Your video has just fixed another tv LC-24LS240E. I had a dodgy socket and I'm thinking it surged the tv . I followed your guide and removed the 3 diodes - one was completely dead. Ordered some more SB5100 diodes for a couple of quid and soldered them in. It came straight back and now I'm watching a bit of telly with my feet up having a cuppa! Thanks!

After watching this Video I have just repaired my TV which stopped working a few months ago.
Thank you. Very informative and easy to follow.

My 2016 22" model which has the same power board as the one in the video but different model number went off today, pleased to actually find this video so ordered the parts and will hopefully have a working TV again in the next few days. Thanks

Great vid thankyou very much! Im not stupid with electronics but diagnosing a tv is a bit beyond my reasonable realm. this hit the nail on the head, tested diodes, kaput, bought 10 for £2.50, soldered 3 in, sorted. This was a different, newer model but exactly same supply board.

Very useful video - particularly as I was having trouble getting the back off, so good to know that there are a series of clips that just need forced apart (carefully). I have the Sharp LC-24VDV510K which is a different model but the back looked very similar and when I opened it up it had the same PS board. Tested the 3 diodes and they look as if they've shorted. Bought new SB5100 5A 100v diodes off ebay and just about to fit them in.

Fixed! Needed to buy a more powerful soldering iron (40w) as the ones I had were making no impression on the PCB.

@@alexbain3476 is there any way to do this without the soldering iron

    • @alexbain3476
      @alexbain3476 2 года назад

@@jamesb7843 I don't think so. I got a new soldering iron from Screwfix (UK) for £9.99 just for this job. You'll also need solder and a small pointy nose pair of pliers.

Thank you so much. Your guide is good also for the Sharp LC-24LE240E: the power supply seems to be identical, and as a matter of fact, the three diodes were burned as well. I used three diodes model SB5B0.

Fair play for having a go,but a little talk on the dangers of taking a power board out ,the big capacitor can hold 450 volt ☠️ ?

Good job but you should have shown how you arrived at that the diodes were faulted, an easy and fundamental step for illustration purposes. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, I have a sharp aquos lc-60le636e with no power, I noticed that the fuse f7001 and capacitor c7818 were blown , I replaced both but when I attempt to power on it keeps blowing the new fuse

That tells you that you still have a defective component or components. Most likely a "Short" somewhere on the board. Always do a "visual check" of all the components FIRST. That may save you a lot of time locating the problem. Watch other videos to learn more about your particular problem...... Good luck.

I've just done this repair to exactly the same model of television. When I switched off an extractor fan the spike caused by induction in windings of the motor caused the TV to pack up. Anyway, I tested all three diodes and only 2 had gone down, but, I replaced the set. I purchased 10 off eBay for £2.99. They are called Schottky Diodes and their part number is, SR5100 =SB5100=SB5B0=SR5010=SR510 100V 5A Schottky Rectifier Diode.

Hi Bryan I have a sharp 32" LC-32SV29U, I want to replace those diode (D930, D961, & D960) but I can't seem to find where to buy it. I live in California. Do you know the web site where I can get those diode. Thank you.

Good video however you should have figured out how to shoot the desoldering and soldering. Because most people don't know how to. Keep up the good work.

Congratulations, but what did you do with your left hand between Min 4 and Min.6?? Hopefully no burning from the soldering iron. ;-)
First thing to mention before stating to work for all the unexperienced followers: for safety reasons always unplug the mains before opening or even touching the power supply because the high voltage is obvously very dangerous!
One hint from me to your soldering quality:
From my opinion the solder joints are not very perfect: surface is uneven, the soldering should enclose the wire like a cone with a shining surface = no cold soldering, which means: it might work in the beginning, after some thermal cycles it might get broke again with no contact to the component.
Reason for this might be: too cold iron, bad soldering tin, not enough flux, dirty surfaces.
Please also check the tip of the soldering iron is clean and tinned before starting to work. It can be cleaned with a watered cellulose sponge.
I also succeeded in fixing my TelefunkenT22ED970BLLed,it had the Vestel 17IPS61-2. Also only one of the 3 big diodes in parallel was blown, leading to the shortcut. Fortunately nothing else got damaged. To mention is the type is a SB5100,which is considered too weak for this kind of circuit, the occuring reverse voltage it cannot stand under all circumstances. This one is a Schottky diode with low forward voltage.I replaced it with a higher voltage withstanding type MUR460 from Motorola, and it is important to replace all 3 with the same type even only one got broke. Hopefully these will last longer! ;-))) Also keep in mind the polarity, for the the cathode which is signed by a white band. You mentioned that ;-)) I soldered it to the board also with the same distance to PCB as before for better power dissipation. The use of a wood stick to keep the diodes from falling out is a good idea! Thanks a lot for the video.

You still need to add flux. The soldered joints look like bird shit.
