Oml I remembered I had come across this video months ago and being so impressed and also getting that feeling of nostalgia and love of something you always knew and stored deep in your heart.. and I could not find it again for days, as I know things will calm down so there's time for me to pick up this project of learning embroidery and learning it well. SO stoked I have found your tutorials again! Two days till my 3-day weekend that starts Friday. How generous of you to share these techniques. Have gathered/ bought embroidery threads, tools and a lamp over the course of the past months "second-hand" and new.. It is time! Yes :) Just two more days and I will sit down with your video and spirit to learn this ancient trade!

This is so helpful. I've been struggling with this stitch because I haven't been achieving the look I wanted. Your instructions are absolutely fantastic. It really helped me to think of it as "staggered stitches" instead of rigid long and short stitches. Although the latter does give you an interesting effect too, if it's what you want. Thank you so much

    Things I'll come back to:
17:35 Securing the thread on a petal and at 18:25 on a line.
22:20 Example petal. 25:00 The second row/shade of the petal. 30:35 "when is a row full"? 31:40 "don't shorten stitches"
33:00 A heavily-curved petal (and a good summary of the previous content). Double rows seem to be the secret...
40:35 A "simple flower with petals". 42:15 creating a shadow effect between 'overlapping' petals.
48:00 Petal turnover (aka, a petal that's 'folded')
51:16 Leaf (4 shades of green)
55:50 fitting shades in small spaces (grain stock ?3? shades of yellow - light, dark, and brown)
59:30 round shape (a blueberry, 4 shades of blue)
1:01:15 "wedge stitch" to deal with extremely sharp turns.
1:05:00 Feathers (or fur, or any area with uneven shading). Example: a bird's head.
