Superb VCLT from Ron, especially the mono Zappa. Mighty finds- that original 1st Cressida has been near the top of my wants list for years. Original Culpeper's and Goliath! phew! Great to watch again. I'll put my tongue back in my head now.

Hi Alan and thanks for watching! Yeah, that Zappa really was a generous gift, as with the rest of the albums. Remember Alan, we could always do a trading deal. You know I want your Arcadium badly :-) Take care!

Good Morning Nico! Good to see a new update video from you. My mouth starts to water every time I see those original Vertigo records, I just don't see those at all over here. As usual, you always turn me on to stuff I never seen. Nice VCLT from Ron. Have a great week.

It is interesting that Nico never sees the UNI label.

Hey Randy! Thanks for stopping by. I'm sorry I keep missing your livestreams. They are just too late for me usually. I usually watch them the day after :-) Let me know if there are any specific Vertigo Swirls you're looking for. If they turn up, I'll let you know. Take care and have a great week you too!

Good day Nico, great VCLT from Ron those four records are amazing I like them all as well. Thank you for showing Cressida as their first two albums are at my store both reissues but I didn’t know how good they were so I’ve passed on them. I will be buying both after watching your review. Hope your able to get your mixed tape set up going again. Thanks for sharing your amazing collection, Cheers Snowy

Hi Sean! Thanks for stopping by. Ron sure is generous. I really recommend Cressida if you like melodic progressive rock. Well crafted albums indeed. I'm going to attempt another mixtape when I find the motivation. Take care!

Nice gifts from Ron! Love his channel. Big congrats on the two Cressidas! Fantastic stuff, a beloved older friend who has now passed away turned me on to them in 93/94-something when he handed me the Repertoire CD's in a shop and said "Get these!" Sorry to hear about the tech disaster, crossing fingers for a swift return of the "show"! / Jens

Hi Jens and thanks for tuning in! I agree. Ron's channel was the first VC channel I started watching. He's a very knowledgeable and generous guy. The Cressida originals have been on my wantlist for many years. Finally both popped up as a package deal I could afford. Take care!

H I, Nico! I just got my Wi-Fi up and running. Great selection of recent finds, the stuff you find...amazing! It feels good to be back in the loop after being without internet for awhile. I'm glad the VCLT arrived safely and you are enjoying it. Your 1st UNI label? That's cool. The first Fever Tree was one of my 1st non-Beatles psych albums I bought in the early 80s. Great weather in Phoenix right now, 70s during the day and 50s at night. Happy hunting ! Ron

Hi Nico. As always. Great to see you again. I don't usually have a lot of the albums that you show but I do happily have a few in this video. I will check out Goliath. Really nice Cressida on Vertigo. Love those pressings. I listened to some it just now. I am trying to think who they sound like? So many bands were using keyboards in the seventies that sounded very familiar. I will get back to you on it. Solid vocals. Really good music. Outstanding post once again. Love your updates Nico~

Hi Rob and thanks for taking the time! You're right about the similarities between a lot of the bands back then. I guess it's always been that way. I definitely think Cressida had their own unique sound, even though they used a conventional lineup consisting of organ, guitar, bass, drums and vocals. I think their strength was in writing good songs and executing them above average. Do check out Goliath. Take care!

Hey Olivier! Thanks for watching. I'm very pleased to have both the Cressida albums on Vertigo Swirl. It took me quite a few years to make that happen. Take care buddy!

Nice one Nico with Cressida. I also have their first as a UK swirl and its a fantastic album. Looked like you got a nice clean cover for it as well. I'll be waiting a long time before their second passes by this neck of the woods.

Hi Noisy and thanks for watching! I agree on the first Cressida album. It's the better of the two I think, even though Asylum tends to be more expensive. Both are great, but the first one is my favourite. I hope you find a copy of Asylum in the near future. Take care!

    WoW, as always.
Nerver heard Quicksand, so I`ll have to check it out.
I saw Cessida live on Dimles Melloboat in 2013, excellent show. It didn`t hurt to see Änglagård, Saga, Panta Rei, Icecross and the amazing Morgan Ågren either.
    Til next time.
    Take care,

Hi Jocke and thanks for watching! I recommend Quicksand. Not every track is great, but all in all it's a solid album. I would have liked to be on the Melloboat 2013 gig. An awesome lineup. Take care!

Sorry to hear about the tech issues around your recent mix tape attempt. Real enjoyed the Krautrock episode.
Love the two Cressida albums. I had to settle for the recent Repertoire reissues, which are very decent. In the US, you have to practically take out a second mortgage on your home to afford some UK Vertigo originals!!! Nice find on the Quicksand LP. You should check out their label mates Jonesy, if you haven't already done so.

Hi Central Scrutinizer! Thanks for watching and thanks for encouraging me to do another mixtape episode. Technical trouble can sometimes take the wind out of you, especially when it takes time and effort to make something, only to be wiped out without warning :-) I'll be back!
How do the Reportoire reissues sound? My experience with the label's reissues is very positive. They always seem to do it properly. I have heard about Jonesy, but never heard them so thanks for the tip. I will definitely check them out. Take care!

@@NicoMalcolm Hey Nico, Repertoire really did a great job on the Cressida reissues that I have. Honestly, as far as vinyl reissues go, I would rate those as among the best sounding of any reissue I own, and I have a pretty big collection. Very highly recommended!!

Argh! Those two cressida albums! Unfortunately I only own the Akarma pressings which are basically bootlegs... Happy 2020 by the way, pal! I’ve bought so much stuff since the last time you’ve read a comment of mine... I’m now at 8 turntables, lots of new records (the latest one being an original Italian NM copy of “Concerto Grosso per i New Trolls”), and a lovely blue Subaru Impreza with golden wheels! I need to stop spending money...
I’ve missed your videos a lot, I hope everything is well with you, and please keep making videos!
    As always, greetings from Scotland!

Simon! Long time no see. No more videos? You were on a roll a while back. I hope you start doing videos again. I'd love to see an update with all the stuff you have bought, including New Trolls. I only have a reissue of one of their albums. Wow, 8 turntables :-) Everything's fine here, thanks for asking. How's everything with you? Happy new year buddy!

NicoMalcolm Everything’s fine Nico! I’ve been busy with my job mostly (I work in a scottish castle), I’ve bought the many turntables as projects and I’ve managed to fix them all! I just need to sell some of them now hehe! I always wonder what gear do you use, like what turntable, amplifier, speakers etc. It could be a cool video for the community, you know? Why don’t you start a group or a page on Facebook so you can chat with your subscribers? I’d love to have the chance to chit chat a wee bit!
      Take care!

Good morning. Great way to wake up on a Sunday with a new video from Nico. Amazing VLCT from Ron some real gems especially the Adam Blessing and Zappa 👍. Sorry to hear about your technical issue with your mix tape hopefully you’ll try to make another one always enjoy those. Man it’s incredible how you find all those grails . Have a great week and thanks again for the great video. Later John 👍

Hi John and thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Ron is a super nice and generous guy for sure! I really enjoy the albums he sent me. If I find the motivation I will definitely make another mixtape episode. My hope is that more of us VC'ers make mixtape videos. I miss those days :-) Have a great week and take care my friend!

Good to see you Nico. Absolutely Free is one of two Mothers' albums that I want. That Creepy John Thomas is shiny clean. The two Vertigo Swirl albums are something I never see. The UNI label on the other hand are not hard to find.

    • @NicoMalcolm
      @NicoMalcolm  4 года назад

Hi Richie! Thanks for watching. Absolutely Free is an essential Mothers album indeed. Check out Creepy John Thomas. I definitely recommend that group. For some strange reason the UNI label is rarely seen here in Norway, even though many US psych albums were dumped here in the cut out bins in the early 70's. Vertigo Swirl on the other hand is much easier to find....but expensive of course. Take care!
