comments. A lot of Yotubers do not, they are just asking for comments and then do not care. Youre video became my every day evening Entertainment, because it is about 8pm here in germany when you post them.
hey man!! just came across your channel . you are flippin awesome dude . welcome to this mad crazy badass world we call metal and hard rock . its always super cool when someone who grew up only playing one style of music . myself i love all kinds of music from metallica to han zimmer . it puts a big smile on my face when i see someone who loves hip hop/rap starts to jam out to stuff like TRIVIUM or SLIPKNOT . it damn cool . it shows what u all have been missing out on . and that home feeling that your getting is what metal is and has always been about . if you feel alone or down . pop in something from metallica or ghost or in flames . that sad feeling you had before that ......its gone . your now apart of something bigger . and you are not alone . you feel much better . but yeah brother WELCOME TO THE METAL FAMILY . ha ha hells yeah !!!
Trivium - Strife !!!!! Alex, you need to listen to Trivium - Strife. It really shows off the guitar shredding skills of both Cory (main lead guitar) and Matt (lead vocals)
Damn this is a good song. Great reaction!! Here are some suggestions: Soilwork - Stabbing the Drama (great introduction into the Swedish Gotherburg style) Periphery - Icarus Lives (not their best song, but it's one of their grooviest and one of my favorites) Tesseract - Nocturne (one of the more catchy songs they've done, but still awesome) Deftones - Back to School (because you need to hear Deftones)
Hey Alex, Not a big commenter on RUclips, but needed to say.... You GET it! The words "a sense of home" are poetic as hell when describing metal in general, I've been a metal head since I was around 10y/o. I love these reaction vids, been watching them non stop today, you have earned yourself another sub ;) haha Keep it up man!
while you´re at it, you should listen to the entire album The Sin And The Sentence from Trivium. every single song gives me goose bumps, even after listening to it dozens of times.
the feeling of being home that Metal generates within us is the first time in my entire life I truly felt at home, and safe. knowing we all felt this connection, passion, power within us was so eye opening to me. Metal changed me, Metal saved me, and its world shaking to see it changing more people every day.
Awesome reaction as always! I'm going to keep recommending... CODE ORANGE - FOREVER CODE ORANGE - BLEEDING THE BLUR. You would probably also like Devin Townsend Project - Kingdom
Feeling the same vibes as you bro, that drummer man!!!! You just cant help but utter some noise at that beautiful percussion! They've been one of my favs since 2005 and the new drummer just puts them on musical steroids!!
yeah man!!! he said he'd do bloody angel, i'm SO looking forward to it! any avatar is fantastic but that song...chills down my spine... def my favorite band ever
Lyrics if anyone want .. These graves are cold and empty He knew it's where we'd soon reside The waves recede so gently They only left the sands of time (What have we done) To the future we run (What have we done) Headlong without question (What have we done) Creations devised (What have we done) To put an end to all life A dead road A dark sun Now waits Beyond Oblivion A dead road A dark sun Now waits Beyond Oblivion These shadows sleep so soundly Appalled, he now averts his eyes Disgraced, he felt so empty Entrusting us with our demise (What have we done) To the future we run (What have we done) Headlong without question (What have we done) Creations devised (What have we done) To put an end to all life A dead road A dark sun Now waits Beyond Oblivion A dead road A dark sun Now waits Beyond Oblivion Beyond Oblivion Beyond Oblivion Beyond Oblivion Beyond Oblivion Beyond Oblivion Beyond Oblivion Beyond Oblivion Beyond Oblivion A dead road A dark sun Now waits Beyond Oblivion A dead road A dark sun Now waits Beyond Oblivion A dead road A dark sun Now waits Beyond Oblivion A dead road A dark sun Now waits Beyond Oblivion
Monkey D. Luffy Why not give him some of the best AA. (Sorry buddy but Angela just IS the better, compared to Allisa) Better let him hear Under a Black Flag we March or My Nemesis. I'll give the new some credit tho.. i really love War Ethernal but still, the old is imho better
Metal Monkey You really thing our boy is ready for that? I mean, he HAS done some "weird" metal before.. But The Devil and I? You sure he can handle thag video just yet 🤔 (Been an maggot for years and into metal and rock almost all my life, but that one firstly shook me for real.. Alex, man i love your videos, you are the kind i really would love to hang out with, but for all thats dope.. be careful my bro
So looking forward to seeing them live in August at the Summer Breeze Festival! That new drummer brought them to a whole nother level. Before I really liked them, now they are one of my favorites!
Love your reaction! I love this song too! It's my favorite song now still since it was released last year! You should hear the whole album! I have it on vinyl! Also check out some Bullet For My Valentine or "The End of Heartache" by Killswitch Engage!
You should consider some instrumental metal sometime, musicianship is off the scale on all instruments. Id recommend angel vivaldi, animals as leaders, andy james, scale the summit, paul wardingham, etc.....oh, and tool, the grudge 😉 love your videos man
This is the PERFECT song to introduce someone to Trivium. It's my favorite on the album. As a long time fan of Trivium and metal of all types in general, welcome home! Now check out their album Shogun whenever you can. It's a masterpiece!
Feeling home is probably the best thing to say about metal. I also love this song soo incredibly much and I could cry every single time I listen to it. It really gives me a feeling of happiness. It makes me so fucking emotional. Recently music became my very best friend because it always makes me feel better when I'm down. It makes me smile because it warms my heart so much. And i totally agree with you bro. This song is a masterpiece. Thank you so much Trivium for producing such a great song.
King for Eluveitie, Vodka for Korpiklaani and Fe Ra Huri for Omnia
so true.. with nothing else I get such extreme emotions
happy happy happy happy little boozer
Yajra01 this guy gets it^
Liam Jorgensen BOOM!!! Exactly 🤘🏻😈
I don't feel it's fair to call you hip-hop head anymore. You have reached a new level of music. You are truly Beyond Oblivion
Distorted Sky ❤️
Metal head
The Sin And The Sentence!
Trivium is brilliant. The singer Matt was smiling at us the whole concert, especially while singing this song. They are so kind, nice and intelligent. Not mentoining the music...excellent!! And you should check out Thrown into the fire!! Brilliant ass kicking song.
Nikola Blahušiaková Or maybe shogun i gues alex would Love to see that
I loove thrown into the fire! That live was 👌
Metal is the greatest thing on the face of the earth.
@jerry you sound like a bro, thank you for being on this planet!
Hearing this song makes me happy that Trivium found a great drummer. He adds so much to what was missing for me no the latest Trivium albums.
Alex Bent is amazing
Also, Alex Bent is by far the best decision Trivium ever made. One of the best drummers around right now
Hell yes man. Trivium is that shiiiiiit. The Sin and the Sentence is a ridiculous album

You have to listen to Trivium - In Waves
Trivium are musical GODS amongst men, I've watched all of your videos Alex, but this one compelled me to comment on. I suggest you to watch videos about each of them. They are musically talented to the MAX.
I had to get this album, I ordered it from America all the way to Pakistan!

I've been a fan of Trivium since 2009, when my friend introduced me to "Throes of Perdition" and I instantly fell in love with them. Simon Pietro Barrovecchio yes please omg!!! React to him playing this song!!!!!!
Seeing him Alex play this alone is crazy let alone Betrayer
He makes the album. Put them over the top.
Trivium - Sever the Hand. This one is reaaally sick. ;)
Shogun being nearly 10 years old is fucking insane.
Austin Dotson idk about underrated. They've achieved a lot of recognition and good ratings for an American metal band out of the 2000s.
...that being said, I think Shogun is a little underrated. It should be required listening for any metal fan. Not something to be skipped over.

Finally someone reacted to a Trivium song with their current (and best ever) drummer, Alex Bent is a God.
More from Trivium:
Pillars of Serpents
The Deceived
A gunshot to the head of trepidation
Down from the Sky
Shogun
Memory Don't forget The Sin and the Sentence and Betrayer. Best songs of the album :D
Alex Storm the entire album is good. Except other worlds. That song is pretty bad imo
In Waves
Pull Harder on the strings of your martyr
I second "Gunshot"
Now is the best time ever to learn guitar man. Thousands of channels on RUclips alone will point you in the right direction. I've been playing 16 years and still so happy I started. The sin and the sentence off their newest album is really good
Wamp76 M Lol. You mean The Sin and The Sentence off The Sin and the sentence...
Peter Parker yeah I thought that might sound confusing
Welcome home dude. These genres are great! And on a Metal-heads are probably the nicest people you'll ever meet...
I just came across your channel while searching for Trivium videos, and I have to say, seeing your reaction to the song not only reminded me of the first time I discovered the band, but it gave you a new subscriber. Oh damn you actually reacted to it! Check out betrayer too! It doesn't have a video but the song is great.
TheMostChillingestDude he could react to a lyric video instead!
Michael Havoc It does have a video. The tour video. It's awesome
Skinny P yeah I saw that recently. Pretty damn good.
Alex Bent is the newest addition to the lineup, he absolutely kills it on drums. One of the best i’ve heard. He actually does playthroughs of their songs on youtube as well. Stricken
Down With The Sickness
Stupify
Prayer
Mistress
Trivium is my favorite modern metal band. It seems like they are the only ones who have the balls to change their sound nowadays. I haven’t loved everything they’ve ever put out but you gotta respect them for doing what they want to do. More Trivium reactions plz 🤘
AJ Ingsoc they are unreal

Yes !!!!you have to listen to shogun!!!
Hello stranger from poland, where you at their gig in warsaw?
I prefer In Waves. But shogun is good too. 4 me, In Waves is the best album of them. Very balanced songs in there. Shogun is almost like screams everywhere. Its good to me, but lacks melody a bit.
regeman100 yes, but not in this year :D I was during In Waves tour.
man its fun to see you slowly turning into a metal head
That home feeling is the reason I fell in absolute love with metal in the first place. Knowing there's always a song or album I can revisit to feel whole again is what keeps me going day after day. Keep the great work up bro, you're taking your journey through metal exactly how you should!

Architects - Doomsday
Joe Franklin I second this
Third this
I fourth this
I fifth this
Sixth this!
Well put man Trivium = Energy + Emotion + Musicianship
BEARTOOTH!!!! I remember you liked a beartooth comment under previous videos, so hope you will make it.
Yesssss..... more trivium.
You should listen to absolute zero by stone sour
Austin Willis hell ye
Austin Willis or 30-30-150
04:50 Thank you...so true. I discovered metal a few years back also coming from HipHop and I know exactly how you feel. The wonderful thing is...it never stops. There are so many diffrent kinds of metal that there is always something great to explore. \m/
Potpourripet I can’t wait to get further into this journey
Alex Hefner I think it's great that you're actually reading the comments. A lot of Yotubers do not, they are just asking for comments and then do not care. Youre video became my every day evening Entertainment, because it is about 8pm here in germany when you post them.
hey man!! just came across your channel . you are flippin awesome dude . welcome to this mad crazy badass world we call metal and hard rock . its always super cool when someone who grew up only playing one style of music . myself i love all kinds of music from metallica to han zimmer . it puts a big smile on my face when i see someone who loves hip hop/rap starts to jam out to stuff like TRIVIUM or SLIPKNOT . it damn cool . it shows what u all have been missing out on . and that home feeling that your getting is what metal is and has always been about . if you feel alone or down . pop in something from metallica or ghost or in flames . that sad feeling you had before that ......its gone . your now apart of something bigger . and you are not alone . you feel much better . but yeah brother WELCOME TO THE METAL FAMILY . ha ha hells yeah !!!
like light to flies. The song the first generations listened to. It also has an epic solo.
@alexhefner
Trivium - Strife !!!!! Alex, you need to listen to Trivium - Strife. It really shows off the guitar shredding skills of both Cory (main lead guitar) and Matt (lead vocals)
Yes!! Strife!!
Hendrix Gaming Productions Strife is tied with Built to Fall for my favorite songs of Trivium
You should react to The Revanchist by Trivium next :D
He'd LOVE the "boss battle" solo! :P
Damn this is a good song. Great reaction!! Here are some suggestions:
Soilwork - Stabbing the Drama (great introduction into the Swedish Gotherburg style)
Periphery - Icarus Lives (not their best song, but it's one of their grooviest and one of my favorites)
Tesseract - Nocturne (one of the more catchy songs they've done, but still awesome)
Deftones - Back to School (because you need to hear Deftones)
Greg Schmidt yes to all these suggestions
Stabbing the Drama is a great suggestion
Hey Alex,
Not a big commenter on RUclips, but needed to say....
You GET it! The words "a sense of home" are poetic as hell when describing metal in general, I've been a metal head since I was around 10y/o.
I love these reaction vids, been watching them non stop today, you have earned yourself another sub ;) haha
Keep it up man!
That new drummer of them really is a freaking beast.
Shogun by Trivium is great as well.
Trivium - Until the world goes cold pleaseeee
Jose Villarreal
Hear hear.
One hella fine song
Matt really shows a side many perhaps not would think would be found in metal/metalcore..
you can't go wrong with Of Mice and Men - Bones Exposed
while you´re at it, you should listen to the entire album The Sin And The Sentence from Trivium. every single song gives me goose bumps, even after listening to it dozens of times.
the feeling of being home that Metal generates within us is the first time in my entire life I truly felt at home, and safe. knowing we all felt this connection, passion, power within us was so eye opening to me. Metal changed me, Metal saved me, and its world shaking to see it changing more people every day.
Such a sick song, gonna need some more Trivium.
Also, Alex Bent (their drummer) is a great addition to the band, such a beast!
Yo if you want an awesome trivium song, listen to down from the sky. Absolutely legendary
Awesome reaction as always! I'm going to keep recommending...

Lyrics if anyone want ..
These graves are cold and empty
He knew it's where we'd soon reside
The waves recede so gently
They only left the sands of time
(What have we done)
To the future we run
(What have we done)
Headlong without question
(What have we done)
Creations devised
(What have we done)
To put an end to all life
A dead road
A dark sun
Now waits
Beyond Oblivion
A dead road
A dark sun
Now waits
Beyond Oblivion
These shadows sleep so soundly
Appalled, he now averts his eyes
Disgraced, he felt so empty
Entrusting us with our demise
(What have we done)
To the future we run
(What have we done)
Headlong without question
(What have we done)
Creations devised
(What have we done)
To put an end to all life
A dead road
A dark sun
Now waits
Beyond Oblivion
A dead road
A dark sun
Now waits
Beyond Oblivion
Beyond Oblivion
Beyond Oblivion
Beyond Oblivion
Beyond Oblivion
Beyond Oblivion
Beyond Oblivion
Beyond Oblivion

Arch enemy --> the world is yours !!!
Monkey D. Luffy
Why not give him some of the best AA.
(Sorry buddy but Angela just IS the better, compared to Allisa)
Better let him hear Under a Black Flag we March or My Nemesis.
I'll give the new some credit tho.. i really love War Ethernal but still, the old is imho better
SortenRavn For me Alissa is the best but it's my opinion and yeah some old AA stuff would be nice too!
You have to do Slipknot - The Devil in I
Metal Monkey
You really thing our boy is ready for that?
I mean, he HAS done some "weird" metal before..

He is ready, i mean he has a thing for little girls. He'll be fine.
Please do, its freaking amazing!
Id recommend angel vivaldi, animals as leaders, andy james, scale the summit, paul wardingham, etc.....oh, and tool, the grudge 😉 love your videos man
Yes, Scale the Summit!
Mmhmm good recommendations
Make Them Suffer - Ether
Make Them Suffer - Cannibal Corpse!!!!!!!
Vortex
React to Panic Attack by Dream Theater!
